Chapter 91 :- Infiltration

As soon as the sun begins to descend into the clouds, Ibadan was quickly shrouded in a chilling sinister darkness giving way for Evlyn’s followers to emerge from the shadows and wreck havoc. Unknown to some of the people of Ibadan who carried out their affairs at night, they roamed about freely not knowing that evil had taken control of the night and that their very lives were at stake.
Meanwhile somewhere in some suburban part of Ibadan, Riley who was tasked with the protection of lives and property roamed about teleporting from one street to another making sure that nothing strange was going on. However, he wasn’t the only one doing that, there were also few number of wizards and witches who were also keeping watch as well but despite their vigilance, nothing could have prepared them for what was about to happen to next.

Floating in the cool night sky of Ibadan is Evlyn who watches from above the activities that was going on in the city, she also senses the magic essence of the witches and wizards roaming about looking for her and her followers. Then all of a sudden, she bursts out into a mean vicious laughter and then quickly keeps quiet looking angry and pissed as she lashes out curses.

Evlyn ➡ Miserable fools!!! Traitorous cowards!! How dare they protect those worthless worms when they should be tormenting them? No matter. Nothing they do can stop what I’m about to bring into this world.
With my new found powers, I’m going to exterminate all the humans in this new era and put back things as they were and as for those who try to protect them will suffer in my hand. Let me show them a small taste of what’s to come.

After that dreading statement, Evlyn stretches out her right hand into the air and begins to whisper some strange incomprehensible words and whilst that was going on, some kind of a black matter emerges from the palm of her hand hovering underneath it. Seconds later, the black matter disintegrates into thin air and immediately after that, all the lights in Ibadan/Oyo disappears instantly leaving the city in a state of pitch black darkness and disarray.
Meanwhile here inside Riley’s household, Ebinoluwa and the others who were done preparing themselves were about to head out when the effect of Evlyn’s magic reached them. The whole house was completely dark making everyone inside to lament wondering what had happened.

Riley Jr ➡ Nepa, don carry light o.

Morenike ➡ AHH! What is this now?
.

Robin ➡ Look at how dark this place is.
.

Onuya ➡ Well, I like it this way. So peaceful and quiet.
.

Morenike ➡ Abeg not everyone is like you.
.

Chris ➡ Calm down, It’s just a normal thing.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Not in this house. Our lights have never gone off. Our electricity has been stable for a decade now.
.

Chris ➡ Mbanu!!! Wait.. Hold on a minute!!! I’ve never seen any wirings in your premises not to mention that you’re far away from the rest of the neighborhood. Do you guys use Solar?
.

Riley ➡ Solar ko?! Tani nilo onirin? Werey!
.

Morenike ➡ Junior! Ti mo ba na yin eh!!… (If I slap you ehn?)
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Well, this is strange and I don’t like it.
.

Hadiza ➡ You think something is wrong?
.

Morenike ➡ Something is definitely wrong! Our electricity runs on magic.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Well, someone should bring out his/her phone so that we can see.
.

Robin ➡ I have my phone with me. Let me turn it on…… Ah-ah..
.

Hadiza ➡ What’s wrong?
.

Robin ➡ My phone.. It won’t turn on, something that I charged full hours ago.
.

Riley Jr ➡ China product!!!
.

Robin ➡ China product kill you there. If I catch you ehn?
.

Chris ➡ Let me bring out mine… (Chuckles) See wahala o.
.

Morenike ➡ Your phone is not working!?
.

Chris ➡ Yes. It was on before the lights went out. You’re wrong, something is definitely wrong.
.

As the others were busy chattering, Ebinoluwa creates a ball of magical light that brightens the whole house like Christmas light. After that, she stands still for a while thinking about what had happened to their lights and it didn’t take long before she had a realization.
However before Ebinoluwa could say anything to the others, she heads straight to the digital wall clock in the living and notices that it has stopped working. She pulls out her phone and tries to turn it on but nothing happened. Hadiza who had noticed Ebinoluwa’s silence and mood questions her if something is bothering her.

