Angel Of Mine Episode 10 – 11

Angel of mine

By Amanda Mofiat

Ins**t 10

Hubby went out on a business trip and this is day 1. My mother is leaving in a few days to come because she has to take care of some business back home. You see this is what things should be like, my mother-in law visiting us for few days and going back as soon as she can, not her staying with us for more than a month. Anyway the good news is that, I have finally managed to turn my mother-in law against her son or is it the other way round. Either way what I am trying to say is that hubby and my mother had to believe my fake story about me losing my child.

Oh no I was yet to celebrate with Tiffany, I didn’t want my mother to know that I was lying to her; she will never trust me again. I needed as many allies as I could get to destroy mother and son relationsh¡p. Right now I just can’t wait for my mother to leave the house so that I could resume my evil plans. I want to make that woman suffer; I want her to wish that if only she wasn’t born none of these things would be happening to her. The next following day, I wake up early in the morning and I guess my mother-in law is still sleeping. I walk to the kitchen and mind you it’s around 4am. I really need someone to clean the house and that person; it wasn’t going to be me after all I am still recovering for the loss of my unborn child.

I took a bottle of water in the fridge and it is cold, I am referring to the weather. I walk upstairs to her room; she needs to clean the house. I open her door and she is fast asleep. I switch on the lights and pour the cold water on her. She wakes up with a scre-m and I laugh out so loudly. You should have seen her trembling with the coldness; it was a fun sight to see.

‘Emily.’

‘Come on, wake up. My mother will be up very soon, she needs something to eat and you need to clean the house.’

She gets up from the bed without saying anything and struggles to walk to her suitcase since her leg is still hurting her and I haven’t got the chance to check her wound, well I am not the one who got hit by a car. What was she thinking when she got hurt?

‘Be fast please. I will be waiting for you downstairs.’

‘Okay,’ she responds and I get out of her room.

She honestly needs to start cleaning the house before mum wakes up because she might need something to eat. I make myself comfortable on the sofa and switch on the television while my mother-in law has started cleaning the house. Oh no I could have been helping her but I am not feeling well, I am still recovering from the loss. Hubby had called checking up on me and he never asked about his mother, if she was okay and stuff. He must hate her right now.

‘Clean that part,’ I instructed her, ‘make it shiny.’

She does as I say and she is struggling to walk. I am not feeling pity for her right now. Anyway she was supposed to go and get her wound checked by the doctor but I honestly don’t have time to go with her to the hospital. And Jamal never told me to take good care of her and so I might as well do whatever I please with her, she is not my mother after all.

‘Can’t you be faster?’

‘I am not feeling well,’ she says with a sad tone.

‘And so what? So if you are not feeling well, you can’t clean the house?’

‘No, I will be done shortly and start preparing breakfast.’

‘You better be done before my mother wakes up. Isn’t it you were the one who wanted to help with the household chores? This is what you will be doing until I recovery. You are the main reason why I lost this child and so we can’t do anything about that. Can we? Mother-in law,’ I say with a smirk.

She didn’t respond and maybe that was best for her. I left her and went to my room; she had to be done with the cleaning before mum wakes up because she loves having her breakfast early in the morning. So maybe you might be asking yourselves so many questions, questions like why aren’t I letting her go back at the village? Why didn’t I stop Jamal when he wanted to go back with her? Well it’s because once I am done with this woman, she will think twice about coming over to her son’s home.

Fast forward my mother finally went back to Canada after making sure that I was okay. She asked Tiffany to take good care of me. Oh yes Tiffany was going to take good care of me. It’s early in the morning and I am supposed to go to work. I haven’t seen my mother-in law anyway nearby and I am getting late for work. The house is in such a mess because last night I was drinking and she was supposed to clean it. They are dirty plates in the kitchen and I am not at all pleased by this. I won’t call out her name but I will fetch some cold water and walk to her room. Just pouring that water on her face will do her good and that’s exactly what I did. I walked in,side her room and she was sitting on the bed.

‘You haven’t made me breakfast,’ I say rudely.

‘I am not feeling well Emily.’

