Chapter 4: ~ THE PRESENT ~

“ Humans are pathetic… ”

I hated the fact that I was listening to them. Killing the humans is not the appropriate thing to do now.

I know when I render mercy, I know when I hunt. I know when I have to kill, and I know when to take revenge. But right now, it’s just not the time for me to do anything.

I remembered eleven years ago, the little girl in the wood with her puppy.

I almost killed her, I had the chance to but that lousy annoying puppy of hers could spoil my plans.

If I had to see that animal again, I swear, I won’t hesitate to slice it into halves.

Now where is she? She might be an adult by now. Will she be able to remember that day?

I bet not… It’s probably years, and humans do forget so easily.

If I have to kill every single soul in Acanda, she’ll probably be one of them.

” What are you thinking, Derek? ” Bella, my cousin asked.

I frowned. Why would she have to interrupt? I hated it whenever I get distracted from my business.

She’s definitely good at reading minds, and I won’t have to think twice to take whatever action it is if she eventually read my thoughts.

” Still thinking again? ” She asked.

” It’s none of your business, Bella. ”

” Well, I wasn’t interested in knowing what you were thinking about, I only wanted to check if you were okay because you suddenly left. ”

” I don’t intend to hurt any of them, they’re not my problem now, I’ve got things to settle first. ” I said, letting her know that I was actually listening.

” Well, it’s all up to you. Whatever decision you make, we’ll just have to follow it. ” She yawned. ” I’m f-cking tired, I need to get some rest. ”

” You should get some sleep, ” I told her.

” Yeah, that’s actually where I’m going to right now. You should get some rest too. Good night, little brother. ” She left with the others.

I hated to hear the word ‘ Humans ‘. I so much hated it when they’re been talked about.

I develope this feeling of anger and hatred. The urge to kill and to destroy. To watch them cry and beg for mercy.

I’m not as aggressive, or hateful as the way you think, it’s just an inbuilt nature in me.

That feeling of irritation and uncomfortableness when I find myself around them, is something I don’t wish to fight out in me.

They are disobedient, and they hærdly listen to simple instructions. Just because we’re calm to them doesn’t mean that’s what we are.

Just because we haven’t abided to the consequences that follows for an act of disobedience doesn’t mean who do not give justice.

I’m only trying to be so nice to people who doesn’t worth it, who are no better than a dead corpse.

I was feeling so tired, I can feel my eyes heavy and dizzy. I know I need some rest because I’ve got a lot to do tomorrow, and that’s starting from Acanda.

” Prepare the horses, we leave to Acanda. ”

Bella has just woken up from sleep, her scattered hair made her more beautiful than she was.

And the way she stood, staring at me wasn’t a good one. ” Where are you going by this hour if the morning? ” She asked.

” Acanda. ” I answered.

” Acanda? ” She repeated. ” Isn’t it too early? It’s 6 o’clock, they might still be asleep by now. ”

” I don’t care, Bella, I’ve got some business to finish. ”

” Which is? ”

” You’ll find out at the right time. ”

” What happened to now? ”

” Now is not the right time, Bella. ” I hopped unto the horse’s back, striking it by the side and we were off for Acanda.

Just as Bella suggested, the entire village was quiet. I ordered one of my men to blow the horn which he did.

One by one they left their homes to the field, looking frightened. I always love it when they look scared, it gives me great joy in,side of me.

They were all quiet as the day, I smirked.

” My Lord, show us mercy for we have offended you again. Please, spear us and our families for this last time. Please. ” An old man pleaded.

First, I wasn’t here to kill, and second I hated their pleads, it annoys me a lot.

” I’m not here to kill, I’m only here for one person. ” As I said that, I could hear the beat of their heart hit hærd against their chest. ” I won’t hurt anyone but, if you fail to provide me who I am looking for, I’ll have no other choice but to have you all dead. ”

There was a brief silence, I asked. ” I’m looking for a girl with blond hair, ” they started staring at every lady who had a blonde hair. ” she has a little dog. Does anyone know who or where she is? ”

They were all quiet, only their eyes made movement. ” I’m gonna ask for the last time, where is the blonde haired girl? ”

” We don’t know, Sir. There are many girls with a blonde hair, we might end up handing you the wrong person. ” Said a lady.

I looked around for the last time, ” You’ve got tonight to find the girl or else, every single one of you will have to pay. ”

Fear filled the entire villagers, continuous questions was asked and no one seems to know an answer to it.

Who is this blonde girl?
Where is she?
Who might she be?
Is she here with us?

But there’s it one person it could be?
Someone not even her parents are aware of.

” Do you think they might know who she is? ” Michael asked. ” I don’t trust those human, I do not trust what they say. ”

I smirked halfway. ” Pathetic humans. ”

Chapter 5:

Mrs Craig ✓

” Do you think he might be referring to our daughter? ” I asked my husband.

” And why would you think like that? ” He asked back.

” Because Diana is the only one who has a puppy. ” I replied.

” Had. ” He corrected. ” And besides, Micky is gone for a long time. So, it’s definitely not our daughter. ”

” I think so, but I don’t know why I still feel like it’s her he’s talking about. ” I said, feeling worried and scared.

