LEAH POV

The events of the day just filled my mind as I lay on my school mother’s bed that evening, I didn’t want to go to the dining that evening so I ran to my school mother’s corner in other to prevent being punished by other senior students.

Confusion filled my thought, one thing is for sure, I love Eric, could it be that his reason for cheating was because we weren’t intimate yet. But I thought s€× is never a measure to prove love? or is the misery girl taking advantage of the fact that I’m not ready for s€× and is using it to scheme her way into Eric’s heart?. It’s not as if I’m ready for s€× anyway, well there is a saying that true love conquers it all, if I and Eric are meant to be then so be it. I will never engage in a fight with any girl because of a boy, never.

“Leah are you okay, you’ve been tossing on that bed ever since you lay on it, you look troubled, you can talk to me you know, I’m your school mother”

“I’m having stomach cramps, I think my period is about to start”

“are you sure, I’ve been observing you for some time now, all is definitely not well with you, tell me”

Awwwwwn, I think coming here was a bad decision, what do I tell her now. I was still trying to come up with something when her roommate Stella came in, she looks as if she had been crying

“Mara please I need to talk to you now”

I felt relived, Ah thank God, what a perfect escape.

“Leah please excuse us, for a while, any senior that sees you tell her you’re with me”

“ok”. I left her room, and went upstairs to our hall, no senior dare flog me or they will have my school mother to contend with, she was well respected among her mates, she was the hostel prefect.

VALENTINE POV

I waited and searched round the the dining but I couldn’t get a glimpse of her, finally I sighted Nitty, she must definitely know were Leah was. I moved towards her direction.

“nita, what’s up, we’re your friend”

“shebi I look like her bodyguard abi”

“no na, I need to see her it’s urgent”

“well, after she came back this evening looking as if the world crashed on her head, she went Straight to her school mother’s room, when it was time for dinning I went to call her but she said she wasn’t coming”

“I hope she’s ok”

“I don’t know, she refused to tell me anything, but I think her boyfriend came to school Today and I suspect it has something to do with him”

“OK, my regards to her, I’ll call her later at night ”

” no p.”

I felt guilty, I’ve really messed things up, why can’t I even control my anger, I know she must hate me now.

My plans for the day was ruined, I went back to the hostel feeling devastated.

LEAH POV

it was not quite long after I went back to my bunk, that students started coming back from dinning, nita, came in

“So you finally crawled out of you mummy’s bosom”

“abeg just go back to were you’re coming from biko, I was doing fine before you came”

“eh eh from your mind, you know say na opposite ”

” mtcheeeeew, you won’t believe what happened today”

I narrated everything that happened to her

“So you mean Val actually beat him up!,”

“I was shocked myself, but I was pissed”

“if you ask me I think the guy deserved what he got, he’s an unrepentant cheat”

“I think it’s the girl that’s throwing herself at him”

“babe forget that one, see I think you should forget about Eric, and move on with Val, this guy loves you, and you know it. Tell me, haven’t you ever wondered why he has refused to date all those numerous girls that are constantly throwing their self at him, he continues sticking to you even when you practicality friend zoned him, I think the guy has been holding this feeling for so long and he busted it out today”

“So are you now on Val’s side”

“I’m not siding with anyone, I’m only saying reality, one day you will remember these words of mine”

“prophetess, I hear you, anyway it’s Eric I love, I only see Val as a brother, and if he’s not satisfied with that then, he better stay away from me, I will not tolerate any form of obsession from anybody”

VALENTINE POV

Walking back to the hostel that evening was one of the hærdest times of my life, if only Leah understood how she makes me feel, I have come to love only two people in my life, my mother and Leah, i never really saw my dad, I was told that he died shortly after I was born and my mum never remarried, she single handedly brought me up without the assistance of my father’s people and it is amazing how she turned our financial fortune into this powerful empire she is controlling now. Many people really don’t know who I am and Leah is no exception, I guess they’ve never reasoned why I my surname was Johnson and tried to connect it with “The Johnsons” a shopping mall with branches all over the country and even branches internationally too. She nagged hell when I insisted on schooling in the country and even board, but I had my way at the end.

When I was in primary school up to Jss3, I had so many friends, fake people all trying to benefit from me, they had bad influence on me that I couldn’t take my studies seriously, I watched how broken my mother was when she saw how poorly I did in my junior waec, she even cried secretly in her room. That was when I vowed never to make her cry again, I disassociated from all those friends and when I changed to FGC. I decided to keep my real identity a secret.

I feel in love with Leah the very first day I stepped into SS1c class. I resumed late after two weeks of resumption, because my mom had travelled out of the country to establish a branch at Los Angeles , after much waiting I decided to go to school o my own.

