“Yes, I’m a wood chopper but I’m not crushing on my teacher and planning to have another session of masturbation in the rest room today.” Crucifix blows hot in his first day at school!

His words rang like a bell, sending all the students in the classroom and Mr Henry to their oblivion. Not a single sound from a chair made its way to the air. All eyes were fixed on him; even Rose the initiator of the mockery suddenly went dumb. Whoa, looking at their faces, Crucifix didn’t need to read their minds anymore because only one thing was going through there: like how the hell… Where the hell did those words come from?? 🤔 Yes, they could only guess where it came from; Lucy, a female student who made the last mockery and was replied by Crucifix. Therefore, the suspenseful gaze at Crucifix in the classroom gradually deviated to the poor girl. But everybody was still trying to get the bearing, the statistics, the possibility of how true Crucifix’ statement was. At the same time, different questions ran through their minds: was Lucy really crushing on Mr Henry and planning to masturbate in the rest room? Did she tell Crucifix about it? Like how did a new and worthless student called Crucifix know her dirty plans? No, the statement was too real to be false and was too critical to be analyzed thereby causing more confusion and messing with the students’ brains.

However, Lucy had frozen like a pile of chicken in a deep freezer. She was a young ebony girl who weaved her hair with shinny ear-ings sparkling on her ears. She wore a short flexible skirt that exposed part of her thighs. On her feet were a pair of clean canvases. She became embarrassed by the eyes her classmates were looking at her. She had not recovered from the shock, wondering about the remarkable accuracy of Crucifix’ statement about her thought which he publicly narrated. But she never told him. How did he know?!! Damn! she wished the ground opens and swallows her.

“Crucifix!” Mr. Henry’s voice became the next thing the air carried. “What was that? What… Where.. Like have you met Lucy before? Where did such abhorrent and objectionable statement come from?”

Yes, Crucifix, where did it come from? Tell them, tell them that you’re a mind reader and have your butt kicked out from the school. If the principal doesn’t do it, your grandfather will never hesitate to, then you bid farewell to Education once again. Nevertheless, he looked up at the teacher and said, “It came from… from… from…” he swallowed hærd. Was he trying to say the truth? Oh, no! Don’t do it Crucifix!

Meanwhile, the students grew impatient, they were so curious that they wished they could force the remaining words out of his mouth. Already, Lucy’s soul was about living her body.

“It’s from where?” the teacher was still inquisitive.

“It’s from nowhere, sir” Crucifix replied and directed his eyes to the students especially Lucy. “No matter how accusing and abhorrent my words might have been, it meant nothing. I was only trying to get you all attention with it. Wait, did you all actually take it seriously?” He chuckled. “Gush, i barely even know her. Also wanted to use that to make her feel what I felt when she was making mockery of me. Nobody deserves humiliation and embarrassment.”

Bravo! He nailed it! he had given them a reason to rest on the back-rest of their chairs. They actually bought the fabricated lie. But to Lucy, Crucifix was damn right about her.

“So, I’m Crucifix Odinaka from Olunpia High School. I left there months ago after we relocated to town Umm.. I love drawing and… and I chop woods for a living.” he smiled while everybody giggled except Lucy.

“You may now take your seat, Cross.” Mr. Henry ordered.

Walking to one of the seats, the young boy felt like a celebrity to see them still giggling at his last words, even Margret of all people kept grinning from ear to ear. That gave him some hope. Immediately he sat down beside the homos–xual, Lucy angrily left the classroom even after the teacher wanted to restrain her. That caused a stare and made Crucifix to feel bad. Only then did he realize that going into people’s minds with his ability was like preying into their privacy just like using the window instead of the door. You know what I’m talking about.😊

It was noon, a break period in Kenny High. Crucifix was yet to discover how popular he had become within some hours in the school. He walked through a long passage to see students hanging around with their best of friends and lovers. Some were at their lockers while some hurried up and down a staircase with books in their hands. Many were looking at him and giggling offensively.

“He’s the wood chopper.” They rumoured mockingly, making the young boy feel lesser than anyone in the school. They tweeted him on the internet. That was how everyone got to know his laughable features.

Nevertheless, he paid deaf ear to them, adopting his grandfather’s advice about ignoring people’s opinions.. The fact is that Crucifix really wanted to make things better for himself and live a normal life but he always found himself sabotaging it, causing more harm than good to himself as if it was a curse.

“Hey, are you the new student?” A female voice from behind stopped Crucifix. Wow, who wanted to talk to a common and local Crucifix? The boy wondered and was excited to know, so he turned to see an average woman. Oh, it wasn’t a student. Sad. It was Mrs. Arida, a black and plumpy short teacher.

“Yes, ma’am. I’m Crucifix…”

Mrs Arida interrupted him by looking away to a boy at a locker. “Emmanuel, come show… uhmm… Crucifix around the school.” she called the boy and began walking again. “Have a nice day, Cross.” she concluded.

That was the first care and love someone showed him. Just that it came from a teacher not a student. But Crucifix didn’t mind, he was happy. Sarcastically, Emmanuel hit his shoulder and said, “Let’s have some tour, dude.”

Crucifix followed him as both walked side by side. Emmanuel was way taller and more neat than him.

“So dude, you’re trending really hærd on the school media. Why?” Emmanuel seemed friendly.

“I’m surprise you still ask me why.” Crucifix replied.

“Like seriously you chop woods for a living?”

“I still don’t see why it’s a big deal.”

“You don’t?” Emmanuel chuckled. “Just look at yourself and look around. Here, we keep high profile and it should show in your appearance otherwise you won’t get the attention you want especially from girls.”

