THE NEXT DAY

JACK POV

I walked into to my office only see a large bouquet of flowers on my table.

“What’s this?”I asked my secretary

“Oh! It’s the lady that was here a while ago,where could she be?”I heard Jenny Say and just then the rest room door opened to reveal Andrea.

“Oh you are here”she said giving me a smile and looking s€×y in her business attire.

“What are you doing here?”I asked surprised

“I just came to appreciate you, the flowers might feel a bit cheesy to you but it’s a way of saying thank you from me”

“You didn’t have to Andrea?”he said

“I have to, you helped me yesterday,it will be rude of me not to come and say thank you”she said

“But you know I was going to come and see you?”he said

“I know but I still had to come say thank you and also I have to tell you about Mary “she said

“What happened to her?”I said

“Nothing serious,I just want to ask for a favour “she said

“What?”

“Well you know Mary was here for the audition and she didn’t get the chance to do the audition because I took her away,so can you please give her an audition?”she asked

“Of course I can”I said giving her a smile.

“But why did you change your mind?”I asked

I don’t want to regret it, I don’t want to feel guilty that I stopped her from doing what she like”I said

“You are a very good mother”I said as I walk towards her

“And you have been a very good father”she said giving me a smile

“Thanks again jack, Mary will be coming for the audition today”she said

“Fine then,I will be waiting for her and don’t forget tonight “I said

“I won’t,have got to head work “she said and waved me off.

I won’t be losing her to Max again, this time I will fight for her.

MAX POV

I walked into Move company, i cant believe that Jack had decided to go into music.

He has made it well for him self over the past sixteen.

I walked towards the receptionist giving her a smile,a smile which she melted from.

“Am here to see your boss”

“The boss is in a meeting with some one, you will be called up soon”she said giving me a smile.

“Miss Blake, you dropped some thing”She said to some one who was passing by

The Blake caught my attention but I didn’t look at the person,it wasn’t until the Blake lady replied that I stood rigid.

“Oh thank you “she said and began to walk off.

I turned only to see Andrea leaving the company, she looked much older but she is still very beautiful.

“Who is that lady?”I asked

“She is Andrea Blake,a friend of the boss,have seen a lot of his mistress buy boss Jack some thing but have never seen one who gives him a flower”she said

“Did she give him flower”I asked

“Yes, she did, wait aren’t you going to see the boss……” I didn’t wait to listen to her because I ran after Andrea.

I got out side only to see her getting into a taxi.

Quickly I went to my car and went after the taxi.

I can’t believe that after all the years apart from each other, I will be seeing her like this.

From what I heard from the secretary, she had referred to her as a miss and not a Mrs.

Didn’t she ever get married,I thought as I kept driving after the taxi.

The taxi stopped and she got out of the car, she had a lovely smile on her face and she stood by the street waiting for the lights to change, so she could Cross the street

I opened the door wanting to go to her and then I stopped when I remembered some thing

“If you keep on seeing her, she will get hurt, I mean it Max, she will get hurt!”

Slowly I got back into the car and stared at her from afar..

What have been longing for is to see Andrea again and when I did see her, I can’t go to her, I thought as I stared at her Crossing the Streets.

She went into a big company and I checked the company name only to see that it is the soul interior company that had been mentioned by my secretary.

I had totally forgot it because I was thinking about Daniel and Rose who came back here.

Quickly I picked up my phone and called my secretary

“Is the soul company still waiting for us ?” asked

“Yes they are, why are you……..”

“Set an appointment with them “I said quickly..

MARY POV

Feeling so very excited, I walked into Move company.

Mom had some how got an appointment for me!”I thought as I went to the room where I will be auditioned.

I stopped when I saw James and his band in the room.

I tried to move away before any one saw me but I was too late

“Hey it’s you!”he said coming towards me

“Yes it’s me, can you tell me where the audition will be taken place?” I asked

“Not even a greeting or a I love you James, my fans always say that to me”he said

” Like I told you that day, am not a fan of yours and if you won’t tell me where the audition room is? I will find it myself”I said moving past him

“She just reject you!”his band mates yelled and i began to walk off,thinking he would have given up but I stopped short when I saw him beside me

“You know , you are the first girl to treat me this way” he said

“And !”

“And I think I like it”he said and I stopped to stare at him

“Quit messing around and go to your band mates”I said turning to leave but he held my hand

“What now?”I asked

“The audition room is here”he said

“Oh! Thanks”I said walking in only to stumble on some thing, I fell on the floor with all the content In my bag spilling out.

James stood looking at me and I felt so embarrassed.

“Are you okay?”he asked as he helped me to take my stuffs

“Am alright, just go away !”I said still feeling embarrassed.

“Let me help”he said still picking up my stuff.

I picked it all and put it in my bag but I found him starring at Jupiter high form.