A teacher I later learned his name to be Mr Briggs esc-rted me to my new class and they were already learning, after introducing me as a new student, the wh0le class roared in laughter at what I couldn’t fathom but only one girl felt pity for me. After class that day, she introduced herself to me as Leah, the class captain and even offered to lend me her notes and help me copy some.

We became good friends afterwards and she started helping me with topics I couldn’t understand, I noticed my grades improve and even my mom was impressed.

She asked to know the secret and I told her it was a friend in my school. Since then she has been curious to meet this friend of mine, I had it in mind that I would invite Leah over to my place once we vacate for the Section. I sincerely hope I’ve not ruined my chances of doing that with the mess I’ve just created.

When I got to my hostel, I noticed my locker was not locked, I remembered locking it before going to the dining, I checked and every thing was intact except that the corner I kept my books was a little bit scattered.

I didn’t have the strength to start worrying for anything so I just laid on my bed, thinking of ways to make things right with Leah.

I wouldn’t let my emotions make me loose her.

The friendsh¡p we shared brought me so much joy, and if I had to wait forever to realize that I’m the right guy for her, then so be it.

LEAH POV

Monday morning was finally here, it would be the first time my name would not be called among the best three at the assembly ground. I just wish I had a way of escaping the various questioning eyes that would turn to look at me when my name wouldn’t be heard as usual.

I vowed this was going to be the last I would ever let this happen, and I must retain my position as the overall best student at the speech and price giving day, I will give it my best shot.

I decided I wouldn’t cry or feel sad as it will only create more suspicion to me, so that morning I plastered a smile on my face and bounced majestically to the assembly ground.

At the end of the assembly I had course to celebrate, Anita made it to the first position closely followed by Valentinen and then Lucy, one of my class mate.

“for your mind ooh” I joked with Anita as we strolled to class “abeg, let me enjoy it while it lasts, I know I would be kicked back to my normal second position in the next CA” “God I’m so happy for my bestie, he made it for the first time, and even came out second, we need to celebrate this ooh, we’re is he sef”

“I thought you are still angry at him” “well for now, no because he made me proud as his personal coach”

Just then I sighted him coming. I noticed he wasn’t in a happy mood, I guess he was still feeling guilty for what happened.

“bestie what’s with this face now, you are supposed to be happy this morning, you finally made it to best three, see we need to celebrate this ooh, Bill on me” I noticed his mood brightened

“does it mean you are no longer mad at me”

“well, let’s live that aside for now, I’m so proud of you for this morning”

“I’m happy I made you happy, but please let me do the bill, as a sign of apologizing for my mess”

“no way, you can’t patronize me with free food from the canteen, maybe when we vacate you will take me out to a proper eaatry”

“like on a date? ” ” don’t start imagining things in your head young man” “yes madam”

We laughed together and walked into the class and my classmates were all gathered in front of the class looking at something, immediately I walked in I heard one person say, “here she comes” they all left the wall and my eyes caught something pasted on the wall. I looked at Valentine and he had his head bowed

I didn’t know what I was feeling at that moment, if it was anger or…….. I could just explode !!!!

Sequence 6

CONT. FROM LEAH’S POV

Plastered on the wall was the most beautiful work of art I’ve ever set my eyes on. I was literally staring at a spitting image of myself, only that it was in form of sketch. By the side of the drawing was an inscription

“As beautiful as her heart.

To the one I live”

The handwriting was very familiar to me so I starred at him waiting for an explanation.

“bestie, I did the drawing but I swear to you I don’t know how it got here”

Looking at him, I noticed he was sincere, but how did it get pasted on the wall”

“I know you are good in drawing but I never knew you were this good, this is me in sketch, and to even think it’s an imaginative drawing, awwwwwn, I feel I’m gonna cry”

“does that mean you are okay with it ”

” common Val, its not everyday people get lucky to have this kind of drawing with so much love in it. Thank you bestie you’re the best”

I pulled him into a hug and he embraced me like a lost child who just found his mother.

“you give me so much joy Leah”

The wh0le class went “awwwwwn” and I could hear clapping and hooting.

I started feeling shy so I pulled away from the hug

“how do I get this off here without ruining it, I’m so much in love with it already

“I’ll help with that” I heard Nelson say, and surprisingly he pulled it without even a tear.

We were still enjoying the moment when our Chemistry teacher walked into the class room. We all rushed to our seat to get ready for the day’s business.

