He release her hand and she held it. She winced continuously. And look at her badly burnt hand. The place was badly burnt.
She arched a painful brow at Jesse. But all he gave her was a angry face.

” You burnt my lunch and this is the punishment for making me go hungry” he gloat.

Grace didn’t say anything. She held her place, it really hurt a lot. How could he do this to her and smile about it, but he didn’t come as a surprise coz he as being beating her up.

“You can still eat the Italian bread with cheese on it ” she struggled to say still feeling hurt.

He didn’t say anything to her, he turn and was about outta of the kitchen.

“We you still eat that ” she enquired
He turn to her.

“The bread” she said with a lower tone.

“Of course am gonna eat it, do you expect me to be hungry ” he fired hoarsely.
He glance at her hand he burnt. The burnt was close to her wrist.
” Serve me my food and treat that f-cking wound on your hand ” he said and went away.

Grace serve him the Italian bread with cheese, and a bowl of meat balls, the meat balls was leftovers.
He took the food from her and start eating them without even glance at the woman he hurt a while ago.
She left the dining and went into her room. She took out the first aid box from her wardrobe and sat down on her bed.

Grace treat the wounds by herself. She as always being trashing herself when ever Jesse beat her up.
She goes to the hospital if the wounds are severe, but only she.
When the doctor and nurse ask her what happen to her.
She will lie that, she was in an accident, though they doubt her statement coz her wounds look like Someone as beat her up coz you can see marks on some part of her body.

When treating the wounds, tears stream down her eyes.
The pain she was feeling now was not from the pain of the burnt hand, was because she felt pain in her heart.
Why does Jesse treat her like she’s nothing, he was find reason all the other to always abuse her.
She wonder why fate as giving her such and husband.
Why did his attitude change, is it because I can’t bear a child for him.
How is that my fault. She clutched her on her chest holding her shirt, she cried and continue to cry.
Sooner, she felt her eyes heaving her. She lay down on the bed without arranging the first aid kit.
She drifted to sleep and was awaking by her husband loud scre-m..
She sat on her butt frighten. The eyes moved to the door and saw Jesse.

“Who is gonna clear the dishes from the dining table” he barked.
She got up immediately and went to clear the dishes.
Grace washed them and headed back to the room coz she was still feeling sleepy.
The first aid things were scattered on the bed. If she don’t clean it up Jesse will scre-m her name.
She arrange them and went straight to bed. Her eyes were shut and then she heard footstep stepping on the ground.
Grace didn’t open up her eyes coz it was defiantly Jesse and she prayed he did not call her to do anything anymore.
She sat down and felt his hand car-ssing her face.
Grace open her eyes and was shock to see Jesse doing that to her.
” Am sorry my love for hurting you. Is your hand still hurting ” he apologize and pecked her forehead.
Why is he behaving so nice to her, she wonder.
He sat down and held her shirt trying to unbuckle the shirt.
He is doing it coz he wanna get intimate. That why he is being nice to her now.

Jesse wanted it badly coz he as an er-ction already.
She let him have what he wanted coz if not he might use force, and so when is over, he rose from the bed.
He wore his clothes and went away from the room without saying any sweet word to Grace.
She wonder why he hate her so much. Grace stood up and wore her clothes too.
Grace was sure he went outside coz she heard the entrance door banging.

Grace decided to go to the balcony along with her phone.
She sat at the chair there and start operating her phone. She started chatting with one of her friend Lacey on Instagram.

Lacey was a very fair lady with good personality. But she was so plumpy that you could barely see her neck. she was on her early thirties. She is married with two children
She knew about Jesse malevolent behavior towards Grace coz she caught him one day abusing her. And she once confronted him and warn him deadly not to lay any finger on Grace again.
But she was insulted, Jesse gave her a very hurtful insult by Jesse and he warn her not to poke her nose in a business that don’t concern her.
She left and sworn never to come to the house again. But she still kept touch with Grace. But Lacey always advice to divorce Jesse before he gets off hand.

