Riley Jr ➡ Come with you? Sorry, we just met and I barely know you.

Hadiza ➡ I can’t blame you for being cautious but please Riley, your help is needed desperately.
.

One of the things I learnt from my parents was never to trust strangers and I agree with that wholeheartedly but then there was something about Hadiza that was urging me to follow her.
Okay, I’ll admit that she’s very beautiful and all but after observing her and listening to her words, I realized there was no sinister intent from her or threat. In fact, her words were pure and sincere. Maybe what I’m doing is reckless but the least I could do is find out what Hadiza wanted my help for plus I could score good points with her in the long run.

Riley Jr ➡ Okay fine but I won’t stay long.
.

Hadiza ➡ Sure. Follow me.
.

In that moment as I got closer to Hadiza, she waved her hand and opened a portal. I was hoping we’d teleport but it seems that wasn’t the case. After opening the portal, Hadiza went in first before I followed her in and as soon as we got to the other side of the portal, I shocked to see that we were in a desert.

Riley Jr ➡ Where are we?
.

Hadiza ➡ Desert region of chad.
.

Riley Jr ➡ But you’re fulani.
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes, we don’t stay in one place. We move around.
.

Riley Jr ➡ With cattle and I don’t see any.
.

Hadiza ➡ (laughs) No silly, we’re wanderers. We love to explore places and see new things but we do have a small herd of cattle.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Anyways can’t you teleport?
.

Hadiza ➡ No. Teleportation is quite hærd for the witches in the region so we use portals instead, it’s more easier.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Unbelievable. So where do we go now?
.

Hadiza ➡ We’re already at my place. Follow me.
.

Walking majestically on the sand while swaying her lovely h¡ps, Hadiza led me to where the other witches were. I was thinking that the place would be far but then I soon realized that we were already there. After walking for a few minutes, I followed Hadiza into an invisible camouflage dome where I noticed the other witches living in tents and huts. It was like a small community and their lifestyle was simple and rural. I was amazed that there was still a settlement such as this but what amazed me even more was the dome which made them invisible to the outside world.

Hadiza ➡ Welcome to my community.

Riley Jr ➡ Why don’t you live in cities like the other witches?
.

Hadiza ➡ It’s too crowded and noisy. Out here it’s calm and peaceful.
.

Riley Jr ➡ More like boring. How long have your people stayed here?
.

Hadiza ➡ 300yrs. We relocated to other places every 500yrs.
.

Riley Jr ➡ WHAT!? How old are you?
.

Hadiza ➡ 180yrs. In the eyes of the humans, I look like any other 18yr old girl.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Oboi. So you were born here?
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes. Come, let me take you to my father, he’s the head of our community.
.

After that, I followed Hadiza quietly without saying or uttering a word although I couldn’t help but feast my eyes with surroundings in which she lived in. The place was nice and the women were very beautiful and ripe but their lifestyle is just too rural. There was nothing like technology here, no modern building or transportation, the place was the perfect example of a backward civilization.
Minutes later, Hadiza and I arrived in front of a huge tent which was guarded by some muscled wizards. As soon as the guards saw Hadiza and I, they bowed and opened the tent for us to enter. After entering the tent, Hadiza led me straight to her father’s place and by the time we arrived there, I came face to face with an old wizard sitting on a soft animal fur smoking Arabian shisha steadily with comfort.

Hadiza ➡ Sannu Baba, I have brought our guest.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Good evening sir.
.

Jamal ➡ Greetings young wizard. It is an honour to meet with the caster of anti magic. Please have a seat.
.

After sitting comfortably on the fur, Hadiza excused herself and left walking away majestically. As my eyes followed Hadiza, her old man grimaced as he saw the way I was staring at his daughter.
.

Jamal ➡ She’s a fine jewel isn’t she?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Uh, yes sir.
.

Jamal ➡ Hmm, do you fancy her?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Uhm, well.. I.
.

