TEMILADE RELOADED episode 13
************************
I scre-med, lamented with no body to help. I tried John’s number but was switched off. I pinged him no reply. I later alerted security agency about the incident. About 2hrs later
they came with ambulance. Every workers in our house was arrested that night except me. Very early the following day I went down to John house to give him both good
and bad news. When I got to his door, I heard him arguing on top of his voice with some boys that he hasn’t give them order to kill him. I was frightened for that word. Did
john killed my father? No! What could be my father offence?? A thought came to my heart that I should just dash in to show them that their secret has been exposed. But another thought said I should run for my dear life. I quickly took my leave before they detect me since I parked my car few meters to his gate. Before I reached home police have came to carry out investigation on the crime scene. I went to police station to know how far. They’ve brutally tortured our gate man and gurd to the fullest. They asked me if chief had a quarrel with anybody which I said no. Other qusetions was asked which I answered skipping all John’s aspect.
When I came back from police station, I was tormented with my conscience that maybe I should inform police to arrest John as prime suspect. But I
later gave it a second thought that if John is eventually find guilty, that means I would loss him as well. NO! I can’t destroy the house I have been
building over 6yrs. After several consolation from friends and associates I resumed back to office. A week later John came to meet me at work pleading that he was rubbed after leaving our house that very day. I shook my head with total disbelieves.
He was shocked when I explained how I came to his house to him. He prostrated crying that his friend took
decision out of his conscent. How do you got to know those rascals in the first place? I asked. I was rescued by them from a robbery incident then in school before I was initiated into their group. Are you a cultist? No! Then who are those boys? Please let’s forget about that. Hmmm!
You use your parochial interest to kill my father. You are wicked John! I walked him out of my office that day.
After several days of pleas, I forgave him. Not only
that, I made him the manager of one of my dad companies. Three months later we did an elaborate wedding. After fourteen months of marriage, I was unable to conceive. My
husband started keeping late night. If I asked why?
He complained about traffics. Men with their lies!
I forgot a file at home one day. I took bike to make it snappy. On getting in,side I caught my husband and
my best friend on our matrimonial bed. Had I know, I would have divorce him then. He pleaded that he
won’t do it again. Not quite long that my husband
brought the same lady to me that she’s carrying his baby. I received the lady with joy.
At middle of night I was terrified with thought of
being cheated which made me stabbed him to death.
Hmmm! Without knowing that I was equally had a
7weeks pregnancy. I was charged to court which led
me to life imprisonment.
Adejoke: (look regretful) I’m
very sorry ma.
Me: so pathetic! Men are heartless infact most of them are animals they did not deserve to live in the
midst of humanbeing.
Adejoke: where is that your baby?
Banga: he was in Orphanage home.
Me: is Banga your real name?
Banga: no, I’m Maryam by name.
Me: why are they calling you Banga?
Banga: that was name given to me by fellow inmates.
Adejoke: how old is your son now?
Banga: 15 years.
Adejoke: you’ve spent almost sixteen years here?
Banga: yes.
Me: as he visit you before?
Banga: no!
Adejoke: but why?
Banga: I don’t want him to know since he will eventually ask why I’m in prison.
Me: you have your point.
Adejoke: who is handling
your father property now?
Banga: my lawyer.
Me: as from today we will be calling you by your real name ma.
Adejoke: yes, finding yourself in prison does not mean your integrity and honour is gone.
Me: besides I want you to stop smoking and all sort of hooligance character you imbibed.
Maryam: I wil……… Before she could reply she fell down coughing with blood coming out  of his mouth. We shouted HELP! HELP!! WARDERESS!!!
**************************
I wonder why people smoke when its emphatically written that “smokers are liable to die young”. Albeit, ones food is anothers poison nevertheless our health superceed all other things.
Her condition was too critical for them to handle in the prison hospital. Fifteeb minutes later, an ambulance
took her to a hospital out of prison. She spent two months before she was returned.
She had tuberculosis coupled with cancer. Thus we became G3 among the inmates, though Maryam is older thanme and Adejoke.
When ever maryam lawyer comes to visit her, all of us do go together.
I was lying down in the cell one day, when an inmate started touching my body.
When I raised my head up she said she loves me that she would like to be my husband. What! Ahudubilahi
mina saytoni rojim(I seek refuge in Allah from anchor of devil), I was like tearing her into pieces. I have heard series of rumors about her being l-sbian with several rape case. I reported her to the provost of the cell and she was punished according to their law. With my experience in Prison is a place of re-branding pending on individual choices. A robber can later becomes a good citizen while an innocent can later becomes the most wanted criminal.
It was 1st day of the year, we were offering thanksgiving to God for sparing our lives to new year, When a wardress with a mopol came to our cell. They called out 5 amongst the inmates which G3 included.
They took us out of cell to a field. When we got there, I
discovered that it was Chief judge of the state that want to see us.
He asked about our files, after series of checking and signing which took approximatelty fourty five minutes. Thirty inmates was set free including Maryam, Adejoke and myself.
At last Temilade is out of prison glory be to God in the highest, I prostrated thrice for God. Maryam called her lawyer who came to pick us after about thirty minutes. We drove to Maryam father’s mansion
infact nothing like freedom. I got to know drinking
garri in ones freedom is better than eating turkey in captivity. We slept like never before in our lives. The
following week Adejoke, Maryam and her lawyer went to prison to collect birth certificate of their sons. Three days later, lawyer handed over all her doc-ments back to her for proper maintenance.
I was made the General manager of her company
and Adejoke as a supervisor of all the companies.

