Why am I allowing this guy to treat me like this, why can’t I stand for myself. Why does he become furious each time I deal with her, does he have feelings for her? All these were the thoughts running in my head

I prayed silently for them to win if not for anything but for my freedom. My breathing seized when the judges announced the first three schools that won and our school wasn’t among.

No! I know I’m doomed for real, I thought and closed my eyes waiting for my fate.

Aaaaaargh! I scre-med when I opened my eyes and met with Kendrick’s blazing eyes that’s moved so close to my face.

Are you surprised? No scared? Now listen to the punishment imma give yo… He was saying but paused when we heard an announcement made by one of the judges.

There was a mix up in the calculation of the result, and our school happened to emerge the third position.

Wow! I can’t believe you have God watching your back. Leave now and never let me see your face again!!!! He shouted and I ran out immediately he set me free.

I composed myself in order to avoid questions from my colleagues.

“I got to the classroom and met everyone jubilating. It’s really good to have escaped disqualification” I thought.

“Girl what’s up, what did he do to you” my friends asked but I ignored them and went to my seat instead.

“I’ll be coming home with your brother on Sunday” mom’s message popped up on my phone screen and I smiled. “That’s bitch would be gone in few days time at least” I thought and gave my friends the gist.

“Hmmn! This tates so delicious” I said as I munched the pizza I ordered when I got back from school.

“Mtcheeeew” I hissed loudly when I saw Stephanie alighting from the school bus looking as tired as ever. That serves her tight tho.

“I still can’t believe Kendrick almost dealt with me because of her. Imma definitely make life miserable for her within the few days she has left to spend with us” I thought and smirked as she moved closer to the house.

“Ooops! Sorry slave” I apologized with the intention of taunting her for emptying the wh0le juice content I have in my glass cup on her.

I shot the security guard a glare when I saw him watching me and he composed himself.

Hey slave! Mom will be returning with my brother in four days time, so I want you to get your ass hope and go start with the cleaning and arrangement of his room… I said as I saw her about to take some rest

Wow! that’s a good news, but please I need to sleep for some time, I’m really tired. I’ll start when i wake up or tomorrow probably, Since I have three days to prepare ahead of their arrival. And besides, I’ve been asked to take the remaining two days off at school… She replied

“Wait a minute! Did you just refuse to obey my order? Urgh, you gotta be Kidding me” I said and went to her bathroom.

You’re very stupid for disobeying me. Now get up before I do something worse than the water I just poured on you!!! I yelled and she obliged immediately

“Good for nothing imbecile” I cursed as she walked away reluctantly.

🌺Stephanie’s POV🌺
Now that her mom will be back next tomorrow, what would be my fate? Will I be back on the street? Where will I be staying for shelter, is that how my education would end so suddenly? I thought as I sat on the floor in my room.

I counted the money I’ve been able to gather ever since I’ve been working here and I’m glad I was able to save the total sum of Sixty thousand naira (#60000).

I took five thousand and decided to go open a bank account for the safety of my money since I don’t know where I’ll be living and it won’t be safe if I take my money with me everywhere.

I kept the remaining money back into the safe I keep it and said some prayers not to be seen by that witch.

I tiptoed out of my room and locked the door quietly. I scanned the wh0le sitting room and sighed when I didn’t see her.

“Please open the gate quickly” o said to the gatekeeper at the same time watching my back to see if she’s coming or not.

Please I need to be somewhere, I’ll be back very soon… I said to him and ran off.

I walked out of the estate and boarded a taxi to the nearest bank.

“Excuse me ma’am, I’d like to open an account” I said to the cashier and she directed me to where I’m gonna do it.

I didn’t even know I’d have to fill a phone number and a passport photograph of me is also needed.

Excuse me sir, please keep this for me, I’ll be right back… I said to one of the security guards I met there.

without waiting for his response, I ran back to a Sim registration center and a photo studio to take some shots for my passport photograph.

Your Bank verification and account number will be forwarded to your number in few days time… The bank personnel said after going through every details I filled in the form given to me.

I’ll have to buy a small phone at least to get the message when they forward it. I thought as I walked out of the bank.

“Please, I need a phone that has the lowest price out of all these” I said to the guy i met outside a phone shop not even knowing if he’s the seller or not.

Alright! That’d be itel, it costs three thousand naira (#35000) the final price is three thousand, three hundred naira # 3300 he said.

Are you sure it’s okay, like it’d last long if I start using it? I asked.

Of course it will, I don’t sell fake products… He replied smiling.

“Which trader wouldn’t advertise his or her goods very well. Pack it for me and have your money” I said

Wow! I can’t believe I now own a phone I got with my hærd earned money, even though it’s a small one… I said admiring the phone as it finished booting.

“Too bad, I don’t have anyone to call with it” I said sadly

I should have a little time to myself before going back to that hell of a house… I thought and stood at a s₱0t to think of a place I could go to.

Yes! The playground… I exclaimed as a thought came to my mind.

I don’t need you… I said as I threw the phone carton away into a trash can I saw at the entrance of the play ground.

“Wow! I love children, how I wish I have a lil siblings to play with” I said to myself as I admired the children playing happily..

“Ouch! this is too cold’ I gro-ned as the cold drink caused pain on my teeth.

I guess you should’ve asked for a normal one instead… I heard someone say and looked back, only for me to find Kendrick staring at me.

Oh! I’m sorry, I have to leave… I said and gave a slight bow before turning to leave.

Do you hate me that much? He asked and I stopped walking.

“Of course I don’t” I replied quickly and turned to leave but he stopped me again when he asked ” Why are you pretending to have a memory loss”