Jamal ➡ (laughs) I believe that’s a yes. Anyways, let’s get down to business.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Yes, why am I here? Hadiza said you need my help.
.

Jamal ➡ She’s right. I sent her to seek you out. I know you’re young but there’s a storm coming and your power is highly valuable.
.

Riley Jr ➡ What storm are you talking about her?
.

Jamal ➡ Lately there has been rumors that an ancient dark power has risen and it’s threatening to consume the world.
.

Riley Jr ➡ But it’s just a rumor.
.

Jamal ➡ But rumors are sometimes true and besides the signs of doom have started to reveal itself. Some of our wizard brothers in the northern states claim that monsters, mermaids and witches are wrecking havoc at night and they all seem to be appraising the name *Evlyn*.

Riley Jr ➡ Evlyn? I heard that name just minutes ago. But it was from a human.
.

Jamal ➡ A human? So humans are now dealing with the devil. Poor fools.
.

Riley Jr ➡ But if this is a problem, shouldn’t you at least inform others. Don’t you have a wizard council?
.

Jamal ➡ We do but our leaders aren’t united.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Leaders?
.

Jamal ➡ Yes. There are 3 supreme magic lords in this country. There’s one in the north, one in the west and one in the south. Each of them has their territory in which they govern, so nobody bothers about the other.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Wow, well I think you should talk to my Aunt Rose. She’ll be more of service than I.
.

Jamal ➡ ROSE!? The mad witch of Ibadan!? The shadow witch!? She’s your aunt?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Yes, have you met her?
.

Hadiza’s father trembled with fright for some seconds before answering my question. The look on his face was like he had heard some bad omen, it seems that even in this region, Aunt Rose’s reputation is well known.
.

Jamal ➡ I haven’t met her but I hope that I do not. Your aunt’s reputation is known by all the supernatural beings in this country and beyond. Her name alone sends fears into the hearts of the toughest witches and wizard. I once heard that Satan wanted her to be his queen.
.

Riley Jr ➡ I don’t know about that but I can assure you that my aunt is not who she used to be. She’s married to a human.
.

Jamal ➡ I know. That poor human fool doesn’t know what he’s gotten himself into.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Careful sir. He’s my uncle.
.

Jamal ➡ Sorry.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Anyways, why is my power valuable.
.

Jamal ➡ Anti magic is a rare magic. The last wizard to have this kind of magic died 2 thousand years ago. There are other forms of canceling magic but Anti magic is the real deal. With your power, you can render each of the magic lords powerless. Your magic power makes you a threat and a target.

As the old wizard was busy telling me more about the depths of Anti magic, Hadiza appeared with a wooden tray which held 2 bowls of fura da nono. Despite how appetizing the drink was, Hadiza’s new look drew my attention even more.
She wore a half vest fulani attire which exposed her lovely slim w–st, her fair skin and hair was laced with oil perfume which made her smell so good. Letting her hair backwards, Hadiza’s lovely neck came out in full view not to mention her full br××sts which jiggled with each movement she made. Another thing that made Hadiza look so beautiful and irresistible was the paintings on her hands and legs making her like a newly Hausa bride. After serving the drinks for us both, She walked away again leaving me alone in the presence of her father.

Jamal ➡ Riley!

Riley Jr ➡ Sir.
.

Jamal ➡ Your attention seems to be elsewhere.
.

Riley Jr ➡ I’m sorry sir. It’s just that your daughter looks so nice.
.

Jamal ➡ I agree. Let’s drink.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Mm mm, this is delicious.
.

Jamal ➡ Hadiza made this. She’s excelled in making this.

Riley Jr ➡ You’re lucky to have daughter like her sir.

Jamal ➡ I’m glad you think that but I wish I had a son.

Riley Jr ➡ Well, we can’t always get what we want.

Jamal ➡ I like you. For a young boy, your intellect is that of an adult.

Riley Jr ➡ Thank you sir. Is it always quiet around here?

