Melissa’s POV

I hurriedly took out my phone as soon as I got to the back of the restaurant and dialed Kathryn’s contact.

“Guess what?!” I said happily

“How can I guess when I don’t know what happened?” she asked tiredly

“You’re such a bore! Well, I pecked Chris today and he didn’t say anything about it. He’s beginning to fall for me because of the sad story I told him about myself so it’s only a matter of time before I have him wrapped around my fingers” she scre-med in excitement

“Really? Are you serious right now?” she exclaimed

“Of course! I rushed to call you immediately” I said

“Wow! This is huge! Thank you so much Melissa, I promise to reward you after this mission” she said excitedly

“I got to go now, I’ll catch up with you later” I said and ended the call

I returned to the restaurant and pretended like nothing happened but deep down I was so happy. I’m not going to take things too slow anymore, I will speed things up so I can get out of this goddamn restaurant soon.

It’s not easy for me to work in this poor restaurant when I’m one of the top models around.

Kathryn’s POV

The first person I saw when I got down from my car was Mitchell Campbell. I remember what Melissa told me about Chris yesterday and my l-ips curved into a smile.

“Where are you headed to in such a hurry?” I asked walking up to her

“I’m headed to my training class with Crystal, do you have a problem with that?” she scoffed

“Of course not! You are so full of yourself because you got married before me. You think you have everything you’ve ever wanted, happiness wealth and you’re about fulfilling your dreams right?” I taunted

“What exactly are you driving at?” she asked with a sigh

“Nothing much, I only want to give you a piece of advice which I think will be very helpful to you. Stop looking down on others because your marriage is going to come crashing before you soon.

Who knows? If you treat me well, I might take pity on you and console you when you start crying your eyes out. Take this advice seriously before it’s too late” I concluded and walked away

I know there will be so many questions running in her mind but of course, she won’t be able to find any answer to it because she’s so dumb.

She trusts Chris so much and even if I had told her directly that Chris was having an affair with someone else, she wouldn’t have believed me.

So I think it will be best if she finds out herself. She will definitely be heartbroken and shattered beyond repair but it will be too late to do anything then.

My phone rang and after checking the caller, I discovered it was Dad. Why won’t he even let me rest?

“Yes?” I asked rudely after answering the call

“You can be rude however you want, I don’t care. Get close to Chris and find out everything about him. I feel like there’s more to him even though the necklace is proving me wrong.

Get to know more about him so that if he turns out to be one of the Rodriguez, we will easily get him. Remember you won’t be safe either once he finds out the truth” he said

“I won’t be your puppet anymore so get that right into your skull. You can ask someone else to do the job for you but I won’t be doing anything. If Chris turns out to be one of the Rodriguez, I have no problem with that.

He deserves to live a good life after all! And it he asks for my help, I will render it to him without thinking twice because monsters like you don’t deserve to live a rich life. Good day!” I ended the call breathing heavily

Sometimes I wonder if that man is actually my father or not. A father can’t possibly be using his daughter that way and I think it’s my fault too for listening to him at first.

Mitchell’s POV

I couldn’t concentrate on Crystal’s teaching so she dismissed me and told me to take a rest which I’m very grateful for.

Ever since Kathryn told me my marriage was going to crash soon, I’ve been feeling uneasy and I have this strange feeling that she was saying the truth but how can that happen?

Will my grandparents find out that my marriage with Chris was just based on a contract? They can’t possibly find out right?

I didn’t even tell Mom about it so I’m sure no one will find out. What else could she be talking about then? I checked the time on my phone and saw it was lunch time for Chris already.

I should call him so I will stop feeling uneasy at least, he should be able to help me.

“How is my baby doing?” he asked as soon as he answered the call

“I’m not okay, I’m on my way home already” I said with a sigh

“Why? What happened? You went home early yesterday too, are you sure you are okay?”

“I’m fine, I just feel a little uneasy. Is there something you want to tell me?” I asked him

“I don’t understand” he said completely lost

“Nevermind! Have you had lunch?” I asked instead

“No, I just arrived at a restaurant now”

“Alright then, I will be expecting you at home” I said and ended the call after he blew me a k-ss

I was expecting to feel better after having a talk with him but I think I feel worse instead. I was just a few minutes from arriving home when I saw Mr. Ronald by the roadside. It seems like his car was faulty.

I wanted to just ignore him and act like I didn’t see him but on a second thought, I decided to help him out.

