MR HUMILITY 🎢🎢🎢🎼🎼🎼🎻🎻🎀🎀🎀

Chapter 9πŸ€πŸ€ fififi

(Melody of confusion…..)

Lee stared in shock at he words written on Chan’s phone, blatantly asking her to get out of his room.

What the heck.

She was only trying to be nice. Why did this guy have to be a jerk all the time?

She turned around and stormed out of his room, but she had barely gotten two inches away from his doorstep when she heard him begin to wail again, trying to sing. She sighed. He really should take it easy. Forcing and straining his voice at this point wasn’t going to help him one bit.

She stood outside his room, and began to sing along with him. She didn’t know why, she just felt a strong oush in her heart to do so. She heard him stop singing, then heard some shuffling and sure enough, he was standing outside, looking at her. She was happy to have gotten his attention, but her kind actions were met with a rebuffal so fiercely, it almost knocked her off her feet.

“I don’t need your pity, or your help. Just stay the hell away from me.”

He didn’t even wait for her to get his bearings, before slamming the door in her face again. She stood staring open mouthed again at the door, wondering why on Earth she even bothered trying to intErΓ—Β’t with this human being.

As she turned round to storm back into her room, she heard her mom and Aster arriving in from the Vet’s. She spun round and bolted into the living room, where Aster was holding the kitten, as well as what looked like a nylon of drugs.

“So? What did the vet say?” She asked, as she gently took the kitten from Aster’s hands and began to pet it’s fur tenderly.

“It’ll be fine. It just needs plenty of rest, as well as to use the extremely expensive medicine we had to buy.”

She chuckled sheepishly at her mother, who shook her head and headed into the kitchen.

“So does that mean we’re keeping it mom?”

“Would you agree if I told you that we couldn’t? Plus, even If we weren’t, of course I’d at least let I heal first before taking it to a shelter or something.”

Lee giggled pleasantly, cooing at the kitten who had begun to lick her fingers. “Who’s a good kitty? I’m gonna name you Neon.”

“Mom said the feeding expenses are coming out of your allowance.”

“What?! Mom!”

“It’s only fair isn’t it? You’d better start saving some of your money then. Instead of spending it all on those…. whatever things you buy.”

“C’mon mom! I’m….also saving for college.”

“Ha! You could’ve fooled me.”

Aster looked around while his mom and his sister argued. “Hey…uh…Lee? Where’s Chan?”

Lee frowned, remembering their last conversation. “h0led up in his room, apparently trying to murder his voice.”
“What happened?”

“I don’t know bro. Why don’t you go ask him yourself?”

She saw her elder brother frown, then press his l-ips together. “It’s probably best not to. Most times, if he’s in a bad mood, it’s best to just let him be till he cools off.”

If only she had known that sooner, Lee thought to herself. But, even though she tried to be angry, she couldn’t help but remember a time that she had also lost something, a part of herself, and had hated the world and everyone in it as a result. She had probably acted and lashed out at everyone worse than Chan was right now.

Was that the reason why she was feeling this dull ache in her heart? Sure Chan was haughty, but he must really be having a hærd time not being able to do what he loved, she knew that better than anyone.

She sighed, and began to rub Neon’s fur.

Come on Liana, you’re beginning to spend too much time thinking about someone who clearly didn’t want her help.

She set the cat down, and headed back into her room.

She had no time to worry about Chan. After all, she had her own problems, right?

🎢🎢🎢🎢

Chan noticed that Lee avoided him for the next few days, and though he wanted to be happy about that, he couldn’t help but remember the look of shock that crossed her face when he and spoken harshly to her.

It was the same look that always crossed Cynthia’s face Everytime he spoke to her. He tried to put it out of his mind, but wasn’t able to, so he began to avoid her too. It was weird how Lee had been forcing her way into his thoughts lately, whether it was by annoying him, or surprising him, one way or another.

He hadn’t still gotten over what he had found out about his fans, but he had put it to the fact that either Cynthia wasn’t doing her job well, or those fans were just disloyal pieces of sc-m. It didn’t matter. He didn’t need them anyway. His fanbase was still going strong, and showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

He was still Chan.

‘Aren’t you tired of all this? Isn’t it exhausting living like this? Always blaming someone else?’

A still voice whispered the words in his heart, and they were so clear and audible he almost thought someone was talking beside him.

What did those words mean? Blaming others? Exhausted with his style of living?

Was…he?

Why would he be exhausted? There was nothing wrong with him. He was just someone living his life by his own rules, and refusing to be belittled by anyone, and recognizing his worth and superiority over others.

He was someone who refused to allow people to use him and leave him behind, he kept them at a distance, and abandoned them before they could abandon him. He wasn’t going to allow himself to be bent to someone else’s whim, not ever again. He had seen what living according to another person’s rules did to a person, and he wasn’t going to make that mistake.

