🤫 WHISPERS 🤫

🖤 Chapter Nineteen 🖤

A scre-m left my mouth immediately Arc and I popped up in Emy’s living room. Arc pulled me back, pressing my back on his chest. I cupped my mouth, the gruesome sight was unbelievable. I was too late, I couldn’t save them on time. Emy, Chlorie, their parents and friends were all dead.

“Esme is back,” I sobbed, “how did I not feel it? How?!”

“Let’s check around for survivors, I don’t think Judith is here yet.” He said calmly, he had seen more gruesome sight than this.

“I’ll have to pull her out of the realm, she must be stuck the… Hunter!” I hurried to the bottom of the staircase where a small body laid. I went on my knees and took his hand, he was still alive. “He is still alive, I’ll heal him.”

I placed my hand on his head and let my healing light flow into him. “There, he’ll be fine now. I need to find Judith, s…”

“I know where Judith is,” Arc said with a croak voice. I jerked up when he broke into a sob. “We are too late, my little girl…” I rushed over to him to see why he was crying. The air got knocked out of me when I saw a small pup laying lifeless on the floor. I swallowed hærd and reeled back as a strong wave of vertigo washed over me.

“No, no, no, no, no this has to be a dream!” I scre-med. I knelt down and carried the dog, she was so cold. “Baby, you have to be awake, don’t die on me!” I placed my hand on her head to heal her, but she was gone. “Arc, do something! Don’t let our little girl die, please!”

“I can’t do anything, she’s gone Ida…”

“No! You can’t tell me that! She can’t die like Judith and Sage and Victoria! She can’t be dead!” I scre-med at the top of my voice. My tears streamed down like a waterfall as the mansion slowly began to quake.

“Ida, please calm down…”

“No! My daughter can’t be dead! Why will she be dead after all this time! I’m suppose to be the one to die, not her!” The wall on the other side cracked.

“Ida, please,” he pulled me into his chest but it didn’t make sense. It was her birthday, she ought to be alive and meet her mate, get married and have children. I was in the bed with her, she was alive when she went to bed.

Judith had been speaking like I was going to die for weeks, did it mean she took my place so I would end it? It couldn’t be, she was just four and didn’t even know how to control her powers. My head has swollen with grief, nothing made sense anymore, no one made sense. Even as I continued to scre-m while hitting his chest, my heart felt like it was being divided. Judith, Emy and Arc were all I had, now all I had was Arc. The fear of the unknown came upon me, what if he left me too? How was I going to survive it?

The wh0le house trembled and cracked, things began falling here and there. Arc quickly left me, got Hunter and Judith then ran off, knowing fully well I could take care of myself. I remained in the house as the building collapsed to it foundation, nothing touched me as expected. I wished it did, I wished I got buried along with them, I wished I could take the darkness of the world with my death, but it wasn’t that easy.

I was stuck in the agony, I wasn’t going to die until Esme was gone and the longer I stayed, the longer others die to keeps me alive.

A week went by with me curling myself up in her room and crying my eyes out. Even when the others died, it didn’t break me as much as my daughter’s dead. Maybe because I actually birthed her, I brought her into this world and raised her for four years, four long years! Her pregnancy was extremely painful, one that made Arc scared because no one in history had survived carrying a child that caused the kind of pain she brought. I remembered how many times he tried to secretly help me get rid of the pregnancy before it claimed me, but I never let him. I beared for one year before she was born in seven days.

All the pain and endurance had gone to waste.

I hugged her belongings as I wept, refusing to eat, drink water or let anyone in. It was my agony to wallow in, I blamed myself for not noticing it, for not understanding or knowing that Esme was back. It was the day of her funeral, I held on to her new dress as I cried silently, memories of her filling my head.

“Mommy,” I cried more, I could almost hear her voice. “Mommy,” I gasped and raised my head, my little daughter stood before me. Not just her, she was in Victoria’s arms.

“You brought her back!” I exclaimed with joy.

“No, I didn’t bring her back, I brought her spirit to see you because she insisted on explaining why she left.” Tori said calmly, she looked better than her previous ghost form.

“Baby,” I stretched my hands out to her. Judith shook her head negatively, clinging to Tori.

“You can’t touch her, she’s a spirit now and it would make it difficult for her to leave…”

“I don’t want her to leave!” I scre-med, “I want my baby back, give her back so I can place her spirit back in her body!”

“Mommy, daddy is going to die soon.” She blunted out, that alone knocked me back to the floor.

“What?” I breathe.

