Guess where I am, just guess. A place close to Italy, one amongst the countries Ted hates a lot. That country was free from mafias because Ted made it so, he feels the country is too holy to have deadly criminals. Sure, there were other minor criminals but serious mafias weren’t allowed there and it made it the perfect hiding sβ‚±0t for Braddock. In other word, Greece. I was in Greece with a new identity.
My name is Oriana Nilly Hemsworth, Ana for short. An American lady who moved from New Haven to Greece to start allover after her a terrible relationshΒ‘p. A lady of twenty nine that was obsess with gold and shiny things, a singer. It wasn’t that hΓ¦rd for Ted to get my IDs and doc-ments. It wasn’t quite hΓ¦rd getting my look. All I did was cut my beautiful hair into a semi long Bob and dyed in pure gold, like into real gold. When you see me coming, you will think I dipped my head into a bucket of liquid gold. That’s that. Next, I had my skin sprayed tan, a tan that wouldn’t wash off for three months. It looked so real I k-ssed the guy that did it.
Thank God Ted didn’t kill him.
Anyways, I had to apply makeup on my face to make me look mature and change my dress style to classy, s€×y but professional. Even my personality but I could handle it, I’m a master of disguise. I won’t forget my eyes, changed that to lavender and pierced my nose. Ted told me he like lady’s with pierced nose and tan skin. That was why I went through all the stress.
So, I sat in the waiting room for the owner of the casino he drops by sometimes. He didn’t come to the casino at any recordable time or had any pattern he follows, just drops by unannounced and never predictable. I couldn’t quite figure him out, that was why I decided to be a regular singer at the casino until he decides to drop by. I drummed my fingers on my th-gh, eyes closed as I recited the plan over and over again.
‘Miss Hemsworth?’ I opened my eyes and offered the secretary who happened to be a l-sbian a sweet smile. She blushed and giggled before catching herself with a cough. ‘Mr. Eurus will see you now.’ I smiled more and stood up, I carried my bag and walked to the door to his office. I opened it and look into the foyer. I walked in and opened the other door that I suspect is soundproof. I walked in and shut the door.
A man sat on a swivel chair behind a large table, four other people were sitting there. Two were females, one blonde, the other a brunette. The two guys were towers, two tan skinned towers with breathtaking faces. I smiled at them all as they checked me out. ‘She’s curvy,’ one of the guy whispered. I chuckled and shook my head.
‘Good afternoon everyone,’ I said softly. And like every human who heard my voice, their face melted and three of them awned. I need to pay God a visit and k-ss his feet.
‘Welcome, you are the last auditioning to complete the band, right?’
‘As it seems,’ I shrugged.
‘Please sit,’ I pulled the chair back and sat down, crossed my legs. ‘What’s your name?’
‘Oriana,’
‘Your accent, American?’
‘Yes,’
‘Are you new here?’ The man asked calmly. I nodded. ‘And what makes you think you can fill in as a lead singer for Zeus? Do you know who the Zeus are?’
‘No,’ I answered plainly. ‘All I know is that I love to sing and I can sing quite well. I’m aware Zeus consisted of five members before the lead singer died. Now, you need a new singer to fill in so the band won’t break and your casino won’t fall. Zeus is one of the reason it’s a big hit.’ I explained causally.
‘Okay, what else do you know? The band members names perhaps,’
‘Not a clue,’ one of the guys giggled. ‘Don’t judge me because I don’t know who they are, I just got into Greece like last week and I needed a job. I heard some girls talking about it so here I am. Anything else?’
‘Hmm,’ the man looked at the four people. Yes! His name is Andrew Eurus, I remember!
‘Guys, you can take it from here.’
‘Thank you Andrew, Oriana, right?’ The tallest and s€×iest guy said.
‘You can call me Orie or Ana, your choice.’
‘My name is Christian, leader of the band and lead guitarist…’ I studied his feature well; he had a sharp sculpted face which was blessed with mesmerizing blue eyes and pink l-ips. He had an aristocratic nose with high cheekbones and nice built body. I could see his hΓ¦rd stomach and strong biceps from his T-shirt. His hair was brown, dark brown taper fade cut hair. Not bad. ‘All you need to do is sing, then we will see if your voice is what we are looking for.’
