‘Hey man’..Cooper muttered tapping the back of my head as I walked down the school hallway.I noticed few female eyes winking at me but choose to ignore them since I was in a bad mood…
‘Hey Cooper’..i murmured in reply as I opened my locker..
‘Sheesh seems like you woke up at the wrong side of the bed this morning?? What’s wrong??’..He asked..
‘I’m just bummed actually though,my grades are slipping and mom is on my neck well forget about me anyway did you receive your ratio yesterday??’..I replied rhetorically and he snickered…
‘Yeah I got it,67% actually’..he responded and I smirked.He’s getting 67 and I’m getting 38 and we’re both friends.This isn’t s good development for me…
‘Lucky you,can you even imagine my mom asking political money to tutor me in Math??’..I said..
‘Really?? No shit!!’..He exclaimed and I shrugged my shoulders closing my locker.We both walked into class which was rowdy of course,Payton’s head was on her desk and from the looks of it she seemed to be sleeping..
‘Look guys,Political money is drooling!!!’..Cooper teased and everyone laughed with me included..
‘Settle down everyone!!’..Mr Rudolf yelled as he walked into the class and we all did as he instructed..
I glanced over at Payton who was awake already but was still drowsy from the woozy look in her eyes…
‘So today we’re going to be implementing a new study pattern for the rest of the term’..Mr Rudolf added and i frowned.He’s always implementing new patterns every year especially for class 12 just because there are a lot of dullards and dunces…
‘Uh-Oh here we go again’..Stacy muttered and the wh0le class roared into laughter except Payton.Mr Rudolf cleared his throat and we all kept quiet to avoid incuring his wrath..
‘Well for the rest of the year we’re going to be implementing a new pattern called the STUDY BUDDY,students with a percentage of 60 and below would be paired with students with a percentage of 80 and above…We’ve drawn an algorithm and those who know about they’re poor performance would receive a letter in their locker,thank you guys!!’..He said and walked away…
The wh0le class began murmuring and i bowed my head in frustration.Study buddy??! Why do i feel like this pattern was inspired by me??…
‘Jeez dude I’m just lucky i don’t have a study buddy’..Cooper murmured from behind me and I grunted in reply…

Payton’s POV
The school bell rung which signaled the fifth period to be over.I grabbed my books and went outside,opened my locker and then found a letter.I dropped my books and opened the letter which read thus;

You are hereby selected to be a tutor in the STUDY BUDDY program.
Your STUDY BUDDY is BRODY ANDERSON!!..
You are both expected to head to the Principal’s office for your debrief..

Of all the people in this school why would my study buddy be Brody Anderson??.He obviously doesn’t want me to tutor him and now the school wants me to tutor him??..

‘Do you have a study buddy??’..Copper asked me as i walked over to my locker..
‘Yeah I think so judging from my ratio’..I replied opening the locker and that’s when I found the letter.I knew it!!!..
‘Uh-oh there’s the letter..well..go ahead and check who your study Buddy is!’..he beckoned.I quickly opened the letter and when I read that contents I balled the paper and threw it in the bin…
‘My Study buddy is that puny Payton!!! Gosh i can’t believe this!!’..

‘So the study program has drafted out a study time table for the both of you’..Principal Terian muttered under his breath as he passed a laminated sheet to me.I stared down at it and frowned deeply when I realised what content it carried..
‘For real P.T?? Study time by 12pm and 8am?? even on Saturdays??’..i protested and he frowned…
‘First of all it’s Principal Terian to you and not P.T,secondly your mother wanted you to have extra study hours and judging from your grades you really need it and —Oh Payton sit down’..he said and beckoned Payton who came into the office to sit down.I shot her a dirty look and she nervously evaded my gaze…
‘Good afternoon Principal Terian Brody’..She muttered and I sneered at her…
‘Good afternoon Payton,you got my letter i guess??’..Principal asked and she nodded.I sighed deeply waiting for him to say something else but he didn’t instead he just kept smiling…
‘I’ve said my part you two,you both can resolve the rest yourself please leave my office now’.He said.I hesitated for a while on the chair but when I met his frown I left his office immediately with Payton…
Ughh i knew it..
I knew mom would make sure I’m paired with Payton after my outburst last night…

‘Shut the hell up and listen!!! We’re going to act like we’re study partners but we aren’t okay?? I’m gonna play video games and you’re gonna keep doing your nerdy stuff!!’..i scre-med and walked away…
There’s no way I’m going to let that poverty ridden animal tutor me,No f-cking way!!!…
Payton’s POV
I sighed deeply as Brody walked away from me.He just doesn’t get the fact that I’m trying to help him,I don’t know why he doesn’t get it.After a minute I walked into Chemistry class…
‘Okay everybody put on your safely googles’..Mrs Humphrey beckoned as I walked towards my own work station.I watched in awe as everyone put on their lab coats and safety googles,some of which were even customized with their initials on the rims.Well I’ve asked mom to get me my own pair of googles and lab coat like my peers but she complained of not having enough to buy so I said no more..
‘Payton why aren’t you on your lab coat??’..Mrs Humphrey asked..
‘I..I..I don’t have one’..I stuttered in reply and everyone laughed..
‘I’m sorry but you can’t stay in my class without a coat and safety googles so can you please leave??’..Mrs Humphrey added.Tears welled up in my eyes as I noticed some of the girls murmuring and giggling behind my back.Why am I always the mocked one??Why am I always the poor one?? Why is everyone being so unfair to me??…
‘You know what?? You can stay’..Mrs Humphrey stopped me when I got to the door…
‘Thank you ma’..I muttered and smiled broadly going back to my work station.Maybe being the poor one ain’t so bad after all…

I got home an hour after school was over because of Cooper’s party which i was planning.The wh0le house seemed quiet when I walked in.The kitchen tap was on and the Television was also on..
What’s going on??..
I rushed upstairs and changed into my casual wear thinking I would run into Payton when i was done but no.I microwaved the left over burrito in the fridge and ate it over a can of soda and still —Payton didn’t come downstairs.
Okay that’s it!!!..
I went back upstairs to her room and opened the door only to get the shock of my life..
‘I’m unclad!!!’..Payton scre-med and i smirked not even bothering to close my eyes..
She has the nicest b-obs I’ve ever seen though..
