Everything counts when it comes to saving the ones you love. It doesn’t matter how dirty or bad it is, just as long as everything is going to be okay in the end.
My mother’s death and the death of Riley’s parents was something that I could never forget. These were people that meant so much to me and my husband now they were gone because of a selfish and cruel reason. After the defeat of the diabolic 5, I was certain that peace would reign for a long time but it seems that’s not the case. A lot of good things has happened to me in the last decade and I’ll be damned if I’m going to anyone take it from me.

So a few days after I had returned from my vacation, I visited Aunt Jezebel’s house one afternoon to tell her about the future predictions I was told about. As soon as I arrived there, I met her in her own small personal library going through the pages of some ancient books which hovered around in the air above her head .

Christen ➡ Greetings Aunty.

Jezebel ➡ Christen….. What a pleasant surprise. Come in.

Christen ➡ You look busy.
.

Jezebel ➡ I’m just doing some research. You look well as always. I’m glad to see that Riley is taking care of you.

Christen ➡ He’s doing his best.

Jezebel ➡ Good. So what brings you here?

Christen ➡ Well, there is something that has been disturbing me and I really don’t know what to do.

Jezebel ➡ Have a seat and tell me all about it. Would you like anything to eat or drink?

Christen ➡ I’m fine. Thank you. (sits down)

Jezebel ➡ Okay, tell me what’s bothering you.

As briefly as I could, I told Aunt Jezebel everything that old blind witch predicted to me. She listened with rapt attention and showed no sign of emotion as I told her everything. After I was done, Aunt Jezebel quietly looked away and sighed before speaking to me.

Aunt Jezebel ➡ This is not good.
.

Christen ➡ Well, is there anything that I can do?
.

Jezebel ➡ My dear niece, Fate is a tricky thing. I really don’t know how I can help you but there is something you should know, Something terrible is coming and it already sending the world a message.

Christen ➡ Message? What message?

Jezebel ➡ Follow me.

In that moment, Aunt Jezebel and I left her library and went below her house straight into the dungeon where she conducts her experiments. As soon as we got there, I was shocked when I saw heaps of monster corpses all mutilated and shredded.

Christen ➡ By demon’s might! Are these….
.

Jezebel ➡ Yes, they’re monsters. Your brother Oliver has been bringing them to me from time to time.

Christen ➡ Why?
.

Jezebel ➡ As strange as it may sound. These aren’t real monsters. Well, they are monsters but they were mutated.

Christen ➡ Mutated?
.

Jezebel ➡ Yes Christen, these monsters you see here were once people.

Christen ➡ How did you know that?
.

Jezebel ➡ Easy, the smell of their blood and organs are the same as humans. I conducted a test and confirmed it. What’s even more disturbing is that this kind of magic is long forgotten. No witch/wizard in this era can use or create this kind of magic not even the Supreme witch but there is one that managed to do so and that’s your daughter, Ebinoluwa.

Christen ➡ What?

Jezebel ➡ Have you forgotten already? She used that magic to transmutate Riley into what he is today.

Christen ➡ So is Ebinoluwa behind this?

Jezebel ➡ No but whoever that’s behind this is either very ancient or he/she has somehow managed to have access to this ancient spells long forgotten to history.

Christen ➡ How sure are you that it’s only one person behind all this?

Jezebel ➡ It is. Each one of these monsters has an identical mark and from the looks of it, it’s a very ancient mark from a long forgotten era.

Christen ➡ So what now?

Jezebel ➡ First, I need you to help me go through all my library books and see if we can find something.

Christen ➡ But..

Jezebel ➡ No buts Christen… Tell me, do you want to save your family or not?

Eavesdropping is something that I don’t take pleasure in engaging in but sometimes one can’t just help themselves but to do so especially when the topic of discussion is something that concerns life and death.
After returning from a tough afternoon tutorial, here I was resting on my bed underneath the cool rotating fan. Considering the fact that exams was a few days away, I had to cool my brain down and take things easy before the big day. While I was resting, my throat felt dry and I soon became thirsty so at that moment, I got out of my bed and left the room heading straight to the kitchen to get some water. However, before I could get there I began to hear strange conversations going on between my foster dad and Uncle.
At first I couldn’t understand what was going but after paying close attention, I realized that my foster dad was engaging in some kind of shady and risky job. Hearing the word “Monster” made me feel very uncomfortable.
Before neither one of them could notice my presence, I slithered back to my room and waited until the conversation is over. Minutes later, my foster dad showed up into my room and announced that he was going out to handle some business.