Crucifix glanced at himself then took a very good look at Emmanuel, then he understood and thought for a while. “What if the high profiles are fake?” he asked.

“The possibility is very low, dude. Many of us have rich parents.” Emmanuel replied.

Crucifix remained quiet.

“Why are you in Kenny High by the way?” Emmanuel broke the silence again.

“Why?” Crucifix repeated. Should he tell him it’s because of a girl? No way! That would definitely sound odd. Smartly, he replied, “Should there be a reason why I’m here order than being educated?”

Emmanuel looked at him, smiling broadly. He was beginning to like him.”Well, many of us have.” he said, climbing a staircase.

“Really, like a girl?”

Hearing that, Emmanuel stopped, grinning amusingly. “You came here because of a girl?”

He shrugged. “I can only say I like girls. Not like all girls.. I mean I like… I like.. a girl.”

Emmanuel shook his head. “Good luck with that.” he began walking again.

“Good luck?” Crucifix hurriedly followed him. “Why wishing me luck? You don’t like girls?”

“I can only say i don’t have them at heart. Dude, that gender is full of drama.” he stopped and looked directly into his eyes. “They can build you and at the same time destroy you. Have I mentioned the part that they keep messing up with your brain?” He shook his head again and hurried away, living Crucifix standing and wondering.

The poor boy believed Emmanuel must have been speaking out of experience. “Is Margret messing up with my brain? Is she building me or destroying me?” he kept thinking. How would he possibility know when he hasn’t made his feelings known tot this girl?

“Crucifix!” Emmanuel called him from a distant, so he realized he was actually on a school tour. They visited the school library, workshop and labs.

The male rest room was sparkling clean and quiet. Crucifix needed to empty his bladder after the tour, so he walked in there, entered into one of the mini rooms where the pressure of his urine echoed in the whole rest room. Suddenly, two boys entered and were very loud that the sound of the urine vanished.

“Let me give you a line, dude” one of the boys began. “She said Margret has been receiving a warm gift from unknown person and she really wishes to meet the person.”

“You want me to claim to be the unknown person.?” another boy said.

“Bravo! From there you can have her all by yourself.”

“What if she doesn’t believe me?”

“She must. I have the list of all the things the idiot dropped for her.” he assured.

Holy shit! Stunned, Crucifix refused to come out from the room neither did he remember to return his d–k into his pant. He just left the innocent thing stranded in the cold dry room until the boys left. Quickly, he returned the d–k but forgot to zip up as he ran out of the rest room in search of Margret to explain his feelings to her before another scumbag takes his place. It was then or never!!

He rushed to the classroom but didn’t see her. Like a restless man whose wife is in labour, he ran out of the building, stood at a s₱0t, searching for her with his eye while his hands rested on his w–st. Oh, yes, he knew exactly where to get her: at Mary’s Restaurant. How did he forget that in a hurry?!! Briskly, he surged towards the school gate, but was stopped by a voice which called from behind. He turned to see Lucy aggressively approaching.

“I’m dead” he soliloquized.

Lucy finally approached and gave him a very hot slap.

“I deserve it and I’m still sorry about what I said. Please, slap me again. Hurry up about it because I have an urgent business to attend to.” he turned the other cheek for her.

Notwithstanding, Lucy slapped him again. “Why were you in my head!?” she asked with tears engulfing her eyes.

“Your head is literally a small place. I can’t be there?” Crucifix replied.

“You know what I’m talking about!”

“I have no idea. Wait, were you really planning…”

“Shut up!!” Another slap from Lucy interrupted him.

“Otch!” He exclaimed, rubbing his cheek. “Alright, I’m sorry. Like I said, I fabricated it. I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

“I think I do.” A male voice came beside him.

Crucifix turned to see a familiar face. “Jimmy?” he called.

“Flesh and blood!” the boy spread his hands.

Jeez! That was bad! Jimmy is one of the people Crucifix needed to run from. He’s literally one of the reasons he was expelled from his former school and taken away by his grandfather. Jimmy is a bully and he knows Crucifix secret of mind reading. What was he doing in Kenny High?! Gush! Big problem. Crucifix just hoped he doesn’t reveal his secret to Lucy. Just before he said anything, Emmanuel called him from a distant with his phone in his hand.

“Crucifix! Dude, what the heck is wrong with you!!” Emmanuel lamented while all attention went to him.

“There’s nothing wrong me, Emma?” Crucifix replied.

“Then why are you showing the whole world your d–k?! It’s all over the internet!” He showed him his picture on his phone where Crucifix stood with hands rested on his w–st while his zip was totally open. One could see the shape of his d–k through his male pant. Lucy saw it likewise Jimmy, so all averted their eyes from the phone to Crucifix’ trouser to see the zip still open. They started giggling except Emmanuel.

Apparently, Crucifix saw Margret coming out from the school building with a guy, probably with one of the boys he overheard in,side the rest room. Oh, no, it was already too late. What would he do now? Absolutely nothing!

Amazingly, Margret and the boy had totally taken Crucifix’ attention that he had not remembered to zip up his trousers. Emmanuel couldn’t believe his stupidity, so he said, “This boy has a problem?” he walked out.

Yes, Crucifix had a big problem both in his head and in the school even at home. He was a bag of problem not to anybody but to himself alone. 😂 A night before his first day at school, he caused a problem at Raina’s, he came to school and became a laughing stock and then someone was about to take his place in the heart of his crush, his love, his heartwarming dove, using his efforts, weeks of relentless efforts, risk and inconvenience he caused Raina. Aah, more big big problem….
