💖 Valería’s standpoint 💖
I rubbed my hands on the side of my beautiful white wedding dress, for my fake wedding. I was really nervous because if things didn’t work out as planned, I would eventually die. Carlos assured me that everything would be okay, but I wasn’t convinced at all. I didn’t want my first wedding experience to be fake but I didn’t have a choice. I smiled nervously as I stared at myself in the mirror, Carlos and Carolyn looking at me with a smile. Well, Carolyn was taking pictures.
‘I don’t want to do this,’ I whined.
‘We’ve been through this, you can, just relax.’
‘Am I going to k-ss him? I can’t k-ss my sister’s fiancé,’
‘For a good course Ria,’ Carlos said, maintaining his cool voice.
‘Aren’t you jealous? That your girlfriend is going to be k-ssing another man?’ I huffed.
‘When I know it’s fake?’ He asked back, folding his arms.
‘I wanted my first wedding experience with you, this s-cks.’ I complained.
‘Valería, it’s your wedding day, don’t misbehave,’ Caro scolded. ‘Now, get yourself together, we have to head to the church.’ Carlos stood up and walked to me.
‘Milady,’ he bowed gentlemanly. I placed my hand on his and sighed.
‘Why am I doing this again?’
‘Because you love your sister and want her to be safe,’
‘Hmm, that’s a good point,’ I grinned. He chuckled and helped me down from the stool. I slipped my feet into my white stilettos and wiggled my toes. ‘Ready.’
‘Okay, let’s go.’ He interlocked his arm with mine. My stomach fluttered from nervousness. I can’t even imagine myself marrying Ame, he’s very scary. Aside from Cookie, Yolanda, Cephas and few times, Carlos, he’s mean and rude to anyone else.
I loved Carlos, really really love him. He’s everything I want in a man; dangerous but since when have my life ever been normal? I really want to spend the rest of my life with him, even though I am yet to fathom why I love him. He isn’t ready for the commitment of marriage or having kids, but I know one day we will get married.
To forward how it happened; dad walked me down the aisle, I almost collapsed standing so close to Ame, almost melted when he smiled at me like I was the most priceless thing in his life, when he placed a k-ss on my l-ips. That moment, I got a glimpse of what Cookie was enjoying. I shook my head to delete the thought, I shouldn’t be thinking about that. Carlos wasn’t as caring and warm as Ame, so far he had been showing me the him Cookie knew and I was starting to get little emotions. Just in two days. The man was taking my breath away.
Don’t fall for his charms Valería, he’s your sisters fiancé… I mentally scolded myself.
‘Here,’ he said softly, dropping a glass of warm milk on the table. We were on one of his island now, took two days to get here. ‘Drink it, food will be ready in ten minutes.’
‘Thank you,’ he nodded and turned to leave, to continue his arrangement. ‘Er, sir…’
‘Ame,’ he cut me off. ‘I’ve told you to call me Ame, not sir.’
‘Okay, sorry sir… Ame.’
He exhaled. ‘What is it? Is the headache still bothering you?’
‘Not really, I just wanted to ask a question if you won’t mind.’
‘Okay, what is it?’
‘Promise you won’t get mad?’ I asked pleadingly.
‘Just ask, I won’t get mad.’
I inhaled. ‘Why do you love Cookie? What do you see in her?’
He raised a brow, obviously not expecting that question. ‘Valería, when you first met her, the injured girl in a warehouse, what urged you to save her? I’m not talking about your sister connection, that f-ck isn’t the real thing and you know it. Tell me Valería, what did you see in her that made you risk your life, financial stability and dignity to save her?’
‘I…I…I…’ I stammered. I honestly have no idea. Something about her just seems to pull people to her, make people love her unconditionally. It is not magic, not just charisma or charms… Maybe grace but, I don’t know. ‘I don’t know.’
‘There you have it, I don’t know. I just find myself imprisoned by her, held down by her shackles, pinned by the heart with hers.’
I pouted. ‘What is there to love about her?’
