I slowly fastened my cufflinks as a means to wait for Bloom who thinks dressing up for over three hours made sense; the drivers and bodyguards were all tired of waiting for her. What exactly was she dressing? She don’t usually take long. I pulled up my sleeve and checked the time on my wristwatch.
‘For the love of Pete! Bloom!!!!’
‘I’m here!!!’ She shouted from behind the door, she stepped out that moment, struggling with her earrings with her shoes in her hand. ‘Sorry, couldn’t think of what to wear, be a darling and help me with the back zipper, would you?’ I looked at her with complete distaste:
1. Her hair was a mess, complete one.
2. No make up, at all.
3. She wasn’t wearing her shoes.
4. I hate the shoes.
5. What happened to jewelries? Did they go extinct.
6. The stupid peach dress was lace and plain, expensive but not fancy enough.
7. I hate peach.
8. Is she blind to the fact that I can see a unreasonable amount of her b-obs in what she is wearing?
9. Why does she look like I punched her eyes!
‘Bloom, what is the meaning of this?!’
‘What?’
‘What are you wearing?’
‘Er….’ She looked at herself in confusion. ‘Dress?’
‘What the f-ck is….are you always wearing lace dresses!’
‘Calm down, just zip this up for me,’ she turned her back to me. I grudgingly zipped the dress up, her shoulders are so expose. ‘You kept calling me and I’m a little bit disoriented, very disoriented.’
‘Are you a lace freak or something?’ I asked squatting down to wear her shoes. ‘Theo, get Naomi to pick out a necklace and brackets for Bloom,’ Instructed. I glared at the shoes and took them from her. ‘Answer?’
‘I never got the opportunity to go to any fancy parties; fundraisers, auctions, anniversaries, wedding ceremonies or any occasions that required I dress up like this, even when we had family dinners, important meetings that all children were needed, I was always indoor. I only got the chance to know the in,side of a club because of Leila, I attended frat all because of her but still it didn’t need such fancy dresses. I only have three, lace and mom forced them into my wardrobe.’
‘And you didn’t think that since you are married to me, you would need more?’
‘I honestly forgot and Leila have always been the one doing the shopping, I never get the urge to move my ass and even if I do, I s-ck.’
‘You already wore one, right?’
‘Two, remember the one I wore at the party Kristal threw for us? Before our wedding?’
‘This one is ugly, I hate it.’ I spat.
‘Well, this one is my favorite and the design is complex and….’
‘You need a new wardrobe, full stop.’ I stood up and stared at her hopeless hair, this is exhausting. The head maid who supervises the other maids to clean before they leave ran to us.
‘Here sir,’ she stretched a string of pearl to me, I took it and frowned at her earrings but it still blend tough. I wore her the necklace, she forgot the brackets but I was too tired to even ask.
‘Thank you Naomi, you can go.’
‘Thanks Naomi,’ Bloom smiled.
‘Your makeup kit ma, if you can spare me few minutes to fix something light for you….?’ She suggested.
‘Yes, please,’ I pushed Bloom forward.
‘Do I have to?’ She whined.
‘Hold still,’ I commanded.
There we were after thirty minutes, driving to the conference while Bloom dozed off, she have been very weak and drowsy lately. She sighed and sat up straight, if I didn’t know any better, I would have said she’s pregnant. ‘So, what is this conference all about?’ She asked the same question she have been sleep asking.
‘You are my PA, you should know.’
‘We need to discuss that,’
‘You being my PA?’ I asked with furrowed brows.
‘If I still work for you and see you at home everyday, it will be too much seeing and that will make me get tired.’
‘So, you don’t like seeing my face?’ I asked with mock hurt, placing my hand on my chest.
‘It’s not like that, I don’t know, it’s hærd to explain…. Yes! How would I miss you if I keep seeing you all the time? That would be lame.’
‘Touché, so what do you have in mind?’ I asked with a smirk.
‘I’ve always wanted to own a school, place my own rules in,’ she said with a dreamy gaze.
‘Why is that?’
‘Well, the school I went to,’ she shifted back. ‘Seeing the way the school was being govern, the oppression and unfairness. Everything about that school made me wish to have one but I pushed against the idea because I’m going to d…..I just wish I had a school.’ She said sadly and looked down at her fumbling hands. I looked at her dress again, I really hate this dress.
‘Hey,’ I said softly, taking her hand into mine. ‘What else is bothering you?’
