Her friends couldn’t help themselves but laugh, Agatha felt humiliated, I took my leave sooner after that, though getting back at her felt good, I couldn’t help but think over what she said… In this generation that we are in.. Money talks and girls of this generation are all after money, For a young guy my age I should at least have one girlfriend, but no.. I don’t.. Every girl I approach pushes me off like I’m some kind of plague.. I’m not ugly, I’m good looking but even with the looks, Girls don’t seem to take notice in me… Well, if it’s money that will make them notice me.. This life is hærd… People are suffering, and the government aren’t making things any easier… I’ll soon be graduating from the university 🎓 and I have no hope in getting a job, Everyone in my family looks up to me as their hope, My father is old, he’s not as strong as he used to be and my mother is also old as well, she can’t do much and my siblings are young,.. My sister Rabi wants to study 📓 and become a journalist but due to our families low financial income, She can’t go to the university, and now Father wants her to marry… Gone are those days when girls are married off at an early age.. This is a different time.. Women can do better and can contribute to the society… I respect father’s wishes but I also adore Rabi’s dreams, I can’t let her dreams be crushed, Besides its her choice to do what she wants in her life and I’m sure she can do better.

While I was walking home, all these thoughts filled my head… This life itself is a curse, It’s been bombarded with one problems to another, even the rich have their own problems to deal with… That is why when I’m in this disturbing mood, I felt a quiet place and communicate with the animals, Unlike humans, they don’t have as much problem as we do, Their life is even more simpler than ours, all they do is eat, sleep, breed and die.
My powers manifested when I was 10, During that time I was able to hear and understand what the animals were saying, when I told everyone about it, they thought I was making up lies the only person that believed in my power was Rabi , it wasn’t till I was 13, that I realized I could also talk to them and they would answer me.. When ever I was in some kind of trouble, I would to and talk to any animal I see, Conversing with them was exciting and relaxing, I always feel good when I talk to them.
So about a while later, I arrived home, My parents and siblings had gathered outside our verandah enjoying the fresh air.

After that, I left the verandah and went out of the house,… This life is indeed cruel, poverty has made my parents desperate to marry off my sister without even considering her own choice in the matter.. Until I hear Rabi’s choice I won’t allow that union to happen.
While I was outside the house, I found one nice shade under a guava tree and sat in it, In that moment, a couple of Geese came passing by, as soon as they saw me, they began to talk to me.

After that, I laughed for a little while and then sighed in discomfort.. Both of the geese noticed my mood and approached me standing right in front of me.

Rabi and I sat under the shade staring onto the street as people passed by, I turned around and looked at Rabi and saw the look of hope on her face. In that moment, I decided that I would try out for that competition, and win that money, at least not for me, but for my family’s sake.

Riding in,side Ade’s car was fun, I felt excited feeling the wind on my sky as I stretched out my hand, The cool air conditioner of the car made me shiver excitedly as I felt the cold.. It’s sure good to be rich.
After a while, We arrived at Ade’s house, it was magnificent and huge, I knew he was rich but Jesus! His parents must have been millionaires before they died.
As we entered the house, i realize the place was quiet and empty and by empty I meant there were no people in,side the house.

Chioma ➡ Where is everyone?

Ade ➡ They’re here… But you can’t see them.

I removed my shoes and went over to the next room, as soon as I got there, I saw the place was filled with wine from every corner, it wasn’t just any room, it was a wine cellar, I took a bottle and went back to the Living room where Ade was, He had already brought two glass cups from the kitchen, after we popped the bottled, we poured the wine into the glasses 🍺 and made a toast.

After that, we quickly gulped down the beer pouring it down into our throats… I felt my throat twitch as I felt the taste of the wine.

After that, We poured and drank another glass, we kept on doing that until we eventually finished the wh0le bottle.
Both Ade and I became tipsy after that, We sat lazily on the couch 🛋 without a care in the world.

When ever people came to the orphanage to adopt children, they would give them gifts 🎁 and then take them away, I always wanted that kind of treatment, I would always pray so that I may be adopted one day and get that kind of gifts but no one came to adopt me.. I ended up running away from the orphanage.. I began to beg for food but those heartless people would just pass by without even listening to my plead, I was a kid, couldn’t they at least consider that?
Then when I was 10, My powers kicked in, I saw standing close to one woman’s shop, she sold delicious snacks and drinks, I watched with desperation in my eyes as I swallowed my saliva, my stomach began to rumble out loud begging for food, in that moment, the woman came out and saw me, she didn’t bother to feel sorry for me, she began to bark at me like a dog.

Lady ➡ Get out of here.. Stupid girl.. Get away from here.. Bad luck child.

Despite her ravings I refused to move, my eyes were fixed on her snacks, When she saw I wasn’t going to move, she came at me trying to beat me, I quickly grabbed her hand and begged her to give me one of her snacks and to my surprise.. She did as I said without any hesitation.
I couldn’t believe it at first but as I kept doing that and trying it on different people, I was convinced I had a gift, at first it was food, then I moved to clothes, then money.