‘What is there not to?’ He asked with a smile, a distant one. ‘Aside from her natural magnet, she’s a lucky star. Cookie is smart, clever, amazing, caring. Her abnormality is one of the reason why I love her so much. Even if she drives me crazy, even if she makes me yell… Well, made me yell, I still found her amusing, incredible. She’s like an antidote; my perfect antidote. Everything about her is worth loving and I know that I am not the only man who can see that.’
I kept quiet, pondering over what he said.
Why was I even asking in the the first place?!
‘Do you need anything else?’
‘No, I’m good.’ He offered me another killer smile before walking off.
💚 Ted’s standpoint 💚
I walked into my office in the three storey lake house with too much glass windows and doors. Carlos, Maurice and Bruce were there already, arguing over something. They all kept quiet when I walked in. ‘Carlos,’
‘Yeah?’
‘Wanna know why you never have a stable relationsh¡p?’ He got confuse. ‘You don’t ever show care and love to your woman. Just two days with me and her feeling is already diverting. What is your problem?’
‘I don’t get…’
‘Shut up, you lack human care and that is bad. I’m not saying you should shower her with all the attention in the world, just shower her with enough attention or she will ditch you the moment she finds someone new and more loving. Remember the person condescending to your level is Cephas’ daughter. Don’t let me remind you again.’
‘Okay.’
‘Now, where were we?’
‘Cookie called, she informed us that she won’t be coming with Brad, that you must protect Valería.’
‘Why the sudden change in plan? She told me she was coming, I want to see her.’ I whined.
‘She said she has her reason, don’t worry, she’ll be fine.’ Maurice assured me. I held my breath and bit my bottom lip.
‘Ted, you are tensing up, calm down…’
‘What if he found out? Wh…’
‘Cookie is smart and I know she can escape anything, just trust that she knows why she suddenly changed her mind.’ Bruce added. I exhaled and nodded.
‘Brad would be here in two hours, we better get ready.’
‘You all can go, I need some time to think,’ I whispered. They nodded in understanding and walked out one after the other. I stayed quiet, wondering why she changed her mind.
Does it mean that she doesn’t want to watch him die? Has she grown attached to him? Cookie won’t betray me, right?
Ted, she won’t.
Then why do I feel so off?
You are always feeling off… I mentally rolled my eyes. Just trust her as much as she trust you.
If you’re wrong and she betray me, then I’ll kill you.
You can’t kill me, I’m your subconscious.
Says who?
Says fact. Now stop disturbing me and focus more on ending this.
🍪🍘 Cookie’s standpoint 🍘🍪
There is no such thing as an easy kill, there is no such thing as a piece of cake, at least not in my world. Everything was going too easily, my mind was on high alert. At first I thought I was lucky, then I remembered he always seems to come back from the dead all the time. Ted did say he is not an easy man so how did he fall so easily? Okay, that isn’t important because I know he loves my brain, not me. The thing was that I was feeling off all of a sudden, ever since he disappeared and came back. I couldn’t question him, not when he snapped at me not to.
Something was wrong somewhere and I was going to find out.
I faked pregnancy at the last minute, so he would let me go. If it was truly what I was suspecting, then he will be unaware. I already had a location but I returned to his house first to get ready. I wore a black leather cat suit with sewn on holsters, straps and a nice belt which I could hide weapons. I packed my hair into a bun, shoving poisonous hairpins around the bun and paralysis pins on my heavy metal bracket. I had different valuable knives on me, ones for different emergency, in case of one. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting.
The Spyderco Matriarch Ted gifted me after my first successful training before I lost my memory. It is an offshoot of the larger Spyderco Civilian. The knife is for last-ditch situations as a defensive tool for people not trained in knife fighting or close quarters combat in general; an idiot-proof self-defense tool, designed to be used in a forward-facing “claw” motion. I was offended when he gave it to me, polite insult. It works in the tip-up carry position. I had it at the edge of my back pocket. The next was a Fox Knives Folding Karambit designed expressly for fighting and self defense. An Italian knife, one Yolanda loves. not jabbing, obviously. The design of the knife favors a reverse grip and allows you to use the blade in a swinging rather than a thr-sting motion. I had a Ka-Bar TDI; designed as a back-up knife to a handgun, an easy-to-access secondary option if your primary defense tool can’t be reached or doesn’t work. I had it strapped to the one of the holster in my belt. I also had guns, like I said, didn’t know what I was expecting.
