Who Am I without you episode 13
I knew I had to be the happiest girl on earth right now. No matter how much my mother would disturb me, I had someone that would sooth those pain with words of love. Bolu would pick me up every Friday night after work and we would have dinner at his place. The more we got to know each other the more we fell in love with each other. The funniest part about my life at that moment was the fact that my Ex kept warning me to stay off Bolu.
“I can just fire him now, and end everything so easily.” Bolu said to me as we were on our way back to my house after our afternoon outing. I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I couldn’t let go of my Ex. It’s not that I was still in love with him but he was still the father of my child! If he loses everything, my son will suffer as he grows up. I couldn’t voice my fear to Bolu about him not accepting my son as his own someday. I was scared that he would wake up one morning and realize that he can no longer take care of a woman and her child who isn’t even his! I was treading on unknown territories.
“Is there another way to solve this?” I asked him. He looked at me as if I was out of my mind.
“Lola what are you saying? I thought you would agree to this.”
“I know, I know it’s just that…..well…” I was finding it hærd to speak.
“Well what?” he asked.
“Can we not talk about this right now? I really had a nice time, and I don’t want to ruin it.” We drove to my house in silence. If I told him what I was thinking about he would say I did not trust him.
When we got to my house, nobody needed to tell me to get out of the car as fast as I could. I was about to close the car door when he asked “So no goodbye from you?” I closed the door and kept walking towards my house as if I didn’t hear what he said. I heard him calling my name but I wasn’t going to turn back.
“If you go into that house, that’s it for us!” he yelled. Why was I so stubborn? It’s the only way I have learned to live my life. When I can’t handle a situation I rather shut it down forever. When I heard him say “That’s it for us” I almost turned around but I am the kind to take risks whatever will happen will happen. In a blink of an eye he was there pulling my hands backwards. How he got from his car to where I was, I didn’t know. All I knew was that he was holding me so close to me.
“Why are you always like this? You’re angry all the time. We are meant to argue, nothing is ever perfect and I am not going to go along with everything you say all the time.”
“Bolu it’s just that am scared.” I could hear my voice shaking.
“I understand, we will be fine.”
“Do you trust me?”He asked raising my jaw up close as his l-ips captured mine.
“Lola!” we quickly jerked back as I heard my mother’s voice.
I started to stutter “I guess…..I will….well Bolu just go now okay.” I quickly gave him a peck.
“Are you not going to invite your friend for dinner?” my mom asked me as she eyed Bolu’s car. She obviously didn’t care about the look I gave her, she still insisted he comes in.
“Why leave such a fine young man outside without welcoming him in.” she started to walk closer to Bolu. “My son, I know you must be hungry.”
“Mama!” I yelled. I didn’t want to be rude in front of Bolu but I knew her scheme, I would not let Bolu be her victim.
“Good evening ma, I was just on my way home maybe another time.” He simply said with a smile. I was so angry I rushed into the house. I heard Bolu’s car pull off and my mom calling me, “Lola who is he? Is he the owner of that car?” she kept on asking me questions she already knew the answers to. When I opened the door to our living room, the sight that welcomed me almost knocked me out of breathe.
“Mama! Mama!” I kept on scre-ming. Kate was lying on the floor lifeless. A pool of blood surrounding her. I rushed to my knees to raise her lifeless body next to mine.
“Kate, please open your eyes!” I kept on yelling slapping her face gently to get a response. My mother rushed but what she saw made her go into shock.
“Mama!” I yelled but she wasn’t responding either. I didn’t know what to do.
“Mummy!” I heard my son call out to me out of no where. That was the last thing I expected. I could not let him see all this.
“Dare stay where you are don’t come out okay………..mummy will be with you soon.” I could hear the light sound of his footsteps as he made his way forward.
“Dare I said stay……….” Too late, there was nothing I could do to shade him from this horror. He began to cry “Is Aunty Kate alright?” he managed to ask. Both my mother and son were in shock, and Kate was not breathing!
“Yes, just go to your room okay?” I spoke as calm as I could to not alarm him. I was relieved when I saw him turn around to his room.
“You stupid girl! What have you done to yourself?” I quickly pulled out my phone from my back pocket and dialed Bolu’s number.
“Bolu please come back to the house…….My sister……….something happened……….she’s not breathing!” he was begging me to slow down.
“Alright am on my way.”
I didn’t care whether he ran here with his car all that mattered was that in less than 5 minutes he was with me. We quickly got Kate into his car. My mother was still in shock with everything.
“Mama, don’t do this right now! Your Kate needs you.” I kept trying to talk to her. We had no time to talk I managed to get her into the car along with us. My mother finally regained her composure when we got to the hospital, and she saw the nurse’s rolling Kate in. She started weeping, asking me what I did to Kate.
“Mama what are you talking about? I asked her.
“We don’t have time from this Lola.” I heard Bolu call out to me. My mother grabbed a hold on my shirt asking me what I did to my own sister. Has she lost her mind? It was sick to hear that she would think I would harm my own sister!
“I knew you never liked her so this is how you’re going to finish her for me?” It took a couple of nurse’s there to get her to remove her hands from my clothes. Bolu had gone in with the doctor to where they kept Kate. When my mother finally came back to her senses few minutes later, she rushed into the ward they kept Kate.
“Doctor, what is wrong with my daughter!” she yelled at the doctor. Bolu and I simply backed away to give her some space.
“Madam, maybe we should talk about this in my office. ” he offered. My mother insisted he spoke to her right there.
“Well after all our tests, it seemed your daughter tried taking abortion pills. She took more than was required that’s why her body responded to the attack.” He broke the news to us.
“We are still trying to totally flush the drugs out of her system.” He continued. “Now do you know why she might have done that?” he asked my mom curiously. My mother looked at him as if the guy didn’t understand his job description.
“Abortion? Doctor what are you talking about? Kate was never pregnant talk-less of abortion.” She said to him.
“Madam…….” She didn’t let the doctor finish she turned to me saying
“Tell him that our Kate was never pregnant, where is he getting this from?”
“She is definitely not pregnant anymore” I thought to myself as I walked closer to my mother because she seemed like she would lose it within seconds. The news was too much for her. Then out of nowhere she asked the doctor
“Hope you were able to remove that thing from her?” The doctor looked at her repulsively and said,
“Well since the abortion process didn’t fully take place, am sorry to say; the baby is very much still healthy.” My mother fainted.
“Mama!” I scre-med as I rushed to catch her falling body. The other nurse’s rushed in and took her into another room leaving me on the floor. When I looked up, I saw Bolu’s hands stretched out to me.
“Let’s get you home.” He said.
