Chapter 60 :- Ghoul hunting

Flying high in the night skies as a bat above the city of Kano, Riley Jr soars swiftly through the air using sonar waves and echolocation to find any distress that might lead him to the dreaded Ghoul known as Bakin maye. After flying around for nearly an hour, the young wizard soon finally picks up strange noises coming from a short distance outside the city. After tracing the noises, Riley Jr s₱0ts an old duplex house sitting on top of the famous hill known as “Gorron dutse”. Shortly after descending upon the roof of the house, Riley Jr observes a strange occurrence which forces him to remain quiet and stay still.
Climbing up to the hill is a tall weary looking man with the most ugliest features. His face was more dead than alive and his skin was pale and wrinkly . Apart from the deathlike look, the man’s dressing was no different from a butcher. As the tall man reaches the front porch of the house, he knocks once and waits patiently like a customer in bank. Within a matter of seconds, the door opens steadily creaking in the most ominous way. In a blink of an eye, a large ghoul emerges from the darkness of the house and stares at the man before him for a while before conversing with him.
Riley Jr who was watching what was going became confused at the Hausa dialect spoken between the 2 that were below him. Thinking that there was no use for him to stay, the young wizard tried to leave the place but before he could do that, he hears something unexpected. Whilst the discussion was still going on, the man bows and utters the name Bakin maye before heading down towards the hill. Seeing that he had found the creature he was looking for, Riley Jr flies away in his bat form disappearing into the night.

Meanwhile here in the dungeon of his dark abode, Bayin maye takes his time observing the little children that he had kidnapped and kept in cages. Seeing that they had reached a certain amount that would satisfy his hunger, the ghoul licked his l-ips deliciously and grinned wickedly. In that moment, one of the ghoul’s servant rushes in and informs him about an unexpected intrusion.

Ghoul servant ➡ Greetings master, we have some intruders in the house.

Bakin maye ➡ INTRUDERS!?

Ghoul servant ➡ Yes sir.
.

Bakin maye ➡ What do they look like?
.

Before the ghoul servant could reveal the identity of the intruders, a loud explosion went off in the house tearing most of it apart. Fearing the mystery behind this explosion, Bakin maye rushes out of his dungeon to see who dared to attack him. But as soon as the ghoul arrives at the scene of the explosion, he becomes utterly shocked as he sees a young boy before him.

Bakin maye ➡ WHO ARE YOU?

Honestly, I’d never thought I’d find that detestable ghoul’s hideout but my patience finally paid off. Immediately I secured the ghoul’s location, I reached to Hadiza and my cousins and teleported us all together right back to the place.
Our plan was simple and short. All we need to do is cause distraction, division then slaughter. The first part of the plan fell on Akpan and I and fortunely for us, the wéréy whom I thought would be useless showed that he was no slouch. As it turns out, Akpan is a dual magic user, he can make inanimate objects explode by touching or just snapping his hands at the object and he can also produce very hot steam from that was enough peel a man’s flesh from his bones.
Immediately we appeared at the ghoul’s home, Akpan snapped his finger exploding half of the werey’s home to pieces. Before the smoke could clear, Hadiza and my cousins branched out to block all the escape routes on the hill in case the ghoul tried to escape. Shortly everyone had departed, I was left alone at the scene and it didn’t take long for the ghoul to appear. As the ghoul appeared before me, I shivered in fear as I saw his looks and size. He was large and ugly.

Bakin maye ➡ WHO ARE YOU?