VALENTINE POV

I was indeed surprised when I saw my latest drawing of Leah pasted on the wall, in front of the classroom, then I remembered coming back from dinning the other night to find my locker open, there was only one person I suspected and he gave me a thumbs up. I knew at once that he was the culprit but I was scared because I feared how Leah would react, but to my surprise it turned out to be one of the best moments of my life.

“my guy, I give this one to you bro”

“I told you to forget, Leah is already yours”

“serious I feared she was gonna freak out, but how did you manage to put this up”

“forget matter for matthias, what’s important that we were able to wow her”

“see I owe you big time bro, for this”

“what are friends for, we help each other in times like this.

“guy you too much”

“I’m counting on you to take it up from here, no fall my hand oh”

“Nelson you are the main man I swear ”

From now, I will take things one step at a time, and before she knows she will realize I’m the right one for her. I smiled to myself as I thought of the plans I’ve put together already, let the game begin.

EPISODE EIGHT

LEAH POV

“this guy really loves you Leah, give him a chance, cut all this bestie stuff”

“I thought we have settled this issue before, I have boyfriend and I don’t wish to double date”

“do you call that cheat a boyfriend, mtcheeeeew, suit yourself, but don’t run back to me crying when he hurts you one more time”

“please stop this abeg, I love valentine like a brother, I don’t feel anything for him, and I think it’s time I iron out things with him”

Just then a junior student ran up to meet us

“senior good afternoon, please this is for you”

I collected the paper from her and opens it.

“bestie please come meet me at the Lab. It’s important

Val”

“what’s that” “it’s from Val, he said I should meet him at the Lab” ” should I follow you” “don’t worry, just go ahead, I think it’s the best time to sort this wh0le thing out” “OK, if you insist, just be careful oh” we hugged and I walked to the Lab

When I got there I found him sitting, so I walked him

“Val we really need to talk”

“yes we do, that’s why I called you here, but we are going to somewhere else not here”

“were exactly ” ” trust me darling, I promise I won’t bite you” “funny, whose afraid of you, abeg go jare”

We walked together, towards the back of the school field, and then we got to a Place that looked like a garden, it was so beautiful with lovely flowers.

“wow! I’ve been in this school for two years and I never knew a place like this existed”

“this is where I normally come to spend my quite time and to make those drawings of you”

“you mean you have many drawings of me”

“more than a dozen”

“can I see them” “if you wish” “I’ll love to, Val you are a great guy but……….

” shush, please don’t say anything, let me do the talking,

Leah Nwachkwu, my first friend in FGC, my best friend, the one who helped me to improve my grades without giving up on me and made mom proud of me, I feel in love with you from the first day I set my eyes on you, Every day I wake up with smiles because I have some one so precious close to me, you give me so much joy Leah, I’ve never felt this way for anyone. I will never ruin our friendsh¡p because I believe that every strong lasting relationsh¡p is based on true friendsh¡p.

You may not see the future now but I do, I know you are my future and I’m not going to allow my emotions to ruin this sweet bond we have. I believe in my heart that some day, you will realize that we are truly meant for each other, and until that day, I’m patiently going to wait, no matter how long it takes”

I was dumbfounded, I didn’t expect this, I was caught in between two worlds and for minutes, my tongue seized, my brain ran short for words.

He moved close and held my hands, slowly car-ssing it, I felt fire burning through me, I never felt that way before.

“we can sit here for a while that’s if you don’t mind”

“sure let’s sit”

We sat on a fallen tree trunk.

“you know, I think we should carve our initials on the tree tree trunk, you know just like a reminder ”

” that’s sounds like a good idea, you know, look at that nail pick it up we can use it”

He picked up the nail and we carved our initials on it

LEAH.

BFF. For life

“wow, who ever discovers here after us will know we’ve been here before him or her”

“for your mind oh, but I discovered it first now”

“see this one ooh, is this one discovery, when you’re mates are discovering better things, mtcheeeeew ”

We laughed together and our eyes met. We helped the gaze looking at each other’s eyes, then as if pulled by a supernatural force, our l-ips locked in the most mind blowing k-ss I’ve ever had.

CONT. FROM LEAH POV

My mind was fighting for me to pull away, but my body was unwilling, it was as if my mouth was glued to his.

Finally he removed his l-ips

“we’ll surely remember this day someday Leah”

With that, he ,cupped my face with his two hands and planted a k-ss on my fore face.

“Val please I need to go to the hostel”

“So we are good right ” he asked

” we are friends ” I replied

” I love to be your friend ”

” whatever, please let’s get out of here”

We walked silently back to the hostel, guilt was killing me, I can’t believe I just k-ssed Val, and the feeling was out of this world, I’ve never felt that Way with Eric before.

What is happening to me, what’s with this feeling I’m having.

