TEARS APART
EPISODE 06
 
“Joanna! What are you doing?”
 
Joanna flinched and dropped her hand,powers locking back into hwr body.
 
God! She was just about unlocking….
 
“Answer me,what do you think you are doing!”
 
Joanna slowly turned to look back, coming face to face with Justina who stood akimbo, glaring at her.
 
” I…. I…was only having fun ….”
 
“Fun? Hun,well it doesn’t look as if you are having fun! Don’t do that again, Joanna.
 
Tell me where you can possibly go to should you leave this compound. Think about it!” Justina said softly, coming closer to Joanna who sustained the urge to cry.
 
She was right. Where could she probably go to in this lonely world?
 
But then,she wasn’t going g to allow madam Kofta put her into pr-stitution.
 
“But…” Joanna stammered but Justina cut her short, putting a arm around her.
 
“It’s okay, Joanna. I thought we talked about this yesterday. When you are old enough…I will help you escape.”
 
Just then, Bright emerged and Joanna sadly entered into the car.
 
Bright drove out of the big compound and drove her to school.

“Will you please stop following me..even if it’s just for a minute!
 
I won’t go anywhere! I’m not running away!”Joanna snapped at Bright as he followed her to the cafeteria to buy drink.
 
“I’m sorry, Joanna but madam never instructed me to do so.” Bright replied and Joanna walked sadly away. Bright followed.
 
Just then,she bumped into Ikenna at the cafeteria counter.
 
“Oh. Joanna. Thank goodness you came by today.
And why is your face like that?” Ikenna asked and Joanna looked back towards Bright who stood solidly behind her.
 
“He’s embarrassing me by following me around like this.
I want him gone.” Joanna said as they walked to one of the empty tables.
 
They sat down and Ikenna looked over at Bright who stood close to the door,his eyes on them.
 
“Look …. you can think of a way to deceive him and escape to have some privacy.” Ikenna said quietly, leaning over to Joanna.
 
Joanna glanced at Bright and glanced back at Ikenna.”How?”
 
“Is he going to follow you into the girl’s loo?” Ikenna asked,his brows furrowed.
 
“Yes! It’s annoying.” Joanna said.
 
“But….is there something you are not telling me? Why does a body guard follow you about?” Ikenna asked.
 
Joanna opened her mouth to say something but she only stammered.
 
“Come on, Joanna….tell me. What’s wrong?” Ikenna asked.
 
Joanna tried holding back the tears but couldn’t.
 
The tears started forming and the clouds started changing.
 
The whether changes too and students wondered the cause of the sudden change as they started running back to class.
 
No! I must not cry!
 
Joanna blinked back the tears immediately and the whether started to clear away. Ikenna stared at her.
 
What was happening?” Joanna….you…”
 
Joanna gave up. There was no need trying to hide it again.
 
She told Ikenna the strange things that happens when she yells and when she cries.
 
She expected Ikenna to stand up and run away …..to become scared but Ikenna sat on, looking at Joanna with new recovery.
 
“Amazing!” Ikenna suddenly voiced out.
 
“What? You think it’s amazing!” Joanna asked and Ikenna nodded his head vigorously.
 
“No…I don’t think so. Look….the only thing I need right now is to escape from madam Kofta… she’s going to make me a pr-stitute…!”
 
Joanna stopped, realizing she had let the cat out if the bag. There…she has said it. Now what?
 
“What the hell!” Ikenna exclaimed.
 
“Shhhh. Please…lower your voice. I…. shouldn’t have told you but….you see the reason why I must escape?”
 
Joanna said and Ikenna looked at her,an idea spreading in his head.

After school in the afternoon, Joanna carried her bag with books in her hand and stood up. She looked at Bright.
 
“Wait for me here. I want to submit this books to my teacher.” Joanna said and made to leave but Bright followed her.
 
She stopped and whirled around.” I said you should wait for me in,side here!” She yelled at him.
 
Some students laughed.
 