Maryam was really our appointed benefactor, she
obtained visa for Itan and her son Ayomide to complete their education abroad. She travelled to U.S.A for medical attention three months later. We were left in Nigeria to take care of her companies.
When we came back from work one faithful day I called Adejoke to living room………. ..
me: don’t you think of looking after your dad?
Joke: yea, I have been thinking on how to get him.
Me: if you get him eventually, what would you do?
Adejoke: I just want him to know I’m still alive.
Me: ok. That’s a good thought.
Adejoke: what do you think?
Me: let just pray to God to direct us on what to do.
Adejoke: amen o. What is
Dupe cooking?
Me: I don’t know.
Adejoke: Dupe!!!!!
Dupe: yes ma.
Adejoke: what are you cooking?
Dupe: fried rice.
Me: please be quick.
Dupe: yes ma.

We gisted for almost fifteen minutes laughing out loud as Dupe entertained us with jokes.
Me: a thought came to my mind about the wardress that promised we would be release then.
*********Flash Back***********
Adejoke, Maryam and I were under a shaddy tree one day, discussing the attitude of some inmates. Adejoke shared how she nearly die to the hand of a rapist in the middle of night before a wardress safe her. Few minutes later, a wardress came to us; she sat in our midst as if she was inmate. She gave us lot of words of encouragement. Before she left she promised us that we would be release very soon. We took her for best comedian of the year not until the very first day we were released.
*************present************
Adejoke: oh yes, I have even forgot.
Me: don’t you think we should go to appreciate her?
Adejoke: yes we owe her.
Me: I suggested we go next week Tuesday.
Adejoke: that will be very good. Lest I forget, Mr Tayo sent me to you.
Me: I have told him to stop bothering himself all I
need now is full concentration on my job.
Adejoke: Temilade you are not growing younger
anymore try to observe him, this guy really love you.
Me: ok I have heard you, I will look into it.
Adejoke: better you do.
Me: how is Mr Bright?
Adejoke: he’s fine o.
We later went to dinning table for our dinner. At around 12:30am I heard Adejoke scre-ming. I rushed
down to her room to inquire what happened. I met
Adejoke sweating like an athletic who just completed 300km race.
Me: what happened?
Adejoke: I had a terrible nightmare.
Me: what did you saw?
Adejoke: I saw myself pregnant, walking around a tree. Suddenly I saw
someone requesting for the pregnancy. I told him I can’t give him during this argument, he turned to a spirit and stretched his hand forth. Before I know it, the pregnancy disappeared.
Me: hmmm! This is terrible indeed. Let go and do ablution.
We went to bathroom for the ablution, we offered two rakat nafilat. We recited some Chapter in the Qur’an to avert any form of evils.
After an hour we went to my room and slept together. I woke very early the following day to observe my prayer after which I rushed down to
bathroom.
At 7:30am, I drove down to my mum
apartment. When she saw me, she started jumping up and down shouting Alhamudulilah.
My siblings are not exception I was nearly fell down because of the way they rushed to me. My mum later took me to her room.
Mum: my jewel, my darling how did you do it? Has your jail term completed?
Me: I will explain relax ma.
Mum: tell me please dear.
Me: I was released by Chief judge of this state on the basis I don’t know. Maybe Allah hears our prayers, I don’t know.
Mum: you mean you was given state pardon by chief Judge?
Me: yes mum.
Mum: Alhamudulilah! How great you are the most merciful and beneficent.
Me: Oluwaseun! Temilade has came back to take her family to greater height.
Mum: yes Alhamudulillah, when did they release you? why you don’t return home?
Me: I was released on january first with a friend of mine, she was the one that took me to her house infact I was currently working in her company as the general manager.

Apart from that, how do you want me to return to a place where they thought I won’t return from jail like that?
Mum: who owns the car you brought?
Me: that’s my official car. My mum could not hide her joy as she embark in shedding
tears of joy……………….
Mum: how I wish your father is alive today! Alas, he suffered all through his lifetime.
me: stop crying mum God has answered your prayer
and long time fasting: fate is something you can’t change ma. One of article of faith in Qur’an is Destiny.
You can’t change it, that’s how God planned our lives.
Me: Abiodun! You and your sister Go and bring those bags in the car.
Mum: that your friend is such a nice person. She took good care of us during your stay there.
Me: you mean Clarion?
Mum: yes.
Me: may God reward her accordingly.
Mum: amen. where are you living now?
Me: I and the other friend of her were living in her house. I will come tomorrow to pick you so that I can show you the house I want to rent for you and where I’m living.
Mum: may you be more successful in whatever you lays your hands on.
Me: amen. I gave her twenty thousand for upkeep of the house.
I later collected Clarion number and left for my Alfa(arabic teacher) house.
