THE HALO BREED
SEASON 4
RAGE
EPISODE 6
The first thing that struck Gus Kukah was the fact that the boy had become a man, and no ordinary man at that. Gus himself was a man’s man, standing above six feet and big with it.
But the boy he was hugging was more than a head taller and broader across the shoulders. His muscles and pectorals were awesome, and even though he was w-t through the coarse fabric around him, he still looked so regal that Gus felt a warm glow spreading through him, a glow of pride, that a specimen of manh-od like this could be his son.
But he knew no ordinary growth could be capable of producing such a man. He was his son, yes, but this boy was meant to be more than mere prince. And then Gus saw something rather peculiar about his son; it was in the eyes!
Even the strange eyes of the Halowans followed the principle of sclera, iris and pupil, just like the Earthlings, three basic arrangements. But his son had four layers, amazingly! Between the iris and pupil of his eye, there was a strange ring of many colours, thinly surrounding the pupils, glowing in such an amazingly beautiful manner that he could only stare for a moment, rendered speechless by such beautiful eyes.
“Father,” Sena said, and it was in the tongue of the people of Densua, and hearing it after such a long time of not using it, caused fresh tears to come to Gus Kukah’s eyes.
“My son!” he whispered in the same Earthling language. “Peace be on you. my nightmares have been curtailed today. Welcome home, my son. Above all, I thank the spirits that you can see us, and remember us, and do not consider us strangers.”
The boy’s face softened, but he didn’t completely smile.
“Memories of you grew with me, father,” Sena said softly.
“Are you home?” Gus asked earnestly as he brushed tears from his cheeks, hoping against hope that he would have his son with him for years.
“I am here for a spell,” Sena said softly. “My call is on Earth. But there will be a sign, of which nature I do not know. But when it happens, my destiny begins.”
Gus nodded three times, and then he swept his son into a fierce embrace once more.
“I do not care if it is for a day, or an hour, my boy!” he said in a gruff voice. “But you’re here with us, and we shall have the most of it. Come in,side, son. Your mother and siblings await you! Indeed, the wh0le of Halo awaits you!”

It turned out to be a great day of celebrating the birthday of the legendary prince. Many young people had heard the incredible tale, but over the years, it had sounded more fiction than truth, and there were many who still did not believe that had happened eighteen years previously.
So, when Gus Kukah bypassed his quarters and took Sena to the special quarters he had kept for him in the north wing, and bade him to take a bath and be ready for his mother and siblings, the king rushed back to his room, watched by stunned servants, and shut the door behind him with a bang.
His wife and children watched him with fear at first as he leaned against the closed doors and covered his face with his hands, his huge body shaking.
“Gussy?” Derbie called softly, the fear plain in her voice.
The king looked up and although tears still fell down his face, there was indescribable joy on his face.
“He’s back,” he said as he laughed in a macabre way even as he cried. “Sena is back! Our son is here again!”
Derbie felt her heart kicking as she sat up with a grunt.
“Do not mock me!” she hissed as her face shook. “Gussy, my Lord, do not dare mock me!”
The king gave a whoop for an answer and danced a crazy little gig that made Gussy and Liz giggle insanely, and then he jumped on the bed and gave all of them bear hugs.
These series of uncharacteristic display from the man she loves convinced Derbie that indeed her first child was home, and she bounced off the bed and scre-med shrilly as she tugged at her husband’s gown.
“Where’s he, Gussy? Where have you hidden him? Tell me before I tear off your head!”
“Ah, he takes a bath first, darling,” Gus Kukah shouted.
“Oh, you selfish brute!” Derbie cried with indignation. You take your pleasure and dare deny me hugging my son?”
And with that she quickly tightened her sash and went out to instruct the servants to prepare a feast, and she gave orders to the announcers to bring the Sage and all kingmakers and elders and every important person to the banquet hall.
Satisfied and in anxious breathlessness, she rushed into the bathroom to take a bath, and when she was finally dressed, her husband came back to the room to announce that her son whom she had lost, was ready to see her now.
Derbie’s hands shook, her l-ips trembled, and even though she fought it, tears rushed to her eyes as the boy stepped through the door. She gasped, and she could not speak for a moment, because he was indeed glorious to behold.
Dressed in black slacks and a white shirt his father had given him, he looked regal. He was not what she had expected. Having been taken away before he could really speak, she had expected to see an uncultured man, maybe a wild, beastly man they would have to train to be acceptable.
