💜 Yolanda 💜
I drummed my fingers as I stared at dad smiling at his phone, obviously chatting with that witch. The stupid woman who thinks she is just like Vee, I hate her so much but dad’s subconscious have twisted and convinced him that she is Cookie. I have tried talking to him, for the pass six months, but nothing was working. The more he missed the original Cookie, the more he believes he is in love with the new one, Carlina.
Can’t he see how much she fakes?
Can’t he see the malicious look in her eyes whenever he looks at Cookie’s photos on the wall?
Why isn’t he listening to me?
He forbade all of us from interfering, my hands were tied. Right now, all I wanted was to die too so I won’t live to see this going on. Mom, where are you? Why can’t you come back and take your place before dad gets drown in his obsession? Why can’t you just show up?
‘Yolanda, are you okay?’ He asked, looking at me. I smiled and licked the tears off my l-ips. ‘Why are you crying?’ He wasn’t even looking for mom again, he gave up. The door opened and the devil skipped in. Dad’s concerned face brightened up, a very big smile crossed his l-ips.
‘Cutie!’ She squealed. She ran to him and sat on his laps. ‘How have you been?’
‘Very good, especially now that you are here.’ He smiled, pushing his head into her chest. She looked at me and smirked deviously.
‘Hi Yolanda, how are you?’ I stood up and walked out, wiping the tears that kept running down my cheeks. ‘Yolanda honey, what’s wrong?’ I opened his office door and walked out. She came after me and blocked my way by crouching in front of me with a plastic smile. ‘Yolanda, I know you don’t like me, I know you feel like I am taking your father away from you but I assure you that I love him, genuinely…’ I walked out on her and headed to the stairs.
‘Yolanda, don’t be rude to my guest…’ I gave dad my middle finger as I walked along. I got to the stairs and jumped on the banister, slid across it with a new plan in my mind. If he wasn’t going to find her, I will do that myself. I found my way to River’s office at the second house, he was busy playing videogame.
‘River,’ I called sternly. He sighed and swayed his chair around to look at me. ‘I want you to do me a favor, a very big one.’
‘Is it a favor that involves finding Miss Happy?’
‘Yes…?’
‘Good, I already have a lead and Carlos has already sent Bruce and Georgia over to investigate.’ I hurried to him with big eyes.
‘Any lead?’
‘So, you know how we have been looking for bodies that came from the sea or anyone who was rescued from shore?’
‘Yes…?’
‘Marilyn said something very smart two weeks ago. She was just asking herself questions and I couldn’t help but pick up three. What if Miss Happy didn’t lose her memory or fell into a coma as we were told? What if she was taken somewhere else by air or land? What if she did lose her memories but escaped and was found by someone else? The questions sparked an idea so I made an algorithm to search for every memory loss related cases for females for the past two years. I made a specific search on anyone with rainbow coloured hair or any coloured hair and also took my time to go through the brain cases your father had been called for the past two years.
Luckily for me, I found one which sparked my interest. She didn’t have a name or age or any specific way to identify her except for the fact that the woman who found her claimed she was homeless. The chief doctor had been trying to reach your father since but he shoved it all away. According to the email he sent, her case was complicated and very difficult to understand because the source of her brain issue wasn’t able to be detected. I told Carlos and he sent Bruce and Georgia to investigate.’
‘That means, she might be the one?’ I asked with happy tears.
‘Don’t be too positive,’ he picked up his ringing phone and put it on loudspeaker. ‘Bruce…’
‘Bad news, I couldn’t find any record of the unnamed lady, the hospital record was cleared. However, I was able to get the name of the woman who brought the lady, she was a nurse in the hospital. The matron admitted to cutting off the hair of the lady which was dyed rainbow and she had a scar on her chest, right above her left br-ast. I spoke to the owner of the hospital, told him the lady might be the woman Ame was looking for and he told me enough to know that the lady is Cookie, Cookie is alive!’
I squealed and clapped my hands. ‘Where is she?’ I asked.
‘Unfortunately, the woman left without a trace, disappeared with Cookie overnight. Her name is Valería Valeroso, has a younger brother and nephew, Diego and Armando by name. Think you can trace her? Check all her transactions or anything, you know what to do.’
