Dianna’s POV
It could be said that a new dawn had befallen Arcane City and I am happy, all those that stood against us is gone, my family is back together and I have my little girl here with me

“Mom” Bellatrix’s bright voice echoed as she ran into my room embracing me

“What’s wrong baby girl?” I asked

“Ethan! He said he’s gonna shave off my hair!” Bellatrix said and I laughed

“Now why will Ethan say that? What did you do to him?” I asked

“Nothing Mom” she said and I knew she just lied

“Bellatrix?”

“Fine, I called him a cry baby” Bellatrix pouted

“And why will you call him that Bellatrix?”

“Because I saw him crying to uncle Ivan, I heard him saying he dreamt of someone called Sophie and he misses her” Bellatrix said

“That was a bad remark to make at Ethan sweetheart, he only cried because he misses a special person to him and that’s absolutely normal” I said

“Who’s the special person to Ethan Mom? Who’s Sophie?” Bellatrix asked

“She was a great lady sweetheart, she was Ethan’s only sister and uncle Ivan loved her” I said

“So that is why he cried? Because Sophie is a special person to him and he misses her?” Bellatrix asked and I nodded

“Do you also have a special person that you cry when you miss Mom?” Bellatrix asked

“Your dad, Owen, I do miss him sometimes and I can’t help but cry when I miss him, he was a great man and it’s a pity he didn’t get to meet you” I said as my voice cracked and Bellatrix hugged me

“Having some mother and daughter moment?” Eric asked as he stood by the door

“Good morning uncle Eric” Bellatrix said and I smiled

“It’s time for breakfast” Eric announced

“We’ll be down in a bit Eric” I said and Eric nodded and left

“Let’s go down shall we? And make sure to apologize to Ethan when we get to the dinning room” I said and Bellatrix nodded

We went downstairs and everyone was already seated, about to eat
Bellatrix went to stand beside Ethan

“I’m sorry for calling you a cry baby” she said

“Well you are not forgiven” Ethan said

“You have to forgive people when they apologize! Fine, I’ll show you some of my beautiful drawings, then you’ll forgive me” Bellatrix said and she ran off to get her drawings

“Oh please, someone tell her I have no interest in seeing her drawings” Ethan said

“You are the one that refused to forgive her when she apologized” Ivan said

“Yeah so you deal with it” Eric added and we laughed

Bellatrix returned with his drawing book and began to flip it in front of him, giving him a detailed explanation of each drawing

“This is the flowers at the courtyard, I drew them yesterday and this is a man I saw in my dream, he has the most beautiful smile, this is a drawing of the view of Arcane City from Mom’s room and…..”

“Flip back Bellatrix” Ivan said moving closer to take a look at her drawing

“To the man in your dream, I want to see that drawing” Ivan said and Bellatrix showed it to him
He collected her drawing book and he looked at me, surprise written all over his face

“Is this not Owen, Dianna?” Ivan asked handing me the drawing book
I looked at the drawing and Ivan is right, badly drawn yes but it is Owen with a bright smile on his face

“How did you know this person Bellatrix?” I asked

“I see him in my dreams a lot” Bellatrix said

“You see him in your dream?” I asked and she nodded

“Yeah and he always just stares at me and smiles” Bellatrix said
“Do you know him?” she asked

“Sweetheart this is your father, his name is Owen and he is your Dad” I said

“So my Dad came to visit me in my dream?” Bellatrix asked and I nodded

“Yes dear, I guess he’s trying to tell you that he’s proud of you and he’s always watching over you” I said with a smile

I suddenly began to feel hot and my head dizzy

“Dianna? Why are your fiery flames coming out right now?” Eric asked and I staggered

“Mom? Are you okay Mom?” Bellatrix asked holding my hand

I suddenly saw myself grabbing Bellatrix’s throat and she struggled to breathe
No what are you doing Dianna, let her go! She’s your daughter and you are hurting her!

“Dianna!” Eric quickly pushed me back taking Bellatrix away from me

“Bloody hell, what is wrong with you Dianna?” Ivan asked as he moved closer to me with and I sent him flying back to the ground as I sent a ball of flames his way

“It’s the raging hex” I heard Ethan say
I couldn’t control myself and I advanced towards him but Ivan stood up and held me back
Ethan quickly began to cast a spell and everything soon became blank…..

