I gasp.

“Your brother?” I ask baffled.

“Yeah… My f-cking brother” he says.

“How” I ask.. That’s a stupid question.

He laughs softly. ” How?……. My mother gave birth to him with my dad” he say.

“Why do you guys hate each other?” I ask.

“We don’t.. ” he says. “…. Just a little misunderstanding”

“How did you come back? ” I ask.

“I don’t know, I sure know I was dead… Like dead. Later I woke up one day in an hospital and I was surprised. And I became more surprised when I saw my face isn’t the same as it was. Doctors said they don’t have any information about me. But I only know who I am. So I had to change my name and everything about me” he says.

“What was your name, what is Leo’s name” I ask. He takes a sip from his coffee

“Mmm-mmm….. There’s no way I’m telling you that. You don’t expect me to snitch myself out to you or snitch on my brother. You can find out that yourself.” he says and I keep quiet.

“Do you know what he’s out for? Why is he causing havoc? ” I ask.

“He’s out for revenge.. ”

“Revenge on what?” I ask .

“I’m not telling you that either.” he say

“I thought you said you were gonna tell me everything” I half yell getting pissed with his attitude.

“I really can’t tell you everything, maybe one day, he’s gonna tell you that too. ” he says and I scoff.

“How…” I ask

“He’ll always come to you… E get why. ” he say and gulp down the entire content in his cup.

“What’s your mission?” I ask

“I’m tryna stop him” he says. Like seriously? Is he kidding?

“Are you kidding?….. You wanna stop him and you’re covering secrets about him?” I say rather than a question.

“Do yours and ama do mine too” he say.

“Why are you in our agency? Are you really gon’be the fall?” I ask.

He chuckles. “Leo told you that so you can hate me. And look, I didn’t tell you all this so you wouldn’t expose me. I only said it so as to help you. And today will be last time you’d see me in that agency.” he say as he gulps down my coffee too.

“Good day..” he says as he stands and leaves. I stare at his back till he’s gone. I’m still not understanding all this shii.

I need to see mum.

MUM’S APARTMENT

I drive in,side the compound and park my car.

“Madam… ” the aboki gateman greets me but I ignore. Ion have his time right now.

I walk in and met mum in the sitting room.

“Hi mum” I greet.

“Erica, Howie u doing” she replies.

“Mum, I’m not fyn” I say. “….ain’t understanding any shii about this job placed on my hand” I say.

“Did the cobra meet you yet?” she asks

“Yeah.. ” I reply.

“I told ya.. What happened with him.” she asks.

“Something strange mun. My core clenched, I felt goosebumps and there’s only one person who makes me feel that way. You know him right? ” I say.

“Wait…. Like seriously? Can he be?” mum says rather than a question.

“Been wondering the same too mum…. Funny thing is Ramsey’s his brother and he’s a living dead.” I say.

“I’ve felt that a long time ago” mum says and I sigh.
“Did he tell you anything else?” mum asks and I shake my head signaling no.

“Do you think you’re loving this man?” mum asks.

“I don’t know mum but… This days I feel I don’t wanna fight him anymore, I just wanna know why he’s doing this thing and know how I can help” I say.

“That’s the feeling” mum says. “Girl…. He’s gonna come back again and there’s only one way right now.” mum says.

“What way?” I ask.

“Fall in love with him”….

I walk into my apartment tired and hungry. I’m too lazy to prepare anything to eat right now, I’m just gonna take my bath and sleep off.

I strip my self unclad and walk into the bathroom to shower. I open the faucet and let the cold water run over me.

About what mum said, how I’m I gonna fall in love with cobra. I’m not even sure if I’m not falling yet. I still remember how I felt that day when he came into my car, how my core clenched, how I got goosebumps without him touching me. I still remember his good pink l-ips, and his brown eyes. I’m sure he’s light skinned. I’m so confused about all this shit, the more I get near to the answer, the more complicated and confusing everything becomes.

I stop the water form running and walk out of the bathroom unclad. Everything on my mind is to hop on my bed and sleep unclad like I used to. But something made me stop as I sight a figure with a white mask on my bed operating on his phone.

“What the f-ck!!! ” I scre-m and cover my V with my two hands. Cobra on my bed?

“Oops, my bad… Your b-obs are opened” he says and throw my towel at me as I quickly wrap it around me.

“What the f-ck are you doing here?” I yell at him as I try to get my gun from my bag.

” Wrong move, you should know you can’t use guns here” he says waving my gun in the air.

“F-ck….. What do you want?” I glare at him.

“Wanna go on a date? ” he says and wink from under his mask. F-ck, that brown eyes.

“I said what do you want?” I yell trying to act like I’m not under his influence.

“I just said what I want, I want us to go on a date” he says and s-cks on his bottom lip. This dude’s sed-cing me, wish I could see the face under his mask.

“You’re insane. You don’t walk into people’s house and do as you like. The last time I checked, the only peeps that goes on a date are friends or lovers. And you ain’t anything closed to that. You ain’t my friend or lover so why do we need to go on a date?” I yell at him.

“We’re going on a date because you wanna know alot of things about what you’re doing, and I wanna let you know alotta things on what you’re doing.” he say.

“You know I can get you arrested right?” I say and he chuckles.

“Feel free to do so dear…… I’ll be outside if you wanna go” with that, he vanish. I hate this vanish thing.