“You were not suppose to have a child until Esme was dead, a child would hold you back,” Tori began to explain, “you were suppose to have triplets, two girls and a boy. However, something changed in your destiny, Arc would die before you could ever dream of conceiving them, Esme did something that I couldn’t stop. The death is inevitable, unchangeable and I couldn’t warn you…” I swallowed and buried my face in my palms, my world was falling apart. “Judith here is the eldest of your children, but the strongest. Her spirit was so strong it was already a fragment of the world, watching over you from when you were fifteen.

When she saw what would happen, including the death of her younger sister’s mate, she knew she had to do something. So she sent herself ahead to take the place of Arc. Don’t get it wrong, Arc will still face death, only this time he wouldn’t die, he would return. Judith’s dead gave her siblings the opportunity to stay, gave her sister’s mate the chance to live. I know it would be hærd for you, but you must let it go and get rid of Esme before she hurts more people, more are going to die if you don’t do anything.”

“Mommy, please don’t cry, don’t feel bad. I might have given up my chance to live in this world, but I’m glad I still came to open the way for my siblings. If I didn’t, neither of us would have been born, daddy would have left you. Please don’t be sad, I beg you to smile for Judith.” Judith sobbed.

I cried into my palms, another sacrifice for me. “How many more will go for my sake? You should have stopped her Tori, you should have.”

“Should have, but couldn’t. In case you have forgotten, when a female is born in our generation, she becomes stronger than her mother. You are stronger than I am, Judith is stronger than you are, how could I have stopped her?”

“Mommy, please don’t neglect daddy or he will die for sure, don’t let my work be in vain, please.” Judith sobbed.

“Judith will be in peace with me, until her sister gets pregnant and bear her, Ida she will come back as your grandchild so you need not worry.” I sniffed and nodded.

“Okay baby, I won’t cry much because of you, instead I will find a way to stop Esme.”

“I know a way,” Judith whispered, “the seals, but Esme is stronger than the seals now.”

“Then what do I do?”

“You must seek the blessings of the three other personification of the seals, you must go to their homes and have them bless the seals and renew the magic. Daddy must stay under the earth in the heart for days, to refill his seals. You also need to expel the darkness from the whispering voices, only then would you be able to get the spell that would put an end to Esme once and for all.”

“But how do I find the others? How the hell do I find Poseidon!” I hollered exasperatedly, throwing my hands in the air.

“The personification is not Poseidon, just there. Daddy knows where to find one, and the other will lead you to the remaining. But you must be careful mommy, be careful what you say to them and don’t fall for the sea god temptation, remember you belong to daddy.” She warned. I chuckled, my daughter was advising me on what to do, shocking.

“Alright, I will do that as soon as possible, bye baby.”

“Until we meet again.” She whispered. Their body faded away. I sniffed and started my crying over again.

After crying for over an hour, I went to my room and cleaned myself up, then prepared dinner for when Arc would return from the funeral. Arc plodded in, sleeping Hunter in his arms, head on his shoulder. Arc looked terrible, even more than I did. His hair was scattered, his eyes swollen and black like he was punched a couple of hundred times. His l-ips were bursted and I could see some self-installed injuries on his shoulders and hands, ones he refused to let heal.

He had emaciated, more than I did. I felt bad for making him feel neglected after losing our daughter, he was blaming himself too. Fear gripped my heart, Judith’s dead caused me so much pain, but I would have committed suicide if my husband was to be the one to face death. I couldn’t let him kill himself, I would kill myself too.

“Arc,” I called forcing a smile. He raised his head from his feet which he had been staring at. His eyes w¡dened when he saw me, I didn’t look that bad. “I made dinner, wanna join me?”

“Ida…”

“It’s okay, just drop Hunter in his room, clean up and come join me for dinner, I can’t eat alone.”

“I’ll be back fast.” He said with a sincere smile. I was the center of his world, without me he felt like nothing. Arc might have loved his daughter, but his love for me was unchallenged, he was more than a mate to me.

He rushed in,side to clean up, bouncing like a five years old boy who just got a bicycle. When he returned, he looked cleaner and less of an eye sore to me. I sat him down in the living room, sat on his laps and fed him as I ate, not bothering to tell him that Judith died for his sake, that would break him. I however told him about Tori coming, excluding the Judith part.

“I know where the phoenix lives, it’s in Hawaii somewhere but the phoenix isn’t a friendly creature. Maybe I should go with you so he won’t roast you.” Arc suggested worriedly.