I opened my eyes to see everyone standing beside me

“Mom!” Bellatrix called immediately she noticed me opening my eyes

“No, Bellatrix, stay away from me, I don’t know if I’m in control yet, I might hurt you again” I said as I shifted away from her

“But I’m fine Mom, you didn’t hurt me” she said

“And Ethan did some kind of upgrade to keep your raging hex at bay” Ivan said

“It’s a very temporary solution, the raging hex is a strong hex which is not meant to be tamed, one can only keep it in control for so long, I used all of my powers on that amulet for you to be back to yourself, if the raging hex takes over you again, the amulet that keeps you in control will be shattered and I might not be able to keep hex at bay again” Ethan said

“Last time I was cursed with the raging hex, Owen had healed me, Eva had said only an innate one can heal the raging hex, can’t Bellatrix try healing Dianna? She’s also an innate one after all” Eric said

“I thought of that too, but the raging hex has been part of Dianna for more than six years, the longer the raging hex resides in a person, the harder it is to heal and Bellatrix is still very young and hasn’t discovered the full extent of her powers yet” Ethan said

“I can still try, I can try and heal Mom” Bellatrix said

“Bellatrix….”

“I can do it Mom, I can heal you” Bellatrix assured

“I think we should try, it might just work” Ivan said

“Then go ahead Bellatrix, we don’t have any time to waste, the hex can take over Dianna again at any time” Ethan said

“What exactly do I have to do?” Bellatrix asked

“You an innate one, you need no spells, just hold Dianna’s hand, close your hands and try to heal, just let your mind speak for her to be healed” Ethan directed and Bellatrix nodded

She held my hand and she closed her eyes tightly
We are all silent for a while, watching Bellatrix and hoping for it to end well
But I suddenly noticed Bellatrix bleeding from her nose

“Stop!” I yelled as I jerked her off mine

“What happened?” Bellatrix asked opening her eyes

“You’re bleeding Bella” Eric said

“Doesn’t matter, I can still heal her, I can heal Mom” Bellatrix said trying to hold my hand again

“No Bellatrix, you’ve done enough” I said

“I won’t advise you to try it again Bellatrix, like I said before, the hex has festered on Dianna’s body for too long, it will be hard for anyone to be able to heal her now and you are still young, your body is still trying to comprehend to the extent of your powers and putting such pressure on yourself is very harmful to your body” Ethan said

“But I still want to try, I don’t care what happens to me as long as I can heal Mom, I don’t…..”

“Enough!!!” I yelled and Bellatrix flinched

“I want to be alone, everyone should leave” I said and Eric held Bellatrix’s hand

“Let’s give Mom some time to rest, she’s going through a lot right now” Eric said as he took Bella out of the room

“Stay behind Ivan” I said and he stopped walking while others walked out

“Are you okay?” he asked and I scoffed

“How can I be okay? Everything Ethan just said meant I cannot be healed, I might have to spend the rest of my life under the influence of the raging hex, I almost hurt my daughter when it took over me, I came at you Ivan and I’ll have done worse if Ethan hadn’t put me down immediately but he says he won’t be able to do it next time, I’m an immortal and I cannot imagine living forever under the influence of the raging hex, I might end up killing my own daughter or hurting any of you and I can’t have that” I said

“I can always put you down when you go out of control” Ivan said

“You don’t understand Ivan, if the raging hex takes over me again, the sane Dianna will be lost forever and I’m always going to be out of control, always, there’s only one permanent solution to this, I heard Eric handed the golden dagger to you, let me use it Ivan, it’s the only way I can keep everyone safe from me”…….

Ivan’s POV
“…..there’s only one permanent solution to this, I heard Eric handed the golden dagger to you, let me use it Ivan, it’s the only way I can keep everyone safe from me” Dianna said

“Let you use the golden dagger?” I scoffed
“Let me know when you have something else to say, meanwhile get some rest” I said as I began to walk out

“Ivan” Dianna called

“How could you mention such a thing!!” I yelled
“I should let you use the golden dagger? For what bloody reason? So you can kill yourself?!!”

“You think I want to kill myself too? You think I want to die and leave my baby girl?!” Dianna voiced

“Then live for your girl, why do you have to suggest such a thing?”

