Back to school, I was starting to think the wh0le school thing was a mistake. I literally slept through all my classes, I was finding it more difficult to sleep at night. I yawned tiredly as I walked along the empty hall, itching my head. I could barely move my feet. I opened my eyes after yawning, only that I was seeing another hallway, the same but more old fashion and newer. Students laughed and chatted, going on with their normal lives. Unlike now, then you wouldn’t see students k-ssing each other in public.
I clutched my book to my chest, walking cautiously, no one could see me. I stopped when I saw a girl sitting at her wooden locker, reading quietly. Another girl sat down beside her, sketching something down.
“Drusilla, do you think Madam Rube would like my sketches?”
“Sure Esme, he would love it,” the girl reading the book said absent mindedly. The girls looked like they were between fifteen to sixteen. Drusilla had long curly black hair which were braided into big tails, tan skin and thick black eyebrows. Esme had her ash blonde hair permed. Her blonde hair didn’t go too way with her albino skin, small freckled skin and yellow eyes. If I had something to say about it, Esme wasn’t much to look at.
“Not him you dingbat, I’m talking about Madam Rube,” Esme said sheepishly, nudging Drusilla with her shoulder. Silla nodded, still not paying attention. “Silla, you are still not listening to me, pay me attention would ya!”
“Shh, I’m almost at the good part,” Silla shushed, the book seemed very interesting to her. Esme sighed sadly.
“Nobody ever listens to me,” she murmured.
“I do, and I always will,” someone passed through me and joined the girls, sitting beside grinning Esme.
Victoria.
She looked quite younger here with paler skin and beautiful royal blue eyes. Her plum l-ips shone brightly with purple lΒ‘pstick, her hair was platinum blonde. Victoria was still a beauty to behold, even more with the white hair. The colour suited her so well, like it was made to fit her alone.
“Victoria, I’m so glad you could join me, look what I sketched today…” Esme showed her the sketchbook. Tori took the book to scrutinise it while Esme stared anxiously, chewing on her pencil and hoping for a good comment.
“Esme, these are beautiful,” Tori admitted with sincere administration. ‘There is no way on this planet any reasonable seamstress would see this and throw it away, you are hired for sure.”
“You really think so?” Esme asked with tears of joy twinkling in her eyes.
“I know so, right Silla?” Tori leaned forward and looked at the black haired girl. She reached her hand forward and snatched the book.
“Hey! Who… Oh hi Victoria, when did you get here?” Silla asked with a smile. Tori stared at her blankly, “what did I do?” She quietly passed the sketchbook to her. Silla gasped when she saw the drawings. “Wow! Esme! You have outdone yourself with this one! Another master piece!”
Esme blushed, her blush extended to her ears. It made her look like a freckled elf for she had elflike ears. “I have to show Quincy this!”
“Show me what?” Another girl asked as she sauntered to them, a guy beside her. She had reddish brown hair, dark reddish brown hair with electric violet eyes. Her l-ips was a little bit odd, but other than that and her beigelike skin, she was beautiful.
The guy beside her had the same hair colour, only that his eyes were mulberry and skin cream. They even had this trait of similarity, they were twins.
“See what Esme drew,” Silla passed the book over to Quincy who took it daintily. She smiled when she saw the sketch then passed it over to her brother. Esme’s blush redden more, she obviously liked the boy.
“Esme, if you don’t enter this in the contest, I’ll kill you.” Quincy smiled. The guy looked at her from underneath his lashes, intentionally tormenting the poor girl. Esme played with the hem of her dress as she stared at me hands, his reply mattered most.
“It’s beautiful Esme, I am certain this would make Madam Rube choose you over all, your work makes others look like shit.” She couldn’t help the giggle that escaped her l-ips at his comment.
“How would you know that? You haven’t seen the other works.” Quincy snorted.
“I know because no one is as talented as my Esme,”
“Stop,” Esme said sheepishly covering her face.
“Please, you people shouldn’t start with the love thing, this is why I don’t like my brother courting my friend, it’s disgusting.” Quincy looked serious but I could tell she was only teasing Esme.
