Episode 25.

I wanted to shout, scre-m and see if it will help my bleeding heart to heal and maybe…just maybe it will take our pain from my life and it goes back to how it was at the first stage of our marriage.
When I think of it, Sam was only frustrated and needed to confide in someone.
Maybe I was more consumed by the need to care for our daughter that I wasn’t readily available for him when he needed it the most.
I could choose to get a new lawyer and to get us divorced and we will go our separate ways, since I know Jake will never let that happen.
I could just ignore him and walk away, I could… I could do many things especially walking away from him as he came closer but my legs refused to move.
My heart still swoops for him, my wh0le body still yearns for his touch, I still want to trust him, nothing… absolutely nothing has changed in my heart about him.
If not for anything else but for the promise I made to myself never to make my children products of broken home, I have to sacrifice…
When I look at it from a different perspective, I think divorce isn’t the actual thing, for one thing, I can’t live without my children and for another, I can’t imagine my life without Sam.
Now I understand why my own mother never loved me, my father too. After their separation, I ceased to exist to anyone of them.
Why? Because I remind them of each other, I am a big mistake, they chose to throw me from different foster home to another.
They don’t damn care if am okay or not, I grew up like an orphan while my parents were doing fine…I never want my kids to feel that way, never!
I told Sam, he knows everything about me and he chose to stand by my side even when people told him stories…he is everything I ever wanted.
I cried like a little girl in his arms when he hugged me and my mind went through the memory lane, from where we started and to where we are going.
“Am very sorry, honey. I promise this will never happen again” he apologized.
My step sister always tells me to always forgive but never to forget.
“I will think about it and know if you deserve to be forgiven” I mused and laughed admix tears.
“I will wait as long as it’s going to fetch a positive response” he smiled and wiped my tears.
“Idiot” Everyone bursted into laughter and that’s when I looked around to see the people who have played vital role in my life.
The people that are more than friends, the family that I never had, what more could one ever wish for apart from people who mean good for you.
“Thank you, Sweet Eva”
“Mama hasn’t forgiven you, she received a cruel and unusual punishment from her son” I whispered for his ears only and he knows what it means.
He turned slowly to look at his mother, he had to apologize for the bad treatment he gave her during her visit.
“Don’t waste your saliva because I have a rat poison ready for you,” she scuffed and went in,side.
“I have good news for you, son and don’t get scared, there’s no rat poison in this house” his father said and followed his wife.
“Let’s go in,side, Bob and Rose! I have missed Mama’s special delicacy!!” Sandra laughed helping Rose into the house.
My eyes followed Sandra surprisingly because I didn’t know when she came in, I looked over at Jake and he grinned cheek to cheek.
“I will carry the big man” Jake took Tyrone and went in,side too, they probably want us to have privacy.
“Eva, I feel very ashamed of myself for everything I must’ve done and the pains you went through…”
“I’m more ashamed of how distanced and unavailable I was when you needed me the most, I was wrong too” I buried my face on his chest.
“I promise you one thing today, I will toss every other thing away and give you the dream home you have always wanted” he patted strands of my hair.
“Am sorry for not making myself available for you and pushing you into the wrong hands” I had to apologize too.
“We can start anew to build another empire, though it will take a long process but with you by my side, I know I will achieve more than the last one”
“Does your company have any chance of survival?” I wanted to know and I hoped so.
“Actually, it has but I was just afraid to…”
“Shush, I have an idea, hope your workers are still there and trustworthy?” I questioned.
“Well, yes. I have really missed you, baby” He planted a playful k-ss on the tip of my nose.
“Can you get serious for now? I have this business…”
“You can tell me about it in bed, my love” he whispered close to my ear and looked at me mischievously.
“I think we should join others in,side, I don’t have your strength right this moment” I dragged him in,side the house with me.
“I love you, sweet Eva”
“I love you too, sweetheart and I have missed you a lot”

“Dad?!” I exclaimed surprised at how much my father is willing to give me so I would roll my company back to it’s feet.
“Yes, what makes a man is when the will power to never give up is boldly engraved in his heart and I am happy you and your wife is back in good terms” Papa commended.
I would have jumped up to hug him but Tyrone isn’t willing to leave my laps, he’s even trying to feed me.
“I will fund for all the required resources, my happiness is that you are not thinking of looking for that ingrate,” Jake offered with a blemishing smile.
“What?” Eva and I chorused, “that’s millions of naira that we are talking about!” Eva added gaping at him.
“I don’t want to promise anything but you two should know that I got your backs and am ready to support anyway I can” Sandra said.
“Oh, God, am sorry for disappointing you all, I should have…” My voice trailed off, why did I fail to notice my real family.
“God bless you all for your support and encouragement, I don’t know what we could have done without you” Eva said gratefully.
I took her hand from under the table and squeezed it passionately, that moment, I vowed to rise again, for the love of my life, for my precious gifts, for the people who mean well for me.
“The food is getting cold” Mama broke the sudden silence and everyone resumed eating.
“I have missed this special delicacy so so much!” Sandra blurted.
“Yes, it’s yummy. Mama, I will come for cooking lessons” Jake grinned.
“Seriously? I was hoping you would say that you will bring your new wife here for cooking lecture” Sandra teased.
“And I was hoping you would invite us over to eat your own food, you think you can whine my left n-pple,” Jake returned and we all laughed.
“Mama” Kate surprised us. She’s gradually learning how to talk…
