Whisper episode 13

WHISPERS 🤫

Written by Kemmy B. Gabriel

🖤 Chapter Thirteen 🖤

It all came back to me that moment, I had seen him before countless of times, he was the man always coming to my school and playing with me. When I was younger, the strange man would meet me at the garden, I was always a loner so I never made friends or talked to anyone, I would sit at the school garden and read my kid books, paint or play make-believe. The man would come every Wednesdays and Fridays to play, I always looked forward to his visit. I loved him like hell, a day without him made me sad, but when he came, I would cry when he wanted to leave.

Sometimes he would be in my room on Sundays and play with me. “Don’t tell anyone about me or I won’t come see and play with you ever again.” He would warn me with a tender smile. I didn’t want him to go, I had no idea what my feelings for him was but I loved him. So, I didn’t tell anyone about him, it was better that way.

For as long as I can remember, he was always visiting me, from when I was three to fourteen. However, he started changing once I crossed puberty, by then I had met Tori and she was aware. She would always come into my room and shoo him off. We were living together then as we had been signed in, she always came and whenever I woke up, I wouldn’t remember what happened. In fact, I stopped remembering him since I was ten. Now it was all clear, it was now I remembered why I didn’t like any guy.

Anytime I tried, there was always this unclear face in my head, this hazy reason, like I was in love with someone else but can’t remember, like I was cheating on someone. I saw him in my dreams multiple times, but never thought about it until Tori banned him from seeing me at fourteen.

Remember I said he changed and was starting to act weird, confusing the hypnotised self out of me. How weird? He would sniff my hair for a long time and lick my neck to my chest. Sometimes he took a long wheeze of somewhere – if you know what I mean – and he made me touch him in “places”.

I recalled the night I saw him last. It was hazy because I was sleeping but my blurring eyes remember seeing a figure’s mouth allover my br-ast, he was holding me so tight and it was doing things to me. I remember having my clothes ripped off until I was bare to him, that was when Tori barged in.

“Are you f-cking crazy Arc! She’s f-cking fourteen!”

“Mine!” He growled at her, like an animal claiming a prey.

“I’m aware, but you have to control the beast in you, I know he badly wants her but he has to calm down for f-ck sake! This wasn’t our agreement! I promised you her but AFTER she defeats Cressida, you can’t freaking rip off her maidenhood without her permission! She needs to be in her right state of mind and not under this…this… Well this!” She pointed at me, at lost for words.

Arc snarled at her, I remember his eyes were completely maroon. Victoria stepped back and raised her hands up to show she wasn’t thinking of anything stupid. “Look Arc, I need you to listen to me, I know you are in there and you don’t want to do this because she is still literally a growing kid…” She eyed my form on the bed, “and I know you don’t want her to hate you when she finds out in the future. If you really love her and want her to be happy, if you Beastie love her as well, then you will calm down and wait for her. Please Arc, fight his control and don’t do this to her.”

Arc held his head, whimpering in pain as he sank down on the bed. Tori smiled, seeing that she was getting to him. “Come on man, I know you can do it, fight him! Come on, get a hold of your body and stop him, please!”

I drifted off to sleep, like dozed off. When I opened my eyes again, I was dressed and he had me in his arms, hugging me like it was the last time we would ever see. I remember a single drop of tear rolling down his cheek and falling on my face.

“Arc, are you sure you want me to ban you from seeing her?” Tori asked with concern. “Even if it will drive you mad for months?” He nodded positively. “You might never recover from the madness and will tear down everything to get to her…”

“Stop reminding me, I will have the oak lady chain me down until my beast cools off. This is the only way to protect her from me, I might have stopped him now, but I might never be able to stop him again. I don’t want to hurt my precious, I don’t want her to hate me.” He said with a shaky crying voice.

“You will never be able to see her again until she finds the three seals, I am going to use it as the spell binder, is that okay?”

“It is the only spell strong enough to hold me back, do it.” He said firmly, though his hands were shaking.