Now I’m stuck, should I go or not. What if he’s tryna hurt me? Or… Mum said I need to fall inlove. This is where it all starts.

I rush to my closet and scan through my clothes. I settle for a pink hoodie and a blue jean with a rip in the knee and a pair of white sneakers. I put them on and walk outside.

I’m giving this a chance even if it’s just for the job. I see him beside a car. I gawk when I see him with a Ferrari. Woah… He smiles at me and open the car door for me to enter.

He pull the car over at a restaurant and we go in and take a seat. The waitress approach and take our orders and left.

“Do you like the place?” he asks me and I nod. The waitress brings the order.

“Thank you” Leo mutters and the waitress leaves.

“Down to business… ” Leo says with chicken in his mouth. “Ask what you wanna know. I’ll like to ask you questions too.” he says.

“Take off your mask.” I say and he looks up at me and chuckle. He drops his fork and laugh really hærd. Thank God we’re the only one at this corner or I’d be feeling embarrassed by now.

“What’s funny?” I scowl.

“That isn’t a question ma’am….” he says and sips his drink.

“Alright, can you take off your mask?” I ask.

“No.. ” he states.

“Why?” I ask.

“Because you’re gonna see my face and I’m not ready for that yet. ” he say.

“But you can just change your face with your powers and I wouldn’t know you. I just wanna look at a face not a white mask” I tell him.

“Unfortunately, I can’t… That’s the only power I don’t have. I can’t change my face. That’s why I’m using a mask.” he tells me.

“Woah…. So why are you doing all this? Why causing havoc.” I ask

“I’m out for revenge.” he says with a glint of pain. This is getting interesting .

“Hmmmm…. Revenge for?” I ask and he drops his spoon.

“Seven years ago, When I was still sixteen years. An end SARS protest broke out. Somehow it led into something the government don’t like and one day they sent soldiers to kill innocent youths. My brother was there that day. I was at home with my lil sister and parents. When the shooting started. We were in panic cos our house was near the shooting. Stray bullets came in and killed my dad, mum and Lil sis. I felt pain and anger. My brother Ramsey, never returned home cos I never found his body. Only to find out later that he’s a living dead. Then I vowed I’m gonna kill all those who had hands in that shooting. And since I don’t know them, I’m after destroying every barrack in the city. And I rob banks too so as to feed the innocent poor people in town with the money the rich peeps are putting there. And I have limited time, I’m still gonna kill those f-cking politicians too. ” he explains and I sigh.

“What caused the beef between you and your brother?” I ask.

“Douche bag tried to stop me for some foolish reasons and I don’t give a f-ck.”

“What’s your name?” I ask.

“James Leo… the cobra”.he say.

“Nah…. your real name” I say.

“I don’t have, and even if I have, I can’t tell you cos you don’t expect me to snitch myself to you.” he says and I remain silent.

He place his elbows on the table. “Any other questions?”

“What’s the source of your power.” I ask. I know he’s not gonna answer this.

“I’m not ready to say this either.” he says. I know right?

“Don’t you think you can do this another way? Without causing havoc.” I tell him rather than a question.

“Don’t let’s go there at all. It’s nah gonna work.” he says.
“If you’ve felt that kinda pain of loosing everyone in one day? You won’t say what you just said. Cos you’d be willing to go any length to revenge.” he says and I keep mute.

” Can I ask you mine?” he says.

“No problem,”

“Who do you love, like who’s your boyfriend” he asks and I chuckle.

“No one, funny thing is I’ve never dated anyone.” I say. Why I’m I even telling him.

“Woah… ” he mutters and laugh softly. ” That’s weird… You don’t have anyone you’ve been falling for? That gives you juices when you think of him?” he says. I don’t wanna answer this question but I found myself talking.

“I do,, there’s this dude I’ve loved since secondary school. He never noticed me. And I was this shy girl then, I couldn’t show him how I feel. He’s fair tall and handsome with brown eyes. He later left and I saw him no more. Until…. Never mind” I say.

“I answered your questions, don’t ignore mine. Until when?”he says.

“I later saw him on television as the popular Pastor Jacob Leonard that you know.” I say shyly..

“I bet he knows you and he’ll come for you one day.”

“I pray, I said he never noticed me.” I say.

“Trust me, he did. But wait. How come you could arrest his assistant pastor the other day without you feeling anything.” he say.

“I had to hid my feelings. I still felt my juices that day though.” I reply. I’m telling this guy too much.

“I think we should start going.” he says and I nod and stand up.

“Erica… ” he calls and hold my hand. Damn.. My name sounds sweeter in his mouth and his palm’s so soft and soothing.

“All what I told you today is for you to know how you’re gonna handle this matter so you won’t get hurt. As you can see, I’m not fighting blindly.” he say and I nod.

He opens the car door for me as I enter and he enters too and drive off.

I sit in my sitting room drinking Hennessy directly from the bottle and operating on my phone as Monster by Shawn Mendez ft Justin Bieber plays from my speaker.

A message comes in to my phone. An unknown number.

MEET ME AT DOMINO’S RESTAURANT IN 30

“Who’s this?” I mutter. I dialed the number and it’s not going through.

“All die na die” I mutter to myself as I stand up to go dress up.

AT THR RESTAURANT

I sit down waiting for the owner of that message to come in. And then I sight him, coming into the restaurant with his white mask on his face. What is he doing here? I wonder. And then I see him coming over to my side.

“Hello brother… ” he mutters and sit opposite me.