“Because that’s the only solution, what is the point of holding on to my life when I very well know I won’t be myself and I’ll hurting you all or worse, killing Bellatrix” Dianna said

“Nothing of that sort will happen Dianna” I assured

“You do not know that”

“Yes I do, we no strangers to problems that seems to be impossible to solve, for a thousand years we’ve encountered a lot of things and yet we came victorious, this will be of no different, I’ve lost Gia already and I am not about to lose you too” I said

“Oh Ivan, don’t make this harder than it already is” she said

“I’ll find a solution, one in which no one has to die, trust me sister, rest and I will take care of everything” I said and I walked out

I went downstairs and Eric and Ethan were seated
“Where’s Bellatrix?” I asked

“She’s in her room, she was being restless and I’m not exactly very calm to deal with her right now so I asked one of the workers to try and put her to sleep” Eric said

“We have to find a way to cure Dianna of the hex” I said
“Is there no other way to cure the raging hex Ethan?” I asked

“Only an innate one that cure the raging hex, that’s how it has always been” Ethan said

“Well that means we have to find another innate one since Bellatrix is not able to heal Dianna” I said

“But there’s no other innate one Ivan, back then when I was hexed, Owen was the only innate one existing and now that he’s dead, Bellatrix is the last living innate one” Eric said

“Well we have to find to bloody find someone else as as she wants to end her life if we don’t!!” I yelled and Eric looked at me surprised

“What do you mean by that Ivan?” Eric asked

“She asked me to let her use the golden dagger, she’s afraid of hurting us all and she thinks it’s the only solution” I said

“That’s bloody nonsense, using the dagger is not an option! We will definitely find a solution, even if it means channelling every witch in this City, we will heal her” Eric said

“I’m sorry” Ethan uttered “I hexed her out of anger, this is happening because of me”

“Why are you apologizing? We will be able to heal her” Eric said

“I’m apologizing because we cannot Eric, the raging hex has been on Dianna for too long, Bellatrix can’t heal her as she’s still just a kid who doesn’t know how to use her full power yet and she’s the only innate one alive, you all know how strong a person under the raging hex is, if the hex takes over Dianna again, even my spells won’t be able to tame her again, the hex will take over her forever and she can hurt anything and anyone” Ethan said

“So are you saying we should give up? Give up and let Dianna kill herself so we’ll lose yet another sister?” I asked

“Kill herself? What are you guys talking about?” we had Bellatrix’s voice and I turned around to see her standing on the stairs
“Is my Mom going to die?”

“Bellatrix…..”

“I’ll ask her myself” she said as she turned around and ran to Dianna’s room

Dianna’s POV
Bellatrix ran into room with a teary eye and Ethan, Eric and Ivan ran in with her

“Are you really going to die Mom? You aren’t going to die are you?” Bellatrix asked

“Bellatrix”

“I told you I can heal you Mom, I told you I can, I just need to keep trying” Bellatrix said

“You cannot heal me sweetheart, you’ll only hurt yourself if you continue to try and I don’t want that, the last thing I want is for you to be hurt” I said

“I’m sorry Dianna, this is all because of me” Ethan said, shoulders dropped

“Oh it is not your fault at all Ethan, this is destiny playing with us all” I said

“Why is it his fault Mom? What did you do Ethan? Why is Mom being sick your fault?” Bellatrix asked

“Years ago we…. we weren’t really in good terms and I cursed her with the hex” Ethan said

“You made my Mom this way?! You hurt my Mom?!!” Bellatrix yelled and I held her hand

“I need a moment with Bellatrix please” I said and they all walked out

“Remember when you said you heard Ethan talking about Sophie this morning and how he misses her?” I asked and Bellatrix nodded

“Sophie was Ethan’s sister and I killed her, so sweetheart do not be angry at Ethan because even though I took away the only family he had, he’s still here and he’s supporting us and that’s not something just anyone can do” I said

“But Mom, are you really going to die? You aren’t going to leave me are you?” Bellatrix asked and a tear rolled down her eyes

“I’m not leaving you Bellatrix, I just won’t be with you physically anymore and I promise this isn’t easy for me too but you saw how I suddenly went into an uncontrollable rage in the morning, I would’ve really hurt you if Eric didn’t take you away on time, Ethan helped me contain the rage but that rage is going to come back soon, I can feel it and when it does I will be lost forever and I will hurt people, people I care about, especially you Bellatrix and I can’t have that, I’d rather die than for that to happen”

“But Mom I don’t want you to die, we are supposed to live together forever” Bellatrix cried

“This is going to be the first lesson of your life Bellatrix, things don’t always go as we want and we just have to deal with it, years ago I thought I had totally lost you forever but fate brought you back to me and we even got to live together, I have no regrets sweetheart, I have no regrets” I said as I pulled her into an embrace

“But Mom…..”