” How are you ” Lacey type.

” Am fine and you ” she replied her.

” Oh you dear, you’re such a liar, you and I know that nothing is alright over there, having your dear husband who doesn’t know how to treat a woman and I wonder why you are still staying with such a man ” Lacey type back after some minutes.

She sighed as she read it.

” I can solve my own problem by myself, it doesn’t require divorce ” Grace replied.

“You’re such a stubborn one. Do you deserve such treatment. If I were you I would’ve divorce such bad ass from my life ” Lacey replied.

” Lacey leave by probs to myself. I will figure it out on my own ”

The replied was an angry emoji.

She heavy a sigh and next she heard rampage of things coming from in,side. It as if someone was smashing things anyhow.
Fully alarm she rush in and saw Jesse rampaging everything in the house.

” What is wrong”
” What is wrong ” Grace croak felling scared.

He look at her deadly and was coming closer to her. She leapt back.

The way he walked tells he was drunk. Jesse came closer and she could perceive the screech smell of liquor coming from him, he gaze at her drunkenly and pointed his finger at her, all she did was to stare at him with stupefaction.

She wasn’t surprise seeing him drunk, but she was scared of what he might do.

“You, You, you i regret the day I got married to you. You’re the worse mistake ever” Jesse croaked.

” I hate the sight of you. You disgust me ” he gibed with a stern look.

Grace wasn’t surprise at his behavior , she as being living with him for seven years.
He as being saying more hurtful words, most especially when he is drunk like he’s now. But she isn’t use to is hurting words. It really makes her woeful when ever he says that.

Grace also blame herself for not being able to produce a offspring, maybe that would have make the home happy, she thought.

” You’re drunk Jesse, let me take you to bed ” she said, pulling him to come along.

Jesse got mad and push her to the floor, she landed on the floor with her butt. She wince coz her butt hurt.

Jesse smirked.

“That what you deserve bitch ” he blunted out is taunting words.

Grace rose to her feet and arched a brow. She wonder why he hate her so much. He even act more than this when he’s not drunk.

Sooner, Jesse fell to the floor and pass out. Grace scurried to him and wrap one of his arm around her neck and pick him up.
He blunder as he pick him up, but before he could fall, Grace use her hand to hold his arm at the other side.
The both blunder as she ascend the stairs. She got to the hallway and Jesse croon.

” Leave me, who ask you to pick me from the floor. I don’t need your help”

She choose to ignore his crooning and when she got to the door. She use her leg to open the door, since it wasn’t properly closed before , The door swung open, making a little creaking sound.
She took him to the bed and lay him on the bed.

Grace took off his shoes and trousers. He started snoring sooner.
Grace was choking coz she could smell stench liquor he drank.

” What does he derive from drinking ” she ask herself inwardly.

He kept snoring loudly. She arched a brow at the man she married.

If someone would’ve told her years back before she married him that Jesse was the type of a man, no regard for women. She won’t have believe him or her, but unfortunately she will lived to regret her decision to settle with him.
But know one told and warn her about him. He seem the perfect guy for her.

She was happy back then in their two years of coming together, but everything change after that year.

She loved him despite the torture he gives to her.

“I need to make him some food before he wakes up ” she thought, and headed to the kitchen.

She decided to make him some rice.

When Jesse woke up it was already nightime. He sprung up from the bed and went downstairs.

When he ascend the stairs, he saw Grace and stop on his track, his facial expression change into a grimace one. But he recall all he did when he was drunk and he remember rampaging the palour, but the palour was clean now. Grace tidy everywhere.

Grace saw him and stood up. She smiled at him, but he ignore her smile as always.

” His my dinner ready ” he ask this time with a nice voice, but not much sincerity was in that nice tone of his, he will blow up when he is he learns his dinner is ready.