Jamal ➡ Before it was but just last year we were terrorized by a black wizard. Every month he would come and make life hærd on us, enforcing his will upon us.

Riley Jr ➡ Didn’t you stop him?
.

Jamal ➡ Boy, our community are wanderers, explorers and scholars not fighters. Helping others in need is what we do, violence is something that we do not approve of but our patience was soon exhausted and we were forced to strike back.

Riley Jr ➡ What did you do?
.

Jamal ➡ Here in the north, Dark magic and Forbidden magic is common here. For generations, my ancestors have passed down a forbidden magic.
.

Riley Jr ➡ What kind of forbidden magic?
.

Jamal ➡ We called in ” Bakin mutuwa ” in English, Black death!
.

Riley Jr ➡ How does it work?
.

Jamal ➡ It’s a very terrible magic that traps one’s enemy in the realm of the dead. Escape is impossible for all magic casters except Anti magic users namely you.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Just how strong is this wizard?
.

Jamal ➡ He’s very strong. His magic allows him to manipulate matter. He uses his ability to transform our food and water into sand or stone if we refuse to do his bidding. The b-stard even has his eyes on my Hadiza and is making plans to make her his bride. I had to do something to stop him.
.

Riley Jr ➡ What you did was right .
.

Jamal ➡ (sighs) Thank you but that didn’t end our problems. As it turns out, the wizard who was on the brink of death had offered his soul to the devil to cast a curse upon this sands poisoning everything and anyone. At first we thought it was something we can handle but now it’s beyond our control.
.

Riley Jr ➡ What kind of curse is this?
.

Jamal ➡ I have no idea but however get affected by the curse starts to turn into stone. We’ve tried all the healing magic we could but nothing seems to work.
.

Riley Jr ➡ How bad is it?
.

Jamal ➡ Every bad. It’s worse than we thought. Come on, there’s something I want to show you.
.

In that moment, Hadiza’s father and I left the tent and went outside. His guards stood by his side as we walked around the settlement. Moments later, we entered another tent where I saw something terrible. Here in,side the tent were other magic casters whose body parts had transmutated into stone. The painful look on their face showed the kind of anguish they we’re going through.
Despite maintaining his cool as the leader, Hadiza’s father felt miserable considering the fact that he own people were suffering and there was nothing he could do about it. In that moment, I s₱0tted Hadiza in the tent giving aid to the victims of the curse. It was the least she could do.

Riley Jr ➡ This is terrible.
.

Jamal ➡ It’s tragic to realize that despite having vast amount of healing magic processes, there’s nothing I can do save my people.
.

Riley Jr ➡ I think there is a way.
.

Jamal ➡ What do you mean?
.

Riley Jr ➡ You said that the black wizard casted a curse magic right?
.

Jamal ➡ Yes?
.

Riley Jr ➡ It’s obvious that the magic is affecting these people. Once the curse is gone, so will the pain.
.

Jamal ➡ But this is not where the curse was casted.
.

Riley Jr ➡ I know but let me try something.

(OMNISCIENT POV)

Determined to help out in his own way, Riley Jr approaches a small wizard who’s body from the neck downwards was covered in stone and placed his hand on his chest. After taking a long deep breath, the young wizard uttered a spell unleashing his anti magic powers.

Riley Jr ➡ Anti magic art ; Negation.
.

In that brief moment, the young wizard’s body that was covered in stone was soon back to normal. Everyone in the room was surprised including Jamal whose mouth had already opened wide with shock. They were all surprised and excited that the solution to their problem was right in front of them.
.

Jamal ➡ What just happened?
.

Riley Jr ➡ it’s just like you said. Anti magic erases all kinds of magic including curse magic. So I thought about what you said and I decided to put it to the test. Step back please, I’m about to do a full sweep.
.

Unleashing his anti magic to the fullest, Riley Jr surrounds the entire tent with his magic breaking the curse on every affected person in the room. Within a matter of seconds, everyone was back to normal. Hadiza who was overwhelmed with joy rushes in and hugs Riley tightly showing her love and appreciation and as for the little rascal, he was full of smiles.

