Chapter 89 :- Choosing sides.

People often say these two statements, “the patient dog eats the fattest bone” and ” Good fortune comes to those who wait ” and I have to say they’re right. It’s been months since I started going steady with Ebinoluwa and during these times, I’ve been teased and tempted countless times with her natural goods. I can’t remember the countless times I’ve had wet dreams about her voluptuous body, it’s hard for a guy to remain still especially when he has a girlfriend like Ebinoluwa. There are moments when I thought of raping her but then I realized how awful it would be and the consequences that would follow.
Whenever I was at the lounge, I felt bitter and restless watching other couple having the best time of their life while I’m here moping in anguish. For a while, I was stuck in my own pit of self pity and desire that I failed to realize something very important. Unlike most of the females I’ve seen and heard of, Ebinoluwa is unique and pure. Her purity alone makes her special and dignified amongst all other ladies. I was glad that I was able to realize stupidity and my good fortune as Ebinoluwa’s love interest. The fact that I have her as my girlfriend puts me high above all other guys. Since I got that realization, I was content with the way things were going with Ebinoluwa. For a while, I thought our relationship would keep going on this level but gradually things began to change. It is said that for a woman to surrender herself to a man completely, she needs to feel comfortable and safe around him. I don’t know for sure but one thing I do know is that my relationship with Ebinoluwa just got more exciting.
At first, it was the kissing and touching then it moved to oral intimacy then finally the tasting of the sweet honey. Having sex with Ebinoluwa was nothing but a pleasure from paradise, I’ve had exciting s-xual escapades with Lola before but none of them felt more good and pleasurable as doing it with Ebinoluwa. Hours after my affair with Ebinoluwa, here I was in the lounge relaxing comfortably in my room. No words could describe how good I felt in that moment, it was like I was floating in the sky free from all the troubles in the world. Despite how rowdy and crazy the lounge is, I didn’t let that get to me cause I believed that nothing could spoil my good mood but I soon realized that I was wrong. Whilst I was busy relaxing in my room, I heard the sound of a resounding slap echoing all over the lounge. At first, I wasn’t bothered by it but then I began to perceive a scent which drew my attention. In that moment, I jumped out of my bed, rushed out of my room and went to where the scent was coming from and by the time I got there, I was shocked by what I saw.
Here before my very eyes stood a group of Supernatural beings ganging up on Morenike, they were tearing off her clothes and it was pretty clear what they were about to do, so I rushed in and came to her rescue before things get out of hand.

Morenike ➡ (struggling) PLEASE…. STOP!!

Ghoul ➡ (laughs) KEEP STRUGGLING! YOU’RE JUST MAKING IT MORE FUN.

Rotimi ➡ HEY!!……LET HER GO.

Immediately I said that, the Ghoul and his buddies turned to my direction staring at me viciously. They were silent for a while before they began to pour insults on me.

Ghoul ➡ Rotimi, if you know wetin better for you, MAKE YOU JAPA!

Mermaid ➡ YOU WAN DIE? ABEG COMMOT FOR HERE.

Violence is something I despite wholeheartedly cause I’ve been a victim of it once a long time ago but there are moments in life where one has to use violence to send a message across and this is one of those moments. After hearing the spiteful words from Morenike’s bullies, I remained calm and activated my bad luck powers bringing harm to all of them. The mermaid who was standing next to a socket got electrocuted after I made it blow. As for the Ghoul who was holding Morenike, I made the one of the big light balls hanging on the ceiling of the lounge land on top of his head and as for the wizard, he tried to chant up a spell but I made him bite his tongue pretty hard. Now free from her bullies, Morenike ran towards me and then placed herself behind me. Other members of the lounge who had witnessed what had occured, continued doing their stuff leaving Morenike alone.

Morenike ➡ Jesus! Thank you Rotimi, I thought I was done for.

Rotimi ➡ Well, you’re lucky I got your scent in time. Besides what are you doing here?

Morenike ➡ It’s Ebinoluwa. She wants you, Robin and the others to meet later in the afternoon.