‘On it.’
‘I’m staying here to investigate more on this Valería, know her background and where she is from. It might take a while.’
‘Okay, I’ll contact Carlos and pass the information.’
‘I’ll need the background information on her, Valería Valeroso.’
‘I’ll send it to you immediate I get it.’
‘Alright, expecting.’ Bruce hung up. I licked my l-ips and wiped my tears.
‘We should let boss know,’
‘Not yet,’ I said, looking at Carlos who was walking in. ‘Good afternoon.’
‘Yeah, River?’
‘Bruce just confirmed it, she’s Miss Happy.’ Carlos laughed with relief.
‘We can finally get rid of this copycat. Is she there?’
‘Nope,’ River popped the p as he started his search. ‘Miss Happy was saved by a woman, Valería but she disappeared with Miss Happy. I’m guessing the woman was smart enough to know that Miss Happy might be in danger.’
‘So what is Bruce doing?’
‘I’m going to track her location and Bruce is going to find out everything about her, the ones hidden and the ones in open. If I can’t track her, then I will track her brother or nephew. It wouldn’t be too hærd for me to achieve. I’ll need time though.’
‘We shouldn’t let dad know yet,’ I said. He nodded in agreement. ‘I heard dad has a business to handle in Finland?’
‘Yes, he is going to Finland to launch a new product and finalize his new partnersh¡p with Heron Karjalainen. Carlina is going with him as a plus one; his girlfriend.’
‘They are not even dating!’ I exclaimed, throwing my hands up.
‘But he is sleeping with her and in her crafted mind, they are.’ River said with eyes on his computer.
‘I swear, dad is going to regret everything by the time mom returns.’
‘Badly.’ Carlos agreed.
‘Once we track her down, we would forward the information to Cephas, not dad. I want it to pain him when he gets her, when he finds out she is alive and with him. She doesn’t have her memories so that makes it easy. I will make dad regret ever breaking the promise he made to me, make him suffer the same emotional betrayal that I am feeling right now.’
‘Are you sure?’
‘If things go my way, I will make her hate him, suffer him so he would learn a good and valuable lesson.’ I smiled and cackled.
And then I will deal with Carlina myself.
😽 Diego 😽
Valería was playing one of her favorite songs from Tarta Turunen, her boring song. She was doing sit-ups. I on the other hand, held the punching bag Dora was punching aggressively. Over the months, the first thing she did when she woke up was stretch, exercise and train herself in martial art. It must have been an habit with her old life. Our guess is that Dora was a criminal or something related. She had fast agility and reflexes, could be extremely clever and smart when she wanted to and yet annoying even when she didn’t need it.
It has been seven months since we moved to Finland, it has been great so far. We all changed our names to our middle names. Valería now went by Rachelle, Armando, Jay and me Darra. It was very good, no one had bothered us since. Dora is just too mysterious, her change in personalities was something else. She was the perfect twin, one that got me whatever I wanted with her charms but her memories not coming made her sad all the time and every morning, angry.
‘Move,’ she instructed. I left the bag and stepped back. Immediately I did, the bag flew off and crashed on the wall of our small gym. I sighed and glared at her. ‘What?’
‘You burst it, again. That is the sixteenth bag this week. What’s your damage?’
‘I don’t know, I just feel so reckless and afraid, like someone is trying to take what is mine.’
‘Are you sure it’s just that or you are fighting your silly crush on Ame Allen.’ Valería giggled.
‘I don’t have a crush on him,’ she snapped. ‘I just admire his handsomeness and dominance. He so scary and yet so cute and…and…dreamy,’ she sighed dreamily and cupped her cheeks as she blushed. ‘Something about him just… I don’t know.’
‘Ooh, someone’s in love,’ I teased. She rolled her eyes.
‘Join his fan club, he has pages for his fan girls. He isn’t a celebrity but his face qualifies him as one of the s€×iest men in Italy. Would you like to meet him?’
‘You know it’s impossible to meet him Valería, not that I care enough to…’
‘You know I work with a cleaning agency,’ Valería cut in smirkingly.
