Abigail opened her eyes and found Kingsley beside her chewing gum loudly,she was confused and didn’t know what to do

“Why am I here Kingsley? I remembered that you called me to come behind the school building which is your house so I don’t understand can you explain all this in a better way?”

“Abigail,I have been monitoring you since you gained admission into this school,look around all this building,it is my base and it is where I operate along with my members.i am the leader of black bird confraternity and we operate mostly at night.i intentionally tricked you to this place to use you for whatever work I want to do”

“Excuse me? Are you m.a.d? How dare you tricked me here…you just know me barely two months from now.how am I suitable for your work?” She asked shouting at him while he move closer to her.

“I see the signs in you when you came asking for help and running your mouth anyhow when u asked of your department,young lady! You should be Happy that you want to work for me because you will enjoy many benefits from this confraternity
Parts of it are::
1.No one will dare you in this school
2.you have the freedom to do anything
3.No lecturer dare messes with you
4.you will have a good grade and be protected
5.you will have your own money.

“I have run a secret and private investigation about your background and I can see that you will need alot of money which I am sure that your parents won’t be able to afford it” he replied raising her chin up while she brushed his fingers off her face.

“If you think my parents can’t pay for me fees then you must be a big joke to yourself because they will strive and struggle to see me succeed in life.i don’t need your dir.t.y job.i don’t want it” she shouted.

“You will want this one, because you have know my secret now and there is nothing you are going to do about it,if you refused to join me now then you will be dead”

A short guy walked up to him and wispher inaudible words into his ears while Abigail stare in shock.

“I will get back to him later” Kingsley said while the other guy left.

“Yeah! Back to discussion,I know that you are stubborn,it’s in your blood and I am going to s-ck that blood dry if you don’t Cooperate with me.babe see!! You know I like you” he said lowering his voice.

“I will give you the best protection in the world,this school is not safe for weak minded ladies like you,this is the surest thing right now,ask from your friend binta.she is part of d game”

On mentioning binta,Abigail gasped in shock,she didn’t expect her to belong to such group.no wonder,she always dress classy and expensive,so this is it.

“Give me time” Abigail replied while Kingsley laughed…

“Anyways,I will give you this year to ponder on it very well,you know we still have four months to go before this year runs out because the work I want you to carried out is next year,I want to train you ahead before the day comes and one last warning… whatever you see here,no one should hear about it.understood!!

“Yes” Abigail replied nodding her head while her eyes were covered before taking back to school.

She got back to her hostel and reminisce on everything,she knows that her parents are poor but they still managed to send her some money,if she joined Kingsley group,she will be able to fend for herself without disturbing her parents for a dime and most importantly,she is the first child.

Her friends are not around during the time that she was back from Kingsley place,she didn’t Know where they went to but she was sure that binta is among Kingsley gang but what about ayomide. shrugged the thought off her mind and settled down to eat,she slept afterwards.

The next day
She woke up early and dressed up for lectures as usual.she get out of her room and met Kingsley standing at the road side,she hissed and walk past him while he followed behind

“Abigail! Abigail!! Wait!!

“Are you trailing me all around,after all you have state d terms and condition of your group so what did you want from me?” She shouted while Kingsley quickly covered her mouth.she pushed him away and continue her journey

“Am not trailing you around Abigail,it’s for your own good,I was moved to pity the day you told me about your family.i want to remove you from poverty,you know I am your friend and I don’t want any harm near you please give it a thought.our group don’t hurt the innocent ones except those that offend us, consider this baby girl”he said while she nod her head before leaving for her classroom.

Getting to the lecture room,she met everyone scribbling down something on the note.perhaps,she is late and the lecturer has gave out a quick test to everyone.this saddens as heart as she stand along with some students that are also late for the class.They all waited patiently till the lecturer leaves.

Abigail walked up to the lecturer along with two students when he was trying to unlock his car.

“Good morning sir” they greeted
“How can I help you?” The lecture asked
“Sir, we are sorry sir,we came late for lectures today and we were unable to so the test please sir,will you conduct another test for us?” She asked the man searching his eyes for an answer.

“Hmm! I don’t know what is wrong with you children of nowadays,you take Everything for granted easily.you have missed this test and that is twenty marks”

“Ah please sir forgive us,conduct our own too test for us sir” they all pleaded but everything fell on deaf ears,the man drove off…

Does it mean that she is going to miss those marks?

Would she carry the course over or re run it?

She prayed to God for him to save her

She can’t lose the marks…

Abigail can’t afford to lose the marks,she is still in her hundred level and this is the third semester,what is she going to do?.she left for her house and met binta along with Ayomide at home.they both noticed her mood.