“We aren’t together,” Esme said shyly.
“We would if you stop rejecting me,” he said frowningly.
“But I’m not your type Quinn, I lack beauty and what it takes to be with a…”
“I’ve told you to stop making decisions for me Esme,” Quinn said angrily, “you are not my type and yet my feelings for you haven’t waver. Stop making excuses and tell me to my face that you don’t want anything to do with me because you prefer the far older boy that parades himself as a soldier. If you really want me to move on, then stop using the same excuse, look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t feel a thing for me. I’m leaving first.” He trampled off, cursing under his breath with his thick British accent.
“I didn’t mean to anger him, I just can’t accept him,” Esme cried. Tori wiped her tears away.
“It’s okay Esme, we understand why,” Quincy said sadly, “I believe Tori is close to mixing up a cure for your illness, then you would be fine and be able to date with no fear of dying.”
“I’m almost there Esme, just one more ingredient to go.” Tori assured her. Esme nodded. The wh0le thing faded away when my phone buzzed. I blinked my eyes in shock, another trance.
I knew the school was old, but I never knew it was that old. Victoria and her friends attended this very same school. Only then, it was highschool, not college.
I shook my head and continued walking, I saw the janitor trying to move a heavy bucket. The old man needed to retire. I hurried over to him with a smile. “Can I help? I’m strong.”
“Sorry child, I don’t want to bother y…” I lifted the bucket up easily. “Oh, can you help me throw that outside and keep it in my closet?”
“Sure thing sir, you go rest while I handle this, you need to quit this stressful job.”
“I can’t quit my child, I have mouths to feed.” He said sadly. I started walking while he followed me slowly.
“What exactly do you wish to do if you had enough money to?” I questioned curiously.
“Reopen my shoe business, that’s for sure. Debt made me shut it down, I sold everything and had no profit to buy more. I’m not that old, just the stress of life.” I looked at his salt and pepper hair, indeed.
“Have you cleared your debts?”
“With grace, last month I paid the last money. Now I have to save up for my granddaughter’s college fee, her parents are no more and it is my responsibility to care for my son’s children. Once she can get the scholarshΒ‘p to attend this school and her brother get the final money for his treatment, I’ll think about my dream.”
“Hmm, how much are we talking about here? For everything to be settled?”
“My dear a thousand euros won’t solve it,”
“How much do you need?” I repeated.
“€5000, that’s if I want all the problems of my life to be solved.” I laughed mentally, that peanut?
“Your name is Janitor Josiah Haworth, right?”
“Hosea Haworth,” he corrected. I smiled and nodded.
“Get some rest sir, and don’t freak out when your phone rings.” I winked at him and hurried to the other hall. After throwing the soapy water away, I brought out my phone and called my manager.
“Candy, good to hear from you,”
“You too Seth, you too. How’s my charity fund coming?”
“Still getting pumped, you still have many across the world donating each passing day, and your daily wages from your stories in Amazon are coming in handy. I already forwarded the money to all the orphanages and hospitals you listed, don’t worry.”
“Do I have any money left in the account?”
“Millions, why?”
“Help me get the account number of a Mr. Hosea Haworth that works as a janitor in my school. Dark skinned, salt and pepper hair and brown eyes. He’s about Judith’s height due to aging and…”
“Got it,” I smiled, that’s why I love having him as my manger, he is also a computer lord. “How much am I forwarding to him?”
“€6500,”
“Anything else?”
“Brush your teeth Seth, I can perceive your bad breath from this angle.” He laughed and hung up, I could never ask for a better manager.
I pocketed my phone and carried the empty bucket to the janitor’s closet, swaying the bucket as I hummed. I stopped when I heard incoherent whispers in the empty hall, the voices were unclear. I shrugged it off and continued my way to the closet. Immediately I opened the door, I was catapulted into another trance.
The room was dark, larger than the main janitor closet. I couldn’t see anything but equipments and cleaning supplies. I looked behind me, the hallway was empty and free of all sound and people. I looked back into the closet, I could hear voices.