Although I was out of reach, the ghoul’s breath nearly made me vomit, it was stinking of rotten flesh and sewage. No fart can ever be compared to this kind of smell. Immediately the ghoul asked that question, other ghouls began to pop out of the house, there were so many of them. Immediately I saw how many the ghouls were, I took off running like an antelope and just as I expected, the wereys followed me like flies.
Out of all the supernatural beings, the ghouls were the slowest, their speed is no different from an ordinary man. Luckily for me, I was 2 times faster than them so I gave them quite the distance. As soon as I had gotten to particular point on the hill, I sent a signal to Sara by whispering to the shadows around me to activate the second phase of our plan which was division. Using her shadow magic, Sara created small young girls from the shadows and dispersed them to the direction that we had secured ourselves. The ghouls who were far behind saw the shadow clones and thought that they were real girls. As expected, the ghouls divided themselves and chased clones while their leader, Bakin maye chased me down.
Everything was going according to plan and I couldn’t help but smile to myself but just when I thought that nothing could ever go wrong, the unexpected occured. Just before I could reach the rendezvous point, I felt a nasty slash on my back that made me fall hærd on the ground. In my confused state, I turned around and saw Bakin maye whose hands had suddenly become long and stretchy. The wound the b-stard had inflicted on me was minor but there was more to it. As I tried to get back on my feet, I felt my body get numb and stiff and before I realized it, my entire body was paralyzed.

Bakin maye ➡ (laughs) No more running, you annoying brat. You think you can come to my home and make a mess. I’m going to enjoy feasting on your flesh and bones.
.

I knew I was in deep shit the moment my body became paralyzed. This must be the method Bakin maye uses to abduct children. He poisons their vitals which makes them completely immobilized. Seeing that the ghoul was approaching me, I tried to teleport but I couldn’t. Calling out for help was futile cause I couldn’t talk. All I could do in that was hope that someone should come to my rescue before this ghoul gobbled me up for dinner.

As the ghouls foolishly take the bait, they each disperse to different directions getting closer and closer to their doom. Here on the north side of the hill, Sara who s₱0ts the ghouls heading towards her stands patiently for them to get closer to her. The ghouls on the other hand who had also s₱0tted the little witch ran towards her with full speed licking their mouths hungrily as they howled with greed.
Seeing that the ghouls were charging towards her like bulls, the little witch starts to laugh hærd like a psycho. The ghouls who had saw what was happening halted and began to stare at the little witch with confusion.

Ghoul 1 ➡ What is wrong with this one? Has she lost her mind?
.

Ghoul 2 ➡ I have a bad feeling about this one. She should be afraid of us, not laughing.
.

Ghoul 3 ➡ Let’s just jump on her and tear her apart. I’m hungry.
.

Annoyed by Sara’s crazy laughter, the ghouls descend upon her like bees but before they could even touch her, something strange occurs. In a blink of an eye, the little witch snaps her fingers making the shadows around her to slice and dissect the ghouls’s body like meat. Just in a matter of seconds, the ghouls were dead and everywhere was quiet.
Looking around and admiring her handy work, Sara grabs one of the ghoul’s head close to her feet and stares at it right in the face. Disgusted by the ghoul’s ugliness, the little witch pokes her 2 of her fingers into the ghoul’s eyes bursting them to pieces. After that, Sara throws away the ghoul’s head and heads to her sister’s direction.

Here on the west side of the hill, things aren’t looking so great for the ghouls especially not when they had Helen to deal with. Unlike her sister that had given the ghouls that confronted her a quick execution, Helen took her time brutalizing and torturing the ghouls in the horrible way. Using her magic webs to tangle the ghouls like the way spiders do to their preys, Helen tightens web around them with extreme force making the web to sink into their flesh. She also adds the most poisonous spider venom on the webs which makes the ghoul’s to s¢ræm in pain like monkeys . Inheriting her mother’s sadist nature, Helen scratches her neck pleasurably watching as the ghouls suffer in her hands. After watching for a while, the little witch summons her pet spider to gobble up the ghouls.
As soon as that was done, Sara appears on the scene interrupting her sister’s joyful mood. Seeing that her twin sister had appeared, Helen joins her and tells her all about her ordeal with the ghouls.

Sara ➡ I see you’re finished here. These ghouls are so weak.
.

Helen ➡ Still, I had fun. I wish you had seen what I did to them. I’m sure mommy will be happy to hear about this.
.

Sara ➡ Don’t let daddy hear about this o.
.

Helen ➡ He won’t. Mommy won’t tell him.
.