Hadiza ➡ Ebinoluwa, is something wrong?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Both Morenike and Robin’s phone are dead and our digital clock has stopped working. None of this is normal at all. Normally, the only thing that can make electrical and digital devices stop is an EMP but that kind of technology doesn’t exist in this country so it’s safe to say that magic is behind this.
.

Morenike ➡ So who do you think it’s behind this?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Evlyn of course!!
.

Chris ➡ She’s trying to blind us. Without electricity or technology, there will be no communication.
.

Onuya ➡ Speak for yourself. We supernatural beings don’t rely on technology like you humans. She must have done this to cause disarray amongst your kind.
.

Robin ➡ It still doesn’t make any sense. Evlyn probably knows that she’s been hunted but why would she do something that would only affect the humans?
.

Hadiza ➡ Maybe she’s trying to create a distraction.
.

Onuya ➡ Seriously? A distraction?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Wait.. Hadiza’s right.. This is a distraction. In the darkness, people will be helpless but the distraction aren’t the people… Oh Jesus…
.

Chris ➡ What?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ I know what Evlyn’s planning.. She’s…..
.

Before Ebinoluwa could finish her statement, a number loud roars echoed the atmosphere which was soon followed by a steady rumbling. In that moment, Ebinoluwa and the others step outside to see what was going on and to their surprise, they seem something unbelievable.
Here just a few distance away from Ebinoluwa and her team is a horde of monsters with double heads and big eyes the size of an owl not to mention a large vertical mouth between their midsection.

Chris ➡ What in God’s name are these creatures?
.

Morenike ➡ They’re heading towards us.. What should we do?
.

Robin ➡ Stand back.. I’ve got this.
.

Chris ➡ What can you possibly do?
.

Angered by Chris’s words, Robin steps forward and twists his neck, stretches his limbs and then exhales. As the monsters gets closer and closer, Robin takes his time and stares at them blankly as if they were nothing and just as they were about to get close, Robin takes a long breath and then unleashes his magic on them.
.

Robin ➡…….. Explode!!!
.

Within a blink of an eye, the monsters explode to pieces all over the premise making a mess. Chris who was astounded by what had happened realized how dangerous Robin was and how careful he should approach him in the future.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Omo..
.

Onuya ➡ So this is your magic?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Don’t get excited yet.. It’s not over. There are more coming. LOOK!
.

Just as Ebinoluwa had said more monsters came out of nowhere heading towards them in great speed. Robin who had tried to use his magic again felt weak and tired all of a sudden.
.

Hadiza ➡ Robin. What’s wrong?
.

Robin ➡ My magic.. It’s like..
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Your magic is depleted. You need to rest and recover.
.

Morenike ➡ But something like this has never happened before.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ That’s because he has never used his magic to this extent before. I’ll handle this myself. These monsters are made out of magic and I know just the thing to use to get rid of them. Everyone step back and close your eyes.

💢 RILEY 💢

Everything was okay when I started this new task of mine. As I roamed and teleported through the streets of Ibadan, all was fine and there was nothing weird going on but then all of sudden, things started to get really strange.
First, there was the total blackout that suddenly occured putting Ibadan in an void of darkness and then there was the restlessness caused by the blackout. Cars weren’t moving and communication devices were dead, every activity in Ibadan had stopped shortly after the blackout and it wasn’t long that before things started to get real crazy.

Immediately after the blackout, some of the people especially hoodlums started to do all sorts of reckless and dangerous things like theft, burglary, bullying and physical assaults but before these things could escalate, something or rather someone appeared and made things far worst.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a loud screeching scream was heard and it echoed the atmosphere sending out a very chilling vibe not to mention it was filled with Evil. Everyone especially the people froze with fear as they heard that sound but what came next was beyond fear, it was a horror. In that very moment, something zipped through the air like a bullet, it was so fast that all I could hear was the whooshing sound but I could feel the sinister aura in the air. Seconds later, the same thing zipped through the air again but this time I caught a glimpse of it. It was a winged creature with humanoid shape but it wasn’t human neither was it a witch, it was something different.