” That’s because you’re overthinking about it. Who knows if they are actually lying in order to take one of us? Those creatures are the least thing you’ll ever want to believe. Don’t bother yourself about them, okay? ”

I nodded, even though it still wasn’t convincing at all.
Diana has a blond her, and she’s the only one with a puppy.

Not that there’s no other girls with a pet, nor a dog, I’m just trying to explain that Diana’s puppy is still little compared to the others.

I don’t know why they were here last night, but whatever reason they’ve got, it’s really not safe for the Acandians.

We have only tonight to provide the girl. What if it was Diana he was referring to, what are we going to do?

Call Kelvin, informing him that some kinda human-animal wants our daughter? What do you think he’s gonna say?

Are you crazy? You really want to give out your daughter to some animal? For what?

That’s the part I can’t answer. For what??

It’s two months to Christmas and I’ve always wished desperately for the days to run faster. But seeing as things are going complicated, I’m wishing tonight will be eternity.

I cuddled my blanket around my body, thinking of how tommorow will go.

One could notice the fear in the other, it was too obvious in the eyes that we all looked scared since they left.

Now I know that not all prayers are being answered. The night passed like the other nights, the entire streets was still dried.

I stared out of the window, like I was some kind of watch knight awaiting to ring their coming to everyone.

There was a young boy, aged eighteen I guess, he was assigned to notify if they were coming to the village.

I don’t know if anyone else is as scared as I am but, I can feel my heart drumming against my chest that I could notice my teeth gnashing too.

” Are you okay? ” He asked.

” Yeah, I am. ” I said, cuddling myself tighter. ” Good morning. ”

” Good morning. Come on, I made you breakfast. ”

I nodded.

While we ate, we were eating silently. It’s half past nine o’clock and yet, everywhere is as dried as twelve midnight.

We were alarmed as the young boy shouted aloud, ” They are coming! The wolves are coming!! They are getting closer!!! ”

We dropped our food, looking at each other with fright written on our face.

We left our homes, leaving to the field. We always do that each time the wolves were coming, it was part of the rules they had given us.

They conclude in a particular decision and next time it’s changed. A new one is made and we’re left to follow them or we’ll face the consequences.

We’re humans and they’re animals. Animals are meant to be submissive to humans and we are to have dominion over them.

But this ones are different, this is the opposite…

They have dominion power over us, and we are the submissive creatures. We all gathered before they could make it to the village.

As usual, we all bowed in unison the moment they all halted. ” Is the girl here? ” Was the first thing he asked.

No one could look at his neighbor, no one dares to do that. We were forbidden to misbehave in front of the alpha wolf, and it also has it’s punishment.

Lot of rules were made and we have no other choice but to follow them.

” Do I have to repeat myself again?! ” He stormed, ” Where is the girl?! ” He repeated.

” We can’t find here, Sire because we don’t know who she is. ” Said a man. He was shivering but when he tried to talk further, one of the wolves had his throat sliced.

He held his neck, shocking for air. He was bleeding profusely and we were all left in awe and more fear grew in us.

He scoffs, ” Seems like I’ll just have to kill the rest of you. So, I’m gonna ask for the last time, where is the girl? ” He asked again.

Marco held my hand as he noticed the way I was trembling in fear. I wasn’t putting on something too heavy, but I was sweating profusely.

I can feel my sweat, rolling from my face down to my abdomen. Nothing, not even his grip seems to be helping matters.

I shut my eyes close, and when I opened it, I saw him staring at me. Trying to compose myself was all in vain as he was directly looking at me.

” Marco, he’s looking at me. ” I whispered in a way only Marco could hear.

” Calm down, you’re too nervous and he’s noticed it.” He whispered. ” Don’t let him suspect you. ”

” What if he already has? ”

” Just calm down. Take a deep breath. ”

I took a deep breath, exhaling heavily.

But do you think that’s enough to convince him? He already caught me, who am I fooling around?

He rode his horse towards our direction, halting in front of me. ” You’re nervous, why? ” He asked.

I never knew an alpha would sound so good like this. We have believed alpha wolfs were this rude, hungry-tasted and scary annoying creatures.

But guess I’m a bit wrong about that. ” No,” I replied, ” I’m not. ”

” Do you know anything about the girl I’m talking about? ”

” I… ”

He interrupted, ” Don’t think about lying to me, I know when you lie and when you tell the truth. ”

I notice Marco hold me tight, I couldn’t stop staring into his eyes. If I have to lie, I just couldn’t. Staring in his eyes was like staring into the mirror of truth.

” She’s not here. ” I managed to say, at least I aren’t lying.

” Where is she? ” He asked again.

I didn’t talk. ” Where is she? ” He repeated.

” Sh.. she’s… at.. ” I took a deep breath, ” She’s at America with her uncle. ”

” What part of America is she? ”

” New York City. That’s where she’s staying. ” I started crying. I should be protecting my daughter, but I was seeing myself betraying her.

” Good. ” He smirked for a while. ” But, if I ever find out that you are lying to me, I will come back for you and every single soul here. ” He wore an evil smirk on his face, exiting the village with the rest of his packs.