I silently parked my bike in the bushes, looking at the house that was built deep in,side Rhodes. What he left Corfu Island to Rhodes for, I was about to find out. Dropping the M16A1 on the ground, I tightened the straps of Type 56 across my chest. I climbed onto a tree and positioned the Scar-H Sniper on this tree branch and laid down. I looked at everyone with the aid of the telescope, counting the men on the roof, balconies and on the ground. Only two were on the roof, one on each balcony; which was four. The rest of the men were seated around a fire, laughing as they ate.
‘After tonight, I’m going to need ten women to satisfy me because I’m so ho-ny that not even the crack of dawn can fix that…’ One of them said, causing them all to laugh. I rolled my eyes and averted my eyes to the men on the roof. I used the telescope to look into the house, someone was standing at the window making angry gestures. I gasped, the gun almost slipping out of my hand at who I saw there.
Ted?
What is Ted doing here?
How come?
I furrowed my brows and clicked my tongue, that can’t be possible, right? I had to find out. I brought out my pin gun, fixed the pins in my brackets into the gun and c*cked it. I aimed it at the pot of soup being boiled on the fire and shot three pins into the pot. I shot another one into the pig being roasted and five into the barrow of wild red wine. I slipped the gun back into it holster and waited for them to eat.
Seeing as all of them already took shares of the poisoned food and wine, I let the branch fall before jumping down from the tree. I picked my gun back up and navigated my way to the back of the house. The men were feeling safe because no one knew the location of the house. I crawled to a window, hiding myself in the shadows and pillars. I jumped into the open window, crouching down immediately. I inhaled and looked up at the air vent, that would be easier to get around in. I climbed up into the vent and crawled in it, finding my way to the room I saw Ted. I mentally calculated where the room would be, not sure but I was going to try.
‘…what do you mean by she didn’t come with you? Why didn’t you tell me earlier!’ I heard him bark. I looked down and saw him pacing around. ‘You idiot! You were suppose to take her along with you and have her transported to Egypt just in case the plan backfires, what if anything happens to her?! I can’t lose such a brilliant mind! And she’s pregnant! How is that possible when all the BC’s sp**ms aren’t reproducible… Don’t tell me you are sorry and f-cking go back for her or I’ll shove you back into the tank you came from!’ He hung up. ‘Nonsense!’ His voice wasn’t exactly alike, it was deeper.
This isn’t Ted.
Then who can it be?… I asked myself. My eyes w¡dened as the answer came to me plainly… Braddock! It’s Braddock! He must have changed his face. No wonder Ted could never kill him, you can’t kill the wrong person. So all those Braddock, including the one I’ve been sleeping with isn’t Braddock.
He walked out of the room. I quickly jumped down from the vent and ran to his computer. I removed the flash drive River gave to me and installed it. The flash drive was made to access all systems. I typed in the password being displayed and waited for it to load. Three minutes later, the computer unlocked. I quickly went to his files, frantically searching for anything that would give off information. I found one.
THE BRADDOCK EXPERIMENT CT9
What’s this?
I clicked it and waited. I quickly scrolled through, getting the shocking revelation. All the Braddock killed and the one going to be killed were clones, freakin’ clones. The original Braddock had his face changed to Ted’s recently. He has been here, sending his clones out to handle his dirty jobs. He had about fifty five more clones in an underwater facility in Alaska. He would have made more but there were risks. CT9 stood for Clone Trial 9, they had eight failed try and nine was the successful one. I copied the doc-ment to the drive and copied other important doc-ments. I drummed my fingers as I waited and contemplate on whether I would let him live or not.
The answer is not.
I removed the pin gun again, removed five pins from my bun, broke the pin open and installed it. I c*cked the gun and looked around, I looked at the vent and smirked. Removing the drive after it finished downloading, I turned off the computer and slipped the drive back into my pocket and went back to the air vent. I climbed back into the vent not a moment too soon; the door burst open and he walked in with two guys. All holding guns in alert. They looked around, pointing their guns around. They checked all the doors in the office before dropping their guns.
