Kathryn’s POV
I placed my palm over my l-ips to prevent myself from scre-ming in joy. My heartbeat increased by ten times and I got scared that he might probably be hearing the sound.
“Kathryn?” he asked snapping me out of my thoughts
He was already on his knees with a glittering diamond necklace in his hands which I was sure would cost millions.
“I….I…..I will be your girlfriend” I stuttered
“You will be my girlfriend?” he asked surprised but I just nodded my head vigorously
Why is he so surprised? Was he expecting me to turn him down or what?
“Thank you Kathryn! I never expected a positive response because you’ve never dated anyone since you became a model that the public knows of” he said and wore the necklace around my neck
As soon as he was done, he pulled me closer and k-ssed me slowly and passionately.
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t control myself” he apologized after the k-ss
“It’s okay!” I said with a warm smile
I cut the cake after he spelt my name and we both sat down to eat it alongside the dishes and drinks. We were acting all lovey-dovey when my phone started ringing.
“Excuse me!” I said and stood up to answer it
“Good afternoon sir” I greeted the manager politely
“Afternoon Kathryn, how are you doing?” he asked
“I’m fine”
“Are you free right now? I want you to come to the agency for a while, will it be possible?” he asked
“Uhhm! Okay, I will be there soon” I said and ended the call
“I have to leave now. The manager of my company just called, I’m so sorry” I said to Robert apologetically
“It’s okay! Can we have dinner together then?” he asked rubbing his palms together
“Sure! You weren’t this nervous before, is it because we’re now together?” I asked as I picked up my bag
“I..I’m just finding it hærd to believe that you accepted me. You know you’re the top one model in America while I’m just a businessman that no one knows about” he said
“I understand now, but you don’t have to feel inferior. I’ve never felt loved and secured around anyone like I do around you. We will talk about this later, I have to leave”
I gave him a quick peck on his l-ips and hurried to the garage where I got into my car and drove to the company.
As soon as I stepped out of my car, I saw roses on the floor and I followed them until I was standing before every member of the agency.
They sang a birthday song and they all had a gift in their hands. In the middle was a huge cake on which was written “Happy Birthday Kathryn”.
I bursted into another round of joyful tears and walked up to the manager first to give him a hug. Honestly, I don’t know how they managed to do it but I’m completely overwhelmed right now.
“We need to cut the cake now so move there quickly” someone from the crowd said
“Thank you so much, I really don’t know how to appreciate you guys for this. This is my best birthday ever!” I said after cutting the cake
They soon came to me one after the other and presented their gifts which I accepted with a tearful smile.
“Happy birthday” Crystal said with a smile and stretched out her gift to me
“Thank you” I said with mixed reactions and accepted her gift
Today is a great day for me and I don’t think I should be upset with anyone right now. I’ll just treat everyone equally so my happiness doesn’t get ruined.
After the party, I returned to my mansion and opened the gifts one after the other. Firstly, I got myself a boyfriend and also, the agency thew a party for me. I just can’t explain how happy I am.
My phone rang and after seeing the caller ID, I rolled my eyes and sighed softly. Why does Dad have to call me now? I’m sure he will ruin my mood.
“Good evening” I greeted
“Did you find anything about Chris yet?” he asked and I sighed
“I already told you that I’m not interested in anything about him” I snapped
“Whether you’re interested or not doesn’t even matter. Right now, I’ve gotten 70% evidence that Chris is the last heir of the Rodriguez and I’m sure you know what that means. Whatever you choose to do is up to you but I know Chris won’t spare you once he finds out what you did.
If you really want to continue living a simple life like you’re living now, you know what to do. Good day!” he concluded and ended the call
I almost smashed my phone against the wall but after remembering I have so many important things on it, I dropped it on the bed angrily.
Could Chris really be the last heir like Dad thinks? This is getting complicated and I don’t like it one bit. If Chris is really the Rodriguez, then I can’t just sit by and watch. I have to do something quick before he finds out the truth.
Firstly, I need to speed my plans with Melissa up so Mitchell can divorce him. Once Mitchell divorces him and he becomes helpless, getting rid of him will become a piece of cake.
Now that I’ve finally found someone that loves me, I don’t want to do anything bad anymore. After getting rid of Chris, I will travel out of the country for a while and clear my head.
Chris POV
“Chris, where are you coming from?” Mitchell asked sitting up in bed
For the past few days, I’ve been staying out late at night and leaving the house early. Before I leave in the morning, Mitchell will be fast asleep and when I return, I will quietly walk to the couch and sleep on it without making any sound.
