đ¤´episode 1 đ¤´
Another session at school Iâve always hated school since I was young. Not because I was bullied. I really hate not being able to show my true self. Always pretending to be a shy and timid girl. Not that I choose to be but my mom told me to do so. Just to stay out of trouble but it never worked anyway. In fact, it got worse. A ball hit my head.
âAwwwâ. I gave a low cry.
âYou should watch where youâre heading toâ. One boy shouted and took the ball.
âReally? Itâs you who should watch where youâre aiming atâ. I mumbled.
âWhat did you sayâ? He asked.
âNothing. Iâll watch out next timeâ. I left. Iâve always been the brave and charming girl but thatâs just my inner self.
âBeliaâ. Ivy came out of nowhere and took my hand. âYou came. I thought you wouldnâtâ. Out of everyone, only Ivy understands me best.
âAnd here Iâm. Letâs go of meâ.
âAre you in a bad mood? What happened to your headâ?
âItâs nothingâ. We entered the class and took our seat.
âSo good to be in our final yearâ. She smiled.
âEveryoneâs talking about college. So where do you plan on goingâ? Ivy asked.
âFarmingâ. I brought out my books.
âFarming? Come on, cut the jokes. Tell me exactly where youâre goingâ.
âDo Iâve to tell you everythingâ?
âI guess youâre in a bad moodâ. The teacher entered and everyone scurried back to their seat but her gaze was fixed on the big writing on the board. It says âGO TO HELL TEACHERâ. The boys must have written it for they love to cause trouble.
âWho wrote thisâ? The teacher asked but no one dare to answer. âIâll ask once again. Who wrote thisâ? We were all silent. âWow! What a good cooperation but you know what, youâre all failing this classâ.
âWhat? No wayâ. We all murmured.
âThen you just have to pick out the culprit. Iâm sure one of you did itâ. She looked at us all. âSo whoâs itâ? We were all silent until a voice shouted.
âItâs Beliaâ.
âWhatâ! I exclaimed. It was no one than Alison. That girlâs a crap. Sheâd always hated me and I donât even know why. Well, I never liked her to begin with. âLook Alison, this isnât the time to joke. I didnât write itâ.
âItâs herâ. She pointed at me. âI saw her writing itâ.
âThatâs a lie. I didnâtâ.
âYeah she did notâ. Ivy defended me. âShe was with me all this whileâ.
âWell, who knows? Maybe you both did itâ.
âWhat do_____â.
âThatâs fineâ. The teacher cut in. âBelia, go to the library and dust all the books. Thatâs your punishmentâ.
âAll the books? But I didnât__â.
âIâm sure you heard that right. Now leaveâ.
âFineâ. I stared hĂŚrd at Alison and she looked away. I swear youâll pay for this. I left the class.
I entered the library. Some students whoâd no class were busy reading. I took the duster and start to dust the books. Dust filled my nose and I started sneezing.
âYouâre going to pay for this Alisonâ. I kicked at the bookshelves angrily and a book fell from it. I bend and picked it up. The title looks quite catchy. âBRIDE OF THE SEVEN godsâ. I checked the author name. It says T.O.M. âSounds interestingâ. I found a quite place to seat. I opened the book to read when something suddenly hit my head and I passed out.
âAwwwâ. I sat upright rubbing the back of my head. âI guess this is truly a bad day for meâ. I opened my eyes only to find myself in a strange place. âWhereâs this placeâ? I got up and looked around. âWhat am I doing here? How did I even end up hereâ? My attention averted to my clothes. It was all different. I was wearing a traditional silk robe. âWhy am I wearing this and where on earth is this placeâ? I panicked.
âThere sheâs. Catch her. Catch the thiefâ. Group of people came running towards me.
âWhat? Meâ? I made to run but they got hold of me. âLet me goâ. I struggled with them.
âIsnât she Minister Zhaoâs daughterâ?
âYes sheâsâ.
âIsnât this her third time stealing? What a shameâ.
âLetâs take her to her fatherâ. They grabbed me along. Just what on earth is happening right now? Am I in some kind of dream?
They all stopped in front of a house which Iâm sure to be Minister Zhaoâs. Perhaps, he might know how I got here. A man got out from the house wearing a frown. He was wearing a traditional silk robe.
âWhatâs this entire ruckus aboutâ?
