Ruthie paid her a visit. It’s been long since they talked nor saw each other.
Natalie sat with her at the sitting room, chatting happily about those past few weeks they never met each other.
” So tell me, how about your cousin brother?” Ruthie asked after a brief silence.
” Well, before I get to that, I’ll like to make a little confession.” She said.
Ruthie rose an eyebrow at her. ” Tell me you didn’t steal the company’s money cos that’s the only thing that can lead to a sincere confession.”
Natalie laughed, shooking her head. ” No, I’m not a stealer.”
” So?”
” I never lived with my cousin, and he’s definitely not related to me by blood. I was just…” She paused. ” honestly, the wh0le truth is… he isn’t my cousin.”
” Now let me tell you the real honest truth, you really are complicated and I actually don’t understand where you are heading to. Right now.”
” Okay. ” Natalie sighed again. “This is it. He is the son to my father’s best friend. Though, he had every annoying attitude I told you but, something changed. Things happened to change along the way.”
” Which is?” She asked.
” We fell in love with each other.” Natalie said without hesitation. As if she was talking to a Rev for a clear confirmation of their wedding.
” Oh, my God! Tell me you aren’t joking.”
” I’m not. And that isn’t the problem, I don’t know.” She shook her head, not ready to tell her the real truth.
” Come on, Nat. It’s not as if I’m gonna have this discussion displayed on media or anything. I’m not even recording the conversation. You should be open to talk to me.
Are you scared of telling me who this lover boy is? Or you think I might, what is it called again, stalk on him behind your back?” She questioned, trying to get to know why Natalie has turned so cold all of a sudden.
For the third time, Natalie took a deep breath. ” I wasn’t actually thinking about any of that.”
” Then say something while it’s still raw.”
” Fine. His name is Draco Luciano.” She finally released the truth to Ruthie whose mouth opened in shock.
” What the f-ck, Nat!” She exclaimed. ” You are dating a Drug Lord? City of London’s most wanted for crying out loud?!”
” Ruthie…”
” Oh my God, honestly right now I don’t even know what to say. I mean, I’m speechless right now. Is that why you had to leave the job, because you don’t wanna get caught?” She asked.
” No. No, I wouldn’t quit my just because of him. You know my reason for quitting, it’s for father and his company.”
” I understand. But…” waved her hand in the air. ” let’s just focus on the current fact about this. Now, I’m talking about the consequences hereafter.
It’s obviously okay for you to fall in love with whosoever you want, but… what happens when everyone finds out you’re dating a gangster.
And please don’t expect me to mention what type of gangster I’m talking about.”
” It’s almost a month we’ve had this close entanglement with each other. The government will find out about us only if one of us had to make it publicized.”
” It doesn’t matter who makes it publicized, Nat. What matters is the fact that your life is being endangered coupling with a drug lord.
Eyes are everywhere for him. And when this eyes learns you have a thing to do with him, then boom, you’re their main target to get to him.”
Natalie didn’t doubt her a bit. She has experienced a lot of such scenes so it’s obviously clear, she’s the real target for anyone to get to Draco.
But that’s not the case here, Ruthie was only being caring and concerned for her best friend.
” Is your father aware of this relationsh¡p?” Ruthie asked.
” Not yet. But I will tell him of it when he returns. ” Natalie said as if she was talking to her elder sister.
” So, when will he be returning?” She asked again.
” Tommorow. Certainly. ”
” I know things turns out so good when he eventually finds out.”
” I hope so too ”
The conversation was later intruded with the part about them being so rom-ntic and this alone got Ruthie glued to the er-tic scene.
Honestly, despite Nat being her best friend and more like a sister, she was actually her role model.
She has never for once questioned her decision, so doing so today was actually because of the part of them being… Sisterly bonded.
” I’m going crazy with the love now, Nat. Please tell me this is one of those fictional novels we read back in college. ”
” I’m for real. We’ve had s*x for about four time now. ”
Ruthie covered her mouth with her palms.” Oh father Lord. Have you gone for check up since then? I mean, at least to check if there’s any newbie. Maybe a new BradeLuc. ”
Natalie laughed. ” I don’t feel strange. ”
” So that means you guys use c-ndoms? ” She said, giving her a questioning look.