Rotimi ➡ I’m afraid that won’t be possible.

Morenike ➡ Why?
.

Rotimi ➡ For starters, Doris and I aren’t on speaking terms. For some reason, she’s isolated herself from me. As for your Ex, he’s having relationship troubles with Lola. The 2 of them have been on each other’s necks lately.

Morenike ➡ I don’t know about Lola but I’m sure Robin can be persuaded.

Rotimi ➡ Okay, I’ll see what I can do. You go back home and tell Ebinoluwa that we will come.

Morenike ➡ Sure. See you later then.

Being summoned to the court is one of things I dread most in my life. It’s been decades since I was last came to the council hall and now that my presence is needed there, all I could get was discomfort and flashbacks of bad memories. Shortly after I left home, I teleported myself to the Witches realm and then proceeded straight to the Council hall where I met Rose standing defiantly in her jaw dropping clothes. Despite being a member of the council, Rose didn’t let that affect her choice of clothes and luckily for her, the council had strict dressing code.

Rose ➡ You came early. I thought you’d be late.

Christen ➡ Please I’m not in the mood for talk. Let’s just get this over with.
.

Rose ➡ Ah-ah, what’s with the hurry? Don’t tell me you and Riley have made plans?
.

Christen ➡ No, I just don’t like this place at all and even if Riley and I have plans, that’s none of your business.
.

Rose ➡ Bimpe’s concoction has turned you and your husband into jack rabbits. Small thing like this una go start to dey knack each other. Take it easy.

Christen ➡ Can we go inside already?

Without wasting anymore time, Rose and I went into the Council hall where we met other witches and wizards waiting for the Supreme witch to arrive. Despite the years that have passed, I could never forget what happened to Riley and I in this very hall. I could remember it like it was yesterday, his memories of me and our shared moments were wiped off completely and I was compelled to forget about him. I was very angry and mad cause going through those 10yrs pretending he didn’t exist was torture to me but alas, fate reunited us both at last.
As I walked through the crowds, I felt eyes all over me. The atmosphere was very chilling that my spine tingled. I didn’t need to read everyone’s mind to know what they are thinking. Despite my sacrifices and heroic efforts, there are those who resented me for loving and marrying a human. Honestly, I don’t care what my haters think, all I know is that I’m living the good life. Seeing that my presence was causing a little discomfort, I spaced and isolated myself from the others but even with that, there were those who wouldn’t just leave me alone. Shortly after I had isolated myself, one of the witches approached me and stood in front of me looking at me with disgust. The b-tch was hoping that I would say something but I ignored her pretending she wasn’t there. As I later found, the witch was related to one of the council members and like those who resented me, she couldn’t stand the sight of me. Not that I like to gloat but I bet she’s jealous that I’m very much good looking and attractive than her.

Witch ➡ Your presence is nothing but a foul odor in this honorable hall.

Christen ➡ (chuckles) Honorable? Really? The only odor I perceive here is the one coming from your mouth.

Witch ➡ What did you just say?
.

Christen ➡ (hisses) Mtcheww!
.

Witch ➡ (angry) You shameless b-tch! Just because you were allowed to marry that human garbage of yours doesn’t make you special. You even went ahead to stain our honor by spreading your legs and procreating with that human.

Christen ➡ Are you done?
.

Witch ➡ One of these days.. You’re going to lose everything that you’ve built with that human and we’ll see who laughs last. (Spits)

At first, I wasn’t going to react or give into whatever this b-tch was telling me but after I heard her last statement, I just couldn’t take it anymore. In that moment, I grabbed hold of the b-tch’s hair and bashed her face hard into the wall, then knock her off her feat by using a wind spell to pin her down. After that, I matched the b-tch’s head and rub it on the spit she spat from her mouth, everyone looked on silently without interfering. Rose who’s part of the council member watched on excitedly enjoying what she was seeing.

Witch ➡ (screams) ARRRGGGHHHHH! YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS, CHRISTEN.

