FLASH BACK
Mr. Ojile’s premesis was disturbed by the sound of a hovering bike Jimmy parked in front of the house. Heroically, he stepped into the house to see the husband and wife staring at him innocently.
“Where is Rachael!” his voice was bold and loud to the hearing of Rachael from the underground room.
“Jimmy help me!” She yelled.
“Rachael!” He wanted to rush to the room but the parents stopped him saying at the same time, “You might have some kind of power in you, but you can’t escape now!”
They raised their hands in incantation, doors shut closed along with windows and the light went off. Jimmy became scared, pondering on what the two Talibans said about him having some kind of power. Was the power part of his rudeness? He wondered.
“I know both of you are the Talibans among humans.” he began in the darkness while Rachael listened from the basement. “We can settle this amicably, you’ll go back to your world and live happily ever after. Just don’t hurt Rachael. What you’re subjecting her to will take her life, please.”
“This is not just about us, it’s about taking revenge!” Mr Ojile turned into a shadow, attacked Jimmy invisibly by strangling him to death, while the wife also turned and escaped with Rachael.
Jimmy leaned on the wall as he battled with an invisible being. His breath seized and body paralyzed like one experiencing sleep paralysis. Like a candle lit, he felt a power within him and freed himself from the bondage by generating explosion through his thought alone which exploded the building…

CONTINUITY AFTER SOME HOURS
Tall trees from the woods of Ezra felt the cold weather brought by the night rain that had cars exploding in the sky. The leaves dangled in the direction of the wind like Christians worsh¡ppers waving their hands to God. The droplet of the rain ran down across Jimmy’s face who was lying in the middle of the forest, reminding him that he was still alive from brutal fight with the shadow. He staggered up to see his uniform torn in several places like a mad man. He touched his nostrils to see blood gradually dripping and flushing away immediately by the droplet rain.
“Mr Ojile!” his voice echoed in the woods. Though it was dark but he could see the shadow of trees. Hence, didn’t know which is Mr Ojile’s shadow. “Stop hiding from the shadows and fight me like a man!” he added unabashedly, looking around the strange place.
“You can’t stop us, Jimmy” a voice came behind a tree. Jimmy hastily turned to the sound wave to see Mr Ojile coming out from the shadow. “You will never see Amaya again.” he surged forward.
“Where is she?”
“She’s about to be a catalyst.”
“Catalyst to what!?”
Mr Ojile intentionally played deaf to the question, giggling and to embitter Jimmy’s state of anxiety. Therefore, the boy just imagined him dying in his arms. Instantly, an invisible force pulled Mr Ojile to his arm which he stretched forward as he imagined. Even Jimmy himself once again became surprise. Nevertheless, he hit the man on the floor as he struggled with his breath.
“Catalyst to what!? And where is she!?”” The boy shrieked.
Mr Ojile’s face suddenly began to grow old and decomposing like the gradual process of a dead body. Yet, Jimmy never let go of him until the man completely decomposed to dust of the earth. Jimmy slowly stood up, breathing heavily like one who just released more than a million sp**m in a woman through a s€×ual intercourse. He wouldn’t know coz he had never had s€× before.
“Catalyst…” he murmured. “It’s a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change. That’s what I was taught in school” he kept murmuring. “Wait, maybe Amaya doesn’t need to complete her remaining three night rain days to awaken the Talibans. They wanna fasten the process… but… but where and how? What are they gonna do to her?” He took on his heels, locating his position and his way back to the city.

