The Deal

“Who exactly are you?” Bryan asked again when Chloe couldn’t say a thing.
She had often wondered what she would say if some one finds out about her not being Valerie but what she didn’t think of is that she will be caught so soon.
“What do you mean by who I am ? If it’s a joke, I suggest you stop” Chloe said looking nervous even as she moved away from him.
He stood starring at her in silence and when his stare and silence became unbearable, she said….
“If you have nothing else to say then I will head back to class”
She turned to leave only for him to take hold of her hand and push her against the wall while he towered over her.
“You are not Valerie and I found that out yesterday ” he said slowly.
“What do you…..”
“Yesterday when I offered you a ride on my bike, you accepted straight away some thing the real Valerie will never do cause she once told me how scared she is of the bike and there is the ice cream, didn’t you find it odd that I ordered ice cream instead of a normal food?” He asked and when she said nothing he continued.
“Am allergic to mint and Valerie knows that but yesterday you were urging me to have it”
“There’s a perfect explanation for that” Chloe replied nervously.
“Then do tell me”
“Have got Amnesia and…..”
“I knew the Amnesia thing will be your excuse but the fact is you aren’t suffering from Amnesia and you don’t know anything about Valerie’s past life because you aren’t her” He said cutting her off abruptly.
“Let’s say I play along with you and consider you having an amnesia, what about the phone call I got from Valerie yesterday?” He asked which got looking at him.
“You got a call from Valerie?”
“Yesterday at the restaurant, remember I got a call. That was from Valerie” he replied.
“But that’s impossible and…..”
“Leaving that aside. The one thing I found out which got to believe that you aren’t Valerie is this…” He said pulling her shirt aside to reveal her shoulder.
“What are you doing?” She asked wanting to pull away but he held her back.
“Due to a bullying she received two months ago, she suffered a cut which left a scar on her shoulder but you don’t have one. So are you gonna tell me the truth or will you keep denying it?” He asked moving away from her while she pulled back her clothes.
The scar is the most implicating part, Carmen had also recognized her due to her not having the scar and Bryan also did the same.
She only wanted to help find Valerie’s murderer but she’s been caught by this jerk.
“Am still waiting ” Bryan said which got her starring at him.
“I…I am…..I ” she was still stuttering when the roof top door open revealing a student.
Seeing this as her chance, Chloe took her things and ran off before Bryan could stop her.
As soon as she was on the second floor, she stopped by the stairs recalling the whole thing he said.
“Am ruined” she yelled out in frustration earning the attention of the students who were passing by.
She took out her phone wanting to call Carmen while also getting down the stairs, she lost her footing and would have fallen if it hadn’t been for the person who pulled at her from behind.
She turn only to see an unfamiliar guy starring down at her with a smile on his face.
“You could have broken a bone or two” he said even as she stood on her own.
“Am sorry, I wasn’t paying attention” She replied.
“That’s you, not the attention paying girl. It’s a good thing you are back Valerie” He said addressing her by her fake me.
” Am sorry but I don’t recognize….”
“I heard you are suffering from Amnesia, so it’s only right that you don’t recognize me. Am Lucas, a close friend of Bryan, David and Luke” he introduced himself.
“Oh, nice meeting you but have got to go. See you later” Chloe said even as she dashed off while Lucas watched her go.

~ INFIRMARY ~
“Aren’t you going to come to class?” Judy asked Chloe who lay on the bed with her back turned to them.
“Am not!” She answered slowly.
Going back to class will get her to confront Bryan and she’s not ready for that and so the best thing she can do is to stay away from him and everything that has to do with him.
“Are you afraid of some one?” Mira who was also in the room asked.
“Of course not! Am not afraid of any one” Chloe replied even as she sat up.
“I think you are and that’s why you’ve lock yourself in the infirmary not wanting to go to class” Judy added.
“You girls should…..” She stop mid way when the door open revealing the excited Pearl.
“This is crazy! You girls have got to see this” Pearl said in excitement.
“See what?” Mira asked.
“Stop asking and come along” Pearl said pulling them one by one including Chloe.
A while later Chloe and her friends stood in front of the notice board with the other students.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” Chloe said starring at the names of people who have been grouped in their houses for the up coming sport festival.
“Judy, Valerie and I are in team alpha while Mira is in team Diamond ” Pearl said in excitement.
“Am sure this excitement of yours is only because Bryan and his friends are on your team” Mira said.
“Who wouldn’t be excited, don’t feel too sad. You have Leo and his friends on your team” Pearl replied poking her tongue at Mira.
“This sport thing is silly, they should put an end to it” Judy muttered.
“I echo that” Chloe added looking sad.
“Am I the only happy one here?” Pearl asked just as one of the teacher approached them.
“Some of you might bs disappointed in the house you were placed in while some will be excited but just do your best, one of the team will get to win and also don’t visit the staff room to ask for favours. It won’t be change and so Team Alpha, get to the school hall we’ve all got to talk. Tell the others that aren’t here” The teacher said walking off while some students followed him trying to get him to change the team they were in.