‘If you close your eyes because of one person that put their finger in your eyes, you will miss the person that will offer you a remedy for the pain.’

The words stopped him in his tracks, and the people that came to his mind with those words, were Aster, Cynthia….and then Lee.

He bit his lip in what he wanted to be anger, but he was just feeling a deep sadness. He struggled to push it away, to get rid of it, but it wasn’t going away.

No. He refused to accept that. He refused to!

He stormed into the living room, where the family were already sitting at the table, getting ready to eat.

He noted that they always made sure to have all their meals together, and even though most of the time he ate separately and alone, he admitted that he enjoyed those little moments when it seemed like he was part of a family.

He sat down to eat, and Lee stormed in a few minutes after him heading straight for the fridge. He saw her mother sigh, and Aster chuckling lightly.

She slammed the fridge door loudly.

“Someone has been stealing my chocolate milk!”

“Liana, please, can’t we have lunch in peace this afternoon?”

“First of all, mom, my name is Lee. Secondly,we all know that the chocolate milk in this house is mine. We signed a contract in this house. So whoever has been breaching that contract now had better fess up!”

Aster’s mom sighed, and Aster turned to face his sister. “Lee, do you really have to deal with that now?”

Chan could hærdly believe the scene unfolding before him. Sometimes this Lee girl could be so mature, and then so childish.

That aside, he was the one that had been secretly taking her chocolate milk, but he wasn’t about to own up to that.

“Fine. Since no one is willing to take me seriously, I’ll just go out and buy some more!” She grabbed her coat and began to head out the door.

Chan weighed his options. It would be good if he knew exactly where she was buying the chocolate milk from, so that he wouldn’t have to be mooching off her anymore. He could give her money and tell her to buy some for him, but that would could tip her off that he was the culprit. It would be best if he followed her and knew the place himself under the presence of going to buy something else.

“Um…. I actually want to get anew shaving stick, so I’ll come with you.” He said, standing up and grabbing his hoodie.

Lee stared at him suspiciously for awhile, then scoffed and headed out the door.

Chan followed behind her quietly.

As soon as they were gone, Aster’s mom chuckled to herself. “Chan’s the one who has been stealing the milk isn’t it?”

“Definitely.” Aster answered, and they both laughed heartily, and continued with their lunch.

🎢🎢🎢

Lee walked briskly and as fast as she could, partly because she didn’t want to spend too much time outside and also because she wanted to spend a s little time as possible alone with Chan.

She could hear him walking quietly behind her, and she struggled to ignore his presence. She had pulled her hair over her face so as to hide it, and avoid stares form people, but she figured that she should have probably worn a hoodie instead.

“Are you trying to lose me?” She heard him ask as he caught up to her.

“Are you admitting that you’ll get lost if you don’t follow me?”

She heard him scoff, and then she rolled her eyes. As they began to reach the main road, she saw people noticing her and whispering to themselves, and she tried pulling her hair further over her face, even though she knew it was futile.

In her effort to hide her face, she didn’t watch where she was going, and she tripped over a rock, but before she could begin to fall, she felt a hand grab her arm and steady her.

She looked up and into Chan’s condemning eyes.

“What are you doing?”

She pushed him away. “None of your business.” She replied gruffly and turned around to continue walking.

“Liana? Liana Peterson?”

She froze at the sound of her name, then turned around to meet the eyes of a familiar, yet not so familiar elderly looking woman.

“Oh my gosh, I knew it was you. Darling, it’s been ages since I last saw you. Where have you been?”

Lee fiddled with her fingers, wanting nothing more than to escape from what she knew this conversation was going to lead to.

“Uh…uhmm….”

“Oh dear, you haven’t even been in school anymore. It’s been so long since anyone has even seen you outside! Goodness me, some of us even thought that you had left the island for good!”

“I’m….sorry…. ma’am..I really have to get going….”

“Oh dear Liana! Are you really still thinking about that incident? It’s been three years Liana, most people have moved on by now, you should too! Don’t you want to do something with your life? I heard you don’t even play instruments again! Are you just going to waste that talent? My dear Charles always lost all the musical competitions to you, if he knew you were wasting your talent this way he would…..”

“I’m sorry Miss.”

Liana looked up at the voice that was definitely not her own. Her heart had already begun to comstrict in her chest, and she felt tears clog at her eyelids as she had tried to shut out the woman’s words.

Chan grabbed her hand.

“I think you have the wrong person, ma’am. And you’re really holding us up.”

He didn’t wait for the woman to answer, but instead pulled her and began to walk away.

As soon as they and reached a distance away from the woman, he stopped took off his hoodie and threw it on her head. “Put that on. If you knew you didn’t want people to see you, why did you come out? You’ve been trying to hide your face since we left the house. Is chocolate milk really all that important?”

Lee stared in shock at the hoodie, and at the man who had given it to her, and much against her wish, she felt her heart thumping rapidly in her chest, and very unwanted blush heating up her cheeks.
