The stalker opened his mouth in shock as Udoka exchanged pleasantries with the soldier man and his company. He wondered what connection they had, he calmed down and waited for the soldier to drive off before stepping down from his car, he covered his head with his hoodie and bent down sticking his head into the car through the window picking up the big sun shade. He walked towards the building after wearing the sun shade, getting to the reception, he stopped and flashed the receptionist a smile and she gawked, he smirked, he knew he was gorgeous and so does everyone.
“Good afternoon sir, how may i help you?” the receptionist asked.
“I don’t know how to say this but my friend is in this hospital, i saw him few minutes ago but he didn’t hear me when i called out to him and i don’t know the exact ward he is admitted in” the stalker replied with the smile still plastered on his face.
“Okay sir, what is your friend’s name?” she asked opening the long note book.
“His name is Udoka” he replied.
“Am sorry sir but i will also need his surname for easy access” she said blinking her eye lashes.
“Just search around for Udoka, i saw him few minutes ago” he said trying to peep into the book.
“No sir, his surname is needed, you can call him on phone” she replied closing the book.
“Okay then” the stalker said with a shrug and left the building, he walked towards his car lost in thought. leaning on his car, he let out a full breath removing the sun shade. He shook his and walked to the other side of the car, opened the door and entered, concluding to forget Udoka and whatever bruhaha that surrounded him and focus more on his victim and his father’s doc-ments, he turned on the ignition and drove slowly towards the end of the car park and then he reversed driving towards the gate, he looked at the rear view mirror, the reflections of His father and Udoka were visible. He halted the car and drove back a little, the old man was seated on a wheelchair while the young man moved him around. The stalker covered his mouth in shock while still leaving his gaze on the mirror, he took his phone and dialed a number with shaking hands, the recipient answered on the fourth ring and with a broken voice, the stalker spoke.
“My father is not dead, the old man escaped death” he fumed.
“But how come?” sounded from the other end.
“I don’t know, i think Udoka took him to a hospital at the outskirt of Asaba” the stalker replied gritting his teeth.
“Hold on a bit, which Udoka?”
“My father’s employee, the head of the marketing department” the stalker replied hitting the steering “Damnit, i wasn’t smart after all” he raged.
“Then you have to finish the old man and this time around? make sure you make no mistakes, remember he never treated you like a son and if he lives, then no inheritance for you, Make sure you kill him as soon as possible” the person chided.
“I know, Ambler, i won’t spare him this time around, i will make sure he dies” he growled ending the call.
Episode 28
Melody rolled on her bed restlessly, she wondered if Joel was still angry with her, he didn’t breath a word to her throughout their journey home and he didn’t come for dinner either. She stood up from the bed pacing around the room, she stared at the decor of the room and smiled, “I wish i was born with a silver spoon” she said going towards the wardrobe, her clothes were scattered all over, she arranged them in a jiffy and checked the time, 7:56pm “What? why is the time moving slowly like a snail this night?” she sighed, picked her phone and typed “Hey, are you busy?” she stared at it for a few minutes before sending it to Joel. She laid down on the bed waiting for his reply and few minutes later, her phone vibrated in her hand, she clicked on the message box and read “no, am not, you want me to come to you?” she shook her head as though he was with her and typed “No, let me come to you instead” she sent leaving her room. Her heartbeat increased while she walked towards his room, she had a mixed feeling about how he would react. she knocked swiftly and almost immediately, the door flung open and she stepped into the cozy room for the second time since she came to the house.
“Hey, how are you doing? have a seat” Joel said pointing at the plastic chair pushed under a plastic table.
“I am fine, you didn’t come down for dinner?” she asked dragging the chair out settling down on it.
“I wasn’t really hungry” Joel replied casually staring at the TV.
“What are you watching?” Melody asked upon noticing the plasma television for the first time since she entered the room.
“Movie” Joel replied indifferently.
“Are you still angry with me? am sorry” she said sadly.
” I am not angry” Joel replied still leaving his gaze on the TV.
“I think i came at the wrong time, I will take my leave now” Melody said standing up from the seat walking away immediately.
“Please wait” Joel said softly “don’t go please, stay with me” he pleaded. Melody smiled walking towards the plastic chair she sat on earlier.
“No, not there, come sit with me” he said creating a space for her beside him. she shrugged walking towards the bed.
“So, what type of movies do you like?” Joel asked picking up the remote control.
“Do you have horror movies, let’s see it together” she replied with a smile.
“What kind of a girl are you?, how can lovers see a horror movie in the night? what happened to the rom-ntic movies that comes with cuddling and hugging?” Joel sneered.
“Are we lovers?” Melody asked the one question that was bothering her.
“Before nko? are we haters?” Joel chuckled.
“That is not what i mean sha. like are we an item now?” she asked again.
“Wait, don’t tell me i was talking to myself when i told you how i felt earlier today?” he asked turning to stare at her.
“I heard everything, i just want to be sure to avoid making another mistake, i have never been happy in a relationsh¡p, i just want to know if you really meant the things you said in the afternoon” she said avoiding his gaze.
“Melody, what i feel for you, i have never felt for another, not even for mercy. you are just so real, so natural, beautiful soul. I meant everything i said earlier today. you brighten my day, you make my heart beat faster than normal, I love you so much and from the depth of my heart” he replied snuggling up to her.
“But i am not even in the same social class with you, we are world’s apart” she said staring up at him.
“I am going to break protocols for your sake, i don’t care about class and tribalism, i go even carry your matter on top my head, you are amazing, your personality, your beauty, i love everything and even the way you walk like you are calculating your steps, damn, you kill me slowly girl” he chuckled.
“so you stare at me when i walk? i finally caught you” she laughed.
“It is no secret momma, i admire you a lot” Joel said taking her face up to stare at her “damn you are too beautiful, i can’t even get tired of starring” he said claiming her l-ips in a k-ss, she responded holding his neck. He car-ssed her back slowly shifting his l-ips to her neck, she mo-ned hugging him tight.
“I love you my Melody” Joel said hugging her as well.
“I love you too, my Jewel” Melody replied closing her eyes.
