💘 chapter 26💘

Grey, calm down.”

“Yeah, calm down.”
Tristan said wrapping his arms around my w–st from behind.

“You have ten seconds to leave before I call the cops and charge you for trespassing, I’m sure you didn’t enjoy your last stay in there.”
He added leaning closer to my cheek, he pressed his l-ips to my cheek.

I took a glance at Grey, his eyes were drilling into where he held me.

“Drop the act, there’s no audience for you to entertain with your filthy lies!”

“Act?’
Tristan laughed softly, I could feel the vibration from his body.

I pushed his hands away and shot him a glare, he wasn’t helping.

“You should head home, it’s getting late.”
I told him feeling too tired to witness any fight.

“I don’t know what you’re up to but if I find out, I won’t hesitate to tell the whole world and if you hurt Chloe…”

“I will never hurt her.”
Tristan cut in taking my hand, he gave it a light squeeze.

“You’ve hurt her already you moron, your lies and….”

“Grey, please go home.”
I begged.

“I will be back.”
He said more to Tristan than to me. I watched him walk back to his car.

I pulled my hand away and entered the house.

I went back to my drink, I sat on one of the couch and gulped the alcohol. I was starting to feel the effect.

Tristan stood behind the couch with his arms folded, there was a long silence between us.

“So, how old is Nadia now? Are you still seeing her mother? Why were you kicked out of their lives?”
The questions kept flying out of my mouth without control.

I waited for him to say something but he was quiet.

“How did you know?”

“I have my ways, Tristan.”

I looked behind me and found him walking away.

“There goes the typical Tristan, always running away like a chicken.”
The alcohol was really taking over. He stopped and turned around.

“You know, I was starting to think this thing between us was real but now I know.”

“You left me with no choice! I’m sick of the secrets.”

“So, you had to do that? Well, I hope you’re satisfied now.”

“No, I’m not. I wanna know if you’re still seeing her mother.”

“Why don’t you figure that one out yourself just like you found out about Nadia.”
He said walking closer.

“And to think I made up my mind to apologize for ruining the birthday surprise.”

I didn’t know what to say to him.

“You don’t have to know about my past. You know how I feel about you, you don’t have to go around digging for secrets that will tear us apart.”

“I want to!”
I stood up and moved closer.

“I hate that you’re keeping things from me. It’s been four freaking months!”
I said breaking down in tears, must be the alcohol.

“Don’t you think I deserve the truth after what you did to me?”
I asked stepping closer.

“You think you’re better than me? At least I don’t pretend to be an Angel, why don’t you fix your drinking problem first.”

“Drinking problem? I drink to drown my anger!”

“It doesn’t change anything! You’re still an alcoholic!”

“I see what you’re doing.”
I said.

“You are deflecting.”
I said and took another swig.

“You think it’s easy?”
He said in a pained voice.

“Ever since you saw that tattoo you’ve being a pain in the ass, you keep making me recall those horrifying memories, Chloe!”

“I want to tell you, I wish it’s that easy to open up to you. I’m not ready to tell you anything about my past. Forget it, all these was a waste of time.”

“I can’t be in a relationsh¡p where I feel left out, Tristan. A relationsh¡p is about trust, sharing your pain and struggles with each other. I want to know, stop making feel like a kid that can’t handle anything that comes her way.”

“Fine.”
He said throwing his hands in the air. Was he going to tell me?

“If you are finding it so hærd to trust me or even give me a little time then it’s okay, now I know why all your previous relationsh¡ps turn out to be a complete disaster.”
I gasped and balled my hand into a fist.

“Do you derive joy in hurting people?”
I dug my nails into my palms, how could he say that?

He pretended not to hear me.

“You are no better than the devil, Tristan!”
I yelled after him, wow the alcohol was messing with me real bad.

“I’m sure they left you because of the beast you are!”
I s¢ræmed as his figure disappeared.