‘Well, I….Teddie, Bernice stole her from me.’
‘I will get you another one,’
‘And a car? Can I drive one of your cars myself?’
‘And risk you driving yourself to death, no.’ I cut in sharply. She looked at me with her pouting smile, her cute smile.
‘I want to learn to face my fear, I need to try.’
‘Still not gonna happen,’ I scowled at the dress.
‘Okay,’ she murmured sadly. ‘How long does it take to get to the conference?’
‘In few minutes,’ she nodded and snuggled closer to me.
‘You have been too weak since we got back from our honeymoon, is everything okay?’
‘Nothing serious, I’m sorry. Plus, you drained all my energy with your lip ministration,’ she said softly. ‘Is it always so exhausting?’
‘You haven’t eaten for almost a day, since last night. Bloom, you are starting to make me worry, what’s going on with you? Is it a fever? I can take you to a hospital….’
‘No, all I need is you to hold me tight and never let go,’ she said softly. She dozed off after that, her body temperature was starting to burn up. I touched her forehead and closed my eyes, don’t get sick. I pat her back and took in a deep breath.
‘Alisdair!’ I whimpered at the sound of that voice. ‘Let me out!’
‘Go back in and stay there!’ I yelled back telepathically.
‘I need to comfort my bride!’
‘Comfort?! You almost killed her today!’
He whimpered. ‘I’m sorry, it was the rush of the minute, being free after so many years. I promise to handle her with care, just let me out for ten minutes….’
‘So you can force yourself on her, no thanks. I’m taking her slowly, earning her trust…’
‘In exactly eleven days, there would be no her to earn a trust from.’ He snapped.
‘How do you mean?’
‘Nevermind,’
‘Stay in there Argider, stay there forever.’
‘You are me and I am you, even if you keep convincing yourself that we are two different people. Without me, your overall authority will be average, without me, you won’t have the power in your tone to command the damn president! You need me Alis, just as much as I need you.’
‘What do you want from me?’
‘Bond, bond Alis, bond! I want to f-cking feel my bride! It might not be torturing for you as it is for me but I need and I must claim her! She’s mine!’
‘I will if you just chill, give me time. Would you prefer she hates you? F-ck! Me! She knows me, not you.’
‘Let me out!’
‘Get lost.’ I shut him back and inhaled, he has to remain in there.
Bloom
‘Bloom?’ Alis whispered into my ear.
‘Are we there yet?’
‘Yes, wake up.’
‘I want to sleep, lemme alone,’ he chuckled. I felt myself being carried out and stood on my feet, my head rest on his chest as he shielded me from cameras and noises. Something was very wrong with me, I couldn’t feel my body, like I was floating on air. I heard soft classical music, followed by me being lowered to a chair.
‘Bloom,’ his voice sounded drone with little echo. ‘Open your eyes, please!’ He tapped my cheeks, I managed to open my eyes. Everyone was looking at me; confused, puzzled, worried, nonchalance.
‘I can’t feel my head,’ I whispered, hopefully, he would hear. ‘I feel light headed.’
‘Goddammit! Why didn’t you eat anything! Do you want me to die of heart a attack if anything should happen to you?!’ I knew he was yelling but to me it sounded like a whisper. I closed my eyes back and rest in his arms. ‘Blair, delay the conference and shut the press out for now. Theo, get me something this stubborn girl can eat.’
~ Alisdair ~
I growled as I tried to shake Bloom out of it, she was definitely sick, she was weak. ‘Here sir,’ Theo said, dropping a covered plates of food on the table. ‘I was only able to get spaghetti bolognese, fried rice and cold energy drink.’
‘She’s allergic to spaghetti bolognese, take it away.’ He nodded and took it. I had Bloom on my laps as she slept with soft sobs.
‘Mr. Kendrick?’
‘I’m busy,’ I snapped at the woman.
‘I’m sorry, I just wanted to ask after her.’
‘She was fine earlier, don’t know what is wrong with her.’
‘Maybe – just thinking out loud here – she might be having pregnancy symptoms,’ my hand which was trying to force the food into her mouth froze, the thought was amusing. I looked at her and then every faces who were nodding in agreement, they don’t know anything.
‘Pregnancy what?’ I asked, feigning surprise.
‘Pregnancy, her body is pale and….I have a doctor degree and I am pretty sure she is pregnant. I think you should let her rest, loud noises might be affecting her.’ Wow, you need to have your degree taken back.
