🌹CHAPTER 32🌹
Matilda’s innocence needs to be proved ASAP these guys are so determined to put her behind bars… Anita said

You heard him say she might be executed, so it means they wanna make her go through what she made their parents go through… Chris replied her

“Let’s just leave here already and stop the discussion. We need to meet my lawyer so she would prepare to help her get vindicated Anita’s boss said.

I have to pick something which is the phone that has the text messages on and the copies of her health record at my apartment so I think we need to stop there first. The doctor said

They branched there and proceeded to the lawyer’s office afterwards. “Please just help me fight for the lady’s justice, we all know she’s innocent but just don’t have concrete evidence like our opponent does. I promise to pay you any amount in as much as you make sure she doesn’t get wrong judgement” Anita’s boss said

These can be used to buy time for further investigation. I’d use this at her first trial at least to make sure the judge doesn’t pass the final judgement till we get more evidence.

These things can never be accepted to prove them wrong. The video shows her at the crime scene with a knife in her hand. It can easily be used to get her to jail. The lawyer replied. “I’ll try my best to help her though” he added.

SOMEWHERE IN GERMANY
I think it’s high time we get down to that country. We musn’t allow those guys get another person false fully accused again, this time we must act fast because those evidence they have is strong enough to make them win the case in the court. A woman said to someone on the phone.

I’ll have my things packed up now and leave first thing tomorrow morning. I’ve had enough of their action already, you can take care of the house for me while I’m away… She said again.

CHRIS’s POV
The day of the first trial came and we all went to the court and took our respected seats as we got there, while the lawyer took his seat beside Matilda who look half dead and a prosecutor beside John who was there as the victim.

The session started and all we did was watch keenly as the prosecutor and the lawyer argued with each other while Matilda only stared at the space with her face saying it all that she’s lost in thought.

The session ended after some time and the judge adjourned the case till the following week. I watched with sadness as Matilda was dragged away and as John and his brother watched them do so without making any attempt to stop them. “What was I thinking? They can’t do anything not after the law is involved” I said to myself as I snapped out of my thought.

“We shouldn’t rest till we also find more ways of winning the case” I said as we all got outside. “I thank everyone of you for your support and I’m really grateful to have you here. Thank you so much lawyer, I hope to see more of your competence in the next trial” I said and they all replied with “it’s nothing, we just have to keep fighting for justice”

I think we should get her mall reopened. I learnt it was shut down because Gabriel asked her secretary to and the last time I checked, no one added a dime to the money she spent in setting her business up. I’d stop by and get it re opened and will make sure I employ another workers if the previous ones aren’t willing to work for her again… Anita said

“You can’t do that alone, I’ll join you in doing that. The guy must really gave git some nerves, I wonder if he was thinking she wouldn’t get anyone to patronise her again after the news spreading ” I replied

Why would they go that far in destroying her totally? Those patronising her mall don’t know who the owner is after all, so what’s with the sudden shut down of the place? I guess he wanted to ar-use suspicions…Desmond also said.

“We have to go now, we’ll talk on phone” I said and we all departed for
I put a call a cross her secretary and asked her to summon every one working at the mall to be present before my arrival. I think she did just as I said because we met them all waiting in the Mall.

“I’m sorry you had to stop working for a while, I’m here to tell you all to reopen the mall and let it be as it has always been” I said

Excuse me sir, we didn’t shut it down due to our personal reasons but because we were asked to shut it down. I think Mr Gabriel wouldn’t like it if we reopen it without his consent… The secretary replied.

Let him come and try shit with us if we all won’t kick his ass out. We all know he said that because he reported our boss for committing murder in the past which we all know there must’ve been a reason why she did that if she eventually happens to be the one.

No one is ready to dig further. What if his parents did something to her first or her family first? Excuse me sir, the mall will be reopened now and we’re starting work immediately… One of the employees said which totally brought joy to my heart.

Please don’t hesitate to call my attention if he comes here and tries anything silly, okay? I said

“Yes sir” They said in unison and started working immediately. Before I knew it, everything came back to life.

We worked tirelessly for evidence to fight against the prosecutor, but all our efforts were in vain as we couldn’t get more than what we had before.

With lump in out throats and sadness in us, we walked into the courtroom on the day of the final trial that’d determine Matilda’s fate.

The session started as it did before and they both engaged in serious argument as they both quoted verses from various law books to back their words up.

The session finally came to an end and the courtroom went silent as a graveyard as everyone awaited the judgement. I watched as Anita wept with Desmond consoling her. I tutted to shrug the thought of Matilda not been able to survive the situation off my head and focus on the chief judge.