She’d went to serve him the dinner. He ate the food without even saying a word to her, not even thank you.
Well it to be expected coz he never even appreciate her for anything.

After he was done with the food, he went upstairs to his room and went to shower.

Grace clear the dishes from the dinning and went to wash them.

When done with the dishes. She went to the room and since she as already took a shower earlier. She just went to bed.

Jesse was fast as sleep. Grace turn to Jesse. She wonder when he will change or will ever change.

She slowly felt her eyes heavy after a while and she went under the duvet and slept off.

#The_next_day.

Jesse went to work and Grace was at home alone.
She was tidying the sitting room when she heard a knock.
Grace stop what she was doing and went to open up the door.
When the door open she was bemused by the sight before her.
It was Mandy her friend which she as not seen since five years ago. But she kept touch with her.
Mandy moved to another state coz her husband was a militant and they transfer him to Ireland and now Mandy was on her porch.

She hugged Mandy excitedly and Mandy tighten the embrace.
They disengage.
” Oh my God Mandy, what are you doing here in the Philippines and here in Cebu” Grace trilled.

” Won’t you offer me a seat first before throwing question at me ” Mandy reminded.

“Oops!! ” she exclaimed.

“Sorry” she apologize and offer Mandy in.

Mandy sat down and Grace sat at another sofa.

“Let me get you water ” Grace offered.

“No forget it, I already had water before coming here ” Mandy delince the offer.

” Okay babe, what about some juice and snacks. Lemme get that for you “Grace ask.

She shook her head as a gesture of saying ‘no’ and Grace inhaled and exhaled.

” what wrong, you’re my guest I need to treat you as one” Grace stated, Mandy smiled.

“Not that am rejecting, my stomach is full” Mandy replied.

“Oh please you always say that ” Grace complained.

She quickly remember that she ask Mandy why she was here.

” Why are you here in Cebu ” Grace inquired.

” My husband Dace got transfer back here to the Philippines” she replied.

“And am living in the next street ” she announced.

” wow, we are so close now “Grace exclaimed.

Mandy eyes caught the burnt on her hand. She was shocked.

” Why is your hand burnt ” Mandy inquired curiously.

” em, it…
She tried to come up with a story, she isn’t ready to tell Mandy the truth.
She form a story before Mandy could suspect anything.

” I got burnt when I was cooking. The hot pan caught my hand ” she lied.

” This is on like you. But the wounds is so severe, how could you burn to that extend without noticing ” Grace said surprisedly.

” ah.. I was thinking about something that why I didn’t notice he got burnt like this ” she continue to lie, but Mandy was not satisfied with her statement.

” What were you thinking about ” she enquired.
Grace have to answer to ever inquisitive Mandy.
” You know i don’t have child that’s why. I was thinking of having one, so I didn’t notice when I got burnt like this ” Grace replied and arched a brow.
She saw Mandy look at her angrily.

” I don’t have a child also, but I will never harm my self. Wait how will your husband lice you in this state. Why haven’t he taking you to the hospital yet” Mandy pored.

Mandy was impossible.

“He don’ t know anything about the burn. It happen yesterday. Jesse traveled, I don’t want to bother him about this injure” Grace lied, praying she will stop asking her question.

” But that doesn’t justify keeping yourself like this. Your wound is deep. You need to go to the hospital ” Mandy suggested.

#some_hours_later.

immediately Mandy left Jesse came. It was mid afternoon. She requested for food and Grace gave it to him.

#Two_days_later

Grace came back home after she visit her friend Lacey.
She spent long time there, until it was night coz she felt she wanted to be away from Jesse for some time. But she prepared his food down and left it in the dining in case he was hungry.
When she flew the door open, she was shook and struck numb at what she saw.
She was frozen to a s₱0t and was trying to make out on what she saw.
When she regain herself, she felt anger she as not felt before, pounding on her chest.

” Jesssse!!! She scre-med his name.