It’s definitely not love, there is only one person I love and that is Eric, and I’m going to make things go back to the way it was.

“Leah, you are walking with me but your mind is at Abuja abi, we’ve reached girls dormitory ooh, ” he said pulling me out of my thoughts.

” oh, I didn’t even realize, maybe it’s this headache Im having, I’ll run along now before I start answering unnecessary questions from all these annoying seniors” I said hurrying along.

“OK, see you during dinner ”

” please bring those drawings along, I’ll really love to see them ”

” yes her majesty ” he said blowing me a k-ss.

I ran into the hostel, luckily for me, all seniors were not around, I they were in a meeting with the Senior Boarding House Mistress, so I quietly sneaked to my corner.

“Finally ooh, I thought you will not come back again, here, I know you must be hungry ”

She handed me a bowl of soakings, (cornflakes, milk, sugar and water).

“thank you jare, but I don’t have appetite, I don’t know what came over me, nitty I messed up”

“now you are beginning to scare me, what happened ”

” I’m a cheat now, nitty I cheated on Eric”

“wait a sec, don’t tell me you guys did it in the Lab”

“No, when I got to the Lab, he took me to a garden at the back of the School field, that’s were it happened”

“So you mean to tell me that what was meant to be just a talk for you both to iron yourselves out turned out to be a s€× in some garden, Leah how could you allow such a thing” she was raising her voice now

“hey bring down your voice, and who said I had s€× with Val”

“but you just said it yourself that you cheated”

“we only k-ssed, and I felt……” She cut me short

“mtcheeeeew, you are mad this girl, so you want to give me high BP. Abi?

So ordinary k-ss and you call that one cheating, you really need help,

but wait oh, you said you guys k-ssed, how come, I mean what happened, hmmmmmmmm Leah, I seems you are falling already oh”

“don’t be silly jare, it was just a stupid mistake, I’ll never let it happen again ”

” mistake my foot, accept reality girl,

Wow!!, so you mean Val took you to a garden just to k-ss you, awwwwwn, the guy is so rom-ntic, girlfriend this is a real guy crazily in love with you ”

” Enough!!, I love only one guy and that is Eric, so as my friend it’s best if you respect my decision”

“if you say so, but say I didn’t warn you oh”

” whatever, please I need to rest, I had a very long day today”

I took of my u uniform and lay on my bed, I needed to have a little nap before evening dinning.

ERIC POV

“Yeah, h-rder, give it to me baby, ahhhhhh, you’re so sweet”………..

I collapsed on the bed as I reached my c—-x

“babe you’re so sweet and hot” I said tickling her

“So you know, but you will still leave me and be running after that your secondary school girlfriend ”

” Abeg don’t just go there, leave Leah out of this please you know how I feel about her”

“then I’m your s€× machine abi”

“No now, you know you want this thing, and I also want yours so why don’t we enjoy the moment and forget about this argument, do you think I don’t know you have a serious boyfriend”

“hmmmmmmmm, that one that can’t even satisfy me, I’m just hanging around him because of the money,

but seriously I’m ready to quit him, just say the the word, you know how much I love you Eric, and I know you love me too, just forget about that Leah girl and I promise you ill make you feel like the happiest guy alive”

“are you sure, OK show me what you’ve got baby”

I mounted her for another round, I swear this girl is a killer.

Her wa-ist is to die for, but no matter what, she can never replace my Leah.

VALENTINE POV

I had the best moment with Leah, from the k-ss, I realized that indeed she had something somewhere for me, she’s just in denial but very soon she will realize.

I was on my way back to my hostel before I sighted Pamela coming my way,

she was one of those SS3 students that was so full of herself, she was just a rich spoilt brat,

I even heard that more than half of the her mates had already slept with her.

I noticed she was coming my way so I quickened my pace but she caught up with me.

“Hey Valentine or whatever they call you, stop trying to get away from me, just listen to what I’m about to tell you and give me feedback by tomorrow. She said drawing my attention.

I’m aware you have feelings for Leah and I know how much you would like to make her your girlfriend,

just like you, I have feelings for Eric her boyfriend,

you maybe wondering how I got to know about that but I’ll spare you the reasoning,

Eric works at one of the Cyber Cafe my dad owns and I’ve been admiring him for a long time now,

I was surprised when I started seeing him in school, I did some investigations and I found out he was dating your best friend Leah.

I want him, and I know you also want Leah, let’s work together and achieve our aim.

This is a great offer I expect you to jump at, so think about it and get back to me as soon as possible”

With that she she left chewing her gum noisily and swaying her h¡ps in the most provocative way I’ve ever seen.