Seeing how fast this thing was, I prepared myself and became cautious for any incoming surprises and just as I anticipated, the winged creature swooped down from the sky and headed straight to the people on the street holding some kind of shiny artifact. I was thinking that the creature would cause a massacre but to my surprise, the souls of the people fled from their bodies and went straight into the artifact the creature was wearing around it’s neck. After that, the creature flew up leaving hundreds of bodies lying in it’s way. The witches and wizards who saw what happened went to action to stop this creature but before they could unleash some kind of spell, the creature zipped past over their heads and they too met the same fate as the people lying on the streets. Everything was over in an instant and seeing that I was the only one left, I decided to fight out something.
In that moment, the creature appeared from the sky and stood a few distance away from me flapping it’s wings. This time around I got a full view of what the creature looked like. It had no hair on it’s skin and the skin itself was pale white like that of a rotting corpse. The creature also had a humanoid form and it was female but it’s physical appearance was just too…. Urgh!!!

Winged creature ➡ You smell different! What are you? (Sniff)
.

Riley ➡ I’m the one who’s going to put you down!
.

Winged creature ➡ (chuckles) YOU!? Haven’t you seen what I’ve done! You’re no match for me. Once I’m done with you, I’ll fly over this city and finish my work.
.

Riley ➡ Not before I chop off your head.
.

Winged creature ➡ Your insolence infuriates me. YOUR TIME IS UP.
.

Immediately after that statement, the winged creature flapped her wings harder unleashing her feathers which came at me like bullets, I dodged quickly and then summoned a bow and arrow using the magic gloves that Christen’s father gave me. (Check season 3)
As soon as I was armed, I began to teleport around firing the arrows at the creature. Unlike the creature’s feathers, my arrows were faster and more destructive than hers. For a while, the winged creature and I fought all over Ibadan and just as I was finally about to pin an arrow in the creature’s head, something unexpected happened. Out of nowhere, a bright light emerged all of a sudden and brighten the whole city, I was nearly blinded by that light and that distraction gave the creature the opportunity to strike at me which she did.
Before I could figure out what was going on, my chest was pierced by creature’s feathers, it was like I was being stabbed by iron spikes. Just as I was about to be finished by the creature, the clothes which I wore became invisible and that bought me enough time to recover.

Winged creature ➡ YOU CANNOT HIDE!! Those feathers are laced with poison and since it’s magic, it will spread faster and kill you within minutes. YOUR FATE IS SEALED.
.

Riley ➡ I hate to break it to you but magic doesn’t work on me. I’m immune to it. As for my fate… It’s far from sealed.
.

Winged creature ➡ SHOW YOURSELF COWARD! I KILL YOU AND EAT YOUR HEART!! COME OUT AND FACE ME.
.

Riley ➡ Alright if you say so.
.

Unaware of the schemes, the creature began to fire her feathers aimlessly trying to draw me out, she hung herself at a safe distance so that I wouldn’t reach her or surprise her with an unexpected assault but little did she realize, I didn’t need to do that. In that moment, I emerged and threw a grenade at the creature and before she could dodge, the explosion went off instantly. The impact was devastating but the b-tch survived ; however before she could recover from her shock, I teleported straight to her place and hitched myself on her back. My aim was to grab the artifact and destroy it but before I could reach for it, the creature recovered and then flew us both straight into the sky.
Holding on to the back of the creature was hard cause not only was it flying incredibly fast, it was also twisting itself around trying to throw me off it’s back. Within a matter of minutes, we were outside Ibadan in the open plain fields. Eventually, the creature succeeded in throwing me off it’s back but that was no problem cause now, things were about to get intense. After landing on my feet, the creature kept herself in the sky firing her feathers at me from all direction, the feathers were so many that they blocked out the moon rays that shone upon me. At first, I wanted to dodge but I decided to end things right here and now.
In that very moment, I brought out Shango’s machete and unsheathed it bringing out in the open. I was expecting to wield it easily but then it’s incredible power made that impossible. Shortly after I brought out the machete, the sky boomed with thunder and the lightning from the machete scattered and flashed all over the sky destroying the feathers that came at me. The impact and power of the lightning made my body tremble tremendously, every muscles in my body felt like it was going to explode. I had to gather all my strength to wield my machete cause I needed to use this opportunity to end this winged creature. After seeing what was in my possession, the winged creature shook with fear and tried to retreat but it was already too late for her.

