THE HALO BREED
SEASON 4
RAGE
EPISODE 19
Eventually, Sena stepped away from Grace and beckoned to Kobby.
“Attend to her,” he said as he mounted the steps to the porch.
Grace looked at him with surprise, her face still w-t with her tears.
“It is alright, my princess,” Kobby said with a gentle smile. “You’re safe now. Come in,side and relax. There are some survivors in the forest, and they would join us when this menace is over. Our Saviour is here now.”
Grace nodded dully, suddenly scared that the Breed did not like her. It was not lack of trust, no, but it was all about a lack of interest. Grace knew what s€×ual lust was. She had seen it several times in the eyes of men as they looked at her, and until this very moment she had been sure any man could not resist her charms.
But she saw only revulsion on Sena’s face when he looked at her, as if he did not want her anywhere near him. It was not hatred; she could easily have dealt with hatred, and been able to charm her way into his favours. His was a complete aversion to her, a total lack of interest, and it was the first time she was seeing anything like that.
If that was the case, how could she get near to him and tie the cords to his hair? How would she be able to carry out the orders of Lord Lastor?
She had just witnessed this young man striking down Hadesians as if they were just helpless chicken! He could move like no man could, fight in the air without wings, and had a weapon she had never seen before; an axe that cut through the hateful monsters and burned them, an axe that suffused its holder with fire!
Then his eyes!
Where did those diamond rings come from? Rings that could change to orbs of fire? Who was this man? It was evident that he was no ordinary man, and that the Spirits did favour him.
If, indeed, that was the case, then this Breed could indeed defeat Lord Lastor and liberate Densua. Was that not what she wanted, to see Densua free and the people once more back to normal?
That oppressive red mist still covered the land, and if this Breed should fail, if Lord Lastor could get the Golden Elemental Totem from this Breed and keep the doors of Hades open, the evil would spread across the earth, and all humans would perish!
The world would be a place of decay, of rot, and of waste!
The Hadesians would run supreme, and everything as she saw it would be gone!
Then, perhaps, if she confessed everything to this Halo Breed, he would be able to protect her from Lord Lastor, and save Densua too.
“What is your next move, Sir Obeng?” she asked absent-mindedly. “Where would you go from here?”
“That I do not know,” Kobby said gently. “It depends on the master. I have wondered about that myself. Perhaps, I can ask him now, Your Royal Highness.”
Grace nodded and began to climb the steps to the porch.
She was amazed at how lovely and clean the interior of the house was. The living area was huge, airy, and comfortable. They found Sena half-lying on a long, comfortable seat that had a stuffing of wool.
Grace moved towards him, and he sat up quickly and held out a hand towards her.
“Stop, woman,” he said coldly. “Do not come near me.”
“Oh, but why?” Grace wailed in anguish. “Why do you hate me so?”
He looked at her with very unfriendly eyes.
“I do not trust human beings that have wings,” he said coldly. “Keep away from me!”
Then it struck Grace!
He did not want her near because of her wings!
These wings that delighted her so and made her look so beautiful and exotic – or so she thought – instead made her appear repulsive to him!
But the wings, to all intents and purposes, were permanently fixed on her back! How could she get rid of them?
It was true that their allure was slowly leaving her. There had been times when she had wished she could remove her wings and wear them when she wanted. More and more she had wanted to be a normal woman, able to take walks and be admired without her wings.
Was it not ironic that the wings, which she had felt made her so attractive, should fill the one man she wanted to so much to speak to with disgust?
Maybe this was the time to tell him everything about Lord Lastor, and what she had been sent to do!
“Excuse me, my Lord!” Kobby Obeng’s voice broke her reveries. “But what happens now?”
“We wait,” Sena said. “There will be a sign. There are always signs, and I will recognize them. Right now, we have to rest here, and wait for the sign of the Spirits.”
Kobby hesitated for a moment, then he bowed low to Sena.
“Yes, my Lord,” he said, and began to walk backwards. “I will check the kitchen and see if there are some food we can eat, or prepare and eat. I’m really hungry.”
“Yes, my friend,” Sena said. “Please check if you could get us something to eat.
When Kobby quickly left the room, Grace decided to confide in Sena.
“There’s something you must know, Prince,” she said quickly when he scowled at her. “Please, allow me to speak to you!”
He growled at her and watched her warily.
“Speak from where you stand,” he said coldly. “I can hear you well enough.”
She stopped, once again quite taken aback by his obvious revulsion.
She opened her mouth to speak, and then she felt a sudden pain in her throat that seared through her so badly that she gasped and mo-ned, crashing to the floorboards on her knees as tears of anguish fell down her face.
“One word more, Grace of the Skits, and I will tear off your head!” the furious voice of Lord Lastor roared in her head. “I am with you everywhere you go from now! Do not incur my ire!”
Grace pressed her hands to the sides of her head, unable to bear the pain any longer, mo-ning with pain as tears came to her eyes.
“What ails you now?” Sena asked coldly as the diamond rings in his eyes began to spin, and he sat up suddenly as if with some sixth sense, he seemed to feel the presence of evil.
“Don’t speak!” the furious voice of Lord Lastor said in her head. “If you speak, he will know my presence, and he will kill you! If you value your life, you will get up now, and go to the bathroom!”
Sena’s eyes were fixed on Grace with relentless hostility as she stood up and stumbled blindly out of the room, bouncing off the walls with mo-ns as the pain increased.
Kobby Obeng came out of the kitchen and stared at her with horror.
“My Princess!” she scre-med. “What’s wrong with you? Is everything alright?”
“The bathroom!” Grace mo-ned as her tears fell. “Please!”
“Come this way, my Lady!” Kobby said frantically. “Follow me!”
He led her to the bathroom, and Grace entered and locked it.
The excruciating pain stopped immediately, and she felt a hollowing out as something shot out of her, and she saw the ghostly image of Lord Lastor shimmering in the air just about the floor… and his eyes glowed a horrible red as the horns on his forehead stood up straight!
“You cannot defy me!” he growled furiously. “You will go out there and sed-ce him and tie the cords into his hair!”
“But he does not want me!” Grace cried with terror. “He abhors me, my darling! My wings are an abomination to him!”
“Soon solved, Earthling!” the ghostly image of Lord Lastor growled. “Turn around and spread your wings!”
Grace Klubi turned obediently and spread her wonderful white wings on each side of her body.
Kobby Obeng stood behind the closed door of the bathroom for a while, his face looking worried, and then he turned to go back to the kitchen again.
And that was when he saw Sena Kukah standing at the far end of the corridor. His axe was in his hand, and its edge was shining with fire… and so were the orbs around the Breed’s eyes!
They were spinning circles of fire again!
Kobby knew the Breed was in a killing rage again!