The rain had stopped. Ghene city couldn’t control the explosion of cars and disintegration of pillars that caused the collapsing of buildings. People ran helter skelter for their lives as if rapture was taking place in the world. Mr. H., Kris’ father, and Mr Frank, Antonia’s father were driving that night when the accident happened. So Kris and Antonia could be seen running towards the scene from their respective homes until they clashed at a restricted point by policemen.
“Kris, what are you doing here? Have you by any chance seen my Daddy?” Antonia asked him.
The boy looked at her without saying a word, roaming his eyes around the burning cars from afar to see crowd of people mixed with police and military men. “My Dad isn’t home too.” he finally replied sarcastically.
“I learnt that a shadow attacked you the night you k-ssed Rachael. Why didn’t you tell her? As if that wasn’t enough, you broke her heart and missed her birthday.”
Kris provoked, glaring at the girl like a wrestler about to beat his opponent. “Your friend is a freak! Look at what she has done to us. I’ll personally kill her myself if anything happen to my Dad”
“So you know about it all this while but kept it from her. You’re pathetic and a coward!”
Kris couldn’t take the annoying words, so he raised his hand to slap her but a male voice that called her name from behind interrupted him. Antonai turned to see her father as the one calling. “Daddy!” she embrassed him, while Kris became jealous, wondering where his own father was.
“Daddy, I thought something has happened to you” Antonai said from the father’s shoulder.
“No, it didn’t affect me, my dear. I never knew Ojile’s family isn’t humans.” Mr Frank said.
“But Rachael is”
“It doesn’t matter. Let’s go home now.” Mr Frank patted her back. Through his shoulder, Antonia saw somebody like Jimmy slowly walking towards them. She couldn’t has recognized him if not the uniform on his body.
“Jimmy?” she disengaged from the father and walked to him. “Jimmy, are you okay? where is Rachael?” she asked politely.
The boy ignored her, surprisingly feeding his eyes on the damage caused by another night rain. He could see the burning vehicles, collapsed building and people running and shouting.
“Jimmy!” Antonia held his hand from behind. “Where is Rachael, please?”
The boy once again glanced at her then concentrated on the explosion, walking towards it like a zombie. Antonai became disappointed, ashamed and embarrassed.
Jimmy wished he could reverse the tragedy that had fallen the city. He tried using his power of imagination but it didn’t work, so tears began to run down from his eyes that caught with Kris’, yet ignored him. From afar, Hassan sighted him with the help of a flame that reflected on Jimmy’s face. Quickly he ran to him with his men.
“Jimmy, what’s the situation? Where are the Talibans?”
Jimmy ignored them as Antonia, Kris and others around watched from a corner. “The worst is yet to happen.” he finally said exhaustively, still staring at the explosion.
“We can eliminate it before another night rain if you tell us where they are.” Hassan persuaded.
Jimmy looked at him. “It won’t wait till another night rain. None of us will remain alive before dawn. They gonna use Amaya as a catalyst to boost the dead to life. We need not only to prepare, but to journey to the land of the Talibans. I guess Amaya is held captive there until she fufiles her destiny.”
“Then what are we waiting for?” Hassan began to assign some men to Jimmy and contacted the military too. Just then, the sound of power bike filled the air. Jimmy turned to see Jade, climbing down. She ran to him and hugged him to the sight of Antonia and Kris.
“Thank God you’re alive!”
“You need to take me to the world of the Talibans now”
“As you wish my love” Jade smiled, ran back to the bike, approached him with it like an expeditious rider. Before Jimmy climbed the bike, he saw Kris glaring at him for a reason he didn’t know. They sped off, followed by some military men.

All stood at the entrance of the world of the Talibans that was still glowing in blue colour. Surprisingly, the place was crowned by rising skeletons from the ground like the resurrection of the dead. Of course those were Talibans died at different places during the war even in the main city. They could also see three men covered in black robe, looking scary and deadly.
“I guess we’re late” one of the military men said as all positioned with their guns.
“Not too late. The process of catalyst is still taking place. That means Rachael might still be alive.” Jimmy replied. “Cover me while i invade into the yolk.” he commanded.
On the other hand, in,side the yolk, Rachael could be seen tied up half unclad on two hands that spread like a crucifix, dripping blood from her bloody wounded body. Below her was a burning fire where the blood was dripping into, thus completely resurrecting and forming the Talibans at every part of the world. Mrs. Ojile was standing before the fire with hands up, speaking in Arab from which the name ‘Amaya’ was derived when gunshot escalated from outside and Jimmy berging into the sacred chamber with full force but stopped at the sight of Rachael.
“Rachael!” he called.
Exhaustively, the poor girl turned her head towards the sound wave with eyes close. But she recognised the voice. “Ji…Jim..mmy..” She muttered in pains.
“Please, let her go!” Jimmy turned to Mrs Ojile who also turned to him.
“Your power is useless here.” She said while four fully formed Talibans approached Jimmy from behind with swords….