‘Eh?’ I asked dumbly again. Some men chuckled, hmmm, how would it feel like to even have a child?
‘Why don’t you let me take her to the back room? Give her some medications?’ She suggested politely. I certainly couldn’t look after her when I had so much to do, I shrugged and nodded.
‘Fred, Theo, go with her. After she leaves, stay there and watch her until I call for you.’
‘I don’t want to go anywhere,’ she whimpered, her grip around my neck tightened.
‘Bloom, you are choking me,’ I breathe.
‘I don’t want to leave, I’m fine, just tired. See,’ she forced her eyes opened and blinked very weakly. ‘Where am I again? Yes, conference.’
‘Theo,’ I called. He walked to me and scooped Bloom up, she whimpered again.
‘Put me down Theo!’ I kept my eyes on her until she was carried out.
‘Letting another man touch her, are you alright?’ Argider scorned.
‘She will be fine,’
‘Ali….’
‘Sir, if you don’t mind, I need to start the conference now.’
‘Okay,’
Bloom
The woman gave me some drugs but I refused to let her test me, I hate to let her examine me and find out I’m not pregnant. The news will carry it, let them, I want that. Anyways, she had left almost two hours ago, I was alone in the room with Theo and Fred standing guard. Theo was in,side, I trust him more than Fred who I made stand outside the room. I was trying to fight the exquisite voices in my head; the pounding headache, aching body and urge to stand up and run far away. The pain was severe but I had to hold it in.
‘Bloom,’ all my energy returned to me, I jumped up immediately and gasped. A viking looking man in a suit stood there smiling at me. He was younger than I expected with few wrinkles on his face but his claret eyes stood out. I looked at Theo who was now a stone, the wh0le room was covered with a pale claret cloud. ‘Nice to finally let you see my face, right Bloom?’
‘Who…who…who….’
‘I know you already know who I am,’
‘What do you want from me?’
‘With the recent happening, I have come to take you.’ He said with a sick smile.
‘You can’t, I still have right over myself,’ I said shakily, shifting back into the chair.
‘But my dear Bloom,’ he said striding towards me. ‘The time have come already, why do you think you are so weak.’
‘That’s a lie!’
‘You are coming with me Bloom,’ he whispered moving closer to my face. ‘You will come with me by will or by force.’
‘Never!’
‘Very well,’ he straightened up. ‘Force it is. How would you feel if I pull this building down on your darling husband? Lovely, am I right?’ My heart clenched at his words as more fear overrode my thinking department. ‘If you don’t want me to kill him, take my hand Bloom, follow me.’ He stretched his wrinkled hand to me.
‘And you promise to leave him alone?’ I sobbed.
‘By my words, just take my hand.’ I raised my shaky hand to take it but black blast pushed him over, he crashed on the cloud wall far ahead.
‘Make one more move on my sister and you won’t leave here the same,’ I sprinted instinctively and hid behind her. ‘You have no right to f-cking touch her, get lost!’ He stood up, smirked at me.
‘This isn’t over Bloom, not when I still breathe.’
‘Then you will die,’ Leila snarled. He let out a very maniacal laugh before he disappeared. Leila sighed with relief and turned to me. ‘Are you okay?’
‘He was going to kill Alis….aaaaah!’ I scre-med, cutting myself off. My eyes w¡dened with shock as my mouth fell open, Leila had never slapped me in her entire life.
‘How can you be so foolish!!!’ She thundered, she was yelling too? ‘The moment you gave him your hand, you would have willingly surrendered yourself into his care!!!’
‘But, he w….’
‘If he could, why didn’t he take you instead of threatening!!! Why haven’t he f-cking killed Alisdair yet!!!! Why didn’t he just pull down the building instead of asking!!!!’ She roared, I burst into tears, shifting away from her.
‘I’m sorry….’
‘Tell that to him!’ She yelled pointing at Theo. ‘You better start using your head before your head uses you!!!’
‘Leila…..’ She dashed into Theo’s body in her haze form, smashing him to the now normal wall. Theo broke into pieces, his body returned to normal. I fell on the floor and wailed, that was so foolish of me.
To be continued.
Who agrees with Leila? Me, I don’t blame Bloom, she was afraid. When people get scared, most times, they don’t think before they act.
Anyways, Leila to the rescue!