Sara ➡ Let’s go see how Akpan is doing.
.

Before the twins could move a muscle, a devastating explosion goes off on the eastern side of the hill making the whole place to tremble. After staring at the fireworks for a while, the little witches giggle and then teleport to the scene of the explosion.
Here at the explosion side, Akpan takes his time to dust himself after setting up an explosion that laid waste to nearly half of the ghouls that he was facing. The remaining ghouls on the other hand assembled and charged towards the young hybrid in order to tear him apart but before they could even get close, a terrible demise befalls them. Taking in a long deep breath, Akpan unleashes a hot steam from his mouth boiling the ghoul’s alive. The pressure of the steam instantly melted their flesh killing them off instantly. After devastating the entire ghouls, Akpan falls on his behind and begins to breath in and out in a fast rate.
In that moment, Helen and Sara appear on the scene staring at their cousin’s handy work with admiration. Unlike his cousins, Akpan wasn’t that excited, the whole thing was starting to get tiresome for him.

Helen ➡ Just look at these cockroaches. Akpan, you did well.
.

Sara ➡ Why are you sitting down?
.

Akpan ➡ I’m tired. Can we go home? My mom might get worried.
.

Sara ➡ Omo mommy.
.

Helen ➡ We will get home until we murderize all of these ghouls on this hill.
.

Sara ➡ Let’s go and check on Hadiza. She and junior should be done by now.
.

Akpan ➡ I don tire. I need water.
.

Helen ➡ (drags Akpan) Come jor. Let’s hope that there are still some ghouls left.
.

Here on the southern part of the hill, Hadiza who had been patiently waiting for Riley Jr notices that the young wizard hasn’t yet showed up. Despite believing in the young wizard’s capabilities, Hadiza couldn’t help get bad vibes about the whole situation. Acting on her instincts, Hadiza rushes with haste to check on the young wizard.
Meanwhile, Bakin maye who was trying to take Riley Jr hesitates as he felt and heard the explosion that went off moments ago. Sensing what was going on, the ghoul stared the young wizard viciously and then grabbed him by his neck strangling him.

Bakin maye ➡ You brat!…. you did this. I see what you’re doing but this is where it all ends. I’m going to kill you and let your corpse rot on this hill. Eating you isn’t worth it. Time to die you sneaky brat.
.

Feeling the tight grip on his neck, Riley Jr tries to struggle but his body wouldn’t move. Seeing that hurtful look on the young wizard’s face, Bakin maye laughs out viciously tightening his grip more and more but before his foul deed could be accomplished, an unexpected interference intercepts him.
Soaring through the air like a falcon, Hadiza instantly descends on Bakin maye slashing her horse wh¡p on his face. Her assault immediately costs the ghoul one of his eyes making him to yell in pain and let go of his victim. Using that opportunity, Hadiza grabs Riley Jr and keeps him out of reach before confronting the ghoul. Feeling hurt and enraged, Bakin maye stares at Hadiza and then sniffs at her.

Bakin maye ➡ You… You’re a witch, aren’t you?
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes.
.

Bakin maye ➡ Why are you siding with this human brat ?
.

Hadiza ➡ Just because he smells human doesn’t mean he’s one. This boy here is one of us.
.

Bakin maye ➡ I see…. Well, this brat caused a lot of damage to me. You’ll have to pay his behalf.
.

Hadiza ➡ Scoundrel. First you hurt my love and now you demand payment. What you deserve is death and that’s what you’re going to get.
.

Bakin maye ➡ YOU B-TCH!! Do you know who I am?…. Very well then, I’m going to enjoy hurting you very much. Come witch and feet your demise.
.

