“She’s not supposed to give birth now, the doctor said … “. Chloe trailed off.

“Hey!”. I faced her squarely. “Everything will be fine”.

“Hand me your phone”.

I gave it to her and watched as she dialed Liam’s number again. It went through and she began talking to him.

I watched her silently. Why does she want to talk to Liam again? I told her what she needed to hear, right?

“Don’t worry, Liam. You didn’t interrupt any thing important when you called earlier”.

I arched my eyebrows at that. What the hell is she saying? We were in the middle of a hot make out session.

“No .. No, you were right to call. How long ago did you say her water broke?”.

I sighed. This is really more serious that I had anticipated. Brianna giving birth at 8 months … Isn’t that premature birth?

“Where is the hospital?”. Chloe asked him over the phone pacing around.

I get her. She’s worried for her best friend, she and Brianna are like close twin sisters.

“I’ll be there within 30 minutes”. She gave me the phone. “Brianna is in labor”.

“So I heard “. I replied. “He told me about it earlier, said they were on the way”.

“But now they are in the hospital”. She added.

I k×ssed her cheeks. “Brianna will be fine”.

She nodded and wrapped her hands round me as we hugged. Soon, we pulled away and I held her fingers pressing a k×ss into her palm.

“What time are we leaving?”. I asked her.

“We?”. Chloe arched her eyebrows. “I can drive myself to the hospital. You don’t have to go with me”.

“I need to go with you. Its Liam’s baby as well, remember?”.

“Oh, all right, Lucas Knights. You can tag along, now I’d better go change”.

“Why? I say you look great”. I teased her.

“Really? You don’t expect me to go meet my best friend and her baby in just a shirt”.

“But my shirt looks good on you”. I say moving closer towards her.

She stepped backwards. “I’m changing”.

I chuckled as she walked over to the stairs going up. I went back to the kitchen to tidy things up so we can get to the hospital in time.

We walk into the hospital grounds and then to Brianna’s ward immediately where she was still in labor.

Chloe left my side going to the ward as she stared at everything from the glass window by the ward.

I walked towards Liam. “Dude”.

“I don’t know how much longer this is going to take”. He replied pacing around.

“Williams. She’ll be fine”.

“I don’t know, Lucas”. He continued pacing to and fro. “She has been in there for 1 and half hours straight, yet no baby”.

I sat on one of the waiting chairs. “Its her first baby, what do you expect?”.

“Damn it!”. He rammed his fingers through his hair. “I just …, God! I feel so worried for her”.

“I’m sure she’ll pull through this”. I tried to assure him.

“And damn it! She isn’t even nine months pregnant complete”.

“Williams. She’ll be fine, she’s pushing the baby out. You can hear it, right?”.

“Why can’t the baby just slide out of her already?”.

“Babies take as long as they take”. I say as I reclined on the chair lacing my fingers at the back of my head.

“Thats easy for you to say”. He snapped at me immediately. “Its not your wife in there giving birth to your child”.

I sighed. “Liam, just chill out”.

“Chill out?”. He scoffed. “Lets see how calm if Chloe gets pregnant and then try to deliver”.

I maintained a straight face as I tried to think about that fact. Jeez!! I’ll be worse than Liam.

I took a deep breath and walked to the glass window where Chloe was. I held her palm squeezing it softly and she smiled at me.

I knew Brianna was probably s¢ræming her lungs as those doctors worked beneath her legs.

Hm. I hope she delivers safely.

I went to Liam again. “Dude. You seriously need to calm down, Brianna will be okay”.

“I had no idea it would be like this”. He muttered ramming all of his ten fingers through his hair.

“That it’d take this long?”.

Liam shook his head. “No, that I’d feel this scared, this nervous. I don’t remember if I felt this way when Lilian was born but I feel scared for Brianna”.

“She’ll go through this”.

“I must have read books about birthing and I thought I was ready but Hell, man. All I want is for Brianna to be okay”.

