Chapter 1

Fate as the way of making life miserable for people, most especially women. They suffer a lot in the society. Some of the reason is because this women don’t have children.
The people around her might start mocking her and calling her terrible names.
Another reason is having a bad husband that will make life miserable for you.

However, this was a life of a woman name Grace, she is a typical example of childlessness and bad husband. Jesse made life miserable for her.

Grace was in the kitchen preparing a meal for her husband. She was making is favorite meal, Fried chicken and with Italian bread with cheese on it.
She was putting effort on the meal coz she wanna please her husband.
Jesse walked in, is facial expression shows he was mad and ready to pounce.
” Isn’t the food ready yet. Are you cooking the wh0le house that you can’t be done with a single meal ” Jesse her husband barked.

Grace flinched and turn her head.
“It almost ready darling” she replied trembling.
“Don’t darling me, prepare my meal”he fired at her and walked away.
Grace wonder if it’s a crime for calling him darling.
She struggled to fight the tears in her eyes. But they kept betraying her. She use her palms to clean the tears from her eyes. But the more she clean them, the more they pour.
She knew if she don’t let it out, the more the pain will overwhelm her.
But is not time to cry, she knew if she cry Jesse will only come and shout at her the more.
He don’t even care if she cry’s or not, and it hurt her that her husband don’t even care about her tears.
She loves him.
Grace couldn’t take it anymore she fell to the floor living the chicken in the fire
Her mind race back to the past. And how she as to quit her job. It as being exactly seven years of her miserable marriage to Jesse.

Grace work as a journalist in a media company.
She loves writing a lot and her books was mostly on how to motivate women, build them up. She advice women to stand up for their right. She encourages women not to get intimated by any man.

She was dating Jesse back then. She was madly in love with Jesse.
He seems to be the idea and perfect guy for her.

She as lost both her parents on a ghastly car accident, her parents car collided with a truck. The truck crushed her parents,her parents remains can make someone at the sight of them start throwing up, coz their face was face and body was badly crushed. They were reported coming back from a wedding.
And the reason why Grace wasn’t in the car was because they left her at the hand of a babysitter.
Grace was only five then, when she learn about her parents death. It was really painful for her as a little girl.

Her grandma took care of her. She grow up in her hands.
When she was twenty, her grandma died. She was diagnosis with cancer. She died eventually and that left Grace baleful. She spent rest of her days mourning the lost of her grandma. She loved her so much. Her grandee means a lot to her.
Why was life taking everything from her, she always ask herself, but that was a rhetorical question for her. She don’t care of the answer, why is it happening to her. What as she done to deserve it.

She didn’t let that affect her education, she chase her dreams of becoming a journalist. She start writing her books even if it didn’t become famous. But she sells for who really was interested in her books.

She lives alone at the outskirt of the town, own her own car. Live a simple life.
At twenty three, she met Jesse at a birthday party her friend Mandy invited her to. It was her friend boyfriend birthday party.
She wasn’t fond of going to parties, but a long persuade from Mandy she gave in.

When she step into the party and scan everywhere. She met the eyes of Jesse staring at her. Grace was uncomfortable with the way he glance at her, she tried to ignore him, but she can’t is peering gaze was making her so annoyed 😠. When Mandy left her, Jesse walk forward to her and started chit chatting with her. She declines is proposals of friendsh¡p immediately.
But when Mandy came out with her boyfriend Dace. Dace shook hands with Jesse. Then Grace discover they were friends.
That brought her closer to Jesse. Her friend Mandy afterward discover she loved Jesse and Jesse love her too, since he always wanna date her, but she refuse him.

Sooner, Grace and Jesse started dating and not long after they thought of getting married.
Jesse works at a company where they create mobile phones.
They both eventually got married.

The first year Jesse was a very lovely and caring husband. He treat Grace like a queen. He makes sure she’s so happy and Grace in the other hand make him happy.
The were both happy. The second year, they discover that they can’t have children. Due to an infection found in Grace.
But things were going fine between them. But eventually when they enter the third year.
Things started changing. Jesse started behaving weirdly.

He started coming home late and when she ask him why he comes home late. He will give a unreasonable excuse.
One day he came home drunk and started abusing Grace, he ended up hitting her. She thought because he was drunk that why he acted like that. She thought he was going through something and he his hiding it from her. But no, he started getting worse. He will won’t come back for the day without telling Grace.
Grace was alarm of Jesse sudden attitude, she was getting sick of it. With annoyance,she confront Jesse for his attitude and he beat her up for daring to question him.
She cried her eyes, why was he treating her like this. Why as he change.

For henceforth, Jesse always beat her for reason, he shout at her, curse her and many more. He made her quit her job and tell her just to stay at home.

Grace lost her confident as a strong woman who inspire other women at a situation like this. She became a slave to Jesse coz she loved him no matter what. She kept her problems to herself and she didn’t even tell her friend Mandy what she was going through.
Jesse became a beast and that was how she will cope with him for the remain years. She accept it as her fate, although she prayed he would change some day. But she doubt that, he move from bad to worse.

“You burnt the food ” Jesse roar could be heard.
Grace jerk back to reality. She realize the chicken she was frying are burnt.
She gasp repeatedly and off the gas. She turn to Jesse would at a grimy face and his fist were clenched together.
She swallow the lump that was suppose to be struck in her throat.
She was walking towards her without saying anything anymore and still was in a angry mood.
She wonder what he was going to do with her now. Is he going to beat her up, she wondered.
She sheik in terror and gasped repeatedly. He came closer to her and she was shaking like a leaf.
He took her left hand and place it on the hot pan. She gave a sharp scre-m.
“Ah ah ah ah ouch ”
But he smile as he inflict pain in her. She continue scre-ming but he did not care.