I slumped on the floor in tears, I didn’t even know why I was crying but I was frustrated.

I was angry at myself, I gulped more drink as I cried.

I grabbed my phone and called Vina.

“Hello. Is this Chloe Simpson?”
She asked.

“Vina.”
I sobbed.

“Chlo? Are you okay?”
She sounded alarmed.

“No, I’m a big mess.”
I cried.

“Are you drunk?”
I wanted to deny but she knew the answer already.

“Kind of.”

“What did you do?”
She gr0-ned.

I told her everything that happened since I came back from her place.

“Oh God, you shouldn’t have.”

“I was upset.”

“You don’t know what he is going through, it must be hærd for him. Stop pressuring him.”

“I couldn’t control it.”
I sniffled.

“Now you listen to me.”
Her voice boomed with authority.

“Drop that alcohol, go to your room, take a bath and go to bed. Tomorrow, take your stupid ass and go apologize to him.”

“Apologize? How is this my fault?”

“You are in love with him and I’m sure he feels the same, why don’t you stop being a nosy bit** and wait for him to tell you, goodnight.”
She ended the call before I could open my mouth to object.

“Great.”
I mumbled and dropped the alcohol in my hand. I brushed my hair back and stared at the huge Chandelier above me.

I did exactly what she said but I couldn’t bring myself to apologize to Tristan the next morning.

I knew I was wrong but it was somehow the alcohol. For the next three days, we didn’t say a word to each other only awkward glances and pass me the salt or sugar.

I got tired of the silence and space between us. I missed him even if I saw him every day and sat at the dining with him. I made up my mind to apologize.

Vina had refused to talk to me, she wanted me to sort things out with Tristan first before contacting her.

Tuesday night after dinner I went up to his room. I knocked but he didn’t answer, he never answers anyway.

I opened the door and saw him busy on his laptop.

“Can I come in?”

“Yeah.”
He replied not looking back.

I walked in and shut the door, he shut his laptop and faced me. He scanned what I was wearing.

Great, today that I decided to wear my big pjs.

He stood up and moved closer, he maintained some space between us.

“Did you discover one of my skeletons?”
He asked folding his arms.

“I’m….um…I’m sorry for that night. I was a little drunk.”

He didn’t say anything, he stared at me like he was waiting for me to say more.

“I…I was angry and…um…”

“I have never seen you lost for words. I’m not mad at you, Cassie but I accept your apology since it was the hærdest thing you’ve ever done.”
He said stepping closer with a playful smile. Was I dreaming?

I opened my mouth to defend myself but he pulled me to his body, crashing his l-ips against mine.

I gasped from the sudden action, he wrapped one hand around my neck angling my neck for him to deepen the k!$s.

I didn’t see that coming, I moved my hand up his chest to his neck, he released a deep gr0-n and picked me up.

I put my arms around his neck not breaking the k!$s. I missed him so much, it was like being away from each other for years.

He sat on the bed with me straddling him, we broke the k!$s to catch our breath.

“Gosh, I missed you.”
He said brushing my hair back with his fingers, I smiled leaning closer to his touch.

“I’m sorry for being such an ass.”
I said not caring about what he said earlier.

“Glad to hear you say that, is not something someone like you admits.”

“Way to turn me off.”
I said pushing his back to the bed, he laughed.

“If we want us to work, you need to wait for me to tell you.”
He whispered softly.

“Soon, I promise.”

“Okay, ” I whispered.

I leaned down and nibbled on his lower lip, he gr0-ned and pulled me closer capturing my mouth in a deep k!$s.

His tongue grazed my teeth and he s×¢ked on my upper lip making me gr0-n in pleasure, I withdrew and took my shirt off.

He sat up, staring at me like he didn’t know what to do with me, he ran his hand up my bare back giving rise to goosebumps on my skin. He moved my hair one side and grazed my neck with his teeth.