“Quinn please, don’t make me do this, I beg you,” Esme sobbed.
“It’s just going to be once, stop acting like a child.” Quinn snapped impatiently.
“But…but…what if we get caught? We’d be expelled and my family would never live off the shame, I can’t do that to them. Please, don’t compel me into such sinful act, not when we aren’t properly binded by the law. I can conceive, my father would kill me.”
“Look, I told you I accidentally swallowed my father’s drug, I thought it was mine since he dropped it on the dinner table. I believe it is what he takes before he lies with my mother, if not I won’t be burning like this. Do you want me to seek comfort in the arms of any of the loose ladies in this school?”
“No, I don’t want you to, I can’t bear it.” Esme cried.
“My thought exactly, why seek comfort from them when I have you to quench this heat. Esme please, I promise I won’t be hΓ¦rd on you and will never let a soul know about your deflowerment, not a soul. Neither will I ever bother you again, I won’t leave you either.”
“And if I end up conceiving? What do we do about the child? I might be seventeen but I still have a lot to do with my life.” Seventeen? They looked younger. I remembered that in those days, even a fourteen years old was considered ready for marriage.
“Don’t worry about that, now keep your voice down while I…”
“Quinn! Don’t touch my…”
“Shhh,” he shushed. I couldn’t see anything but I was wondering why I was being made to listen to this. The worse part was that I couldn’t leave, I had to stay to the very end.
“Why can’t we do this in your home? It’s safer.”
“My maids live there, plus anybody can walk in anytime. Also, the urgency is now, not later. I believe you have some spare dresses in your locker in case this one get stained, or do you want to take it all off?”
My mother would kill me if she finds out I’m listening to this old crap. Modern children would spit it out blank, mom was gone anyways.
“I’m not comfortable here, can we go somewhere no one would pass soon?” Esme asked shakily. I could tell she didn’t want to do it, but also didn’t want to lose Quinn to another.
“Alright, I know a better place.” I waited, they came out, passed through me and walked out. I followed them, I still had to finish the trance. They moved out of the main building inconspicuously. I followed them to a small barn like house, like a place something was once kept.
“Are you sure about this place?”
“No one ever comes here,” the place was indeed empty. Quinn bustled Esme into the small house. I tapped my foot impatiently, why was I here again? Probably because this part was important.
Soon I could hear Esme’s whimpers and mo-ns, Quinn’s heavy breathing and hungry k-sses. I was really uncomfortable. It felt like something was trying to touch me, I looked around, I couldn’t see anything or anyone. I shrugged it off, must be the trance. I could still hear those incoherent whispers, it had gotten louder and yet it made no sense.
Esme scre-med, obviously from the final plunging. Her scre-m became muffled, Quinn must have covered her mouth. I dared to walk to the window and looked in, I wish I didn’t. I scre-med and ran back.
“Oh God! Get it out of my brain! Ew! Ew! Ew!” I would never unsee that. Men, I’m a prude. I felt like throwing up, it was disgusting.
The torture finally came to an end when Esme leaped out of the house. Quinn followed with a satisfied and victorious smile, hitching up his trousers.
“I think I’ll go home, I need to take some medicine to kill this pain,” Esme said tearily.
“Oh, here, I borrowed it from Quincy, she takes this after visiting her betrothed.” The small packet he gave her didn’t look nice, I had a bad feeling about it. Esme took it, murmured a “thank you” and leapt away.
“Yes! Soon she will come to me with the big news and would have no choice but to marry me. I won’t let Old Billy take you away from me Esme, I’ve succeeded in claiming your maidenhood like I should.”
“I don’t know,” Quincy walked out from behind the house with a sad face, “you are making me betray my friend, Quinn I don’t like it.”
“Dear sister, don’t you want me to be happy? Don’t you love me?” Quinn asked with a pitiful look. “I love her, I love Esme with my all, I’ll die if Billy gets her first. Do you want me to die? Should I attempt suicide again?”