“Good afternoon” I greeted behind him and that’s startled him a little

“Afternoon! You scared me!” he said and placed his hand on his chest

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to” I said apologetically

“What’s wrong with your car?” I asked staring at it

“I have a flat tire” he mumbled

“Ohh! Are you going for a meeting?” I asked noticing how he was dressed

“Kind of! It’s actually a date with one of my partners and it’s at the restaurant beside your mansion. I’ve forgotten the name” he said

“Let me drop you off then” I suggested

“Really? I don’t want to bother you, I’ll just call my secretary to pick me up” he said taking out his phone

“It will take a while for your secretary to arrive here and I never said you were bothering me. Just get in” I insisted

“Thank you so much!” he smiled and got into the car after me

“Are you returning home from the company?” he asked striking a conversation

“No, I no longer work in the company. I’m now a modelling trainee” I answered

“Wow! Modelling will definitely suit you better because you are extremely beautiful. Chris is so lucky!” he said making me shift uncomfortably

“Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that” he apologized

“It’s fine! I think I’m the one lucky to have him instead” I smiled softly

“You’re both lucky to have each other! Can we be friends? I like your personality and straightforwardness” he said

“Sure”

“Alright, let me have your contact” he said and stretched his phone to me

I typed my number on it and handed it back to him. Coincidentally, we arrived at the restaurant at that moment and he got down after bading farewell to me.

Now I have to go back to that frustrating mansion and wait in boredom until Chris arrives.

Chris POV

I don’t know why Mitchell’s question baffles me so much. My mind suddenly drifted to Anna but I shrugged it off.

I’m not doing anything with Anna, she only pecked me and it was on my cheeks.

With that concluded, I went into the restaurant and she happily came to attend to me as usual.

“Good afternoon” she greeted with a smile

“Afternoon! Why are you so happy?”

“I’m just happy to see you, that’s all! I told you that you’re my only friend so what do you expect? Anyway, what will you like for lunch?” she asked

“I just want hamburger and cheese today” I said

“It’s good to take light food sometimes, I’ll be back”

She returned few minutes later and dropped my food on the table.

“Can I sit here for a few minutes? I’m really tired” she complained

“Sure, you can. I wonder why your manager keeps overworking you all the time when there are other workers here”

“I’m just unlucky, it’s not entirely his fault. Besides, the pay here is a little greater than that of other places I’ve been working. Also, I get to see your handsome face everyday” she said resting her hands on my chin as she stared at me

“You are making me uncomfortable” I said shifting on my chair

“What? Are you shy now?” she teased

“Of course not! Why will I be shy? It’s just that you’re staring at me too much”

“Yeah, yeah. We will be going out this Saturday right?” she asked enthusiastically

“Yes, I promised you already” I mumbled

I’ve been having a weird feeling about going out with her but since I already promised her, I can’t possibly change my mind. It will seem like I’m going back on my word and I know she won’t be happy about it.

“Really? Oh my goodness! I need to get ready and I will definitely start preparing my dress. Saturday is just in two days time and I will be going out with a guy for the first time. I need to look different and beautiful” she said hurriedly

I couldn’t help but smile at how cute she looks. A smile fits her face perfectly but when she’s sad, her face looks gloomy and it hurts my heart. What’s this feeling?

“Where are we going on Saturday?” she asked snapping me out of my thoughts

“Uhhm! I haven’t thought of anywhere yet” I said

“What?! How can that be? We only have one more day to prepare, do you have anywhere in mind?”

“Not really! I don’t know the kind of places you like so……” I shrugged

“Should we choose somewhere close to a hotel?” she asked and I instantly choked on my food

“Sorry, take water” she stretched the glass of water to me and I gulped it down

“Why should we book somewhere close to a hotel?” I asked

“It’s not what you think okay? I’m only asking us to book a room in case of necessity. I don’t want you to bring your car along, it’ll be nice if we walk together”

“Yeah, I guess. But there’s no need to book an hotel room since I won’t be spending the night out” I said

“Alright then, I can’t wait for Saturday” she giggled

After I was done eating, she saw me off to my car as usual and for a reason which I don’t know, I was looking forward to her k-ss.

She only pecked me the last time but I really do hope she k-sses me this time.

Just like I wanted, she leaned closer to me and gently placed her l-ips on mine in a warm, passionate k-ss. My eyes w¡dened in shock but I couldn’t stop her because I was longing for it too.

When she finally pulled away from me, she bowed her head shyly.

“I will leave now” she said and turned around but I pulled her to myself and k-ssed her roughly until we both ran out of breath

By the time we pulled away, we were both breathing heavily and I didn’t have the courage to look at her face until she ran away.

I really don’t know what I’m doing but I hope Mitchell doesn’t find out about it, else I will be totally done for.
