~ Carly ~

I stood frozen to my s₱0t as I trembled in his presence.

“you ” he said as he brushed past me and entered the house.

“you seem very familiar ” he said and my heart skipped.

Should I go call Brett?

I wanted to move but my legs were shaky and I think if I move, I’d fall down.

“what the hell ” I heard Brett’s voice.

He was descending the stairs.

I felt kinda happy and safe cause there’s someone here now.

I know how I did it but my legs moved on its own and I found myself behind Brett.

He was shocked as I gripped his arm tight and hid behind him.

He looked at his dad and tried taking a step closer to him but I gasped and he stopped.

“it’s like I know her and the way she’s acting, she surely knows me for real ” Brett’s dad said.

What’s his name again?

Gosh! I don’t even remember.

How the hell will I remember a monster’s name?

Brett looked at me then back at his dad.

“leave ” he commanded not leaving his s₱0t.

“why? It’s my house too ” his dad said and walked over to a couch.

OMG! I hope this won’t make Brett have a breakdown.

Brett folded his fist into a ball and I could feel his breaths coming out in p-nts.

He looked at me and gently removed my arm from his.

He walked over to his dad and stood in front of him.

“I said get out ” he said lowly.

Brett’s dad looked up at him with a stern look, his eyes dark with anger just as Brett’s own.

He got up and grabbed Brett on the neck.

I gasped but Brett didn’t even show any sign of pain.

Brett slowly raised his hand and twisted his dad’s hand that was around his neck.

He twisted his hand and starts the same time turned him around.

“you’re getting too old for this Oldman ” Brett said.

His dad kicked him on the leg and Brett staggered back.

“too old indeed ” Brett’s dad teased.

Brett’s eyes became darker, his knuckles turning white as he stared at his dad.

“do you miss your sister, your mom ” his dad teased and laughed.

He’s really a monster.

“they were so easy to take out ” he said and laughed.

Brett’s breathing became p-nts as his father teased him with past memories .

His surly gonna have a breakdown.

Kyle! I need to call Kyle.

I grabbed my phone from the couch and ran upstairs.

I put a call through to Kyle but it was out of coverage.

I kept trying again and again but still got the same thing.

Where the hell is Kyle?

After trying for the umpteenth time, I gave up.

I threw my phone on the bed and headed downstairs.

The sitting room was a mess, the plasma TV was on the floor, broken.

The couches were misplaced.

Vases were broken.

Brett was the only one in the sitting room and it looks like his dad had gone.

“Brett ” I called lowly and his head snapped up at me.

Tears streamed down his cheeks as o saw the pains on his eyes.

That monster just refreshed his bad memories.

“no don’t! ” Brett yelled when I tried going closer to him.

“Brett just calm down ” I said and moved closer to him.

“don’t come any closer ” he said, his eyes dark with anger as he p-nted.

I ignored his warning and got closer to him.

The next thing I felt was his hærd grip around my neck, choking me to death.

“Brett stop ” I cried but he paid deaf ears.

OMG! I thought I could stop him.

“you’re hurting me ” I cried and I think that knocked some senses into him.

His grip loosened and his eyes stared deep into mine.

“you’re hurting me “I cried lowly as his hand slowly unwrapped around my neck.

“Carly I’m… I’m ” he stuttered slowly.

“I’m sorry ” he blurted out.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you ” he said softly.

“I’m sorry ” he kept repeating lowly.

He broke down on the floor and cried.

I squatted beside him and hugged him.

“ssshhhh it’s OK ” I cooed as I car-ssed his hair.

He rested his head on my chest as I cooed him.

“it’s OK ” I said as I held him in my arms.

The door flew open and Kyle walked in.

He stopped when he saw Brett in my arms.

Our eyes met and he looked away.

He said nothing as he walked past us upstairs.

He didn’t even ask what happened to his brother.

He’s strange these days.

“hey come ” I told Brett and pulled him up.

“let’s go upstairs ” I said and we both walked upstairs.

I laid him on his bed and covered him with the blanket.

I turned to leave but he gripped my hand.

“please don’t go ” he whispered.

I smiled and sat beside him.

I car-ssed his hair and smiled.

“now sleep ” I said like an order and he closed his eyes.

I car-ssed his hair and after mins, he slept off.

I heaved a sigh of relief and retired to my room.

I freshened up and plumped down on my bed.

I closed my eyes and slept off.

~ Kyle ~

When I came into the house, o wasn’t surprised by what I saw.

Probably Brett had a breakdown yesterday and as I expected, Carly calmed him.

Those two are meant to be together and there’s no way I’m coming between them.

Carly will be the light to Brett’s darkness.

After freshening up, I laid on my bed and slept off.

I woke up the next day and went downstairs.

I sighed at the mess I knew Brett made.

I went over to the plasma in the floor and raised him up.

“wanna clean up ?” I heard Brett’s voice and I rolled my eyes.

“yeah, trying to clean the mess your ugly ass created ” I replied.

He walked up to me and we both carried the TV.

We dropped it outside and went back him.

“gonna call Ken to come dump it and get us a new one” I said and he nodded.

We both cleaned the mess and after that, I heaved a sigh of relief.

“you know u can’t still take her ” Brett said lowly and I looked up to him.

“Carly, you can still have her cause I know you’d love her ” he said.

“yes I still love her but I ain’t gonna take her. I gave her up for you and you better start accepting that. You love her and she loves you so you both work things out ” I said.

“but she loves u ” he said.

“she doesn’t love me, she just likes me for my nature, for my nice and caring nature and I don’t want that. I don’t want a woman who would love me just for that, I want a woman who’ll love me for me ” I said and he nodded.

“and if I don’t take her? ” he asked and I scoffed.

“if you don’t take her which I know you’d never do, I’ll let her fall in love with someone else but I ain’t taking her back, never ” I said and he smiled.