“She’ll be fine”. I reassured him for like the umpteenth time.

I stared at Liam. He was pacing, worrying, wondering and probably praying right now.

“I’m going back there”. Liam announced like he couldn’t bear to be away from her.

I slapped his back to encourage him as he went to the glass watching Brianna cry her way to giving birth.

“I just feel guilty for all this”. He spoke up coming back to me.

“Huh? What are you talking about?”.

“She saw Trisha and I k×ssing”. He blurted out.

“What the heck? Williams, whats wrong with you? Why the hell would you do that?”.

“I was trying to get her to sign those papers, Trisha said she’ll sign the divorce papers if I give her a k×ss”.

“And you f×¢king believed her?”.

“I just .. “. He shook his head. “Brianna saw us and she went into labor immediately”.

“But seriously? You know Trisha can never be trusted, why the hell will you fall for what she said?”.

“I was just desperate to get her out of my life”.

“Push h-rder, ma’am”.

I grunted tired of hearing that shit from the doctor for the last one and half hours I’ve been here.

The door opens and I stressfully look to see Chloe pushing her way in. She comes towards me warding off other nurses.

She bent by my side. “How you holding up?”.

“Oh God!”. I whimpered. “It hurts, Chloe. It hurts so much”.

“Miss”. The doctor spoke up. “More effort”.

“Argh!! Oh God!”. Tears stream down my cheeks. “Shit!”.

“Okay, Brianna”. The doctor continued. “I need you to keep your legs apart, I think I see the baby’s head”.

I nod tearfully as I gr0×ned using my might to push what was in me out.

Chloe massages my arm. “You doing good, Brie”.

“Keep your legs open wide”. The doctor adds. “Don’t shut them close, the baby is on the way”.

I gr0×ned loudly as the pains increased the more around my pelvic area. The doctors did whatever they were doing beneath my open legs while I grunted out in pain.

“Ugh!!”.

“Come on, Brie, continue pushing”. Chloe coaxed me. “In a moment your first child will out of your womb, you are doing great”.

My fists curled around the sheets of the bed on which I was while I grunted trying to push the baby out with all my strength.

More tears slide down my cheeks as I felt something coming out between my legs.

“The baby’s been crowned”. The doctor announced. “I can see its head”.

“You hear that, Brie? Your first child”.

I shit my eyes imagining how my child will be like and then I got the strength to push the more.

Almost immediately, I felt something slide completely out of me and the niggling pain reduced just a little.

A high pitched crying pierced my ears and I open my eyes to see the doctor holding a blood covered baby. My eyes glistened with tears as I stared at the newborn infant in her hand. My child.

Chloe took the baby and tears rushed down my cheeks uncontrollably as I stared at the tiny creature in her hand but pains were still in my pelvic area.

My baby.

“Its a boy, Brie”. She whispered cradling the crying child.

I was very weak to hold the baby but she brought him very close and I stared at him still finding it hærd to believe that I just gave birth.

“You are a new mother, Brie”. Chloe added trying to stop the baby from crying.

I bursted into tears remembering the pain I went through just for him to come out. He’s looks so cute.

I gasped as the niggling pain came back and the female doctor crouched in front of my bent draped knees again.

And immediately, another slide out of me and a sharp loud cry followed getting me surprised.

“Uh, ma’am?”. She looks up at me. “You are actually carrying twins”.

Chloe’s face breaks into a smile. “Brie, you are going to be a mother of two”.

I close my eyes feeling weak not wanting to dwell on what she said. I just gave birth to twins. My Jayden and Jana.

Chloe touches my arm. “Brie?”.

“I don’t feel so good”. I mutter drifting into unconsciousness.

I watched as Chloe rushed into the ward room pushing those nurses out of the way, I glanced at Lucas expecting him to go calm her down.

But he had folded his arms and shut his eyes, probably asleep. Maybe I should rest for a few minutes too.

