CHAPTER 16

“I insanely enjoy yelling?” the crown prince yelled.

“Well you’re doing it now!” Rosanne yelled back in anger.

She gasped loudly when she realised she just talked back, not just talk, she just yelled back at the prince, the crown prince of Orrander, who with holds the royal blood passing through his veins.
And she a mere servant yelled back at him.

“I..i am so sorry your highness!” Rosanne stuttered bowing her head down, all the way to the floor.

“I have committed a gravely sin and I need to be punished for it, forgive me your Highness for talking back!” Rosanne voice trembled as she begged.

“You committed more than a grave sin, now rise!” The crown prince ordered.
Rosanne slowly raised her head up, her eyes dropping back to the floor, immediately she saw his emerald eyes.

“Of course you shall be punished, but first is that all you tend to write in your letter to your father?” The crown prince asked.
“Yes!” Rosanne said.

“Good, here, now mark my words, no one, and I mean no one, dare talks back at me.” The crown prince seethe, before getting on his feet and walking away.

Rosanne breathed out a sigh when she saw that the coast was clear in the ballroom and she snatched her letter from the cold floor.

“Rosanne how stupid of you, father thought you so well.” Rosanne sighed angrily slamming her fist on her th-gh.
“If news get out that I yelled at his highness, I’ll be done for, that is if his highness hasn’t chopped off my head” Rosanne sighed, again.
‘But what is wrong with the crown prince, one minute he’s like this hot tempered introvert and the next minute he’s here writing my letter still being angry while writing it, i don’t understand him at all’ Rosanne thought shaking her head to herself.

She looked down at the letter and seeing as the ink laid beautifully on it, she smiled.
“But still I’m grateful, father will be hearing from me” Rosanne stated standing up.
She held on to her dress as she made it across the ballroom and to the castle door.
Walking out of the castle doors , the sun hit Rosanne’s face, causing her to narrow her eyes.
She walked down the short stairs and looked sideways.
“I thought I saw a letter box when I arrived here” Rosanne said to herself. Her eyes suddenly landed on a green metallic box on the wall of the castle and she smiled.

She walked towards the castle’s letter box and the word ‘letters’ was written on the box, though she couldn’t read it, she figured it was for letters.
Rosanne smiled at the box after placing the letter in the box.

As she was about to step back into the castle, she paused.

“Wait!” she said to herself. “Castle Sylph is so des**ted, is my letter ever going to be delivered? And goodness, I didn’t even put an address, I couldn’t because the crown prince was so angry with me, stupid Rosanne, you’re so stupid” Rosanne sighed angrily, she glanced at the letter box, before stepping in,side the castle with a frown.
.
Just as the castle door went shut, with Rosanne locking the heavy doors.
A man dressed in black cloak walked towards the letter box silently, his hands reached for the letter in,side the box, and immediately he left the castle.
:
The day was becoming dark and the queen had just ordered her maids to prepare her bath.
And just as she was recieving a m-ssage, Cornelius walked into the room.

“Your H-highness” he called with a bow.
“Cornelius” The queen mumbled. Her eyes closed.
“Your highness, big news from castle Sylph” Cornelius added, making the queen open just her right eye.
“What big news?” The Queen asked.

“This!” Cornelius replied moving his hand forward, with a paper in it.

The queen slowly opened her second eyes as she took the paper from Cornelius.
Her eyes moved around the paper, and she she glanced up at Cornelius.
“What is this? This is just a letter written by… Rosanne? Is it from the maiden at Castle Sylph?” The Queen asked.
“Yes and the thing is, Rosanne cannot read nor write, your Highness!” Cornelius bowed.
“What? Then how did she wri…
The queen paused.
“Wait, my son and that maiden are the only ones at castle Sylph, are you saying that my son wrote this?” The queen almost scre-med.
“Yes your highness, according to the royal spy, the crown prince wrote this!” Cornelius announced trying not to smile joyful.
:
The queen pushed the doors to the King’s Chambers open and walked in with Cornelius behind her.

“Adalind!” The king called.
“Arch. You won’t believe this” The queen called happily.

“Careful Adalind!” The king stated, when the queen almost tripped on her own dress.
“Oh please, here!” The queen added placing the letter in her husband’s hand.
The king looked down at the letter and shooked his head Negatively.

“I don’t understand” He said.
“The crown prince wrote this, for the maiden serving him at Castle Sylph” The Queen stated happily.

“He did?” The king arched his brows.
“Certainly” Cornelius added.
“And are you certain? this could be Rosanne’s doing, because I have heard over the years that some maiden are secretly taught how to write and read on their own, which is against the law and the crown prince doesn’t converse with people and then be on his right mind to write bad about himself to a girl who wants to send a letter to her father! I think Rosanne wrote this herself, and she should learn the consequences of going against any rule in Orrander.” The King’s voice was loud.

“Oh now be quiet my lord!” The queen rolled her eyes. “Give me a break with the rules now, and why don’t we invite her father over to confirm the truth! And if Rosanne does know how to write, nothing will happen to her” The Queen spat before walking out of the King’s chamber.
:
Zackary stood in front of the king and queen, his forehead holding a lot of sweat.
‘Why am I here, I hope I am not in trouble, and I hope Rosanne isn’t in trouble too, why I was I summoned here’ Zackary thought nervously.

“Zackary, the father of Rosanne now am I right?” The king asked.
“Yes your majesty, Rosanne is my dear and only daughter!” Zackary replied boldy with a bow.

“Cornelius, pass it to him.” The queen ordered and Cornelius passed the letter to Zackary.
Zackary looked down at the letter and he gasped when he came to read it all.

“A letter from my daughter?” he asked, befuddled.
“Yes, so you recognised the handwriting!” The king scoffed.

“I’m afraid I do not, because at the bottom of the letter it says From your daughter Rosanne, because my Rosanne cannot read nor write” Zackary shook his head.

“Lies!” The king scoffed.

The queen glared at her husband before turning to Zackary.
“Are you sure, we need you to be honest”

“Yes your Highness, I am telling the truth, my Rosanne cannot write, she has always pestered me to teach her how to, but I always reprimand her saying it’s against the law, her betrothed has always been the one reading and writing letters to her. Even before leaving to serve the crown prince, she was sad about not being able to write, because there was no other way she could reach out to me.” Zackary explained.

“Then there is no other way then, my hasting wrote this!” the queen smiled.

“What if her betrothed taught her how to write secretly, you never know, and how would the crown prince write Ill of himself, this is absurd!” The queen scoffed.

“You know what, Zackary, you need to send a reply as soon as possible, Cornelius get the ink immediately!” The queen ordered.