“Hey girlfriend,why is your face this dull?did you quarrel with anyone?” Binta asked.

“Where did you guys went to since yesterday that you left me alone in the house?”

“I went to my boyfriend place,he said that his mother is around and he will like to introduce me to her as his wife to be.i am so happy because it’s rare to see any guy that will take that steps in this era that we are in” ayomide replied while Abigail smiled.

“Are you sure that boyfriend of yours is genuine with all this wife to be stuff?’

“He is trustworthy girlfriend and talking about you,why did you look so dull?” Ayomide asked facing Abigail

“I missed mr Kenneth test and it cost me twenty marks”

“Twenty marks!!! That man marking scheme is hærd and the test will help you out if you don’t do well during the examination” binta interfered.

“How did you know about Mr kenneth,we are not in the same department?” Abigail asked

“Don’t worry girlfriend,I Know everyone in this school” she moved closer to Abigail ears and wispher

“This is d reason why you should join us,you won’t get afraid of any lectures deducting your mark” she wispher and lean back.

“So it’s true”

“What is true?” Ayomide asked since she didn’t know what Binta told her.

“Nevermind ” Abigail replied eyeing Binta.

“My advice to you is to be prayerful and read hærd for our upcoming examination which will take place in two months to this time” Ayomide replied

“I will dear, thanks sweetie”

“You are welcome”

They all helped each other in preparing their meals and ate before sleeping.

Time flies so fast and Abigail prepared well for her exam,she cant afford to lose any more mark in the oncoming exam.she avoided Kingsley like a plague while he let her be.

The day of the third semester examination arrived and Abigail dressed smartly,she has prepared well for this day and can’t afford to lose any more marks.she picked her writing materials and went in,side the examination hall.

They were all ordered to maintain a straight line,the invigilators collected everyone receipt before allowing them in,side the examination hall.they all get sitted while Abigail close her eyes for a brief prayer.

The invigilators distributed their question papers and answer script.opening the question before her,she trembled with fear.nit that she didn’t prepare for the examination but the fact that the lecturer twist the question.other students started murmuring while Abigail wiped her face very well before going through the question again.

She read and read the questions,digest it very well before having the idea of what to write,she scribble down her answers on the answer booklet.

After one and half four,she is done with her papers and relaxed a bit before submitting the papers.one of the guy in her class dayo tapped her from behind.

“Please Abigail,I see you scribbling down some answers on your question papers please can you tell me the answers to these questions,I don’t know anything in it” he said in wispher.

“Don’t you read at all?” Abigail asked in anger

“I read but I just don’t understand,help me out please” the guy pleaded but Abigail turned deaf ears to him.wheb Abigail see that the guy is disturbing her alot,she stand up and went to submit her papers.

She sighed out loudly after getting out of the examination hall and waited for her friends before going home.

After few minutes of waiting,dayo walked up to her and tapped her roughly.

“You refused to help me out right! I know what to do to ladies like you.its not that I didn’t know the answers to the questions but am somehow confused and you walked up to submit without telling me anything,do you know who I am?” Dayo asked shouting at Abigail

“Who are you by the way? You tapped me roughly and started shouting at me,is it by force to teach you,you want them to rusticate me for examination malpractice right! God won’t allow you” she shouted back at him which lead to more anger from dayo side.he slapped her while she held her chin in pain

“That is to show you how hærd I am,no one messes with me,ask of me around” dayo replied.Abigail got so angry that he slapped him back. people walked up to them to separate the fight and to calm them down.

Binta and Ayomide arrived the scene and tried to calm their friend back.dayo snapped his fingers at Abigail and left the scene.

Binta sensed trouble as Dayo snappy his fingers at Abigail,she picked up her phone and went to a corner before dialing Kingsley number.he promised to protect her and she end the call.

They all went back home.

At night
Abigail received an urgent call from her parents and she promised to call them back but unfortunately she had no credit and don’t have any money in her account to load direct from it.she picked her purse and went in search of card.binta volunteer to follow her but she declined

“Am not a small baby now,I can go by myself” she replied and left.

She walked fastly along the silent road,there is only one shop available for recharging and they have not close.she walked past to meet up with the shop.as she was about to cross the road to the shop, someone hand grabbed her back and slap her hærd across the face.she staggered and land on the Sandy soil.

She was about to stand up when the person hit her hærd on the stomach,she rolled on the floor wailing for help but no one seems to hear her.the other shop she want to cross to had their generator on and the sound don’t allow them to hear someone scre-ming.

Everywhere was dark and she didn’t see the guy face very well,he lifted her up and wispher into her ears

“I will deal with you,you won’t ever forget me in your life”

He pulled her on his shoulder and went his ways,walking fast through the tall grasses…