Hadiza ➡ Thank you Riley. You’ve saved my people.
.

Riley Jr ➡ You’re welcome.
.

Jamal ➡ This is extraordinary. Well done my boy. I’m glad that we found you.
.

Riley Jr ➡ So did I.
.

Jamal ➡ What remains now is the curse itself. We should go to the place where it was…
.

Riley Jr ➡ Relax sir. What I just did now was a wide sweep on the entire desert. Every magic has been casted will be broken. You should cast your dome spell cause I’m pretty sure it’s broken.
.

Jamal ➡ Follow me to my tent, there’s something I want to us to discuss. Hadiza come with us.

Jamal ➡ Riley, you’ve saved me and my people from extinction. Efforts such as yours should not go unrewarded.

Riley Jr ➡ There’s no need for reward sir.
.

Jamal ➡ Oh but I insist. During the climax of our crisis, I offered Hadiza’s hand in marriage to anyone who found a cure to our problem. You have done that successfully and it is my wish that you accept her as your bride. So what do you say?
.

Stunned with shock after hearing the nature of Jamal’s reward, Riley’s boyish mind soon scrambles with confusion making him to figure a way to answer the old wizard.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Sir, I’m too young to get married. I don’t even have a driver’s license. I’m too young to bear any responsibilities.
.

Jamal ➡ Are you refusing my daughter?
.

Riley Jr ➡ No sir, your daughter is beautiful, very beautiful but I’m too young.
.

Jamal ➡ Nonsense. In this region boys of your age are already married off. Hadiza, you like him don’t you?
.

Hadiza ➡ (blushing) Yes but he’s young.
.

Jamal ➡ So what? Give him a few years, he’ll grow taller. If you don’t want him speak now.

Hadiza ➡ I do.
.

Jamal ➡ So Riley, what’s your answer? Will you have her as your bride?

Riley Jr ➡ I will but the marriage will have to be on hold.

Jamal ➡ Fine but keep it in mind that she’s your fiance.

Riley Jr ➡ Fiance? I still live with my parents. Where am I going to keep her?.

Jamal ➡ Don’t bother yourself. Hadiza will wait here for you until you come but try to come visit her often.

Riley Jr ➡ Okay sure. Uhm, I’ll have to get going now. My parents might be looking for me now.

Jamal ➡ Hold on. Take this engagement bracelet. If you feel like my daughter isn’t good enough for you, just snap it. Hadiza too has one, if you snap it, hers will too.
.

Riley Jr ➡ What if i do it by accident?
.

Jamal ➡ There’s no such thing. The bracelet will only snap if you truly intend to break off the engagement.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Okay. Thank you sir. Good night.
.

Jamal ➡ Good night boy, I hope we meet again soon.
.

After collecting the bracelet from the old wizard, Riley takes his leave and goes outside the tent. Upon arriving outside the tent, the young wizard notices Hadiza standing right next to him.
.

Hadiza ➡ I’m sorry for what happened in there. I know it’s a lot to take in. You can snap the bracelet if you want to.
.

Riley Jr ➡ You said you liked me? Why? We just met hours ago.
.

Hadiza ➡ I know but ever since I saw you, my heart just couldn’t stop beating very fast. You’re a kid but love has no boundaries.
.

Riley Jr ➡ I like you, I really do but all of this is just too fast.
.

Hadiza ➡ I agree. Why don’t start off as friends and get to know each other better. It will strengthen our relationsh¡p more.
.

Riley Jr ➡ That’s more like it. See you around.

Hadiza ➡ Bye.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Bye. (teleports)

(BACK IN IBADAN)

After arriving at the front of his parent’s house seconds later, Riley Jr quietly sneaks into his room through the window and throws himself on his bed. Still surprised by the event of the night, the young wizard stares the bracelet with interest and then kicks his legs high in the air excitedly and then shouts ” OPOH”.