‘Idiot! Check the premises and make sure there is no one here. Also check the foods and wine to see if anyone poisoned it!’ Brad yelled. ‘No one is here so the person must still be in,side the house, or people. Maybe even one of you is doing this.’
‘Yes sir,’
‘Should we go now?’
‘Now!’ They ran out. Brad face palmed himself and sighed. ‘Anxiousness is getting to me. Those idiots probably drank themselves to stupor again.’ I positioned the gun at his neck and squinted, mentally praying that I don’t miss.
God, just this once, help me.
I closed my eyes and pulled the trigger, good thing it was silence. I missed his neck but got the junction between his shoulder and neck. He gro-ned and tried to shoot at the door but I shot him three more times. The paralysis poison worked fast, he fell on the floor grunting helplessly. I opened the vent and jumped down, grinning from ear to ear. His eyes w¡dened with shock. ‘You!’ He snorted incredulously.
‘Me,’ I gasped. I cupped my mouth dramatically and dropped my hand, placing it on my h¡ps and c*cking it. ‘How’d you do, Braddock?’
‘You…you…betray…’ He coughed, blood spluttering out of his mouth. I grinned and swayed on my toes.
‘Never trust a woman, Delilah was the doom of Samson.’
‘Who are you?’ He coughed.
‘It is I! Lady Praxina Aileen Newton, second daughter of Cephas Newton and original heiress to his empire, AKA Ted’s true fiancée. Thank you for your hospitality, you took good care of me… Well, your clone did but whatever.’
He laughed hysterically. ‘All my plans, everything I have worked so hærd for, all to be destroyed by a woman.’
‘Not just a woman, a viper,’ I smirked. I could hear footsteps heading to me. ‘This time, you won’t escape, this time, you won’t return. It’s a shame Ted’s face isn’t the last you would see…’ I said as I opened the sleeping gas glock. I pressed the button on my headband, my metallic mask clacked and made it way down, shielding me from the gas. I removed the smoke bomb from my pocket and broke it on the floor.
I walked to him and pulled him up, using him as a body shield. ‘What’s this? Who did this!’
‘Hey boys!’ I shrieked. The fools immediately fired, releasing countless of random bullets into the room. Many stray bullets hit Brad, most at his chest.
‘Sleeping gas, get back,’ One coughed.
‘Get the masks and googles!’ I dropped his body on the floor when I heard their exiting footsteps. I could see through the X-ray googles. I ran over to the window and opened it. I removed the cylinders from the straps at my calves and emptied the marble explosives on the floor, throwing it everywhere. One step on one and the others would explode.
I jumped down from the window, landing on my feet. I gro-ned as the pain shot through me. Ignoring it, I emptied another cylinder of marbles on the ground to support assist the ones in the office. The men had all ran in,side. I quickly ran to the bush I hid my bike and climbed on it. One of the marble exploded. ‘F-ck!’ I started the bike and drove off as fast as the bike could. The house exploded to pieces, the explosion causing a mini earthquake. My bike tumbled along with me, pressing me down. I hissed as the exhaust pipe k-ssed my leg. I held my breath, lifting it up so I could get out. I managed to scramble back, breathing heavily. I bent my leg to examine it for damage.
‘Phew,’ my suit got the burn and the holsters protected my leg. I quickly removed the heated guns and threw them on the floor. The explosion was still going on. Those marbles were strong enough to destroy the forest. ‘Sorry animals,’ I emptied the last cylinder of marbles and sprinted, heading straight to the river almost surrounding the place. I dodged the weak trees falling because of the earthquake, glad that it wasn’t severe enough to break through the earth.
I got to the edge of the cliff and looked down, I could swim to the nearest shore from here, hopefully, there weren’t any wide animals. I have done my part Ted, hopefully, the others would do the rest to end this completely. With one last look at the damage I’ve caused, I jumped down from the cliff.
To be continued.
Yes! Two or three more chapters to end the journey of Sweet but Psycho. Who’s excited?