” No. It went straight.”
” Then that means we’re expecting a new BradeLuc (Bradeson and Luciano). Look, sweetheart, most women experience pregnancy even without them knowing that.
It doesn’t have to knock at your door with a microphone to tell you that you actually are pregnant. You just have to be ready for it. ”
” But… what if my father or his own father doesn’t see the other side of our relationsh¡p. I don’t know, it might end up their own friendsh¡p. ” She said bitterly.
” Now let me tell you something you don’t know. If your father’s really understand each other then, they won’t have to decline a relationsh¡p involving their children.
Besides, you two aren’t kids anymore and would probably not stay single forever. And again, if this Draco of a guy really loves you, he won’t have to trouble himself about your parents decision, he decides for his future. ”
” Like? ”
” Anything. Do I in anyway resemble him? ”
” You’re the relationsh¡p brainiac here, so you should probably know. ”
” Well, even if I should have a concrete guess about things like this, there’s a huge difference between us. He’s a gangster and I’m a journalist, so I don’t know what he’s thinking. ”
” Nevermind. ” They faded the conversation with a brief toast of wine.
The conversation became a secret between the two girls and no one else.
Natalie spent the rest of the day thinking on how the next day will turn out with her explaining her feelings for Draco
She wants to believe that her father will seldomly concor to their relationsh¡p, besides his father is a close friend to him.
It was as if Natalie’s heart would explode, like she was keeping a huge murder secret all to herself.
For the first time since she lived with her father, she was feeling this scared to approach him.
And she was scared of nothing but his reply.

The night finally passed by though she wished it wouldn’t. She texted Draco and immediately he replied back.
” I feel scared.” She wrote.
” I understand and you have every right to. ”
” But… I don’t know. I don’t want to go all this way with a big NO from him. It’s tomorrow, and I can’t believe I’m this scared. ”
” We’ll work this out together. I’ll say it over and over again, no one is going to stop the love I have for you. Talking about your father, he’s not my problem now. ”
” Who is? ”
” My father. ”
Natalie didn’t understand what he meant by that. She’d say Mr Luciano was really much of an understanding man.
He wouldn’t say no to them, besides his simplicity was worth it that she almost doubted the man to be a Drug king.
” Wait a sec, I thought your father is still at Spain.” She texted after a while.
But Draco was always available for her chats. ” Yes, but he’ll be back to the state tomorrow or next.”
Natalie thought carefully over this. Was this some kind of set up or what?
How come the both of them are returning on the same day?
Was this some kind of made up trip to get both her and Draco to understand each other?
Or is she actually overthinking it to be that very reason for their travel.
Natalie texted, ” I don’t think they actually did travel for real, what do you think?”
” Thought as much though. ”
” When you mentioned your father being the real problem, what exactly do you mean? ”
” He might be so simple and loyal, but he has his way of life. He’s probably different from the outside, and talking about the in,side part of him, it’s some thing you won’t love to hear. ”
” He’s dangerous? ”
” Double times. ”
” Never saw that in him back then before he travelled. ”
” He isn’t the publized type of person. He’s cool with you cos you’re the daughter of his best friend. So, he’s got a reason for acting that way. ”
” You sound like you hate him or something. ”
” No, I don’t. ”
” Talk to me. ”
” My mother didn’t just die out of some unknown courses, she was murdered. ”
” What? ”
“They had bribed the doctors to fake a lie about her death. ”
” How did you get to know about this? ” She asked.
” Because I saw it happen. I saw him murder her right before my eyes. ” He said with an angry emoji.” And that isn’t the most annoying part, he proudly said it was part of being a leader.
Scoffs. Like seriously, killing someone so dare to me was part of being a fu*king leader! So I swear before her body that I will avenge her death. Not today, but some day. ”
Now, Natalie could feel the hotness of his anger. Something about him she prayed never to see.