Christen ➡ Oh really? How do you plan to do that when you’re at my mercy.

Witch ➡ (silence)

Christen ➡ Listen carefully.. IN FACT, ALL OF YOU SHOULD LISTEN. Marrying Riley was my choice and I don’t regret it. We witches do things based on our desires and interest so why should mine any less different? I don’t care what you think about me but if anyone threatens my family or tries to do anything that will jeopardize their safety, I will come for that person and I will not hesitate to kill whoever it is. EVERYONE SHOULD KEEP THEIR NOSE OUT OF MY LIFE! AM. I MAKING MYSELF CLEAR?

Shortly after that outburst, I felt something dark and sinister surging inside me. It was like an adrenaline of rage and raw power flowing through me like electric currents. Even my magic energy felt different, it was like some kind of darkness was building up inside me. At first, I thought it was just my imagination but then as I saw the shocked look on everyone’s faces in hall, I knew something was happening to me but it didn’t take me long to find out. In that moment, I noticed that my skin was pale white and my hair color had changed into some kind of grayish white color. Before I could figure out what was happening to me, the Supreme witch and the rest of the council appeared into the hall. After a quick observation, Orisaye sensed the tension in the hall and began to ask what happened.

Orisaye ➡ WHAT HAPPENED HERE?

Witch ➡ Your eminence, I was brutally assaulted by this tramp.
.

Orisaye ➡ Is it true? Was she falsely attacked?
.

Everyone hesitated before they answered though initially, they wanted to support the lying b-tch but after seeing what I had become, they decided to tell the truth. Rose was silent while all of this was going on, she could have backed me if she wanted but now that things have turned out like this, there was nothing for her to say.

Wizard ➡ No your eminence, Christen only resorted to violence because her family was being dragged in the mud by the reporter.

Witch 2 ➡ It’s true your eminence.
.

Orisaye ➡ Alright then, enough. Take your foot off her head.
.

Christen ➡ Yes your eminence.
.

I was surprised that Orisaye didn’t say anything about my transformation but as I looked at myself one more time, my body was already back to normal. After I joined the others, Orisaye rose up from her seat and began to address all of us. She talked steadily but briefly and her tone of her voice was very serious, not to mention the chilling atmosphere that made everyone listen attentively as if they were hypnotized.

Orisaye ➡ Greetings everyone. I’m sure you’re all wondering why you’re here and the reason is because, you’re all needed for your magical abilities. As you all know, there’s an evil threatening to destroy life itself, I’ve seen first hand the power of this evil and she needs to be stopped. Fortunately, we’ve been informed that Evil is having an assembly hours away from now. The assembly will be held in the old hidden witch coven in Oyo. We may not know what to expect that is why all of you here are going to be split up into groups. Christen.

Immediately Orisaye called out to me, everyone turned their eyes towards my direction, even I was surprised. I just hope she’s not going to make the leader of this groups cause I really don’t work well with other and I hate crowds.

Christen ➡ Yes your eminence?

Orisaye ➡ Since your magic allows you to bend nature, You shall be our backbone in this fight. Luckily for us, Ibadan is one of the bedrocks of nature so you can unleash your magic anyhow you see fit just as long as you don’t get carried away.

Christen ➡ Yes your eminence. It will be my pleasure.

Orisaye ➡ Remember everyone, whatever you do, don’t get close to Evlyn no matter what. It is said that she can steal the magic of any witch or wizard making it her own.

After Orisaye said that, there was a low grumble in the hall. It was obvious that everyone was greatly uncomfortable by what they heard and I can’t blame them. If Evlyn could steal magic and make it hers, then how many magic has she stolen during her time?

Orisaye ➡ I know some of you think this is crazy but we have to risk it. If Evlyn wins, it will be the end of the world.

Suddenly in that very moment, the witch that I had just roughed up moments ago spoke up and addressed Orisaye ; her statement however wasn’t a pleasing one but most of the witches and wizards in the hall supported her.
.