‘And what are you looking for?’ I asked, leaning back on the chair. ‘What kind of music do you guys even sing?’
‘Audition for what you don’t know, how sweet,’ the blonde one said sarcastically.
‘Christian?’ I asked him, ignoring her.
‘We switch from rock to jazz and poprock, can you keep up?’
‘I can try my best with the rock, not really good at it because I don’t like it but learning is a thing… Jazz? You switch instrument when you wanna go jazz?’ He nodded. I smiled politely, he’s nice.
‘And I guess you s-ck at jazz as well,’ the blonde one again.
‘Anastina, behave yourself.’ Andrew called warningly.
‘Back to you, can you sing attention by Charlie Puth? Make it slower than the normal tone, like a cover.’
‘Alright,’ I cleared my throat and straightened my back.
‘You’ve been runnin’ round
Runnin’ round
Runnin’ round throwin’
That dirt all on my name
‘Cause you knew that I
Knew that I
Knew that I’d call you up
You’ve been going round
Going round, going round
Every party in L.A.
‘Cause you knew that I
Knew that I be at
Be at one, oh
I know that dress is karma
Perfume regret
You got me thinking
’bout when you were mine
And now I’m all up on ya
What you expect?
But you’re not coming
Home with me tonight
You just want attention
You don’t want my heart
Maybe you just hate the
Thought of me with someone new
Yeah, you just want attention
I knew from the start
You’re just making sure I’m never
Gettin’ over you, oh…’ I stopped, looking at them, asking if I did good enough and should continue. I didn’t hate to hide the smirk on my face at their faces. ‘I’m guessing I did well?’
‘That…was…awesome!’ The other guy shouted. He had sculpted jaw, tousled jet black hair and deep dark eyes. He was cute, lighter than Christan. ‘Sing again!’
‘Don’t exaggerate Dennis, she’s not that good.’
‘Are you kidding me Tina! She’s amazing! Her talking voice compliments are singing voice, making it sound like a fallen angel from heaven decided to be a singer… Are you an angel? I can believe you if you say so.’ The other girl voiced out with excitement. I bit my lower lip and giggled.
‘I admit, you did good and since you are the last girl, we don’t mind taking you but under probation, is that alright with you?’ Christian asked with a huge grin.
‘Yes, it is perfect. Can I know all of your names now? I know you are Christian and that it over there is Anastina…’ I pronounced her name like it was germs in my mouth. She scoffed. ‘And you are Dennis, am I right?’ I asked the black haired one. He nodded.
‘Edna,’ the brunette smiled. She had pale green eyes that brought out her face in a sort of way. Her voice was slightly deep, almost masculine but still beautiful. Unlike Tina who had an annoying sharp voice, like a talking mosquito.
‘Nice to meet you all…’
‘How old are you?’ Dennis interjected.
‘Twenty nine,’
‘Do you date younger men?’ Edna smacked his head. ‘Ow! I’m just asking.’ I laughed and shook my head. Except for Miss Snooty, we’ll do just fine.
Two weeks later.
I wasn’t expecting the plan to work so fast, I knew it would be slow but I was missing everyone, missing Italy. I wondered what my family were doing, what Carolyn and dad were doing. She decided that she wanted to be in Italy to take care of Armando who she had bonded with. ValerΓa would be too busy to take care of him, it was perfect. The only thing is that she was with dad and dad was already admiring her. I was scared he would try to use her naivety against her, she wasn’t completely alright but sane enough to have a normal life. I had Armando spy on them and promised him that if he could give me reports on everything that would happen between them, I’d tell him the secret of becoming Yolanda’s only friend.
It was a deal he accepted in a heartbeat.