“No, I must go it alone, you must go touch your powers up. Eva will stay with Hunter and make sure the pack security is at it best, Drew will be here too…” I looked at Eva who nodded in agreement. “If you are that worried, I could go with Kisa…”

“No use, don’t bother. Let’s talk about this tomorrow, my mind is clouded right now.”

“Eva, please return to electro form and check on everyone, you must check on the perimeters more constantly now.”

“I will love that,” she giggled, “see you in the morning.” With that, she returned to her bodiless form.

“I’m sorry,” Arc said all of a sudden, “I’m sorry for not being able to protect our daughter, for failing you. I should have been there to protect her, I should have been there to make sure our daughter…”

“Believe it or not, it is no fault of yours, it is not mine either. We would get through this together, we would survive this one way or the other. I’m alive right? We would have more children and this time, we would take good… Better care of them. Okay?” He nodded and shoved his face into my chest.

“Thank you, thank you for not hating me, thank you for not leaving…”

“I will never leave you Arc, we are in this together, forever and always.” He didn’t say anything, just cried into my chest. I remained on his laps, stroking his head and patting his back. Maybe the hugging wasn’t much of a comfort.

“Arc, do you want us to go to the bedroom? You can make love to me if that would make you feel any better,” I suggested. He raised his head, glistening eyes twinkling at me.

“You really won’t mind?”

I beamed, “since when have I ever mind?”

“Now Judith isn’t around to stop me anymore,” he said bitterly, “I will give anything to get her to stop me again.”

“And I will give my life to get you to smile at me again, to feel your hands around my body. Arc, I love you and we will get through this, at least we still have each other. Would you have been better if I was the one to die?”

“No! No, no, you can’t leave me, you can’t.” He cried.

“Now let’s go, okay?” I slowly pried his hand away from my wa-ist, stood up and teleported us to our bedroom. I made him sit on the side of the bed while I stood, watching his panic stricken gaze melt into mine. “I’m not going anywhere Arc, trust me.”

“Don’t leave, I won’t survive it.” He whispered almost inaudibly.

“Then be brave and let us finish this bitch once and for all,” I grinned, at least I was feeling better. I tugged at the hem of his shirt – which I wore – and pulled it over my head. His sad eyes changed as he watched me undress before him. “Don’t think of anything else, just think about you and me tonight, just us.”

“Just us,” he repeated slowly. It just had to be, tomorrow was uncertain for us.

••••••••••••••••• Narrative •••••••••••••••••

Esme scre-med as she thrashed her entire place, the pain from the bite the small pup gave her did more damage than she thought it would. She didn’t just lose her barrier, her powers weakened, she needed more souls to strengthen herself and place the world in darkness before her time runs out. Yes, that little imp had placed her life on the edge. She stopped scre-ming and pulled her hair, still couldn’t place her finger on who the child was.

“Mistress, if it would make you feel better, I have good news for you.” Her servant announced. She turned on her… Well spidery legs and hissed at the happy servant.

“What…(hiss)…news?”

“I just got the report that Idalia’s daughter is dead, the pup you killed was your enemy’s daughter…”

“What?! No w…(hiss)…onder she was able to hurt m…(hiss)…e this bad! That little imp g…(hiss)…ot what she de…(hiss)…serves. now what is the second news?”

“The perfect opportunity to destroy Willow Spring is here,” the servant said ecstatically. Esme rolled her eyes. “Look mistress,” she waved her hand over a mirror to show a meteor rushing towards earth. “Normally that meteor would burn up before it get close to the earth’s atmosphere, but with a little magic, that meteor could pass and land right in the middle of Willow Spring, destroying the town to nothingness.”

“Brilliant Ava!” Esme shrieked with a clap of her hand, “absolutely brilliant! This is why I trust you with my work, you are clever, very clever for a spirit I conjured up. Any other news?”

“Idalia’s pack is weak by the death of their princess, now would be the perfect chance to strike a small attack on the other towns, excluding the capital.”

“I love the way you think. Get the men ready to strike, and be careful not to let it be today, tonight Willow Spring falls.” Esme grinned, her eyes turned red as she looked at the meteor.

“I will do as you say mistress.” Ava said happily, glad she could make her mistress smile and be proud of her. With that joy overwhelming her heart, she turned and left Esme alone to do her thing.

“Burn, burn, burn you object of destruction. Flare and spin like a fireball heading to a destination. Drain the power of darkness, eat from my plate of sadness, dwell in my world of rage and spin until you land and destroy my specific place.” She laughed and pointed to Willow Spring through the mirror.