Slashing her wh¡ps with fury, Hadiza charges towards Bayin maye like a bullet with the intent to kill. Charging towards Hadiza as well, Bakin maye stretches out his arms trying to grab her. In that moment, The ghouls arms fall off as Hadiza slashes them off with ease. She presses on faster towards the ghoul whirling the wh¡ps furiously and as soon as she gets close, she wh¡ps the ghoul mercilessly.
For a moment, the silent hill echoed with the sound of Hadiza’s wh¡ps as they tear through the flesh of Bakin maye. The ghoul who was enraged by the pain, grabbed one of the wh¡ps and yanked it forcefully pulling Hadiza towards him. Before the ghoul could grab Hadiza, she swiftly dodges to the right and then lands a hærd knee on the ghoul’s midsection. As the ghoul bends down clutching his stomach in pain, Hadiza drops an elbow at the back of his head but in that same moment, Bakin maye retaliates and slams Hadiza with a powerful hit that sends her flying. Seeing that Hadiza had let go of her wh¡ps, Bakin maye grabs them and tosses them away and then approaches the witch.

Bakin maye ➡ I see you’re very good with your wh¡ps but without them you’re nothing. I guess you can’t use magic.
.

Upon hearing the ghoul’s confident words, Hadiza laughs and then gets back on her feet dusting herself. After stretching her limbs, Hadiza then approaches Bakin maye steadily.
.

Hadiza ➡ You think I can’t use magic?
.

Bakin maye ➡ Yes, even if you can, it must be very weak.
.

Hadiza ➡ Alright then. Prepare yourself ghoul cause I’ll be the last thing you ever see.
.

Shortly after that statement, Hadiza stands still and utters some ancient magic words which in return makes her eyes and the marking on her hands to glow. In that moment, Bakin maye who was approaching Hadiza freezes as he felt a sinister vibe around her. Realizing that things were about to get serious, The ghoul places his hands on the seal implanted into his chest by Evlyn and begins to utter some magic words which allows him to transforms into a more darker form of himself.
As soon as both supernatural beings had powered themselves up, the confrontation began. Making the first move, Bakin maye charges towards Hadiza like a bullet with the intent to kill but before he could land the first blow, Hadiza dodges and begins to throw multiple attacks on the ghoul.
Using everything at her disposal, Hadiza rams the ghoul with punches and kicks endlessly all over his body. Despite trying hærd to keep up with the witch, the ghoul was no match for Hadiza’s combat experience and now that she was at close range, his defeat was inevitable.
After weakening the ghoul and finding an opening in his center, Hadiza utters some magic words and then places her right hand on the ghoul’s chest pulling out his spirit from his body.

Bakin maye ➡ NO! My body… So you’re a spirit walker! Give me back my body.
.

Hadiza ➡ I hate violence but you gave me no choice. Your spirit is now mine. I’m sure the Altros will know what to do with you. Oh here they are.
.

Appearing out of the darkness, the Altros quickly descends on Bakin maye’s spirit pulling him away with them. Despite the ghoul’s effort to get back into his body, his efforts were futile and in the end his spirit was gone from the world of the living. After that, Hadiza rushes back to Riley Jr who’s body was still paralyzed from the poison. Realizing that the kind of situation the young wizard was in, Hadiza quickly brings out a small tube from her cleavage which contains a liquid substance. After opening the tube, Hadiza pour the contents in her mouth and then mounts Riley jr placing her mouth over his.
As the antidote starts to take effect, Riley jr’s body begins to return to normal and within a matter of seconds, the paralysis was gone. Seeing that Hadiza was on top of him and also locking l-ips with him, Riley jr quickly wraps his hands around Hadiza’s w–st holding her tight.

Hadiza ➡ You naughty boy.
.

Riley jr ➡ Can we stay like this for a while? Your body is just full of warmth.
.

Hadiza ➡ I would happily do that but not here not now.
.

Riley jr ➡ Why?
.

Hadiza ➡ Your cousins are here.
.

Helen ➡ What are you 2 doing?
.

Hadiza ➡ Your cousin got poisoned so I healed him.
.

Riley jr ➡ So did you guys finish off the ghouls?
.

Sara ➡ Yes, it was fun.
.

Akpan ➡ Can we go home now? I’m tired.
.

Riley jr ➡ We’ll do that but first, let’s check and see If there are anything children in Bakin maye’s house. Once we set them free and destroy his house, then we’ll go home.