“thanks ” he said and I nodded.

I sighted Carly coming and I changed topic.

“so what caused your breakdown this time? Or did it it just come out of the blue ” I asked and he sighed.

“that ugly assh-le of a father came here last night ” he said and I stopped what I was doing.

“he was here ” I asked and he nodded.

“that bastard, we need to find evidence to put him behind bars for good ” I said.

“more like, throw him in hell ” Brett said and we chuckled.

“good morning ” Carly greeted.

“morning ” Brett and I said at once.

“so I’ll go make breakfast ” she said.

“no need, we’re all going out since we’ll be ditching school today too or aren’t you ” Brett asked.

“sure! Where ” she asked.

“to have a get together ” Brett replied.

The door flew open and Amber walked in.

“you’ve gat to knock ” Brett said and Amber froze on her s₱0t.

“did he just talk ” she asked and I chuckled.

“and that too, to me? ” she asked unbelievably.

Just then the doorbell rang and we glanced at one another.

I went to get it and was shoved bald immediately I opened the door.

It was dad, I mean Mr Wilson.

Amber ran to me and hid behind me while Carly hid behind Brett.

“I remember her now ” He blurted out.

“Carly ” he called out and Carly flinched.

The f-ck!

The f-ck he remembers her!

Carly’s grip on my shoulder tightened and that triggered the anger in me more.

I don’t wanna see her scared again.

“and so? ” I asked and he looked at me.

“what if you remember her? Should we bow down at your feet and worsh¡p u for regaining your wrinkled memory ” I asked and Kyle chuckled.

“well Carly, you owe me something, your parents did but since they’re no more, you get to pay ” he said and I smirked.

“and what is it she owes you ” I asked.

“her parents owed me huge sum of money but they weren’t able to pay before they died, I meant before I killed them ” he whispered the last part and Carly sniffed behind me.

I turned and saw her already in tears.

I hugged her tight and glared at the monster I have as a father.

“and if she can’t pay, then I’ll have her ” he blurted out and I didn’t know when I let go of Carly and grabbed him by the collar.

Have her? That’s impossible!

He yanked my hands off him and smirked.

“we’ll pay ” Kyle said behind him and I gave him a look.

“no, I don’t want it from you both but from her. I’ll have her if she doesn’t pay which I know she can’t. Be back soon and when I come back, is either she’s coming with me or joining her parents wherever they are ” he said and walked out.

Amber heaved a sigh of relief and plumped down on the couch.

Kyle signaled me to help Carly to her room and I nodded.

I held her and led her upstairs.

I made her lay on the bed and I sat beside her.

I car-ssed her hair as she sobbed quietly.

“it’s OK, everything will be alright ” I cooed.

“he’s gonna come for me, he’s gonna kill me ” she sobbed.

“no! I won’t let anything happen to you, I won’t let anyone hurt you ” I said and she stared straight into my eyes.

“I know I’ve been a jerk to you but I’m never gonna hurt you again and I won’t let anyone hurt you ” I said and she nodded.

I car-ssed her and soon she fell asleep.

I sighed and went back downstairs.

“how’s she ” Kyle asked as I took my seat on a couch.

“fine but still shaken from what dad said ” I said.

“which one of it ” he asked.

“that he’d come for her ” I replied and he nodded.

“we need to be very smart now ” I said and he nodded.

“we need a plan ” Amber said and I gave her a look that says “seriously? “.

She wants to get involved in this mess?

“oh sorry, just that I’d help ” she said and got up.

OK now she’s upset.

“Amber wait” Kyle called as she headed out and she stopped.

“I’ve been with you guys for long and there’s nothing wrong in trying to help or else you guys don’t trust me ” she said and Kyle glanced at me.

“don’t gimme that look ” I told Kyle and he looked back at Amber.

“we do trust you Amber, it’s just that this is dangerous and if you get involved , you might get hurt ” Kyle said.

“does it mean you’re worried about me ” she asked and I scoffed.

“yeah I’m worried about you ” Kyle said and she smiled broadly.

“thanks ” she said and hugged Kyle.

Seriously? Does she have to hug him?

She pulled away and looked to my direction then headed towards me.

I made a U-turn and headed upstairs.

There’s no way she’s hugging me.

After she had gone, I came back downstairs.

“time to make plans ” Kyle said and I wiggled my brows.

We went to the room where Kyle, Riley and I would always plan.

This is like our planning room and we’ve got equipments here.

“so dad’s gonna be coming here again for her. What we have to do is plant cameras all over the mansion to video his moves and he might confess to his own crimes” Kyle said and I nodded in agreement.

“we just have to get Carly to act up with it ” he said and I arched an eyebrow.

“you know dad likes teasing us with his evil deeds, trying to refresh our bad memories so obviously he’d do that with Carly wouldn’t she can breakdown ” he said and I nodded.

“I think I’ll be there too cause he likes teasing me with how he killed mom and Riley and if we can get all those in records, then he’ll rot in prison ” I said.

“but dad’s very smart and who knows he’s even listening to us ” Kyle said and I gasped.

“you’re right ” I said.

Kyle and I immediately took off our cl9tues and examined our body for any device but found nothing.

I took the device detector and went to the sitting room.

I detected everywhere and found a camera in the flowers.

“Bummer!” Kyle exclaimed and we chuckled.

I took the camera and switched it off.

“thank goodness we didn’t plan anything here though we said we’d be planning something so yeah he definitely knows we are preparing something for him ” I said.

“and we don’t even know when he’s coming for Carly and that means Carly would never be left alone ” I said.

“the problem now is how do we get Carly to be strong in front of dad when she’s such a scared cat “I asked.

“get me to do what ” we heard Carly’s voice and we turned to see her on the stairs.