“You will be hurt but you’ll grow over the pain because you are strong and you are not alone and you have your family to support you, Ivan, Eric, Ethan, they are your family and you will always be there for each other, you will grow up to be the strongest witch the world’s ever known, you will grow up to be powerful, you will not oppress people but you shall not be oppressed either, if need be, you shall fight for yourself and you shall fight for your family, because you are Hammington and that’s we do” I said and she nodded

Bellatrix cried some more and soon she fell asleep in my arms
I gently placed her on the bed

“You are brave Bellatrix Hammington, just like your father, goodbye sweetheart” I said as I placed a kiss on her forehead

I walked downstairs and I met Eric, Ivan and Ethan
“Will you hand the dagger to me or do I have to fight you for it?” I asked Ivan and he handed me the golden dagger

“I guess this is it then, just stay safe and take care of my daughter, that’s all I want” I said

“I wish it didn’t have to end this way” Ethan said

“You don’t to feel bad Ethan, I killed your sister, I deserve this” I said

“I’ve forgiven you, for killing my sister, I’ve forgiven you for that” Ethan said and I smiled
I looked at my brothers and they both remained silent

“You two have nothing to say?” I asked and they remained silent

“Fine, I’ll just go, I’ll go through this part alone, just tell my little girl that I love her and I always will” I said
I walked out of the Mansion into the orange light of the setting sun, the city was peaceful, I smiled
I found a secluded place in front of a little lake and I sat on the seat under a tree and facing the lake

“Is this where you want to spend your last minutes” I heard Ivan’s voice and I looked back to see him standing behind me with Eric and I chuckled

“You guys came” I said

“You didn’t think we were just going to let you go like that did you?” Eric said as they both sat beside me

“I considered it” I shrugged

“We do not want to let you go but then again we’ll respect your wish, rather than struggling your whole life with the raging hex and the constant fear that you might hurt those you care about, you’d rather make a peaceful exit from this world” Eric said and I nodded

“It is never easy, saying goodbye after a thousand years” Ivan said

“Isn’t it ironical, we’ve probably killed the most number of people in our lifetime, we snuff life out of people like it’s nothing but death has finally visited our household and it doesn’t feel so good does it? I guess Gia and I are paying for all our bad deeds, after I’m gone you boys better try to lead a good and less sinful life” I said

“We’ll live, protecting Bellatrix, Ethan and the whole of Arcane City” Eric said

“We shall be cool as long as no one dares to cross us” Ivan said

“After all the events in the past years, I don’t think there’ll be anyone that will ever want to cross the Hammingtons again” I said and heaved a sigh

“We’ve come a long way from where we began, a thousand years ago we were just teenagers following our parents on their expeditions and search for power, till they crossed The Guardian and we got cursed, I’ve lived longer than anyone has in this world so I should be grateful right? I am not sad at all, I am happy because I know you all will lead a good life after I’m gone, we are still cursed yes but we are The Hammingtons, the curse is our identity now, we’ve lived with it and you two shall continue to live with it but at least now the Hammington line won’t end with us, Bellatrix shall carry on the Hammington legacy” I said with a smile and then I winced as I suddenly felt dizzy like my head had just been banged against the wall

“Are you okay?” Ivan quickly asked and Eric held my hand

“I don’t have much time, the hex is crawling up on me and it will take over me soon” my shaky hands held the dagger tightly, directing it my chest but Ivan collected the dagger from me

“Let me help you sister” he said and I nodded
He placed the dagger to my chest and a tear rolled down his face
“It’s been a thousand years Dianna, it’s been a long ride, this is not the end, you are only going to finally rest after a thousand years of struggles, rest Dianna knowing you’ll forever live in the mind of those you left behind” Ivan said as he plunged the dagger into my chest and I winced
I could feel the life slowly slipping out of me and my vision were slowly disappearing
“Thanking you for raising us as the eldest for a thousand years” I heard Eric’s shaky voice as my eyes finally closed and my heart beat slowly died down and finally, I was left with the peace of silence……
