UNPLANNED CONFESSION

GL-HOSPITAL

Leonardo inside. He was wheeled into a private room, where a team of doctors and nurses were waiting.

They immediately began to assess his injuries, taking his vital signs and starting an IV. Leonardo was in a daze, the events of the last few hours still a blur.

Lyric turned to the doctor who was monitoring Leonardo’s vital signs.

“Please, doctor. Do everything you can to save him. I can’t lose him.”she pleaded, her voice quavering.

The doctor looked at her, his face somber.

“We surely will. But you need to understand that his condition is serious. It’s too early to say for sure what the outcome will be” he said, his voice steady.

Lyric’s heart sank, but she forced herself to stay strong, and she was being led out by one of the nurse.

Lyric stood at the foot of Leonardo’s hospital ward, tears streaming down her face. No matter how much she tried to held it, it’s kept on coming freely and now she has no limit.

The tears kept falling down Lyric’s face, no matter how hard she tried to stop them. She was so worried about Leonardo, and the thought of him being injured because of her was almost too much to bear. She felt so helpless, waiting for news.

Then, she heard footsteps approaching, and she turned to see Princeton walking towards her. His eyes were filled with concerned and worried too.

“Any news?!” He asked, his voice soft.

Lyric shakes her head.

Princeton held his head, praying silently.

He did that for minutes before turning to Lyric who’s now squatting.

“I know this is hard, but you really should go home. There’s nothing you can do here, and you need to take care of yourself too, You’ve been crying so much and I know Boss won’t be happy if he founds out!” Princeton said.

Lyric’s eyes flashed.

“I’m not leaving, I’m not leaving until he wakes up! How do you expect me to leave when this is all my fault? I’m not leaving his side no matter what??” she said, her voice firm.

Princeton sighed. He could see that Lyric was determined to stay, no matter what he said. He knew it was pointless to argue with her, so he just nodded.

Just then, Mikaela rushed in.

“What’s going on? Where’s brother?” Mikaela asked, her voice sharp.

Lyric and Princeton exchanged a glance, and then Princeton explained the situation.

“I’m sorry? He got hurt because of me… He was trying to save me…” Lyric muttered and Mikaela turned to her.

“What do you mean? He got hurt because of you?” Mikaela asked.

Lyric nodded.

“No, This is my fault! If there’s anyone you should get mad at here is me. I failed my job as his bodyguard! I’m sorry!” Princeton said and Mikaela just stare at him.

“I should have been the one-

“Stop talking nonsense! I’m already devastated as it is!” She cut him off,breaking into tears.

“Mika…ela!”

“Should I call Big Sis? I really don’t know what to do if anything happens to him?!!” She cries more, and Princeton held her.

“Calm down okay? We’ve to be strong for him! I’m sure he’ll be fine cos he’s a fighter and he won’t give up easily…” Princeton assured and hugged her.

“Are you sure about this?” Mikaela said in tears.

“I promise!” He added and Mikaela nodded.

Lyric gulped watching them with teary eyes.

A HOUR LATER.

The door to the hospital room opened again and a doctor emerged. He was wearing scrubs and his eyes were tired, but he had a smile on his face.

“The operation was a success. Mr Leonardo is extremely lucky. The car hit him at a low speed, so he avoided any major injuries. He has some broken bones and lacerations, but he should make a full recovery soon. Good thing you brought him as soon as it’s happens, he’s now stable and he’s resting now. He should wake up in a few hours.” The doctor said addressing them.

Lyric and Mikaela both let out a sigh of relief.

“You can visit him when he wakes up, but I ask that you please give him some time to recover. He’s been through a lot, and he’ll need some rest” The doctor continued.

“Thank you, doctor” Princeton said to him.

“You’re welcome” the doctor said and left.

“Thank goodness!!!” Mikaela muttered silently, hugging Princeton again.

NEXT MORNING

Lyric sat in the hospital chair next to Leonardo, her eyes fixed on his sleeping form. She hadn’t been able to sleep a wink last night. Even after the doctor had assured her he would be fine, she just don’t feel like leaving his side.

All this happen because of her. She can’t stop reminding herself that and now seeing him lying there, hooked up to machines and bandaged up, was almost too much to bear.

She just couldn’t rest until she saw him for herself.

Princeton and Mikaela left this morning to get some things he might be needing when he wakes up.

As she stared at him, her phone rang. She fumbled for it, her eyes not leaving Leonardo. She saw that it was a call from Granny Lupe.

“Hello?” Lyric answered the phone, her voice sounding tired.

“Dear, How’s your boss fairing?” the nanny’s voice said on the other end of the line.

“Still the same thing. He hasn’t wake up yet” she replied sadly.

“Don’t loose hope, I’m sure he’ll soon. The kids are doing great, and they won’t stop asking when you’ll be home.”

Lyric sighed.

“I’m not sure yet. Can you tell them that I’ll be home as soon as I can?”