I arched my back in pleasure running my fingers intimately through his hair, I threw my head back with my eyes closed, I couldn’t hold the m0-n back.

He switched our position in a flash, he took off his sweatshirt and trailed k!$ses up to my neck, he reached for the w–stband of my pyjama pants and pulled it down slowly.

This was definitely not how I expected the apology to turn out.

I woke up to someone tugging my hair.

“What are you doing?”
I gr0-ned at Tristan who was busy doing God knows what on my hair.

“Braiding.”

“Ouch!”
I winced at the sharp pain from his braiding.

“Almost done, relax.”
He said with a soft laugh.

I touched my hair when he was done and glared at him.

“The word is thanks.”

“For causing me pain?”
He smiled and raised my chin so he could k!$s me, it was slow and short.

“You look s-×y. I feel like a stylist right now.”
He said staring at the hair, I rolled my eyes.

“What time is it?”
I asked, looking around the dim room.

“Past six.”
He said car×ssing my cheek with his thumb.
I turned to look at him.

“Is something wrong?”
He asked pausing the movement of his thumb on my cheek.

“No, I missed you.”
I smiled, resting my chin on his chest.
I placed a k!$s on his chest and touched his stubble, how did this happen? How did I end up falling for the person I once wanted dead for ruining my life?

“I promise to explain everything to you.”
He said softly.

“It’s fine, take all the time you need.”
He cocked a brow in surprise.

“I will wait, Mr. Sanchester.”
I moved closer and k!$sed his l-ips, he gave me a wide smile, the next words that left his mouth left me paralyzed.

“I love you, Cassie.”
I was quiet and just stared at him not saying the words back.

“It’s fine if you don’t feel the same, I just wanted you to know.”

I did but I couldn’t say it for some reason, I k!$sed him again not liking the silence I created.

I moved slowly on top of him, he broke the k!$s and looked me in the eye.

“Promise you won’t leave after knowing everything?”

“I saw you at your worst and I stayed, I won’t.”
Partly because I was broke but now, it was because of him.

He looked relieved, he took my face and k!$sed me passionately, he switched our position hovering over me.

Lately, a lot changed between us. I promised Tristan and Vina to lock detective Chloe away and wait for him till he was ready.

I saw a new Tristan, the Tristan I would want to spend my whole life with.
He took me on dates and forces me to visit the spa every weekend.

I quit the Yoga class since I was starting to get suspicious stares from everyone.

Tristan hired four bodyguards to guard the house, whoever was messing with him didn’t plan on stopping.

The person still succeeded in torturing him with whatever happened six years ago, he started having nightmares where he kept muttering Forgive me, Fiona.

I didn’t question him but I was there to help, I was always around to provide some comfort and to assure him he was safe. Even with the guards, the person still found a way in.

Tristan went crazy after he found a blue dress on his bed, he ripped the dress apart and refused to say a word to me that day but he hugged me tightly in his sleep.

The other day, he found some baby onesies in his room. He broke down that day, the first time I ever saw him cry. He kept spacing out that day and I almost gave up on talking to him.
It made me sad to see him so broken.

I made it my mission to catch the monster torturing him, more guards were hired but it still didn’t help.

Who the hell was this person? And what did he or she want?
The person had to be someone he knew, it wasn’t just anyone.

Wednesday, Tristan decided to sleep in his room. I was worried, I was scared to leave him alone.

I stayed awake in bed staring at the ceiling, was he okay? What about his nightmares?

He told me he needed some time alone I hoped he won’t harm himself.

I sat up in my bed when I heard a crash.

“Tristan?”
I ran out of my room to him.

I opened the door and found him throwing things around and cursing loudly.

“Tristan stop!”
He continued.

I docked when his laptop came my way.

“Tristan, listen to me, it’s Cassie.”
I moved closer.

I touched his shoulder, he turned around with the bed-lamp in his hand.

The bed-lamp made contact with my head before I could save myself, I welcomed the darkness that surrounded me.