“Don’t tell me you will be attending Jupiter high too?”he asked

“Stop being meddle some and go away “I said

“I think that have just found a purpose”he said giving me a smile and then he walked off.

JAMES POV

I barged into my father office and he looked at me in surprise

“Where are your manners James!”he said

“Am sorry but I just want to tell you that have decided to go to Jupiter high”I said

“Really? What changed your mind?”he asked

“Some one I find interesting “I replied and he gave a suspicious look

“Who is this girl?”he asked

“Just some one”I replied

“Have never seen you acting this way because of a girl, what did she do to get you this excited”he asked

“Well she treats me differently, she doesn’t act crazy or tells me she likes me on the first day that she sees me “I said

Have been accustomed to girls pushing them selves at me but meeting Mary have changed that.

Slowly my mind drifted off to the day that I took her home

“You seem a bit sad,you were all smiling when you got into the car a while ago “I said as I drove her home

“Really!”She asked as she stared at me

“Yes! You should smile,you look very s€×y when you do?” I said

“Tell me what are your thoughts really?”she asked

“About you?”I asked

“What do you think?”she asked

“Well I do think you very s€×y and I find you attractive”I said

“Really! Is that what you think?”she asked

“Yes and you should be lucky because the best compliment have ever given to a lady”I said feeling smug

“Then your compliment s-ck!”she said and i stared at her

“What?”

“You know I once liked you because your songs are superb but now that I met you in person, I hate my self for even listening to your song”

“Why do you say that?”I asked as I parked the car

“I was expecting you to say some thing else but your head wasn’t doing the talk, it’s your libido that is, your money and fame isn’t every thing James, there are people who aren’t attracted to that your compliment won’t get me into your bed”

“But I never ……..”

“That was what you meant James and am sorry I will have to decline, I have some thing better to think about, find those willing girls,they would suit you perfectly” she said and for the first time in a while, I found my self speechless.

Her attitude had gotten to me and some how I havent been able to get her out of

MAX POV
Slowly I drove back home, I didn’t go back to move company neither did I want to go home, If I could,I wanted to be alone, I thought and just then some where popped in mind and I went there.

I drove into Jupiter high and once I had introduced my self to the school head, he was so happy to see me again and he told me to explore the grounds as much as I want,the school was having a summer break and so there wasn’t many students or teacher in the school.

Slowly I walked around the school and as I did so, memories kept coming back to me.

I got to our class and smiled when I remembered every one seat, I went to take my seat by the window and I turned to look at Andrea, some how I saw her sitting on the chair, giving me a discreet smile and also waving at me.

It felt so real that for a while I thought it was real and I wanted to wave back but I stopped myself

Is this my missing Andrea? I thought, it’s been years but I haven’t been able to forget her, though I asked her to forget me,I havent been able to do that.

My leaving her years ago wasn’t some thing I wanted but I had to, I had to leave her to protect her ,slowly I drifted off to the past.

SIXTEEN YEARS AGO
(On the day of Max confrontation with his dad)

“Why the hell do you insist on this,have told you that I don’t want Rose, I will work in the company, I will make it grow with out the help of Rose family, can’t you trust me to take care of the company myself “I said

“There is no such thing as your self, to get a company running and functioning well, you must have a back bone and that will be Rose ”

“When you fall, she will be there to help you up, she will be your option B when Option A fails, only Rose can do this, Andrea can’t do it and you want to know why?”he asked

“She has nothing to offer you, she is poor and you are rich and ………..”he finished

“Why are you like this, you were once poor, you along with mom, that is also why you left Nick and I at the orphanage, you left so you could become rich, have being rich blinded you for good ?”I asked

“It made me realise what life is when you are poor, do you think your mom and I wanted to leave you two there? I can still remember that day clearly, she couldn’t stop crying because she left her children there and I vowed on that day to make it so that you and Nick will never have to go through what your mom and i went through”

“I built this empire for you and your brother and unfortunately your brother is gone, you are the only one left and I won’t let you throw away every thing just for a girl who is not worth it “he finished

“Andrea is worth every of my time, just as you love mom, I love Andrea, can’t you just let go of this marriage thing between Rose and I?”I asked

“No and I think have had enough talking to you two on this, I thought Andrea will be sensible enough to leave and never come back but it turns out that she is a fool just like you and so I must teach you two the hærd way, come with me”he said as he began to walk out of his study.

“Why do I have to follow you?”

“I have to show you why you must leave Andrea and I suggest you come with me before it’s too late”he said having a cruel smile on his face.

Wanting to know what it is,I went after him and together we left in his car

His driver drove to the busy streets beside jupiter high and parked right at that s₱0t

“Why are we here?”I asked starring at him

“Do you see that car parked over there?”he asked pointing to a particular car

“Yes ”

“The man there have been hired to kill some one, he will certainly hit the person and drive off as fast as he can”

“Did you hire him and who will he hit?”I asked

“Look over there”he pointed to some one and I was shocked to see Andrea running towards the zebra crossing.