Riley ➡ Afternoon Morenike! I didn’t know you were around.
.

Morenike ➡ Afternoon sir.
.

Riley ➡ Where’s Ebinoluwa?
.

Morenike ➡ She’s uh… at school….studying.
.

Riley ➡ I see. Well, take this necklace. I’ll be going out now cause I have some things to attend to. Tell your mom that I’ll be back late in the night.

Morenike ➡ Sure sir. Come back safely.
.

Riley ➡ I will.

Shortly after Mr. Riley had left the house, the demon in the necklace appeared before me. As crazy as it seems, I’m always amazed by the fact that I communicate with Solomon cause it’s a very rare thing to be talking to a demon. Although there were times where I wished I could see their true form but that wouldn’t be possible cause one stare at their true form is instant death.

Solomon ➡ Morenike!

Morenike ➡ Uncle Solomon.
.

Solomon ➡ You seem worried and I believe I know why.
.

Morenike ➡ What should I do?
.

Solomon ➡ What were you planning on doing?

Morenike ➡ I was hoping to tell mom when she returns.

Solomon ➡ But you’re afraid that you might anger Riley?

Morenike ➡ Yes. I don’t want him to start despising him.

Solomon ➡ Don’t worry about that. Just do what you heart wants. It will be good if Christen knows about this.

Morenike ➡ You think so?.

Solomon ➡ I know so.

Morenike ➡ God! I wish Ebinoluwa was here.

Solomon ➡ Where’s the pampered brat?

Morenike ➡ I have no idea but I think she’s with her boyfriend.

Solomon ➡ I see. So the little witch is starting to submit to her primal urges. Like mother like daughter (laughs)

Morenike ➡ No. She’s just dating the guy. It’s too early for her to… You know..

Solomon ➡ Kid, I know these witches and as soon as they fall for the opposite s-x, it’s Sodom and Gomorrah . Christen’s mother lost her v-rginity 5 days after she met that swine Eli. They mated for a week like wild beasts.

Morenike ➡ Enough talking about unnecessary issues. I need to find the courage to talk to mom.

Solomon ➡ Just relax and breathe.

It may sound awkward but despite spending years in this house, I still find it hærd to communicate with Ebinoluwa’s mother and the reason to that is because she always has this cold look in her eyes whenever Ebinoluwa’s father isn’t around. She hærdly talks me or even ask me to do anything, there are times where I concluded that she barely knows that I even exist in this house.
So hours later during nightfall, the lady of the house returned looking tired and spent. Seeing how exhausted she was, I decided to give her time to rest. Minutes later after she had taken her bath, Christen came into the living room and sat on the couch rubbing some of her magical herb lotions on her fair skin. Seeing that her face was a bit brightened up, I went over to her to tell her what I overhead this afternoon.

Morenike ➡ Good evening ma.

Christen ➡ Oh Morenike. 😒

Morenike ➡ Sorry for bothering you but there is something you should know.

Christen ➡ What is it?
.

Morenike ➡ It’s about dad. I think he’s..

Suddenly before I could finish, Christen gave me a sharp and fierce stare that nearly gave me a heart attack. Her look was so terrifying that I was this close to peeing in my bum shorts. In that moment, Christen rose up from the couch and approached me gently like a predator stalking it’s prey. I tried to move back but then my body froze instantly like a tree. It was then I knew I was in a deep shit.

Christen ➡ What happened to Riley?
.

Morenike ➡ Nothing it’s just that I overheard him talking to your brother about a job of hunting monsters. He told me to tell you that he’d be back late in the night. I was worried so I decided to tell you.
.

Despite my statement, Christen glared at me murderously for a while before backing off which was thanks to Solomon’s appearance.

Solomon ➡ Christen, let the girl go.
.

Christen ➡ Tell me Solomon! Did you know about this?
.

Solomon ➡ Yes.
.

Christen ➡ And you didn’t tell me?
.

Solomon ➡ Well, now you know.

Christen ➡ No wonder he always gets back home tired and to think that he swayed me into promising not to read his mind. ARRRGGGHHH!!