“Of course, And don’t worry about them… Take care of yourself and keep me informed okay?” Granny Lupe said, and hung up.

She turned back to Leonardo and held his hand. It was so cold and soft.

“Please open your eyes! I really can’t stop worrying!” She muttered.

DAVINA’S MANSION

Davina has been pacing around her room for hours, shaking with fear. She still can’t get the fact that she hurt the man she claims to love with her own two hands.

“I’m really sorry Leo! I didn’t mean to do it!!” She muttered.

She only saw Leonardo coming when she was almost hitting him. She panicked but it was too late to stop the speed. She already hit him.

“F*ck me! F*ck Davina!!” She cursed out loud and rushed to grab her cat key.

Fortunately for her, No one saw her cos they were more eager to rushed him to the hospital and she knows where he was cos she actually followed them.

“Wait for me Leo! I’ll make it up to you, just don’t give up for me!” She said inwardly, and left the house.

ROYAL COLLEGE

Eclipse could be seen dragging her feet out of the class as soon as the lecture ended. Since Mikaela is not in school, she’s feeling bored and alone.

A hand suddenly pull her headphone from her ears and she turned to see Dave.

“Lovely!” He smiled charmingly and Eclipse returned the smile. Seeing his face was enough to lift her mood.

“What are you doing?” He asked.

“Nothing, Why?” Eclipse replied.

“I wanted to ask you something… but I’m not sure this is the right place…” Dave paused, staring at her face.

“What is it?” Eclipse asked, impatiently.

“You can either say yes or no… Okay? Ready?”

Eclipse nodded.

“Will you be my girlfriend?” Dave said.

Lyric had dozed off at some point, her head resting on the edge of Leonardo’s bed. She was still holding his hand.

Leonardo’s eyes slowly parted and he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Lyric’s hand, intertwined with his own. He stared it for a moment, noticing the delicate veins and the soft skin.

He began to gently rub her hand with his thumb, noticing how it made her fingers twitch slightly. He then looked up at her face, seeing that she was fast asleep. He watched her sleeping form for a moment, a small smile playing on his lips.

It was then that Lyric stirred, her eyes fluttering open. She looked at Leonardo, a smile spreading across her face.

Lyric sat up straight, a look of pure joy on her face.

“Sir Leonardo!” she exclaimed, her voice full of excitement. “You’re awake! How are you feeling?”

Leo’s smile grew even wider.

“Good. It’s feels great to see you first waking up” Leonardo looks up at her, his eyes bleary.

Lyric blinked, feeling her cheeks heating up but she quickly covered it with a short smile.

“I’m really glad you’re away, and I’m sorry you had to risk your life for me…”

“I’m more happy I did it! I won’t be able to forgive myself if anything happens to you” Leonardo said, his smile growing wider.

Lyric suddenly lost word. She got confused for a moment.

Why is he saying??

Who does he mean and what is he saying all this to her??

“Are you feeling hungry? I’ll just get you something to eat! I’ll be back really quick, just give me a moment…” She said and before Leonardo could stop her, she already left.

Leonardo just lay back recalling her sleepy cute face just now.

MINUTES LATER

Just as Leonardo was about to drift off to sleep, the door to his ward flew open with a loud bang. He opened his eyes are once , startled by the sudden noise.

He turned towards the door, expecting to see Lyric, but instead saw Davina, a look of concern on her face.

“Davina” he called shockingly.

Leonardo’s relief quickly turned to annoyance as he realized who was standing in front of him. He had never been a fan of Davina, and the thought of her barging in like this made his blood boil.

“What are you doing here?” he asked, his tone sharp.

Davina faltered for a moment, taken aback by his harsh tone.How come he’s still harsh towards her in this state?

“I… I just wanted to make sure you were okay,” she said, her voice quivering.

“And how do you know about this? Are you stalking me?” Leonardo demanded, trying hard not to raise his voice.

“Obviously, Cos I still love you Leo!!” Davina moved closer.

Leonardo stared at Davina, his expression unreadable. He knew that she was behind it and was only here because she felt guilty about what had happened. He wasn’t sure if he could ever forgive her for what she had done. But in this moment, he didn’t want to argue. He just wanted to rest.

“Please, just leave me alone. I’m not in the mood to talk right now” Leonardo said, his voice low.

“Why do you have to go through this for her? Why?!!” Davina demanded angrily.

“So, you’re admitting you did it!!”

“Tell me why you f*cking risk your life for a mere secretary?!! Tell it straight to my face right now Leonardo!!!” Davina barked.

“Yeah! She’s my secretary and I’m saying I love her! I’m in love with her okay? I’m madly in love with her”

Suddenly, a food flask slipped from her grasp, clattering to the floor.The room went silent as Leonardo and Davina looked up, their eyes wide. There was Lyric standing by the doorway, her hands shaking.

She actually heard everything.