“I’m sorry I can’t. I will have to follow you.” Bright said and Joanna turned again, going out of the class as Bright followed her.
She hoped their plan would work.
 
She got to the staff room corridor and turned to look at Bright.” Don’t tell me you want to go in there with me?
 
This time around…you will have to stand outside for you can’t come into the staff room.” Joanna said.
 
“Okay. I’m waiting here. Be fast and drop the book so we can go home.” Bright said.
 
Joanna smiled secretly as she pushed the staff room door and entered the large room.
 
She looked around,some students were with the teachers.
 
Some walked about getting things done. The staff room was very busy and no one paid attention to her.
 
A good start.
 
Quickly,she dropped her bag and packed the books in her hand in,side. She ran to the passage leading to the bathroom and looked around.
 
There she saw the little door Ikenna told her about. It led to the fence….. behind the staff room.
 
Quickly,Joanna unlocked the door booth and forced it opened.
 
It made a creaking sound as she opened it w¡der.
 
Joanna looked out and saw it was high above the ground indeed but Ikenna said he would be waiting there to pull her out.
 
Where was he now? Joanna looked about,from the little door but Ikenna was not insight.
 
“God… Please…. Ikenna.. where are you!” Joanna said and almost immediately,she heard his feet, running from the left direction.
 
He came into view, p-nting. Joanna was relieved and impatient at the same time
 
” I’m sorry,I was late.
 
Come on,give me your hands!” Ikenna said and Joanna stretched out as Ikenna grabbed her arms, pulling her out with all his might.
 
Joanna bounced her feet on the ground as she swung her bag to her shoulder.
 
Ikenna got hold of her hand and together they fled the school compound.
 
“The plan worked. You are a genius Ikenna. Thanks so much for saving me.” Joanna said as they held hands.
 
Ikenna smiled at her. “What are friends for!” He said and she smiled back.
 
“But…don’t you have parents? Why are you living with someone who wants you to pr-stitute?
 
You won’t do it will you? You will go to college,right?” Ikenna asked.
 
“I wish…so…too, Ikenna but I don’t think I have a future…..no family… nothing.”
 
“And the strange things happening to you …where do you think it comes from?” Ikenna asked.
 
“I wish I knew. But I don’t know anything about it at all.” Joanna replied.
 
“Well….let’s hurry home so you can meet my mum and then,we are going to do something about this madam Kofta…maybe get her arrested or something.”
 
Ikenna said as he pulled Joanna along, pacifying her.

“Mum! I’m home!” Ikenna voiced out as he came into the house, holding Joanna who looked around the living room.
 
“Don’t be scared. My mum’s really nice to people.
 
She totally not harmful, okay? Just sit…I will go upstairs to call her” Ikenna assured her and left as Joanna nodded.
 
She sat on the sofa and an unseen wave hit her head.
 
“Aahhhh.” She sighed, touching her forehead as she closed her eyes.
 
Her head was forcing her to remember something but she could not.
 
The wave came again and she grabbed her hair in pain.
Her eyes turned blue as she gro-ned, closing her eyes as a blur vision appeared.
 
A crying baby…the cries of a baby filled her head….a woman… snatching a baby away….a woman falling to the ground as she passed out …..a ghost…..in pain,fury,rage….trying to take what belonged to her but couldn’t.
 
The cries of the baby became more louder as Joanna sat.
 
“No!” Joanna jerked her head,her hands going up to cover her ears tightly.” No,no!!” She scre-med.
 
Then the ghost…..gave a loud wail from a long distance….an angry wail as thunder struck…..the thunder sharpened…. running through time and space….as it pierced the baby’s body…the baby’s eyes flew open… turning blue as the thunder circulated her system…her wh0le body ….
 
The baby’s face appeared in her blur vision…and even though it was blur….. Joanna could see it….she could see it clearly that the crying baby was her……..
 
She gasped as she heard footsteps on the stairs.
 
She forced her eyes open and pure blue set of eyes came alive…..so hot a blue that the curtain she stared at started to burn… ………..