The natural fire around the mirror turned black, it speed increased and it spin gathered up the dark energy of it new commander. Esme laughed as she watched the meteor zoomed pass the atmosphere, flash pass clouds and birds, burning everything that stood in it path. Below were unsuspecting people, innocent humans living their lives. Some sleeping, some at work, some just walking in the night traffic and many more. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, unborn and living children. None saw it coming, none could see what was about to hit them until it was so close they could taste it.

Panic struck the people still awake, fear and scre-ms broke through as they saw their lives flashing before their very eyes.

Arc jumped out of bed, throwing Ida who he was cuddling on the ground. Ida scre-med as she hit the ground, shocked out of her beautiful sleep. The earth king saw what was coming, he couldn’t stop the destruction that would spread for miles, but he could soften the fall to only destroy less. He quickly threw on his robe over his bare body and ran, grabbing his sceptre and rushing to the roof. Ida stood up from the floor in confusion, they had just gone to sleep after a very long and passionate love section.

“Did I do anything wrong?” She mused, unsure of what she did and not feeling the darkness growing closer to earth. She stood up and wrapped the bedcover around her bare body, threw herself on the bed with a puff and tried to go back to sleep.

Arc stood on the roof, the orb of his sceptre on the open seal in his chest, mouth moving with the speed of lightning as he enchanted his sceptre. Snapping his glowing gold eyes open, he pointed the sceptre – which orb grew red – at the sky. A beam of energy emitted from the sceptre and to the meteor far away. The two powers collided, forcing the meteor to slow down, breaking a huge part of it and withering it to dust. With all he could do done, the meteor struck the heart of the town, taking half of it along.

The collision shook the nearby lands, causing earthquakes, division of the earth and dust to cover up miles away from the town. Car alerts sounded, buildings collapsed on earth other, roads broke and souls left their bodies. Esme looked at the destruction with satisfaction, she might not have destroyed everything but the souls coming to her brought a smile to her face.

Soon, soon they would all be dead and the world would look just like this.

Arc repeated the instructions as he helped me pack what I needed. Since Esme pulled another stunt, he had gotten too serious and kingly. He blames me for making him forget about his job, if he wasn’t in bed with me, he would have stopped the meteor on time. I didn’t blame him, it was anger talking so I let it all slide. The good thing about it was that it made his determination to retouch his powers stronger. If his powers was stronger, he would have been able to stop it.

“Don’t, I repeat, don’t look at the phoenix in the eyes or it fire would consume you, you must remember that. When you get there, don’t let him see the seal until you convince him because he will take it back and kill you, he has never been in support of having the earth clan wield so much powers. Don’t let him know you are my wife, his sense of smell is bad so he won’t perceive me on you. Also, try showering him with praises and slyly ask him where to find the other personification, okay?”

“Okay.”

“Good, you can’t let the others climb the mountain or the fire will kill them. Don’t spend too long there either, it would consume your soul…”

“I’m aware, I’m literally jumping into another dimension through a volcano, I know the risk.” I replied evenly.

“Good, don’t die, you have a job to do.”

“Okay.” So we were cold to each other, he started it.

“Kisa, Caleb, if anything happens to my wife, I will rip out your gullets and feed them to a lion.” He threatened. Kisa and Caleb bowed, they were coming with me because Arc insisted. Just in case anything happens to me, he would have someone to blame and kill to calm himself. I couldn’t do anything about it, he had been too cold and bossy even to me.

“The jet is ready,” Drew announced, his eyes filled with sadness. “Luna?”

“I’m ready, let’s go guys.” I said but I didn’t move, I was waiting for a hug or something. Arc simply threw my bag at Caleb and gave us a dismissive wave. I refused to move while the others left.

“Aren’t you going to leave?” He snapped.

“Aren’t you going to hug and k-ss me before I leave?”

“No.” He deadpanned. I sighed and tapped my fingers on my th-gh.

“You are a handful Arc, a handful. If you can blame me for this, then I hear by blame you for Judith’s death, now we blame each other for something and have a good reason to hate each other. See you when I return but don’t expect me to still love you, bye.” I disappeared to the jet before he could say anything, I had to make him feel bad. I raised my mental barrier, we weren’t communicating until I return, that would teach him a lesson.

In few minutes, our private jet took off. I wasn’t at all feeling down, I was tired of crying and wallowing. The only thing now on my mind was finding the personifications and ending this once and for all.

Hawaii, here I come.

To be continued.

How do you think the phoenix who already hates Ida would act? Remember how it mini self behaved when it saw Ida and Sage the other time? Ida isn’t even thinking of that one.

Now you also know why Judith died.