âYour daughter bought something from my stall and refused to pay for it. This is her fourth timeâ. The man shot me an angry look. Oh Lord. I pray I should wake up from this dream any sooner.
âIs this enoughâ. Minister Zhao threw a pouch of money at the young man. The young man smiled happily. âNow letâs go of herâ.
âSureâ. They released me. âEveryone letâs goâ. They all left.
âFollow meâ. He walked back in,side the house and I followed. The maids greeted as we entered. âTake the young Ms and beat her twenty strokes of caneâ.
âWhatâ! I exclaimed.
âYes sireâ. They walked over to me and held my hands.
âDonât you dare touch me? Letâs go of me. Let me go. Hey mister. I think you got the wrong girl. Iâm not your daughter. Iâm Beliaâ.
âHow dare you speak backâ? A woman came out of nowhere. She was heavily adorned. OMG. Isnât that a golden hairpin? It really is. My eyes canât deceive me. âSuch an insolent child. Youâre just like your stupid motherâ.
âThatâs okayâ. The man cut in. âDouble her punishmentâ. He said and walked away.
My butts were all sore from those numerous beating. How can I feel the pain when Iâm in a dream? Or this is not a dream? Did I die or something? I was clearly sure that something hit my head at the library but I donât know what it was.
âAwwwâ. I cried out rubbing my butts. âSo painful. The afterlife is so painfulâ. âSisterâ. A girl voice called from outside. âCan I come inâ?
âHuhâŚâŚ.sureâ. She entered. Her face was smooth, small and round. She looks so cute. How can someone be this cute? She sat in front of me.
âHereâ. She put a small jade pot on the table.âApply it on your wound. Do not let mother sees it. I stole it from her chamberâ.
âOhâ! I looked at her. âThanksâ. I smiled. âHow old are youâ? I asked.
âFourteenâ.
âNo wonder why youâre so cuteâ.
âWhy do you ask? You knew my age from the startâ.
âIâŚâŚ..I was just curious you knowâ. I faked a laugh to keep her from any suspicion. I caught a glimpse of my face in the mirror but something was different.
âFather is planning on marrying you offâ. She said.
âMarriage? I? Iâm not even done with high schoolâ.
âHigh school? Whatâs thatâ? She asked.
âHigh school. You know middle school. You go to high school before going to collegeâ. She looked at me with confusion written over her face. I tried to explain to her then I clearly remember that I was still in a dream or should I say afterlife. âCan I ask you somethingâ?
âSureâ.
âAm I dead? I mean is this the afterlife? Iâve always have a better imagination of the afterlife. So I was thinking maybe I died and ended up becoming your sister. Right? Is that itâ?
âIâŚâŚ.I donât understandâ.
âNever mind. I guess this is all a dreamâ.
âZanilliaâ. A male voice called from outside.âAre you asleepâ?
âFatherâs hereâ. The girl stood up. But whoâs
Zanillia anyway?
âAre you asleepâ?
âAnswer him sisterâ. She urged me.
âMe…oh. No, Iâm not asleep. You can come inâ. He entered.
âYouâre also hereâ. He looked over to the girl. âI would like to talk with your sister privatelyâ. He sat.
âSureâ. She bowed slightly and left.
âYouâve changed so muchâ. He began.âYour mother left you when you where just a week old. I did send her away in order to save both of you. Your stepmother was bent on killing both of you. So I made the decision to let her go. You must have suffered a lot. I know the reason why you stole. The punishment was only to keep your stepmother away from mal-treating you but I blamed myself for not giving you the love, care and attention you deserved. To make up for it, Iâve decided to send you off to the seven realms. Perchance, you might end up marrying the legendary lord. Iâve put down your name among the candidates to be selected. Maybe, you might find happiness over there. So, I guess this is farewell for both of usâ.
âYeah. I guess soâ.
âI just want you to know that I love you and Iâll always doâ. He got up. âIâve told the maids to prepare your luggage so you donât have to worryâ. He left. Seems like I would be stuck here for some time. Neither phone nor WIFI. My instagram. My WECHAT. My face book. My Weibo account.
âOh noâ. I cried. âI want to wake up from this dreamâ. Oh yeah. That reminds me. I crawled to the front of the mirror only to meet the shocking moment of my life. A different face stared at me. âWhoâs thisâ?