I closed my eyes and then immediately, an infant’s cry shattered the silence making me jerk awake and jump to my feet.

“Shit!!”. Lucas straightened and rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands.

I beamed brightly. “She finally gave birth”.

“Dude, your kid got one hell of a pair of lungs though”.

I laugh pushing him aside as I walked into Brianna’s ward to see Chloe holding a baby and the female doctor holding another baby.

Wait. What? Two babies.

“Congratulations. Mr. Paige”. She smiled walking towards me. “She delivered twins”.

She made to give me the baby but Lucas held the baby instead while I went towards Anna whose eyes were closed.

“Brianna”. I whispered stroking her cheeks.

“She’s resting”. Chloe replied.

“Woah, dude”. Lucas spoke up. “You got a daughter and a son, this is dope”.

I smiled hearing that and Chloe handed the blood covered baby to me. I glanced at him beaming as I took him in my arms.

“Look, they both have blue eyes just like Brianna”. He continued. “Even the girl look so pretty”.

Yeah, Lucas was right. They both had the oceanic blue eyes just like Brianna but had the color of my hair too and the nose also.

“So. What are you going to name them?”. Chloe asked staring at the baby in my arms.

“Jayden Paige”. I gazed at the baby with awe. “And the girl, Jana Paige”.

“I know you didn’t come up with the names yourself”.

I chuckled lightly. “Shut up, Lucas”.

“Her fingers are so small, I can hærdly hold it”.

Chloe looked at him amusedly. “Really?”.

“Thats how it is”. I told her. “He also acted that way when Lilian was born”.

“Hey! I just happen to like babies, thats all, is that a crime? They look so innocent and cute that I just want to hug them”.

“Okay, thats just plain weird”. Chloe says and we all laughed.

“Hey, Fella”. I whispered. “Meet your Aunt Chloe, she’s crazy at times”.

She frowned. “I’ll let that one slide because of the baby but next time, know that you’ll miss a bone”.

“Like I said, she’s crazy”. I whispered again to the sleeping baby in my arms.

“Hey. Don’t forget me”. Lucas said stepping over to gaze down at the baby.

I took Jayden to Lucas. “This is your dumb Uncle Lucas”.

“Haha. Very funny”.

I chuckled lightly. “You did say I should introduce you though”.

“Sir Paige”.

I turned around to meet the doctor. “Yes?”.

“Miss Brianna needs some rest”. She said gesturing towards her. “I think birthing took a toll on her”.

“Oh”. I stepped backwards. “But she’ll be okay, right?”.

“Of course”.

“When do I get to take her home?”. I asked her.

“Probably in three days”.

“What about the two babies?”. Chloe spoke up. “When do we get to take them home?”.

“That will be around the same time the mother is discharged”.

“You hear that, Jana?”. Lucas whispered to her. “You’ll come with us in three days?”.

“I think you mean, she’ll come with me. She is my daughter, if you remember?”. I turned towards the doctor. “Anything else?”.

“Yes but … “. She glanced at the baby in Lucas’s arms. “Jana will have to stay here longer because she’s fragile”.

I arched my eyebrows. “How long?”.

“Probably a week. She needs to be here in the hospital so she can be well taken care of”.

I nodded and the nurses moved forward to take the babies. Jayden was taken from me and Jana as well, and then they walked out with the doctor.

“Do you we need to trust them?”. Chloe stood up straight.

“Yes”. I replied her. “Doctor Jane was the one who helped when Lili was born”.

“So we can be sure that nothing is going to happen to Brie or her babies?”.

“What are you worried about?”. Lucas faced her.

“A lot of things. I’m worried that maybe either Trisha or Lauren will try to harm the babies”.

I crouched besides Brianna. “They can’t. I’ll assign bodyguards to guard them during this week”.

“I’m just worried for my best friend”.

“Everything will be okay”. Lucas encircled his arms around Chloe as they hugged.

I face Brianna who was deep in her sleep, I smile reaching up to cup her cheeks as I placed a light k×ss on it.