Witch ➡ Your eminence, if I may speak? Isn’t Evlyn targeting the humans? Why should we bother about them? We all know how vile the humans are. Whatever happens to them, it’s their fault.
.

Wizard ➡ True. If Evlyn is targeting the humans, we should stay out of it and let her decimate them.
.

Witch 2 ➡ I concur.
.

Orisaye ➡ FOOLS, what makes you think Evlyn will target only the humans? What she seeks is dominion over the world. Even we are not safe, if she gets what she wants, everyone will become her slave. The freedom we all enjoy now will be taken away. So wake up and come to your senses.

Although nobody said anything, I could tell that they had all been rattled by Orisaye’s statement. Every witch and wizard here has something to lose even if it’s not someone they love but something they cherish. At least, that alone will motivate them to fight.
.

Orisaye ➡ So if you all want to keep enjoy your lives, I believe you all know what to do. My junior council Rose will the operation and she will direct you all on how the mission will go. Good luck.

After that statement, Orisaye ended the meeting and disappeared with her all of her council except Rose. Without wasting anymore time, Rose went ahead to tell us inform us about her plans.

Rose ➡ Listen up everyone. Tomorrow night, we’re going to face the devil’s advocate, I can’t guarantee that we’ll be successful but we’ll have to try. Also, for those staying in the human realm will stay here, we’re all going to stay here and prepare ourselves for tomorrow. Alright everyone, follow me.

After hearing Rose’s statement, I went over to her place to complain about what she said. I know this is important but I can’t leave my husband and kids worrying about where I am.

Christen ➡ Sis, I have to send word to Riley and the kids about my whereabouts.

Rose ➡ Relax Christen, Your husband trusts you well enough.

Christen ➡ That’s not what I’m saying. Riley deserves to know where I am.

Rose ➡ Oh Mephistoph, what kind of witch are you? You’re getting more and more human everyday. Alright, I will send word but do not even think about sneaking out to meet him. I hope you can do without him for 24hrs?

Christen ➡ Of course. What do you take me for?

🐞 WRITER’S POV 🐞

Sparing hard with his wife’s cousin Adejumo on the open space of Idere hills, Riley gives it his all as he prepares for the job that’s he’s yet to know about. Oliver who has been supervising his brother-in-law was impressed by his improvement but he was soon annoyed by Bimpe’s who too was impressed and turned on by what she saw.

Bimpe ➡ Mmm, look at those sweaty abs and muscles.. Oh Riley, I’m so hot for you right now.
.

Oliver ➡ Are you really serious right now? We have a crisis in hand and all you’re thinking about is sex.

Bimpe ➡ Mind your business. Its a shame Christen isn’t here to see her hubby. I can’t wait to feel him inside me.. (moans)

Feeling spent and exhausted over his sparing match, Riley heads to his relative’s place where he collapses on the ground panting hard with sweat drenching his body. Without hesitation, Bimpe uses this opportunity to comfort Riley by cooling his off with cold drinks and of course caressing.

Riley ➡ And how will I do that?

Suddenly in that very moment, the bright sunny sky and atmosphere was covered with dark stormy clouds and strong yet steady winds. After witnessing the sudden change in the weather, Riley and his in-laws realize that the ancient witch had began making her move.

Adejumo ➡ She’s starting to make her move.
.

Bimpe ➡ I can’t believe this is going to happen.
.

Oliver ➡ You better believe it. I hope you’re ready Riley?
.

Riley ➡ Absolutely.
.

Oliver ➡ Good but before we go, there’s something I’d like to give you.
.

Riley ➡ What is it?
.

In that moment, Oliver opens his bag and brings out a black cloak, a tunic and a carved black mask with only 2 eye holes. After observing the items, Riley collects them staring at his brother in-law with confusion.

Riley ➡ Are these mine?
.

Oliver ➡ Yes, these outfits will make you invisible to human eyes but they will also conceal your presence from us. If you’re to fight this war without being noticed then, you’ll need these outfits. I hope you’re ready?
