After making up my mind to sign up for the competition, the next step is to persuade Shanaya and Tori to agree with me.
” please shany! You have to help me, I have to do this ”
I said after series of pleading, Shanaya’s facial expression didn’t change a bit
” Shany you know I’m going to register for this competition, do you want me to get hurt ”
” Erica please stop disturbing her”
Tori said
” Tori, you’re going to register too! ”
I said and Tori shakes her head vehemently
” I’m not going on a death’s mission and besides I can’t even dance ”
She said
Shanaya picks up her pen and scribbled in her neat handwriting
‘ I can’t dance ‘
It hadn’t even occured to me that the three of us are not even good at dancing,
we’re only going to embarrass ourselves
” please Shany, please Tori, you guys are the only ones I can rely on, I’m not good at dancing too but I’m prepared to learn, those mean girls, they hurt people, they deserved to be taught a lesson and I count on you to help me achieve that Shanaya ”
Shanaya’s eyes softened a bit and she wrote again
‘alright I’ll do it’
I read the words and smiled while Tori’s face paled

” oh no Shanaya I can’t believe you agreed with Erica! ”
” you have no choice than to agree with me too, 💁, but how are we going to get a fourth person ”
Tori’s eyes scanned the class and her gaze fell upon Sasha as she was just entering the class
” you can ask her ”
I don’t know if she heard what Tori said because she approached us, she looked at me a bit warily before clearing her throat and talking
” um Erica, I want to register for the dream girl competition and I was wondering if you guys would want to join too, I know you said you can never forgive me but please don’t think about anything I might have done to you in the past, just believe the fact that I’m a changed person ”
She said blurting the words out in a rush
” no! I don’t want to have anything to do with you ”
I said flatly
” but Erica you said…
Tori said and I cut her off
” and one more thing, I’ve forgiven you already what I can’t do is to forget, the truth is that I’m also intending to participate in the competition but I’ll rather team up with anyone else than you ”
Sasha’s face turned sour, she was about to say something else but it felt like the wind was knocked out of my chest as I saw him enter into the class, Keith Merrick.
I had no idea how much I’ve missed seeing him until I saw him, he has lost weight a bit, even Sasha couldn’t stop staring at him, her eyes portrayed this longing but it was quickly hidden by those luminous brown eyes.
My first instinct was to dash across to him and hug him tightly, telling him how much I’ve missed seeing him, but I quickly remember how he told me to move on, such extravagant display of affection wouldn’t show that I’ve moved on , would it?
Have I even moved on?
Am I even sure if Keith really said I should move on?
Oh shit? I’m just spitting nonsense
But all the same, I’m glad that he has solved whatever family issue he might have had and he’s back in school.
His gaze on me didn’t last for five seconds and he walked wordlessly to his seat.
I was even more surprised when Sasha walked over to him and he gave her one of his rarest smiles
WTF
I thought he hates her!
The two of them were engrossed in a conversation and it unsettled me a bit.

Keith couldn’t stop staring at Erica but he did it in a way that she didn’t find out, his eyes was glued to her, his dark expressive eyes betraying his emotions, it hurts me, seeing him completely enamored by her.
It was obvious that he feels nothing for me and if I want to move on, I have to completely let him go, no matter how much it hurts
I went to his seat and sat beside him, he raised his head up from the book he was reading and acknowledged me with a smile and I couldn’t help smiling back
His smile was so addicting.
Keith doesnt have a seat partner, I used to be his seat partner right from kindergarten to junior secondary school, sometimes I often wondered if I had something to do with his refusal to have a seat partner.
I didn’t know how long I sat beside him wordlessly without uttering a word
” why do you do that very often ”
He said and I snapped out of my thoughts, it really hurts to know that Erica still doesn’t trust me a bit
” what? ”
I said with a frown
” the lines on your forehead, it shows whenever you’re thinking a lot and then you pout your l-ips just like you’re doing right now and I think it’s kinda cute ”

My face flushed but from his straight face, I can’t even tell if he’s complimenting or not
” um I’m just thinking about a lot of things I guess ”
I said desperately hoping that I don’t sound as flustered as I feel
” what kind of things ”
” I want to register for the dream girl competition ”
His facial expression changed immediately and I’m surprised at the alarm written clearly on his face
” Sasha! You can’t sign up for that competition!! It’s too risky!!!
” you can’t understand Keith, I have to do it ”
” why? Is it because of the money, your parents are rich, and if it’s about the fame, at least everyone in the school knows you ”

It was either a good one or a bad one
And mine was the bad one

They were guys that would even swear that they have slept with me, those things had never bothered me before but now I’m supposed at how much it does
” it isn’t because of the fame or the money, it’s because of an entirely different reason ”