Solomon ➡ Calm down before you do something drastic. This girl is scared to death, you need to apologize.

Christen ➡ (sighs) Sorry Morenike, I didn’t mean to scare you.

Morenike ➡ It’s okay ma.
.

Solomon ➡ What are you going to do now?
.

Christen ➡ Morenike, you’re in charge of the house. Solomon look after her . I’ll go find that lying husband of mine and give him a piece of my mind.

Location :- Forest regions of Oyo.

Hours had passed since I left home to carry out this mission, the time was 9:30pm and the sky was awfully dark. After scouting around and placing traps for the monsters, I waited patiently for them to show up.
As I sat waiting for the monsters to come, I began to think about Christen and the kids, nothing mattered more to me than to return to them safely. There were times where I regretted taking this job but after considering the reason I took it in the first place, I canceled all thoughts of regret.

Suddenly as I was deep in thought, I began to hear rumbling and growling sounds. I knew that my targets had arrived but what surprised me was their large number. They were 3 times the size of the ones I had eliminated. Just as I was about to attack, I saw something rather strange or rather terrifying. Standing in front of the monsters was a deformed looking corpse of a man ordering them around and despite how he looked, it was obvious that he was still aware and conscious of what he was doing.
In that moment, one of monsters stepped on my trap causing the horde of monsters to be divided and torn apart. The trap which consisted of magical grenades and all kinds of minor bombs sure worked out as I expected. The fireworks did more damage than they were supposed to. After the explosion, I began to pick off the monsters one by one. Everything went perfectly well at first but then I was confronted by the leader of the monster horde.
Of all the monsters I’ve fought so far, this one was the strongest. He fought hærd and brutally like a wild animal on a rampage. Thanks to my training and the magical gloves, I was able to dismantle and incapacitate the b-stard. After getting beat and worn out, the monster leader succumbed to his injuries and began to beg for his live.

Deformed Akin ➡ (speaking yoruba) Jọwọ, da ẹmi mi si…….. (Please spare my life)

Riley ➡ So you speak Yoruba?
.

Deformed Akin ➡ Yes.. In fact, I’m Yoruba by tribe.

Riley ➡ Not anymore. You’re monster.
.

Deformed Akin ➡ Why are you doing this? Aren’t you a wizard? I serve the great Sorceress.

Riley ➡ And I serve no one but God. Who’s this sorceress you speak of? Did she send you?

Deformed Akin ➡ She’s the most powerful being in this world. Her power is unparalleled and with your skill, I’m just that she’ll reward you greatly.

Riley ➡ And what did she promise you?

Deformed Akin ➡ Escape from death. As long as she lives, I’ll be forever immortal.

Riley ➡ Not anymore. You chose this abomination just to escape death? You’re a stupid fool. Death is inevitable and it’s through my hand, you’ll die.
.

In that very moment as I was about to cut the monstrous fool, I felt a very dark and powerful presence behind me. The feeling was just exactly like the first time I met Rose. As i turned around quickly, I saw a bewitching mermaid walking and swaying her h¡ps s-ductively. Her appearance despite hot was deadly, she was giving off an awful vibe that made me sweat and my body shaking. Whoever this mermaid is, she’s definitely bad news.

Riley ➡ WHO ARE YOU!?

Xeira ➡ So you’re the monster hunter? Fascinating. The dark witch sends her regards.
.

In that split moment, something whizzed so fast and hit me hærd in my midsection that I was forced to vomit blood. The impact sent me flying through the air like a stone fired from a catapult. After I had crash landed on a nearby tree, I had to sit still for some seconds to regain my strength. While I was resting, the mermaid showed up to where I saw only this time she came with a few surprises. Behind the mermaid was a large ring of floating water enough to fill to 4 big water tanks. Immediately I saw this, I knew I was facing someone beyond my league.

Xeira ➡ Oh, you’re still alive. I’m impressed cause I kill most of my victims instantly with this attack. I hope you’re still strong cause I’m going to enjoy tearing you apart.
.

Riley ➡ God guide me through the valley of death and grant me strength to punish those who worsh¡p evil’s might. Come you b-tch and feel the might of the lord as I strike you down. Amen.

Xeira ➡ (laughs) HA, HA, HA, HA. TIME TO DIE.