But that was not the case.
His hair was braided behind him, his face well-shaven, his appearance royal, and dearest Spirits, his eyes alone, those glittering diamonds around his pupils.
He came towards her, his face calm, without a smile, but there was warmth in those wonderful eyes. And when he spoke to her, it was in the tongue of the Halowans.
“Spada, tagri maligian limakot!” he said in a wonderful voice, a man’s voice.
Mother, bless me!
The ancient greetings of the Halowan royals!
And he followed it by kneeling on one knee and touching his mother’s feet with his right hand.
He was a perfect gentleman, and that indeed should not be a surprise, she knew, because he had been brought up by the good Spirits.
She was weeping hærd and although she knew she had to put her hand on his head and bless him, she could not do so. Instead, she fell on her knees and enveloped her son in her arms as her tears fell in torrents.
No words were necessary as the amazing-looking young man wrapped his mother in his arms. Gussy and Liz ran to them and this time Sena smiled briefly as he hugged his siblings too.
Gus Kukah leaned against the door and crossed his arms on his chest, unmindful of the tears that fell down his cheeks.
This was what happiness was all about, he thought.

So, it turned into a welcoming party and a celebration of the eighteenth birthday of the first prince. It was held on the huge, wonderful park and gardens within the boundaries of the palace.
All the great men and women of Halo were present, including the stunned Spiritual Sage of Halo, George Simpson, who hovered near the prince everywhere he went, which wasn’t very far, anyway.
He was the epitome of calm and regal finesse as he sat on the royal dais with his family, acknowledging people that were introduced to him. He ate with the proper table manners, and an amused smile played around his l-ips as he watched the dancers and the acrobatic displays.
However, he showed less enthusiasm for the magicians, and Gus Kukah noted this well. It seemed to him that his son was accustomed to superior displays of power than what the magicians were doing.
Eventually, the Yamah of Halo-Quilo appeared.
He was Owura Boateng, a sub-chief of Halo-Quilo, one of the biggest and prosperous sub-districts of Halo, reporting only to the king of Halo. He came with of ten his warriors, as usual, and was accompanied by his beautiful eighteen-year-old daughter, Aya Boateng.
She was undoubtedly the prettiest of all the maidens in Halo. Slender, dark, graceful and with twinkling eyes, she drew frank stares of admiration wherever her shadow fell. Dressed in a glorious gown designed by the most talented designer in Halo, she looked breath-taking as she walked behind her parents to the royal dais.
As usual her personal bodyguard, Sap Palo, walked behind her with a grim face. He was a strapping warrior, dressed in his black leather trousers and a tight-fitting leather top, his fine muscles on display as he walked with a haughty air behind Aya.
Sap Palo was twenty-four years old, the best warrior in the land as he had won the individual and team first trophies in five categories in the HaloGames for the last six years. He had been asked to join the revered King’s Army, but he had opted to stay in Halo-Quilo mainly because of Princess Aya whom he was madly in love with.
They were coming to stay in central Halo for a week prior to the HaloGames, and they had come to meet the arrival of the mysterious prince.
Gus Kukah and his wife stood up and welcomed the sub-chief and his family to the party. As the women hugged and laughed happily, Owura Boateng bowed low to his king in obeisance, and Gus touched the horse-tail whisk in his hand to each of Owura’s shoulders before hugging the man.
Smiling, Gus turned proudly and introduced Sena.
And when the prince stood up and bowed first to the sub-chief and his wife, and when they stepped aside for him to meet Aya, Sap Palo inhaled sharply, and he scowled darkly when he beheld the amazing looks of this lost prince.
Quickly, his dark glance went to Aya’s face, and he noticed how she was staring at Sena with a look close to shock on her beautiful face.
“Prince Sena!” she finally managed to say. “Oh! So pleased to meet you! I was two years old when you were whisked away! Never thought I’ll witness this day!”
Aya was a woman that men noticed, a woman that men adored, and a woman many men had fought over, seeking her approval to be more than a friend to her. She loved the attention, and loved the way they craved for her. In their eyes she saw adoration and worsh¡p, and that was glorious.
She noticed the diamond ring around Sena’s eyes, and she was shocked when he turned from her and went back to his seat without another glance at her, without even trying to hold her hand, bow low, and k-ss her hand as most men rushed to do the first time they met her.