She stood there with a smile on her face just waiting for the lights to change so she could run past.

“As soon as that light change ,he will drive straight at her and kill her “my father said beside me

“No dad! What are you saying?”I asked as I tried to get out of the car.

“One move and she dies!”he said

“Why are you doing this?”I said as I stayed back

“This is the only way to make you two see reason,it’s either you call it off now or she dies right now and even if you get to save her, her life will always be in danger because I won’t rest until she dies and of she dies, she will be out of your life for good”he said

“You aren’t that cold blooded dad!”I said softly

“Try me and I will show you that I am merciless when it comes to getting what I want”he said and that got me feeling bad

I stared at Andrea who stood by the road waiting for the lights to change and then at the car which would hit her once she tries to cross.

“If I promise not to see her again, will you leave her alone? Will she be Save?”I asked and he nodded softly

“That depends on you Max, once you decide to call it off,I want you to show it to her,i want you to leave her in the worst way possible, break her heart if you must,if that will make her see that you don’t love her again, I will be good about and then you must also promise your marriage to Rose, do all this and your precious Andrea will be saved”he said

It was hærd for me to decide but if I don’t do it, Andrea would die right there and if I do what he asks of me, Andrea will be saved.

“Hurry up Max, the lights will go off Soon and it will be bye bye Andrea, what are you going to pick?”he asked

“Fine then, stop what you are doing and I will break it off with Andrea and be with Rose just as you want”I said quickly and though I regret my actions, I couldn’t take it back and it’s for the best, Andrea safety depends on this.

He picked up his phone and called the person in the car and after talking for a while the car drove off and I saw Andrea walking to the other street and am sure that she was heading to the cafeteria I asked her to meet me.

“Can I leave this car?”I asked

“I hope you aren’t going after her, have told you that she will die if…….”

“And have heard you! I won’t be going to her, her safety is more important to me and I chose to give her that than to be with her,you win dad, so just let me get out of this car”I said and he did as I said.

The next day was filled with so much pain because I told her to stay away and it hurt doing it but I had to all else father will harm her.

But she didnt believe me and so I called her to the garden to talk to me

“Oh max” she said as she ran into my arms

I held her for a while,I wanted to hold her forever if possible but I knew that I couldn’t do that and so I pushed her away

“I didn’t ask you to come here so we can do that?”I said

“Then why have you asked me to come here?”she asked having an innocent look on her face and that made me feel so guilty.

“To give you this !” I said giving her the envelope

“What’s this?”she asked

“Just have a look”I said

“Fine then”she replied and tore the envelope to have a look

“What’s this?” She asked as she stared at the plane ticket.

“It’s a plane ticket, another copy of the one I tore,I booked it my self “I said

“Why?”

“I want you to leave just as my father have said “I said

I wanted her save and it’s the only way to do it,I thought

“To leave?”

“Yes, leave this place and start over, I don’t want to feel guilty”

“And why will you feel guilty max?”

“I broke it off with you, each time I see you,I feel guilty and I don’t want to feel that way again “he lied

“Guilty, so you don’t love me any more?”she asked

“Do I have to say that too?”I said clenching my hands.

“Yes you have to? What is wrong with you Max? Why the hell are you pushing me away?”she asked

” I already told you why am breaking up with you?” If only I could tell you,I thought within me.

“Lies,they are all lies,I don’t believe it!”she said softly

“Well you will have to believe it, I don’t want you any more Andrea, so stop this and quit pestering me” I said

“Does loving you mean that am pestering you?”

“Yes, your love is being a bother to me and I don’t want it any more, so find some one else to give it to” i said and turned to leave but she stopped me by holding me on my wa-ist.

“Please Max, don’t do this to me, I love you so much”she said and i stood fighting the urge to take her in my arms.

“But I don’t love you and if you know what is good for you, you will leave this place and never come back'”I said pulling free and being cruel to her

“What? I should leave and never come back?”she asked

“Yes, leave Andrea and never come back”i said turning towards her

“I can under stand you wanting me to leave but to never come back, that’s so cruel!”she said looking so hurt and I felt like a bastard for hurting her feelings

“It’s not cruel,as have said your love is a bother to me and if I keep on seeing you ,it won’t let me do the right thing with Rose” I continued with my lies

“What are you doing with Rose?”

“Am getting engaged to her next week and it’s for real this time”I said and I saw the colour leave her face

“So leave, leave Andrea and never come back, this is the last thing I will do for you”I said leaving the garden with tears threatning to pour.

I stopped when I heard her crying and I turned wanting to go back to her but then I remembered what my dad said and I went into the house.