“No! Please don’t Quinn, I’ll keep my mouth shut, I promise. But you cannot be sure just once will get her pregnant.” Quinn was manipulating his sister, was this love or obsession?
“And that is why you have promised to make the necessary arrangement, you invite her to the treehouse, drug her…”
“And then you have your way,” Quincy muttered. “Can’t you just try luring her again? I’m sure if she tries it one more time, you will fully have her under your spell.”
“Or my witch sister could conjure up something for me, I don’t want to lose Esme.” He whined. Quincy heaved heavily, brushing her hair out of her face.
“Try to lure her first, if she doesn’t accept, then I’ll use my magic on her. Esme isn’t that strong, she can’t resist me… But Tori can, she will sense the spell on Esme as she is always taking care of her. The magic won’t work, I guess the drugging would be the next option.”
“Oh thank you Quincy, I love you dearest big sister.” He said happily, hugging his older twin. The images faded away. I was at the back of the school, far from the school in a cemetery!
“Holy cheese!” I shrieked and ran. These trance would kill me.

Idalia walked along the hallway of her school, swinging the mopping bucket in her hand as she hummed a song. She was unaware of the danger following her. She paused when she heard the whispers, looked around but saw nothing. The young girl shrugged and continued her merry walk to the janitor’s closet. She opened the door and froze there.
From the shadow behind her, an unknown form stepped out, staring at it victim with a sneer. The poor thing didn’t know what was coming to her. Three creatures killed the townsfolk. The first one by running it hand into the victim’s heart, causing the victim to die of heart attack and also crushing them with large objects. The second killed it victims with fire, either by burning the house of or the victim him or herself. The last feasted on their stomach org-ns, an horrible way to die.
Idalia was about to be attack by one who gave heart attack. The being stepped forward, wondering why the young girl stood still as if waiting for the attack. She hit a barrier, there was a barrier covering the girl, one she was familiar with.
“Victoria,” the being snarled. She didn’t understand, why would Victoria protect this single girl, not just her but her friends. She had tried to harm the others but couldn’t. The tallest one with weaved hair sensed it coming and disappeared, it eyes burnt when it saw the green one, and the last one reflected the sunlight on it, almost scorching it delicate skin.
It watched helplessly, all four girls weren’t ordinary. Idalia walked, heading to where it couldn’t fathom. Growling with impatience, she followed the girl with hope that she could do something to finish her victim. The girl walked to the cemetery and stood there, staring into space. She shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other, like she wasn’t happy being here.
Why would she be at the school’s cemetery?… The being questioned. The being tried again, reaching her hand into the barrier, using her claws to rip it open.
The girl looked around, like she could feel her death coming. She shrugged and looked back at the same space she had been looking at. The being gro-ned in pain as it tried to rip the barrier with all it strength. Then she moved, Idalia moved to another place, throwing away all it efforts.
“Why you little…” Idalia ran back to her previous position, the being was more than furious now. There was no way she was leaving without ripping the human’s heart out.
“Oh God! Get it out of my brain! Ew! Ew! Ew!” Idalia scre-med with great irritation. Something was wrong with the weird kid. Then the girl moved again. The being transformed into it full form and hurled itself through the barrier.
But the strangest thing happened, the moment the barrier broke, the girl’s body transformed into fire and coal. The being landed on her body and scrambled back, whimpering and whining, the flame burnt it miserably. The flame was eating into her stomach where it touched, it had to return to it master for healing.
Immediately it turned around to run, it saw two pairs of golden eyes watching, a death glare in it eyes. Of course, no wonder the girl was untouchable, the one protecting her was standing there and warning it to get away. With one last look at the human girl, the being ran off to return with it legion.
Idalia remained there, lost in her trance and unaware of what had happened around her. The form watching her huffed and ran off, the girl better get her head straight before she loses it.
To be continued.
Idalia really needs to get her head in check, but what is Victoria trying to show her? How it all happened? What led to their deaths? Who is behind it?
Is it one of her friends? Who?
Oh well, you’ll find out soon enough. πŸ˜‰