Winged creature ➡ You’re a pest but I won’t indulge with you any longer. You may have prevented me from finishing my work but mark my words, I will continue this else.
.

Riley ➡ You’re not going anywhere. This is your last killing spree.
.

Just as the winged creature was about to escape, I pointed the machete to the sky making another burst of lightning to flash in the sky. The winged creature in her haste got electrocuted so much that her screams shook the atmosphere. After her electrocution, the winged creature fell from the sky but before she could hit the ground, I threw the machete at her direction. The machete went so fast that not only did it release a series of powerful lightning around the field but it also pierced her chest and released an explosive powerful burst of lightning that electrocuted her brutally until she was reduced to dust.
After the explosion, I got back on my feet and went to where the machete lay, the field was torn apart and the landscape was barely recognizable. I had to be careful when reaching out for the machete cause it’s power was too unstable. Immediately I grabbed the machete, I sheathed it and went to the remains of the winged creature. Although I was glad that she was dead but I felt somewhat bitter that I forgot to ask her about where Evlyn’s meeting was holding but then something interesting occured.
To my surprise the artifact which the winged creature had on her neck rose from her remains and then flew straight into the sky. Without hesitation, I chased the damned thing using my teleportation. It was risky following such a dangerous artifact but I just can’t let it go without releasing the souls that are inside. Chasing the artifact was no easy task, it was very fast and keeping up with it was difficult but eventually I managed to keep track of it.
I had no idea how long I was chasing the artifact but eventually my chase soon came to a stop after I saw myself in Osogbo. I was hoping to see a busy street but to my utmost surprise, the streets were dark and empty. Everywhere was quiet and still and to make things worse, there was a very powerful sinister aura all over the city. As I kept chasing the artifact, I eventually caught up with it in an open field where I felt the stronger presence of this sinister vibe. After I grabbed the artifact, I snapped the damn thing apart freeing all the souls that were in it.
After the souls departed, I felt a very stronger and more powerful dark presence in the field I found myself in. I hesitated at first but then I walked through the field to see what was giving me this uncomfortable vibe. Then all of a sudden, I found myself in front of an invisible cloak dome, it was protecting something and I got curious. Eventually, I went into the dome and found myself in front of a big ancient fortress being roamed by supernatural being of all sorts. In that very moment, I turned myself invisible and began to walk around the fortress. It didn’t take me long to realize where I was, this was Evlyn’s haven, her sanctuary, her very territory. All this time she was closer than anyone had anticipated, she had taken control of Osogbo and everyone in it.

My sixth sense was telling me to make a quick exit but I decided to see if I could do anything to sabotage this place. Evlyn has caused so much pain already not to mention that she nearly killed my daughter, it’s time she starts getting a taste of her own medicine. Before I could go far into fortress, I spotted Xeira, the rogue mermaid princess talking with some mean looking wizard and their conversation really got my attention.

Mayé ➡ Tonight’s the night.. Vengeance will be ours.
.

Xeira ➡ That’s right. Rose will meet her end tonight and all those with her. However, I would to play with Christen and her husband one more time.
.

Mayé ➡ So where’s Evlyn holding her assembly?
.

Xeira ➡ There’s an ancient witch coven in the rural parts of Oyo, it’s hidden from the eyes of humans.
.

Mayé ➡ Good, I better get going now.
.

Xeira ➡ You better cause I’m heading straight to where the trap was laid for Rose and her likes. Christen will be there and I won’t miss this chance to kill her. Her head will make a fine trophy. Isn’t that right, Riley?
.

In that moment, I shook with shock that I mistakenly revealed myself. Xeira smiled at me viciously and before I knew it, all eyes were on me. Just how did she know I was here?
.

Riley ➡ Xeira!! I won’t let you harm Christen!
.

Mayé ➡ So this is the dog that mated with Rose’s sister?
.

Xeira ➡ Do you honestly think that you’re safe? I recognize your filthy smell anywhere. Here I was hoping to get my hands on you and here you are. ANY LAST WORDS?
.

Riley➡ Yeah! You’re going to pay for hurting Christen.
.

Xeira ➡ BROTHERS… SISTERS… WE HAVE AN INTRUDER… BRING ME HIS HEAD.
