Kathryn’s POV

I carried out a DNA test on myself and dad to confirm if I’m really not his daughter and the test results showed negative.

The detective has started the investigation already but I’ve not been myself ever since I saw the result. I can’t believe that dad would treat me this way.

He didn’t even tell me that I wasn’t his daughter, I had to hear it from Chris who is an outsider. I knew he didn’t really love me but I thought I was overthinking things. I was hoping that one day, he would treat me right but I was completely wrong.

I heard that Mitchell has been in the hospital since last night but I don’t know about the full details. Coincidentally, the person that informed me also saw Kevin in the same hospital.

Why will Mitchell and Kevin be in the sake hospital at the same time? It looks somehow fishy to me. Chris wasn’t even in the hospital but Kevin was there. So many weird things has been happening lately and I really need a break badly.

The problem is that I can’t take a break until I find my real family. I have to know if they abandoned me or if I was snatched from them.

Mr Edward is going to pay for his crimes the moment I find out that he forcefully took me away from my parents.

I don’t care if he’s going to tell the world about how I pushed Chris sister which led to her death. My sentence will be reduced because it’s been long and I was also just a child then.

It will be regarded as a mistake but his will be different. He’s an adult and he was fully aware of what he was doing when he killed Chris’ parents and took over their company.

Robert’s call came in but I didn’t even have the courage to answer it so I just ended the call. I’m going to avoid him for now so he doesn’t feel bad. I won’t be able to think straight if we’re together and it’s definitely going to hurt his feelings.

Kevin’s POV

My eyes fluttered open and met with the ceiling. Where am I right now?

“Boss?” I heard one of my men call

“What happened to me?” I asked, realizing I was home

“Well, you suddenly passed out so we had to quickly call a doctor to come and treat you here” he explained

I passed out? Ahh! I must have passed out after seeing the result. But then, the result stated positive? How does that even make any sense?

Kathryn isn’t my sister, she doesn’t look like her in any way. Even if her face is supposed to change because she’s grown up, it shouldn’t change so much.

The doctor must have made a mistake while carrying out the test so I’m going to go to another hospital. But how will I get Kathryn’s hair now? I can’t possibly send my men to her house again right?

Besides, I don’t want to use her hair this time. Using her blood for the test will be much better and more accurate.

I have to create a situation where she will have to visit the hospital. While she’s unconscious, I will ask a nurse to take her blood and I’ll use it for the DNA test. Yes! That’s what I will do.

*Next morning*

Morning came earlier than I expected and I guess that’s because I could hærdly sleep a wink as a result of how anxious I was.

I already made the plan with my men last night and it’s very simple. Kathryn will be going out this morning so they just have to cause a minor accident. She will be taken to the hospital and I can get what I want then.

I’m sure this result is going to show negative because Kathryn isn’t my sister. I shouldn’t be nervous or anxious.

I was done bathing in no time and I hurriedly wore my clothes. My men already set out to do their job so they’re going to call me once it’s done and I’ll head to the hospital.

*30 minutes later*

I arrived at the hospital and got down from the car even before it was properly parked.

I rushed into the hospital and saw Kathryn being taken in on a stretcher. The wound was minor like I instructed but I guess she was placed on a stretcher as a result of shock.

I went to the doctor in charge and requested for Kathryn’s blood. After promising to pay him a huge amount, he finally agreed and I patiently waited for the DNA test result.

Mitchell’s POV

After taking my bath this morning, I’m currently with Chris in his ward. I’ve refused to eat anything until Chris wakes up and no one can change my mind.

The fact that he looks lifeless is scaring me and I can’t eat even if I want to. I held his hand and stared at his pale face with tears in my eyes.

“Chris, just open your eyes for me okay? I promise to treat you better and trust you completely from now one. Just please, stop closing your eyes and don’t lie down helplessly like this” I cried

I kept crying nonstop but I stopped when I felt his hand move against mine. I raised my head instantly and stared at his face. It was still closed but I could tell there was a difference.

“Chris? Chris, can you hear me? If you can, then please open your eyes or you won’t see me anymore when you wake up” I threatened

Even someone in a coma can still hear things around him so why won’t he? I sounded serious so he’s bound to open his eyes soon.

I sighed dejectedly after staring at his face for a few minutes without seeing any sign of movement. Suddenly, his eye lashes moved and I gasped in surprise. Is he going to wake up?