“Alright, let her go.” Tori said carefully, stepping back like she expected what would happen next.

“No! She’s mine!” He roared.

Wow, possessive much?

“Arc, remember this was your idea,” she said calmly, glancing at the door in case she need a quick getaway. “You don’t want to hurt her, right?”

“I don’t want to let her go,” he sobbed, the man was crying on my face.

“Arc, let her go gently.”

“But I don’t want to.” He cried, pulling me closer to himself. Victoria cursed under her breath and tapped her foot impatiently.

“I promise she won’t get hurt or lonely, I’ll take care of her…”

“But I love her, I don’t want to be without her.”

“Stop being a baby and quit the crying, you’re a man for Pete’s sake!” Tori snapped, throwing her hands up in exasperation.

“But I love her.” He lamented again. Tori hit her head on the wall and muttered something about she not expecting him to love me this much. I moved my hands and cupped his cheeks, his crying seemed to disturb my heart.

“Hello My Knight,” it was the nickname I gave him, “don’t cry or Ida will cry too.”

“I don’t want to leave you, I can’t stay without you.”

“I don’t understand what is going on, but I will be fine, I promise. And when the time comes, I will come back running to you.” My voice was so small and tender, like a delicate crystal… Or something like that.

“Promise?”

“Honour promise,” I whispered drowsily, wiping his tears away. “Just stop crying.”

My hands dropped, I think they spoke for a minute or so before I heard him roar something about killing Victoria for wanting to keep me away from him. My eyes were shut but I heard Tori scre-med, the door falling down with a bang and crashes around the house before Tori’s arms came around me. I opened my eyes a little, she was using me as a shield against him.

“Gosh, I miss my full powers,” I remember her lamenting. I couldn’t see Arc clearly, but I’m sure he didn’t look human. Tori began chanting something before he launched himself at her. She scre-med something calling upon the elements of water, fire and air before a bright light exploded, zapping Arc in his chest where his own seal was located.

He scre-med and scre-med and thrashed, struggling to get to me like an invisible force was pulling him back. I closed my eyes and dozed off, I never remembered anything again. Now I understand why I felt so empty and lost for months before I recovered, not completely but enough to live. I was so depressed and I didn’t even know why. At least I then knew why Tori would come and hug me every minute and understood why she gave me five male shirts. Whenever I wore them at night, I felt at peace and at home.

Wow, I was in love and had no Idea. Good job Victoria!

I mo-ned softly as I finally opened my eyes for real this time. I was staring at an endless sky with fireflies of different colours. In fact, I wouldn’t even call it a sky, it was void of light and filled with darkness, like limbo. Only that limbo didn’t have fireflies or rippling water. Speaking of which, I turned my head and looked to my side, an old woman with pewter grey hair and eyes was staring at me. She wore a sapphire gown, like the colour of the sapphire leafed oak tree. If I didn’t know any better, I would say she didn’t have feet as it connected to the giant roots I was laid on.

“You are awake,” she smiled, reaching her long crooked nails to brush the loose hair off my face. Her voice sounded the same as the one who spoke to me, “yes, it’s me. I know you have a lot of questions…”

“Not really, just a few.”

“And all I will answer, but you must first sit.” I easily propped myself up to my knees, before shifting back to lean on the roots. I felt weak and at the same time, not weak.

“Question one, what are the WHISPERS?” I went straight to the point.

“Wow, I was expecting you to ask something related to Arc, you are more serious than Victoria…” She paused when she saw the indifferent look I had on. “The whispers are the combination of dark spells, the words of the old sinners and the voices of the people killed by Cressida and her minions. The are incoherent, no one understands the languages, not even Cressida herself, or even me.

It has been forseen that the only one who can hear them is you, only you can listen to what the voices say if you try hærd. The next time it comes to you, listen to it and see if you can understand what the whispers is all about, maybe there was a message in there. But be careful, some words are a snare and will lure you to evil or worse! Those whispers are ancient and signifies darkness. Cressida was the first who listened and the first and only words she picked out turned her to what she is today.”