My mind wondered to Ted, how he was coping. If things didn’t work out fast enough, he would ruin everything with his worry and panic. I don’t blame him, he’s afraid of losing me. ‘Hey,’ Edna called softly, sitting beside me on a chair. We were at the casino getting ready. Christian and Dennis were giving the instrument a proper soundcheck while Tina glued to Christian like a second skin. Over the weeks, I found out that the last singer was Tina’s best friend and Christian’s girlfriend, they loved each other a lot. Now she was gone, Tina was seeing a good green light. Suspicious, I know. But Tina didn’t kill her, I checked. ‘You okay?’
‘Yeah, just missing my family,’ she nodded and laid back on the headrest lazily.
‘What’s up with you? You always seem to go dull when we switch to jazz, why is that?’
‘Jazz is rom-nce to me,’ I lied. It reminds me of Ted.
‘Or your ex,’ she chuckled.
‘Something like that,’
‘Was he cute?’
‘Try heavenly,’ I whispered. She laughed and slapped my arm, something she does all the time. I shook my head and looked at Christan who looked really tired. He looked at me and smiled, inclining his head for us to come over. I tapped Edna and stood up.
The rest of the night went smoothly, me singing as the guys played. Christian was very good with the sax and Edna nailed a trumpet. Dennis and I did more singing because he had a much better voice than the others, one that blends well with jazz tone. Christian can sing quite well but not as well as Dennis when it came to jazz. Edna could sing too, better than Tina who sang like Yolanda. The only reason she was in the band was because she could play most instruments and the ex lead singer was her friend.
We took a break to drink a little when three men came over, all dressed casually but in a similar style. ‘You, come with us.’ One said to me. I rolled my eyes and folded my arms.
‘Why?’
‘You don’t ask questions, you do as told,’ I looked at them from head to toes, looking for the symbol Duncan said all Braddock’s men wear on them; either as tattoos, belts, chains, rings, wristwatch or design. I found it; a golden lightning like a symbol of Zeus’s lightning with two angel wings extending from the lightning. One had his on his wrists as a tattoo, the other as his belt’s buckle and the last has it engraved on his tartan shirt.
‘Okay, guys?’ They nodded. I gave Edna my bag and stood up. I followed them, just let them lead me to the underground VIP section. I put on my sweetest smile, ignoring the cat calls and whistles. They led me to a booth where six ladies were allover a man. When he saw me, he smiled with satisfaction.
‘Sit,’ I folded my arms defiantly, refusing his offer. ‘I won’t harm you,’ I eyed the ladies around him. ‘Oh, I see,’ he chuckled. He snapped his fingers, they all reluctantly left as quick as they could. I exhaled and sat down, crossing my legs as usual. I knew my short gown crinkled up, I did it intentionally. I was now facing the man that was threatening the life of my… Should I call Ted fiancΓ©? ‘I was told you sing here now, Oriana?’
‘Yes, what can I do you for?’ He looked at me, trying to figure me out but I kept my face blank, no emotions or sign of interest. We remained like that for over five minutes until I sighed. ‘Can I go now?’
‘You have a beautiful voice,’
‘Thank you sir, may I?’
‘You don’t know who I am, do you?’
‘Not a clue,’ I shrugged.
‘My name is Joshua, Joshua Amos…’ Liar. ‘How old are you?’ He asked. He had black dyed hair and pale brown eyes, like he was sick. I hate to admit it but he’s quite good looking for a villain.
‘Oriana, like you know.’
‘I like your kind of girl, feisty, polite, decent but yet s€×y. It’s been a while I encounter a stubborn one,’ he stood up, his really tall body towering over mine. ‘You are coming with me.’
‘And why should I do that?’ I snapped. ‘I have friends…’ My breath cut up in my throat as I saw his eyes, the deep glare he gave me that shook my soul. I saw the dangerous man Ted told me about, the man who wanted nothing more than money and power, a man who could end my life if I made a mistake; he was nothing like Ted, this man was worst.
I swallowed and nodded in obedience, genuinely frightened but you know me, I’ll get over it soon. ‘Can I call it a night with the bands first? Please.’
‘I will have information pass to them, follow me now.’ He didn’t give me much time to object, his men yanked me to my feet and pushed me to walk behind him.
Okay Cookie, you need to trend consciously with this one.
To be continued.
Anyways… Cookie’s in!