Slowly, like a movie, he opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. I’m not dreaming now, am I? Even if it’s a dream, I don’t want to wake up from it.

“Where am I?” he asked and I smiled out tears

“Chris!” I exclaimed and hugged him tight

“Mitchell? What am I doing here?” he asked looking around

“You were shot and you fell unconscious after the bullet was taken out” I explained briefly

“Ohh! I remember! How are you doing?” he asked me

“Why are you asking me what? You don’t need to worry about me, I’m fine. You’ve been unconscious and you just woke up now, worry about yourself instead and stop scaring me. I couldn’t even eat since morning” I mumbled

“Why didn’t you eat? What’s the time now?” he asked

“You don’t need to worry about the time. As long as you eat now, I’m going to eat too” I said

“Really? What if I refuse to eat for the next three days?” he scoffed

“I also won’t eat of course but just have it at the back of your mind that if something happens to me, it’s because of you” I threatened

“Fine then, I will eat” he gave up

“But seriously, why did you take the gun in my place? I was so scared when you refused to wake up” I pouted

“Really? I hope you now know how I felt when you took a bullet in my place” he shrugged

“It’s not fair, it’s like you had your revenge” I said

“So you’re saying I got shot on purpose?”

“Of course not! Let me get something for us to eat” I said and left

*Three days later*

Chris and I already got discharged from the hospital two days ago and dad made sure we never left the house for any reason.

We stayed at home for three days and we’ve fully recovered. Both of us were currently preparing to go to work.

I’m going to get a new land today so I can start the building of my second company. We are to build two companies each and since that man invested a lot on the first building, I’m going to start building the other one.

I’m sure both companies will be ready very soon so all that will remain is for me to make lots of profit within the shortest time possible.

Chris and I descended the stairs while smiling at each other. He said he was going to drive me to work before going to dad’s company. He’s so sweet.

The first person I saw when I got downstairs was my grandmother and surprisingly, my cousin, John was standing not to far from her. Somehow, a part of me said seeing him in the morning is a bad omen but I decided to shrug it off.

“Good morning grandma” Chris and I greeted her and proceeded to walk to the door but she stopped us.

“Is it because I’ve given you so much freedom that you think you can do whatsoever pleases you? How dare you try to ruin our family image?” she snapped

“How did I try to ruin our family’s image?” I asked calmly, trying so hærd to control myself

“Well, look at this picture. It has gone viral within a short period of time. John Campbell was still showing it to me when we suddenly saw that it was already trending” she said

Instead of taking her phone, I took out mine and checked the trending pictures. It was a picture of me in a bikini with a guy.

There were so many pictures of us k!$sing, holding hands and doing other intimate things. I never went to a beach recently and why would I wear a bikini when I’m married? My body belongs to only my husband now so how….?

As I looked at the picture closely, I noticed that there was something odd. The body was a bit smaller than mine and the lady had a tattoo on her back. I don’t have any tattoos on my body so this can only mean one thing.

I raised my head and stared at John in anger. He had a smirk on his face and I needed no one to tell me that he did this. He’s trying to make me look bad in the presence of grandma so I won’t be qualified for the position of heiress and I won’t let him succeed in his stupid plan.

“The person in this picture isn’t me. I know you’re familiar with a lot of detectives and others that investigate so I want to plead with you to investigate this case and I’m sure the truth will come to light” I said to grandmother with a smile

“I have to go now, see you later” I waved and went to the parking lot with Chris

“Are you okay?” Chris asked as I fastened my seat belt

“I…I guess I’m fine” I stuttered

“You can just stay at home today. I can bet that your agency has seen it already and they won’t stop taunting you, especially Kathryn” he said

“No, it’s fine. If I decide to stay at home, I will be confirming the pictures. Instead, I’ll go there with my head held high and tell the truth to whoever cares to listen.

I should have prepared myself for this after I accepted the task my grandparents gave to us. Hazel hasn’t even done anything yet so if I start sulking now, what will happen if they join hands together?” I asked

“But still, I’m worried. You now how those anti-fans can be and it’s not just them. You just recovered now so you shouldn’t be involved in a scandal”

“I’m honestly going to be fine. I have my guards with me and more importantly, I have the most caring boyfriend in the world so what else do I have to worry about? Don’t think about me and just focus on your work okay? I promise to return home safe and sound” I assured with a smile

“You promise!” he said

“Of course! Now let’s go” I giggled and relaxed my back as he drove off