The judge was about passing judgement when we started hearing some noise which made us wondered what could be happening outside. Our curiosity was satisfied a bit when the door to the courtroom flew open and some people walked in

🌹CHAPTER 33🌹
MATILDA’S POV
My eyes that were shut as I await the judgment that’s about to passed to me opened immediately I heard the sound of the door opening and the wh0le courtroom being silent. I had to open my eyes to know what’s happening around me and my eyes locked with the woman who was walking towards the judges with a man walking behind her.

My heart beat faster as the thought of them being Gabriel and john’s parent who was claimed to have been killed by me came to my mind, because it’s too obvious that they’re, as Gabriel and John look so much like them.

Mom! Dad! We all heard John and Gabriel call and the couple directed their gazes which was on me at them. “Yes! We’re the one, and I’m glad you still recognise us” the woman said with a smile and noise erupted from the crowd as they all stared at them in confusion.

I said it! I knew it! My friend isn’t a murder. John! Gabriel! You both are dead meats when we get outta here. Congratulations bestie! She said and winked at me while Chris only stared at me with pity written allover his face. I’m sure he wouldn’t know if he should be happy or sad

I sighed heavily and shut my eyes to try to check if I could recollect what had happen in the past. I gro-ned as I felt my head spinning due to the stress I made my brain go through.

I didn’t give up, instead I kept trying till some memories came appearing. It started from the part where the call our housekeeper had from my mom that day made me ran to John’s parent house alone since my sister isn’t around to go with me and I sneaked out of the house without our housekeeper’s knowledge.

I had to run down there because I heard they wanted us to be at the surprise party they wanted to throw for their sons. I’ve always wanted to meet them due to the way they hype their sons.

Mom actually told our housekeeper to get us dressed before she arrives to come pick us up but as the mule that I am, I paid deaf ears to her and acted on my own and went there.

I scre-med my lung out as I got there and met them lying lifelessly on the floor. I removed the knife from her tummy and ran out to call help after putting pressure on their tummy to stop their bleeding since that was what I could think of due to my young age.

Another scene that came to my head was where I was playing hide and seek with a friend and I mistakenly fell from the building when I was looking for a place to hide.

Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggghhhhh! I gro-ned as the pain I feel became intense after forcing myself to remember the past and I could no longer remember anything. I stood up holding my head as I started feeling tipsy.

I woke up and found myself in a room with some things connected to my skin. “I must’ve passed out due to the stress” I thought.

Oh! You’re awake! Are you okay? Mrs Thomas asked and I nodded. “I’m so sorry you had to pass through all these, we actually came here to prove your innocence. I’m so sorry for not getting to you on time” she apologised.

If only she knows how much I hate her and her family right now, she wouldn’t be here talking to me. I saved them that very day and here I am getting punished because everyone failed to believe I didn’t kill them.

“It’s fine” I lied just to make them disappear from my sight. “Thanks for saving us that day. We would’ve loved to compensate you, but it took us a long time to recover and y’all were gone by the time we regained our strength” Mr Thompson said too and I scoffed.

“It’s nothing” was the only thing I could say.

Could you please tell us what’s happening? Did she truly kill you two? How did you survive? How did you get here? All these and some other ones are the questions the reporters we met at the entrance of the courtroom asked.

Please come into the courtroom if you want me to give you answers to the questions you’ve asked and please make sure you stream everything I would say and do live… Mrs Thompson replied and we proceeded to the room.

Please stand into the witness box and tell us all you have to say… The chief judge said.

“I wouldn’t wanna do that. I’d rather stabs here and tell everything to the world so her name would be cleared” She said.

“Matilda isn’t a murderer but a life saver. She’s put saviour whom we would be forever grateful to” She started and stood properly to face the cameras facing her.

Her family was ruined because of us. It’s the guilt that’d forever be in my heart and my husband’s forever. She was at the scene that day because she’s supposed to. The evidence you all have was made by our murderer who was executed months ago. He’s someone you all know, the same person who killed Matilda’s parents and sister because she helped us live.

She removed the knife from my tummy and tried her best to stop our bleeding before running out to call for help. I know all these because I was still a bit conscious while she was doing all these.

I urge the judges to close this case this instant and I’d like to file a law suit on her behalf for false allegations and infliction of bodily harm. Dear reporters, I want the new to go viral so a lot of people would learn from Matilda’s story.

I think this proves this country’s leadersh¡p incompetency. Our security system has become so lax and our leaders aren’t doing anything to it since they’re affected. Besides, Lot of people hated her already not minding if the accusations are true or not. I’m sure there’s a lot to learn from this… She said

Mom what do you mean by all these? Do you any evidence to back all you’ve said up or you’re one of her sympathisers who are here to make sure she doesn’t get punished according to the law… Gabriel said and that made Anita and some people give a loud hiss.

Oh my dear son! I didn’t know you’re this scatter brained. You growing up without us must’ve made you a stupid man. How dare you say that to my face when you ought to be feeling guilty for not truly believing in who you call friend!!! She replied angrily