“Be careful, right. Next, why didn’t Victoria protect Sage? I remember what happened, why just me?”

“Just like the rest of your friends, Sage was just a pawn to Victoria’s plans. That girl is powerful, smart but most times, selfish and inconsiderate. I understand that the world’s safety is her duty, but placing the lives of others to fulfil a goal is wrong. Well, I guess in many risky adventure, there must be the scapegoats.”

“So, Judith and Emy are dead too?” I asked shakily, what would I tell their family!

“Emy was born to play a part in which she has, and Judith’s death will fulfil her part soon, as well as Sage’s.” She replied calmly.

I burst out crying, it was all wrong. Their memories filled my head, our singing together, dancing and all. My career was ruined, my life and future was destroyed. The woman tried to console me but it didn’t work. I was angry at myself for letting it happen, furious at Victoria was doing it and sad that I would never see them again. My convulsive cries and wail was bringing out something in me. I felt my iris changing, the colour of my hair turned white and levitated. I was covering my face as I cried but I knew it, the root began to withered as the wh0le place shook to it foundation.

“Do calm down child, or you will destroy this place…”

“No! No! No!!!” Something exploded above me, part of the tree. The woman scre-med in pain, I didn’t care. Branches and truck of the tree began tumbling down around me, the water turned black and rose up, forming malformed monsters.

“Arc!!!” The wh0le trembled as she scre-med his name. I hugged my knees as I cried more, burying my face into my laps. Wind gushed around me, w-t wind. I heard the flow of water, the gargling and knew a water tornado had covered me, I was doing all this.

“Idalia! Idalia please stop!”

“Go fly a kite! Get f-cked! Go to hell!!!” I heard him mo-ned in pain, I guess my mate instinct kicked in as I snapped my head up. “Arc? Arc? Are you there? Please don’t go, don’t leave me too, Arc!”

“I’m right here,” he gro-ned. I almost did a about-face to see him. His shoulder was bleeding, I whimpered knowing I did that.

“You are bleeding,” I cried.

“You told me to go to hell, so the demons you created were helping you do that. Unlike Victoria’s, you don’t always needs spell to do anything, your powers works with the words of your mouth mixed with your emotions. The stronger your emotions, the stronger it is and more dangerous to those around you. So I suggest you put your anger to shackles, calm down.”

“Gertcha,” I murmured, how did he even get past the water tornado? “Go away, I don’t want to talk to you or anyone else!”

“Here we go again…”

“Don’t come close!” I shouted, warning him to back off when he took a step. He eyed me carefully, contemplating risking it. “Do you know what Victoria did! She killed my friends for what?! What if Cressida reincarnates them for evil!!!”

“That’s the plan,” he was beside me before I could stop him. He pulled me into his arms and pinned me there. I tried punching and scre-ming, but he held me still, not letting go, even when I bit him. “I love you, and I will be here for you now and forever.”

On default I burst into tears again, squeezing his shirt and wailing loudly. He held me tighter, comforting me with every odd emotions he passed to me. The water lowered down, turning back to white and the demons expelling. The roots had half withered and the old woman was weakly leaning on the tree, hair partly black.

“I’m so sorry Ms Oak, I didn’t mean to, I’m so sorry,” I cried. She nodded, telling me she understood.

“I expected you to destroy the wh0le place, this is better than I imagined. You would have done worse if you were out in the world.”

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to.” I cried again.

“Do you want me to show you something that will make you feel better?” She asked gruffly, her hair was starting to change back as the tree began to heal. Arc turned me so I would see her well.

“Yes?”

“Look into my eyes.” I looked into her whirling eyes, mine zoomed in and I was instantly catapulted somewhere else.

It was like a dark witch’s coven, I was right. It was Cressida, she looked way older than the image of her I saw, but too young for someone who had lived so long. I gasped when I saw who all knelt behind her as she chanted spells around a circle of fire. Coco, Drusilla (who is Pinky from Pink Parade) and the most shocking of them all, Adriana. Adriana was f-cking one of them! Esme for that matter! I saw another standing behind the girls like a bodyguard, it was a large demon which my eyes quickly transformed to Sandro.