I’m about to do the same thing today as usual but it looks like luck isn’t on my side because Mitchell is glaring hærd at me right now. I don’t know what else to do apart from avoiding her after what I’ve done.
“Chris?” she called again
“I…I stopped by to see a friend and I didn’t know it was getting dark already” I stuttered
“Really? Did you stop by to see that same friend for the past seven days? I really don’t understand you anymore. Ever since you spent the night out, you’ve been acting strange and you’ve also been avoiding me. Can’t you tell me what’s wrong?” she asked frustratedly
“Nothing is wrong Mitchell, I just want to be alone for a while” he said
“You want to be alone for a while? Weren’t you the one that professed your love for me and asked us to start dating? Do you think dating someone is a joke?
You don’t tell me whenever something is wrong with you, you always hide things from me and treat me like a complete stranger. Tell me how you will feel if you were in my shoes” she raised her voice
“I….I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that” I apologized
“Forget it, you can sleep alone tonight” she said and took a pillow and duvet
I shut my eyes tightly after she closed the door and fell to the couch. I really don’t know what came over me that made me behave that way with Anna.
Ever since my teenage days, I’ve always distanced myself from ladies. Even when I discovered my feelings for Mitchell, I was quite surprised but I concluded she must be very special since I fell for her.
Anna is beautiful, no doubt about that but no matter how beautiful a girl is, I usually don’t develop feelings for them talk more of doing something unruly with them.
I’ve thought and thought about how to tell Mitchell what happened that night but nothing seems to be coming forth. I thought of avoiding her for a while before telling her but she’s extremely mad at me now.
I gro-ned in frustration and stood up to wash my face. I will try talking to her in the morning instead. By then, she would have forgiven me and we’ll be together again.
*Next morning*
I woke up early the next day so as to prepare breakfast for Mitchell. It seems like she loves breakfast in bed so I will do that for her and get a higher chance of being forgiven.
“Good morning beauty!” I greeted dropping the tray of food
“Morning” she mumbled and sat up in bed
“What’s this?” she asked pointing the tray of food
“It’s your favorite, I made it for you. Try it and tell me how it tastes” I urged anxiously
“I don’t have the appetite to eat right now, excuse me” she said and walked away without looking back
I stared at the food before me and tears almost dropped from my eyes. I haven’t even told her what happened yet and she’s already acting like this?
What will happen when I tell her the truth then? Is she going to end things with me and shut me out of her life for good?
I sighed softly and took the tray of food back to the kitchen after which I took my bath and got ready for work. I was on my way to the parking lot when my phone suddenly rang.
“Good morning detective” I greeted as I descended the stairs
“Morning sir! We’ve discovered something new, can you come over now and check it?” he asked
“Sure, I’ll be there in a jiffy” I quickly said and hanged up.
I got into my car and drove fast to the police station where the detective was.
“Good day! I’m here to see detective Karl” I said politely
“Come with me” a lady said and took me to an office
“Good morning sir” I greeted after seeing the detective
“Morning sir! Concerning the picture you gave us, we’ve been able to find who the man and woman in the picture were” he said and turned on his laptop
“This man here is wearing the same clothes and shoes like the man in the picture you brought and this woman is also wearing the same dress. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find anything about the girl” he explained
“Okay. Does this mean they are my parents?” I asked staring at him
“We can’t just conclude on that yet! They might be your parents but there’s also a possibility that they are your relatives, probably your uncle and aunt” he said and I nodded my head
What he said makes sense. If only my memory didn’t get wiped off, it would have been easier to get these things done.
“The necklace you gave us also. We’ve discovered that the one that originally belongs to you is a fake while the other one you took from that old man is the original” he said
“Wow! Were you able to get the meaning of what was written on the other necklace?” I asked
“Yes! It was written in Spanish and it means (Rodriguez Heirloom)” he said
“Rodriguez Heirloom? Is it my own Rodriguez?” I asked confusedly
“We also haven’t been able to confirm that yet, but not to worry. We have a hunch now so things will be a bit easier. Those men and women in the picture were the last members of the Rodriguez family and if you are their son, it means you are the last heir. We will call you as soon as we find anything again” he said
“Thank you so much detective, I really appreciate this” I said standing up
“You are welcome sir” he said and I left his office
Those people were the last members of the Rodriguez and I was in their midst. This thing is getting more complicated.
I opened my car and wanted getting in but I suddenly started seeing blurry images in my head. There was an image of myself and two girls but I couldn’t see their faces because it was blur.
I held my head in my palms when the pain became unbearable and finally lost consciousness.