” yeah it was something I didn’t believe you could do, I knew you’ve changed but I had no idea you changed to that extent ”

I did it because I was a fool and I thought if I try to come between you that you would be mine but I was wrong.
But I couldn’t bear to say it
” I’ve changed for good now Keith but the thing is that Erica never forgived me and I have the feeling that this competition would bring us together ”
The alarm on his face intensified
” Erica wants to participate too!!! ”
” yeah she does ”
” oh no! ”
” about Erica, Keith, I think you should talk to her, I’ve seen the way you were looking at her, if you guys continue staring at each other in silence, you wouldn’t achieve anything, talk to her and explain to her ”
” I will and the Two of you shouldn’t think of registering for that competition ”
” I’m afraid nothing can change Erica’s mind but why don’t you tell her by yourself and tell her how you feel about her ”
I stood up, determined to leave his seat before I reveal how hurt I feel, he held my wrist, his touch was as light as a feather, his hypnotizing eyes staring deep into mine
” thank you Sasha….for everything ”

” Erica you know the deadline is tomorrow and Sasha is the only person that’s crazy enough in this school to join us”
Tori nagged
I had tried convincing almost all the girls in the school to join our team but all of them refused.
Gosh!
Why would I be forced to have anything to do with Sasha
I don’t just trust her anymore
But in this case she seems like my only option
” I’ll tell her I’ve changed my mind ”
Tori exhaled in relief
” at least there will be someone that knows how to dance among us ”
” Sasha can dance? ”
” yeah, she’s extremely good at it, I saw her pictures in one of the old school magazines I stumbled upon, she started leading the school’s choreography since she was little ”

I just pray i don’t regret my decision to trust her.

I talked to Sasha and the four of us came into an agreement, we were going to be a team but the only thing that binds us to Sasha is this competition, after that there’s no other relationsh¡p between us and she agreed
We all went to somewhere quiet at break for our discussion
” there are going to be rules and this rule is for you Sasha, you can’t afford to scheme against any of us, once you do, you’ll be kicked out of the team ”
She nodded her head
” and you Tori, dulling isn’t allowed, it’s not that one foolish girl will insult you and you’ll start crying Mumu cry ”
” but those awful words actually hurts ”
Tori protested
” I’ve told you countless times, when someone insults you, you kick their ass, and Shanaya, this rule is for you, no matter how angry you are, do not use your powers to hurt anyone of us ”
She nodded slightly
” and this rule is for you Erica
Tori said
” me ”
” yes you! Do not hit anyone of us, even if she insults you, do not use violence ”
She said gesturing at Sasha
Fair enough
” so we go for the registration today ”
Sasha concluded
After we dispersed, I searched everywhere for Viktor and I couldn’t find him, I was almost worried about him, the last time I saw him, he was lying down on the floor immobile, it was until I asked from one of his friends,
” um Quentin, is Vikky um Viktor in school ”
He grinned sheepishly at me
” yeah he is, he is hiding in the basket ball room, but don’t tell him I told you oh ”
I high fived him.
” I won’t, thanks jare ”
I headed to the basketball ball court , dragging Shanaya along with me.
” Shanaya I need your help with something, you see um Viktor lied to me and I want to make him pay
Her eyes turned dark
” calm down Shany, calm down! I’m not saying you should kill him you see if I decide to beat him up, I would hurt my self too, but what you did to him the other day, how he kinda fainted, I want you to do it again ”
I and Shanaya headed to the basketball court and I met Viktor sitting morosely on one of the chairs he had an egg in his hands and he was examining it with a frown
His eyes w¡dened as he saw me and Shanaya
” Erica! I know I lied but please I… I… I… Can explain…
Shanaya didn’t even allow him to explain and he dropped down on the floor into a deep soundlessly sleep.
I crouched beside him, running my face around his smooth handsome face
The memories were too much

I brought out the brand new razor blade, soap and water from my bag
I run my hands through his hair, it’s always perfectly styled, it’s low but the his hair has natural sport waves
I won’t hit you Viktor but what I’m about to do will hurt you more
I applied soap and water to his hair and began to shave off his hair, combining all my anger as I shaved, by the time I was done his head was as smooth as a ball, I brought out anointing oil from my bag and rubbed it on his head
The rays of the sun reflected on it and I could swear that I can almost see my reflection on it.
I’m surprised how Viktor changed immediately I scraped his hair

how I wish I can see the expression on his face as soon as he wakes up .
I dusted my skirts, clearing up all the hair and I and Shanaya stood up to leeave, I got to the entrance of our class and I was stopped by Keith
” Erica, we need to talk ”