Oh this is so f-cking great!

The fire in the circle turned teal, it sea green smoke rose up and took the form of two girls, my friends. Judith and Sage stared back at them in confusion, she summoned their spirits. I stirred but Arc grabbed me, warning me to hold still.

“I am aware that you now know that Victoria used you as pawns to protect her daughter, am I right? Of course I am. Victoria is cruel and wicked, you did not deserve to die just like that. Join me and I shall help you seek revenge.” Cressida offered them with a warm smile.

Sage shook her head with a smile, “that is where you are wrong, I knew about my death from the moment I was born. I was a ghost given a chance to spend with her family, Victoria found me dead, murdered by my uncle and left to rot, a three years old child. She gave me life again, gave me a chance to return to live enough and set memories, to have fun for this condition. You cannot turn me against her, it is the contract I signed.”

My mouth hung open, so she was aware. No wonder Sage was so supportive and weird. Judith frowned.

“I never wanted to die! That is why I didn’t want to go to the town but I had to because it was why I was sent, wasn’t it? I would have died at birth but Tori gave me a chance but all I had to do was die and fulfil the last part. I so f-cking hate you for what you made me go through! I f-cking hell hate the world of the dead!!!”

Cressida panicked, but before she could shut it off, Judith’s smoke turned into a form and hit her right in the face. She fell down and scre-med in exquisite pain, the rest stood up in alert, Esme disappeared immediately with Sandro but Drusilla and Quincy wasn’t lucky. Sage turned into the phoenix of the fire seal and consumed Drusilla while Judith’s unknown form ripped Quincy’s head off. Drusilla scre-med and scre-med before she burst into nothing.

“And don’t you dare summon me again!” Judith screeched before her smoke abruptly stopped. The phoenix disappeared in a puff, leaving Cressida who was still on the ground gro-ning.

A black cat walked to her and licked her face, it made the pain stop. It was silence for a few minutes before Cressida scre-med. “Nightmare, I can’t see! I’m blind! That girl blind me!”

Wow, high five Judith.

Tori’s giggled filled the room. “Victoria, you…”

“Witch, yes I am, I agree. Sorry mom, but this time, I planned ahead. Good luck seeing when you have been permanently blinded, goodbye.” My eyes zoomed out, I indeed felt better and proud of my friends.

“That was Victoria’s last gift to you, the rest is up to you now.” Arc whispered.

“Cressida, she’s blind now?”

“Permanently, nothing is worse than been blinded by the dead. She would probably connect her eyes to her cat to see, but that spell will weaken her and make it difficult for her to use her powers, that way you can stop her easily.” He explained.

“How do I end that bitch!” I wasn’t one to curse, but I was as hell mad.

“You kill the cat, I hate cats,” I looked at him questioningly, “all dogs hate cats and I am a demon dog.”

“Demon what?”

“It’s hærd to explain but the simple explanation is that I can become whatever wild or mild canid I want, multiplied by the powers of being the ruler of the earth clan. We need to get you somewhere you would rest, I’m taking you back to my home…”

“But my friends, what will I tell their families?” I cried again.

“Emerald is still alive, Sage’s body would be discovered in the fire and identified in probably a week or two. It is simple, you all came to school and investigate for the museum and places you could take photoshoots. There was an accident and Sage was unfortunate along with others to be in that building. As for Judith, a wild animal got into the house you were staying which was Victoria’s and killed her, the broken balcony would be fixed to avoid suspicion…” I whimpered, Victoria is always ready for a plan.

“Emerald was out of town with her boyfriend when it happened, and you… Well, we’ll figure it out later.” So this was it, they were gone for good. It still felt like a dream, I wished it was but it wasn’t.

One thing was sure, I was going to make Cressida pay.

Look out grandmother, I’m coming for you!
