EPISODE 25

Anguish Of The Breed

The celestial palace called Rest was so unbelievably comfortable for Sena that for a wild moment he felt like spending an eternity there!

The moment he slipped through the gigantic golden gate, and glided into the palace, he began to notice his spiritual soul. Hands, feet, belly, and even saw himself reflected fully on the shiny golden surface of one of the shining walls!

He heard soothing, serene music, and experienced such surrealistic bouts of happiness that he just floated through the halls, the rooms and the gardens. He saw plants and flowers he had never seen before, and witnessed finesse and beautiful creation which were absent on earth.

The Halo Breed knew he was supposed to rest and learn how to grasp physical objects, but his happiness was such that he just floated around lost in blissful allure.

He was happy, and it was the best moment of his life!

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he heard a grating sound that rose in a crescendo, disrupting the serene rhythmic air of Rest!

He was floating in the garden, and the sound seemed to be coming from beneath him!

Sena scowled with unhappiness!

He was comfortable here, and wanted to remain like that for eternity!

What then was disrupting his happiness this brutally?

The ground – if indeed it was the ground – began to shake alarmingly.

It was really frightening, but he remained calm as he hovered above the ground.

Suddenly, a huge door slammed through the ground and extended into the sky above him. It was not a broad door; it was quite narrow, just enough for him to squeeze through if he wanted to go through it!

There was fire burning all around it, and as Sena starred with growing trepidation, the top of the door began to descend very slowly, inch by inch, and what Sena saw and heard behind the door frightened him.

The place beyond, as it was revealed inch by inch, was a burning inferno so vast and so deep that it shook him badly!

It was like an unending burning abyss!

And deep from its core were millions of souls scre-ming and wailing in agony! The heat was so fierce, so terrible, that he could feel it even where he was hovering, and in his spiritual form!

This was the heart of Hades!

And it was no place for any soul!

He knew he was supposed to go in there, just as Gabriel had told him.

But the truth of it was that suddenly, without the protection of his physical body, he felt terror creeping through his soul!

Hades was a fractious place!

Slowly the centre of the door wound down until it was completely down, revealing that alarming, disturbing, scary place called Hades.

Sena floated towards the entrance of the door slowly, very slowly!

He could feel the blast of heat, a scorching pain that made him grimace with horror! This was the exact opposite of Rest, which filled him with happiness.

He stopped at the entrance and looked at that sea of blazing fire and those awful scre-ms from tortured souls deep down in the abyss!

Then he noticed that the central portion of the doorway was making its way slowly up again! Its ascent was very slow, far slower than its descent, but it was ascending anyway!

Sena quivered with terror!

“This is scary!” he shouted fiercely, looking into the open sky above him. “It is not meant for souls like me! What if I don’t make it back? What if I become trapped in there?”

His voice reverberated around Rest.

“Answer me!” he scre-med, and the echo came back to his ears, me, me, me, me!

With a sinking feeling he knew there was not going to be any answer!

This was the final test that he needed to take, on his own. He could decide to go through the doorway to Hades, or he could choose to stay right at Rest and wait for the door to close once again!

And he also knew that all that he had gone through, all the suffering, and all the pains would be useless if he stayed at Rest. Maybe a bigger calamity might befall him if he failed this final step.

This was why he had been born, and torn from his parents, and trained in the Underworld for eighteen years! If he failed to move in, the sacrifices of his parents, especially his father, and the Spirits would all be for nothing.

“What will be, will be!” he whispered, and glided through the entrance into Hades!

EPISODE 26

The Taming Of The Breed

Sena’s soul glided over that horrible sea of burning fire!

Now that he was just above it, he could see down into its various compartments where human souls were in agony, burning without being burnt.

The heat alone gored him to the heart, and much against his will, he quivered with terror!

He was in the lair of the raging lion without his body, and without his axe!

And how was he going to find Lord Lastor in this vast, unending burning plains? It was as vast as the earth, and it would take forever to locate Lastor! But with the intensity of fire, could he really float and glide over her for long?

Suddenly, Sena stopped and looked behind him.

The doorway was still there, but its middle was slowly closing up.

“What happens if it closes up?” he whispered softly to himself. “I will be trapped here! Time to go back and try this again another time!”

He began to glide back towards the doorway.

“Not so fast, you puny punk!” came the deep, ominous growl of Lord Lastor behind him.

Sena paused and began to quiver with terror!

