THE MISTAKEN IDENTITY
SEASON 2
EPISODE 17

I did not want her to know the real reason why I had rejected the job but I cooked up an excuse and she bought it.
“Okay Ham, I will support you however I can; just feel free to talk out your heart.” She said after I convinced her that I wanted to venture into self employment.
After spending some more few hours together, Lucy went back to her house and I was left all alone in my house.
I went and took my phone where I had left it the previous night and when I switched it on, I found that Mwikali had tried calling me sixteen times and Silvia had tried calling me ten times.
I did not bother to know why they were calling me, I just deleted the messages and assumed I had not seen them.
Just then I received a call from Benson; it was the last call I ever expected to receive at that particular moment considering I had just come from his studio a few hours ago.
“Hey Ben, to what do I owe this call?” I asked after receiving the call.
“We need to talk Ham.” He said sounding calm.
“About what?” I asked curiously.
“Can we arrange for a meeting? There is something I need us to discuss urgently.” He said.
“Are you available right now?” I asked curiously.
I was anxious to know what Benson had in mind so I could not wait to know what it was. He told me to meet him in a nearby restaurant in about an hour’s time. In my head I thought that something had happened to the car and so he wanted to report to me before it was too late.
I did not even bother to tell Lucy that I was gone, I just freshened up and took a bus to the agreed Restaurant. I got there earlier than we had agreed so I ordered for a cup of coffee and began enjoying it before Benson arrived. A few minutes later he came driving the Range Rover and my guess was wrong, the car was in perfect condition.
He came, sat at the table where I was seated then made drink orders for us both and looked at me for a while then said;
“Ham, I have a business proposal; I hope you will endorse it.”
“I am listening.” I said eagerly waiting to hear what his proposal was.
“It has become challenging to run my business alone since I want to open a new branch, so I was proposing to sell you half of my shares then we run the business together. The profit gained shall be shared equally and all management responsibilities shall be done by us both. I would have asked my sister to help me out but she is not into this kind of business. I understand that you were working at Bentey and from what I know, that company was running under your office. My sister informed me that you resigned and I felt it would be a pleasure asking you to come and work with me Ham.” He said.
It sounded like a good deal but I was not so close to Benson, I was not so sure if I could trust him. The fact that I had rented him my Range Rover did not mean that I trusted him; I needed quick cash and the car was useless to me with no money to fuel it.
“Let me sleep on it Mr. Kiplagat then I will get in touch with you tomorrow.” I said.
“No worries brother, take your time.” He replied.
I then began inquiring about the business and from the statistics Benson gave, it was a sweet business to venture into. He offered me a discount if I agreed to purchase the shares and it was a fair deal.
We later parted ways and I went to talk to Lucy about it. I first investigated about Benson from her then after I was satisfied with his reliability, I told her about the offer. She recommended me to accept the offer and assured me that she was going to be my guarantor in case Benson happened to betray me if at all I had any doubts.
Convinced that it was a legit business, I agreed to partner with Benson and we began by coming up with a plan on how to jointly run the expanding business. To test my abilities in running a new business, I asked to run the new branch and by the time the first week was elapsing we made more profit than Benson expected since I used my Bentey influence to maximize the business.
We began receiving more clients, some who were former clients of Bentey Enterprises since I updated all my friends where I was now working and they all followed me to the new Benham Enterprises.
I had began enjoying the potential richness in the business and I was satisfied with how things were; I even forgot about Bentey. One evening as I was driving home from work, I met with Mwikali and Edwin in town; I had taken back my Range Rover since the contract we had with Benson had ended and he bought a new car with the money I bought the shares with.
Mwaura had taken Mwikali to do shopping for the baby and I happened to stop by the mall they were shopping to get something for Lucy and Viola.
“Hey Ham!” Mwaura greeted me after he s₱0tted me; Mwikali had not seen me yet.
“Hey, what’s up?” I asked as I greeted him.
“Am fine bro, just doing some shopping for my nephew.” He replied smiling.
“That’s nice; I too am doing some shopping for my baby girl.” I replied loud enough for Mwikali to hear then observed her reaction.
I knew she could not respond to me and she could do nothing stupid since she could not risk Teyie knowing that we used to sleep together; she was cautious of Mwaura. She stopped what she was doing and stared at me like someone with a million questions to asked.
“You have a girl?” Mwaura asked shocked.
“There is this lady I fell in love with and she has a charming little baby girl; she is such a darling.” I replied excitedly.
I could see jealous written all over Mwikali’s face. She just walked away then asked Mwaura to take her back home…