We finally have a proof of our love, Brianna, we have babies to support the love we got for each other.

And I promise you, I won’t let anyone hurt you or them ever again.

“Someone has to inform Lili”.

“Yeah”. Lucas laughed lowly. “She is going to be so psyched to know she has younger siblings”.

“Just like she wanted”. I added.

“And Trisha?”. Chloe looked at me. “What about her? She’s a pest in Brie’s life and you know that so well”.

“She’s right, dude”. Lucas supported. “Um, I think Trisha might try to hurt Brianna”.

“I’ll take care of Trisha”. I said coldly. “She won’t go near Brianna or any of my children ever again, not even Lilian”.

“Dad”. I yelled at him. “How could you?”.

He didn’t say a word, just merely glanced at his files on the table ignoring me.

“Dad! I’m talking to you”.

“What?”. He snapped at me. “Can’t you see that I’m busy, Lauren? Huh?”.

“Why the hell did you go see Brianna earlier today?”. I asked him annoyed.

“She’s my daughter”.

“She’s a bastard!”.

“Stop it, Lauren”. He pointed a finger at me. “Don’t you say that word”.

“Thats the f×¢king truth, Dad. Brianna is not your legitimate child, a stripper gave birth to her, remember?”.

“Lauren!!”. He barked at me standing up immediately. “You’ll not talk about her that way, do you understand?”.

“Dad. What the heck? Huh? Why are you defending Brianna all of a sudden?”. I ask surprised.

“She’s my daughter, Lauren”.

“But you never accepted her so why the sudden change?”.

“I regret everything hurtful things I’ve ever said or done to her”. He said lowly sitting back on the seat.

“Why?”.

“She’s carrying my grandchild, that made me realize that I tortured her emotionally all for nothing. She’s my daughter, it pains me so much that I only remember that now”.

“And so what if she’s pregnant with your grandchild!”.

“You are going to be an Aunt, Lauren. You need to stop all this hatred because she is your sister and you can’t change that”.

I grunted loudly. “Sister! She took Liam away from me. She s-duced me!”.

“I’m busy to attend to your tantrums and you know that”.

I frowned and stormed out of his study room angrily as I walked onto the hallway pushing any workers in my way.

“Mom!!”. I yelled loudly.

“Lauren, sweetie”. She stepped out of the kitchen. “Is something wrong?”.

“Yes, everything is wrong!”. I yell. “Can you believe what your husband said? Huh?”.

“Lauren … “.

“He made up with Brianna. That bitch who stole Liam away from me with her stupid pregnancy”.

“What are you talking about?”.

“Dad went over to see Brianna accepting his grandchild from her and I can tell from the look of things that he might add her to his will and not me”. I said angrily.

Her face turned pale. “Thats not possible”.

“It is. Brianna always takes everything away from me and now she managed to get Dad on her side because of her baby”.

“She’ll never get any of your father’s riches if thats what she’s thinking”. Mom muttered assuring mw.

“Aargh!!”. I shouted kicking things. “I’m so f×¢king annoyed right now”.

I used my hands to shatter some vases on the floor and finally walked out of the main entrance of the house feeling satisfied.

I stopped seeing Emilia’s car drive in and I walk towards her immediately. She pulled over and then stepped out.

“Oh Gosh! You don’t know how happy I am to see you”. I said feeling exasperated.

“Hey”.

“Please tell me something good”.

“Brianna was rushed to the hospital, I think she was in labor. Probably was about to deliver her baby”.

“Dammit”. I rammed my hair with my ten fingers.

“If she has a child for Liam then I don’t think you got any chance, Lauren”.

“I know that”. I snapped at her.

“So what are you gonna do? Will you give up?”.

“No. I’ll make her life miserable and I don’t care about her f×¢king baby”.

“But how are we going to do that? She has Liam”.

“Nicholas”. I smirked immediately. “He’s the perfect person to help me right now”.