SCHOOL HALL
“Until when will you have that face mask on?” Judy asked Chloe who sat beside her amongst other students who were patiently waiting for their team instructor to arrive.
“I think I have a cold” Chloe muttered while she stared around looking for Bryan.
She only wanted to stay away from him, infact she was willing to switch class just to make that possible but life has to throw them in the same team.
This is when people tend to use the phrase ‘life is unfair’.
Just then the girls began to scream at the arrival of Bryan, David, Luke and Lucas.
“They are freaking hot!” Pearl said as her gaze was solely on David.
“It’s not like they are demi gods or some thing” Judy muttered while Chloe move close to Judy wanting to hide her self and it worked.
It worked during the time the teacher addressed them but he just had to pin point her out making her the centre of attraction.
“You will be participating in the marathon right?” The teacher asked.
“I don’t think so” Chloe replied while every one let out a groan.
“Participating in the marathon will give us a high score!” A students complained making the rest do the same.
Chloe gaze went to Bryan who was watching her in return and that stopped her from giving a reply.
“Let’s give her some breathing space, it’s not all the time that she gets to run the marathon for us” Judy said In her stead.
“It’s okay everyone, since Valerie can’t do it we will just have to find some one else but what I want to tell you is that Bryan here will be in charge of the training and all. So if you’ve got a problem or anything to say, feel free to go to Bryan and your message will get to me” the teacher said and it was the girls who let out a loud yes.
“I leave you to handle the rest” The teacher said to Bryan and his friends.
As soon as Chloe saw the teacher leaving, she quickly went with him using the rest room as an excuse.

VALERIE’S HOME
“What! She travelled and didn’t leave with her phone?” Chloe asked the maid who was telling her about the whereabout of Carmen.
“Yes. Each time she goes to the temple, she stays there for about two weeks and doesn’t take her phone along” the maid replied.
“And there’s no other way to contact her?” Chloe asked.
“There’s no way” the maid replied making her feel more depressed.
Chloe left the kitchen heading back to her room where she went straight to her bed and lay on it.
“What am I going to do?” She murmured.
She had been hoping to tell Carmen about her problem but with Carmen gone, she doesn’t know what to do.
Suddenly getting an idea, she picked up her phone and googled some thing on line.

★ JUST SEDUCE HIM, IT WILL KEEP HIM SHUT ★
“Are this people crazy?” Chloe muttered even as she put her phone away to lay comfortably on her bed once again.
Another message pop into her phone and reluctantly, she picked it up and read its content.
★ TRY TO MAKE HIM UNDERSTAND AND IF HE DOESN’T LISTEN, MAKE A DEAL WITH HIM ★ on reading this she sat up on her bed smiling to herself.
This is just what she needs, she thought already thinking of what deal to strike with him.

M&M ACADEMY ~ ROOF TOP
Chloe got to the roof top where she’s meant to meet Bryan and just like she expect he was waiting for her.
“I thought you were going to stand me up” he said
“Why would I do that when am the one who suggested for us to meet” she replied.
“So you aren’t ignoring me again?” He asked while she nodded.
“You are right, am not not the real Valerie. Am an imposter who is living her life but then I have my reason, a reason which I can’t tell you ” she said remembering the promise she made to Carmen not to say a thing to any one.
“Why can’t you tell me?” Bryan asked folding his arms while he waits for her answer.
“Cause it’s not for me to tell, it’s not up to me to tell you about it but it’s for a good cause. So if you would pretend not to know a thing and……”
“So what you are saying is that I help you hide your secret when you aren’t willing to tell me the reason for all this false?” He asked and she nodded quickly.
“It’s a no and I suggest you tell Valerie’s mom yourself or I will be doing it” Bryan said as he turned to leave but she took hold of his hand.
“Please! You need to keep this a secret” she said looking desperate.
“Must I? For you?” Bryan asked even as he pulled his hand out of hers.
“Not for me but for Valerie, the real Valerie” Chloe pleaded.
“I can’t do that and so I suggest you go and tell the truth before I do it myself” he said turning to leave again and quickly she went to obstruct his path.
“What if I…..what if I join the marathon? If I end up winning will that change your mind ?” She suggested……
