The Fierce Chase (episode 6)
Persistence is the major key to unlocking any door or opportunity in life and winning a love interest isn’t excluded too. Most times, a persistent person stands a high chance winning over someone they like and want a relationsh¡p with. They are aware that the more they push the narrative that they are into you or want you, the weaker your defence to block or stop them becomes. You might tell them “No” countless times but that “No” stands a chance of becoming a “Yes” the more they creep into your heart through one way or the other. It’s safe to say that Kelvin was a persistent man that would stop at nothing till Paris becomes his. Despite the fact that he knew she was Taken and not available, that didn’t stop him from going after her with full force. On the other hand, Paris wasn’t too vocal and intense about her disapproval of Kelvin’s advances otherwise, he might have slowed down or vanished from her life. Gradually, a love triangle was forming but only Jason was still in the dark.
When Kelvin got to Paris table and asked if she missed him, she was dumbfounded. At that moment, words failed her to properly come at him the way she truly wanted to. It suddenly felt as though her will power to put him in his place ‘once and for all’ was gone. After about a minute of being mute, she finally spoke up.
“What exactly do you want from me Kelvin? What in God’s name do you want from me? I have told you countless times that I am not the girl for you but it seems as though you are taking my niceness for weakness. I have a boyfriend whom I love and don’t intend leaving for you or anyone else so get this straight. The next time you invade my life or space, I won’t take it lightly with you. Don’t push me to the extent of calling the police on you please, I liked you as a friend but it’s clear you don’t want my friendsh¡p so I have gladly thrown it out the window. Take back the money you paid because I am capable of footing my own bills. Bye!!” Paris angrily said and walked out on Kelvin. She went to where the waiter stood and gave her card to him to pay for her bills. Without hesitating, she instructed them to refund Kelvin his money. Shortly afterwards, she stormed out of the restaurant, entered into her car and drove off.
While all this was happening, Kelvin was mute. To be honest, Paris reaction came as a shock to him as he wasn’t expecting such outburst from her. Just as he was about to leave, the waiter walked up to him to refund the money he paid earlier for Paris meal. “Don’t worry, take it as tip” Kelvin said to the waiter and walked away.
As both individuals drove home that night, their minds were filled with thoughts and their spirit was bothered. Paris began to feel kinda bad for attacking Kelvin the way she did, since he actually hadn’t done anything to her to warrant such anger towards him. Strangely, her conscience began to prick her and she couldn’t say why.
On the other hand, Kelvin was moody all through because he was hurt. The fact that he loved Paris made it very difficult for him to move on from her. It was then that it dawned on him that being persistent and constantly in her face won’t work for him so he made a resolution that evening to begin to give her was they call ‘Slient Treatment’. It wasn’t going to be hærd for him to ignore or shun a woman he greatly had feelings for but it was the best decision to make so as to mess with her mentally and hopefully make her come to him willingly. This was a trick Kelvin learnt from being an ‘Alpha Male’ and he genuinely hoped it would work on Paris. Fingers were crossed!
After that day, Kelvin began to ignore Paris whenever he visited the TV station. Whenever he bumped into her, he would pretend as though she was insignificant and totally ignore her presence. At first, Paris cared less but after a while, she began to strangely feel attracted to Kelvin now more than she did when he was all over her. The silent treatment he gave to her broke her heart and messed her up emotionally whenever they bumped into each other. The fact that Kelvin was usually dressed to kill whenever Paris saw him was another thing that drew her to him. No matter how much she tried to deny it, the honest truth is that it was impossible for her to overlook the fact that he was a Spec!
Kelvin was very handsome, tall, bodily built and always smelled amazing. He was very smart and his accent was to die for. Don’t get Paris wrong, Jason also had all those good qualities but there was just this ‘bad boy’ aura around Kelvin. His personality and style was edgy and this added spice and made him stand out from Jason.
It’s been over a month since Kelvin has been totally ignoring Paris existences. The project expansion seemed like the only thing on his mind whenever he visited the TV station. For all these while, Paris has been handling the cold vibes from him maturely. She usually pretended like she didn’t care too but deep down, she was dying for reasons unknown. Whenever she got the silence treatment from Kelvin in her work space, she would drive all the way down to Jason’s house after work to fill herself up on affection and love that she usually felt starved off whenever she saw Kelvin.
As time went on, Jason became more work oriented and had less time to spend with Paris. There was this course he took up so he usually went to school after work. This new development in their relationsh¡p wasn’t in favour of Paris but she never for once communicated to Jason that she was starved of his affection and love. She wanted to come off as an understanding and mature partner like Jason but it wasn’t working for her at all; deep down, she was craving for his attention.
Do you know what happens when the devil finds a looph0le anywhere? Well, he acts fast and fills it. On seeing that Paris was no longer getting refilled like she used to after getting emotional tortured by Kelvin, the devil thought what better time to strike than now.
It’s been about two months since the restaurant incident between Kelvin and Paris and they still haven’t spoken to each other since then. They were both dying to speak to each other but pride won’t let them. Every night, Kelvin would stalk Paris socials to see her photos and watch her videos. He was madly into her and it drove him crazy that he wasn’t talking to her. Everything went on as usual till one fateful night.
It happened that the Manging Director or Star TV called for a meeting to discuss the new expansion of the firm. When Paris walked into the conference room, she was shocked to see Kelvin seated opposite the MD. She sat across him so it meant their eyes jammed together every now and then. Paris tried as much as possible to avoid eye contacts with Kelvin but his eyes were steadily on her.
Twenty minutes into the meeting, Paris was called upon by the MD to give a speech on the new programs that would be introduced after the expansion. She got up to speak but her palms were sweaty. For the first time ever, the almighty ‘Paris Nelson’ was short on words. “Are you ok?” The MD curiously asked, “Excuse me sir” she replied and walked away from the conference room. Luckily, the meeting was almost done so another staff spoke on behalf of Paris. Ten minutes later, they dismissed and everyone went home one after the other.
Immediately Kelvin left the conference room, he walked down to the car park and stood opposite Paris car. He waited for ten more minutes and by then, almost all the staffs had gone home. After waiting for a while, he saw Paris walking towards her car. As she got closer, he noticed she was sobbing. It broke his heart to see her that way. He waited patiently till she got closer before revealing himself.
“Hey” Kelvin said as Paris got to her car. Immediately she saw him, her heart sank in. “Why are you here?” She soberly asked, “I want to check up on you because I can tell you aren’t ok. What’s the problem?” He asked in a concerned tone but that question only made her cry the more. “Why do you care? Why are you here? Just leave me alone. Haven’t you done enough to me emotionally already? Your presence is enough torture to me and it’s crazy that no matter how much I try to deny it, I am attracted to you. Why did you show up in my life? I was better off without you in the picture and now all I can do is cry because I am messed up mentally and emotionally. Please just go away” she said with tear dripping from her eyes.
Immediately Paris beeped the door open, Kelvin’s heart raced and he couldn’t control his emotions anymore. He was crazily in love with Paris and was dying within to see her want him but can’t have him because she was already Taken. Unable to hold back his emotions anymore, he held her hands, pinned her back on the car door and planted a soft k-ss on her l-ips. That k-ss sent chilled s-nsation all over her body and goosebumps covered her skin. He k-ssed her passionately for few seconds and she reciprocated the k-ss.
When their l-ips parted, Kelvin held Paris chin, looked into her shiny eyes and said “I am madly in love with you Paris, I need you!”.