‘And how is that my business?’
‘Yesterday, Ame Allen’s secretary called and booked a cleaner for his penthouse at the rental building he owns. Ame is coming to Finland to launch a new product and finalize his new partnersh¡p with a company.’ She looked at Valería with great interest. I chuckled.
‘And…?’
‘I am the lucky lady that will be cleaning his penthouse during his stay. I will be going today to give the house a nice clean before he arrives tomorrow evening. Until he leaves Finland, I will be his maid…’
‘Valería, let me borrow your job, please!’ Dora pleaded. We burst into laughter.
‘I thought you didn’t care?’ I asked with an innocent look.
‘I care, I care very very much. I will do anything to be his doormat for the day. Please Lerry, let me borrow your job.’ She was already tugging at Val’s sleeve. Valería rolled her eyes with a smile.
‘And your job?’
‘We can switch,’
‘You know it doesn’t work that way,’ I said as a matter-of-fact.
‘It has to work. This is my chance to get a potential husband, someone I love…’
‘He can never love a poor person like you, remember?’ I asked.
‘Ehn, let me just see and steal his shirt, sniff his bed and admire him closer and I’ll be alright. Who knows, maybe I can steal his shoes and marry it. We can have children, don’t you think?’
‘You and his shoes?’
‘Yes, we can fall in love.’ I laughed and looked at Valería who was laughing too.
‘Here’s the plan, go to work today and play sick. Then, you can follow me to work in two days time.’
‘I will rather play sick tomorrow and get a lot of off days. Oh my God! I need to curl my hair! I have to wax my skin…’ She sniffed herself. ‘I need a new scent and new dresses… I need to go to the mall!’ She dashed out of the gym.
‘She does realise she will be wearing uniforms, right?’ I asked chucklingly. Ria smiled and continued her sit-ups. I cleared her mess and went to her room. We lived in a three bedroom apartment, I share a room with her because she insists I never leave her side. In conclusion, I was her servant.
She stood in front of the bed, looking down at her choice of outfit with arms akimbo. She was tying cotton pink towels around her body and head. Her w-t ivory skin shimmering as the morning sun reflected on her through the window. ‘What should I wear? Black empire wa-ist sailor dress with coral wedge sandals, blue high-wa-isted slacks, teal button front top with blue wedge sandals or Florid metallic-tube top with faded denim jeans shorts?’
‘Didn’t you wear those last week?’ I asked, walking over to the closet. I opened it and picked out a indigo mandarin shirt and stonewashed denim jeans shorts. ‘You can wear this with that black ankle boots you bought last week. Where is it?’
‘There,’ she removed the towel from her head. Her platinum blonde hair fell down in it rich curls. Her hair grew as that instead of it original black and white. Her hair was too stubborn at first, combing it was extreme war, getting it to stay put was a greater one. She eventually worked on the hair naturally and it became better. Her hair was naturally glossy and full, too much for her small head and with such quick growth. Her hair fell on the small of her back, it tips naturally black. Her hair colour is beautiful and since it was soft now, it made it more better. ‘What should I do with my hair? The thing is still hærd to comb a little.’
‘Bun, put it up in a bun and please, use your lotion this time and stay away from my perfume.’
‘Stinginess.’
‘You have your own!’
‘Still stingy… Where’s my b-ra?’
‘How would I know?’ She glared at me. ‘Washing machine.’
She grinned. ‘Good boy.’
‘Why do you even like this Ame of a guy? You don’t know him and I heard he is a cruel one.’
‘Will you believe me if I say no?’ She asked, looking at me sadly. ‘I just don’t know but I hope I will find out when I finally meet him in person.’
‘I guess so,’ I agreed. I hope she regains her memory soon and also, Ame should break her heart so she can finally notice my friend who is liking her. She looked at me with her cute eyes and grinned. ‘Not again…’ I whined.
‘Please, help me get my lotion, it’s too far.’ She pleaded sweetly.
‘It is right there!’
‘Young man, what do I pay you for? Get me my lotion.’ She commanded.
‘Yes ma’am.’
To be continued.
Serious coincidence here, am I right?
I have to say this, Ted no try o.