“See how you tremble!” Lord Lastor growled, his voice filled with hatred and fury. “I am going to take great pleasure in keeping your soul right here, Breed of the Halos!”

Sena turned around slowly.

Lord Lastor was hovering above the fiery fire.

Tall, handsome, powerful, dressed in all white with two horns curling across each side of his forehead, he looked an ominous foe indeed. In his hand was his long, white staff.

“I see your terror, and I feel your fear!” he whispered fiercely and glided towards the stricken Sena. “In your elements on Earth, you chased me with your bloody Axe of the Executioners! And because of that you dared to enter my abode? Don’t you know that the only weapon fashioned against me, that can really hurt me, is that axe made by the Spirits? And you left it back on earth? Boy, how stupid can you be?”

Sena felt so weak, exposed and vulnerable.

“Your threat on earth has ended,” he said weakly.

“Says who?” Lord Lastor asked with disdain. “You? Puny weakling! Now that you’re here, I’ll keep you here forever in agony, and I’ll go back and lay Earth to ruin!”

“No, you won’t!” Sena shouted. “I’ll stop you!”

He flew at Lord Lastor with fury, his fists flashing into the demon, but it was just like punching air! His spiritual hands could not touch the demon, and Lastor let out a triumphant yell filled with disdain.

“Oh, Halo Breed, see how pathetic you are!” he bellowed. “You single-handedly thwarted all my plans to occupy earth, and chased me and my stalwart servants out, and dared to come through Hades for me! Do you now see your folly?”

With a roar of fury Lord Lastor pivoted and slammed his staff into Sena. The Halo Breed scre-med with acute pain and was tossed backwards by the blow!

“Feel the wrath of Hades!” Lord Lastor cried and pointed his staff at Sena, then released a blast of pure fire from it that enveloped Sena’s soul completely!

Sena’s gut-wrenching scre-ms overshadowed the muted scre-ms coming from the abyss, and he tossed frantically from the fire, floating backwards desperately as the agony tore through him!

“Help me, oh please help me!” he wailed in anguish. “I’m begging you, Lord Lastor! Save me! Have mercy on me! Save me!”

Lord Lastor floated after the burning soul of Sena, releasing bout after bout of fire from his staff at the hapless boy.

“Save you? You haven’t seen nothing yet, Halo Breed! You dare invade my world and kill my servants? Oh, this is just the beginning, you wretched puny soul!”

He smashed the staff with relentless fury into Sena, and the Breed was propelled backwards as he continued to scre-m and wail in agony. With a fit of rage, Lord Lastor began smashing Sena in the head repeatedly with his staff, each strike h-rder and more violent than the last, each one eliciting a scre-m of pain from Sena, until finally Sena was on his hands and knees within the burning fire, his face torn with anguish as he bowed his head in defeat.

“Mercy!” Sena cried in a lost, pitiful voice. “Please, have mercy on me! I’m sorry for all the troubles I caused you, Lord Lastor! You can come to Earth and rule, and do as you wish! I was misled by the Spirits! Please, forgive me! Please, I’ll do anything you want me to do, but please let the suffering stop! I can’t take anymore!”

Lord Lastor held his staff in one hand and put his other hand on his wa-ist and preened with pride and a haughty expression covered his face.

“Better!” he said with utmost happiness. “Now, finally, you know your place, Halo Breed, and know who your real master is! Oh, it is going to be such fun cutting you to size, son of Gus Kukah! You just don’t know how much I’m going to enjoy torturing you!”

And just at that moment the fire around Sena’s soul went out, and the Halo Breed’s great fear was evident as he looked at Lord Lastor. With a cry of great fear Sena glided backwards with a blast of speed, gained the doorway, and passed through with frenzied scre-ms.

Lord Lastor, filled with pride and happiness, emboldened with his profound power over Sena, sprinted after the Breed with a burst of speed.

“Stay there, you puny little cunt!” he scre-med with wrath and blasted through the doorway.

They were in the Rest celestial palace now, and he smashed his staff into Sena, sending the Halo Breed smashing horribly through the garden to land on his back near a huge, blooming tree.

Lord Lastor bellowed with profound glee and glided over the stunned boy.

He stood in the air above Sena and pointed with his staff.

“Get on your hands and knees again!” he scre-med. “Worsh¡p me, Halo Breed! Worsh¡p and praise me, and know that I am your superior! Do that, and maybe I will spare you further agony!”