I laugh out loud. She is not feeling well, really? I am not buying her story, she is becoming lazy and I won’t let that happen in my own house. She is the one who decided to move in with us. It’s her job to clean the house, wash the dishes and cook for me. I won’t tolerate this kind of laziness and nonsense from her.

‘Come on get up,’ I pull her by her hand, ‘you are not feeling well my foot. Witches don’t get sick and so what’s f**ken wrong with you?’

She gets up slowly and seriously she just wants to piss me off. I want to have something to eat before going to work.

‘Be fast,’ I say clapping my hands.

She is being too slow; I am not going to leave the house if it hasn’t been cleaned by her. What if someone visits and the house is in such a mess. I don’t have time to clean it since I am supposed to go to work but she stays at home doing nothing that simple means that she is the one who is supposed to be the one doing all the household chores. She manages to dress up and we walk out of her room. She is walking slowly and I am following behind. I push her and she stumbles and fall.

‘Get up!’ I shout, ‘You were supposed to wake up early but you over slept. I have to be at work and there is nothing to eat. Cook something for me.’

‘Okay,’ she responds and gets up.

I sit on the sofa and trust me I am waiting for that breakfast. By the way I am not even supposed to go to work but I just want her to cook the breakfast for me because I have to go and see Doctor Pravan. I have to give him his money and thanking him for helping me out. If it wasn’t for him, Jamal wouldn’t hate his mother right now. So anyway my mother-in law finishes off preparing breakfast, she places the plate on the glass table. It looks nice but I am not going to eat it. I grab the plate and throw the food on the floor. Did you really think that I was going to eat her food? She could have poisoned me for goodness sake, I will never eat what she cooks and that’s a fact.

‘So you thought I was going to eat your food? I am not going to eat but you are going to eat it,’ I say to her and she looks at me, ‘Why are you looking at me like that? You heard what I said; eat the food on the floor.’

I mean like seriously, wasn’t she the one who cooked the food. From the floor she was going to eat it because there was no way that I was going to allow her to throw it in the bin after all she isn’t even working for the grocery. Is she? She just stood there and I am staring at her. She has to eat the food or she isn’t having any supper tonight.

‘I knew it,’ I said getting up, ‘you did put something in that plate right? Do you want to kill me?’ I said forcefully grabbing her by her arm.

‘Emily, please.’

‘Please what. You are refusing to eat what you cooked because you had poisoned me right? I knew it.’

‘Emily, I am…’

Before she finishes off her sentence, I slap her hærd across the cheek. She falls down on the floor and scre-ms. I don’t know why she is scre-ming, I mean who cares.

‘Emily, my leg. Please help me,’ she begs me and it’s the same leg that got hurt when she was knocked down by the car.

She was supposed to go for a checkup but who was going to accompany her? Me? Oh please we all know that I want her dead and her wound on the leg looks terrible. Maybe it was better if she was going to die because of it. As she is pleading with me to help her get up, with tears streaming down on her cheeks, I just smile while walking out of the house. She will find a way to get up and clean the house. I walk to my car and get in,side. I drive off to Tiffany’s house not caring of what will happen to my mother-in law. She is the one who agreed to come with her son and she shall be the one to beg her son to take her back but that’s after I have taught her a lesson that she will never forget. These mother-in laws think that they can mistreat us, my side I attacked her first before she could do so.

I am trying to get up but I am unable to bear the pain coming from my wounded leg. I really wish Jamal was here, even when he was mad at me, I was willing to ask him if he could take me to the hospital. I was supposed to go over there for a checkup but I have no one to go with and the worst part is that I am not able to walk. I have never experienced such pain before. Last night I could hærdly sleep as I was having a terrible headache from the pain. I don’t have medicine and I don’t have anyone that can get me some, I seriously could use some help right now but I am alone in the house and Emily will never agree to help me out.

She just walked out of the house and told me that I should clean it. I wouldn’t have disobeyed her orders if I was feeling fine but right now as I slipped and fell off hurting my leg in the process, I am failing to get up and she hide my clutches. I don’t know how I am going to get up and do all the household chores. I am in pain, my heart is aching and if only I had the money then I would have travelled back to the village but then I don’t have any money with me. I could have called someone to send me the money via Ecocash but Emily took my phone. She took my phone after saying that or thinking that I was going to call Jamal or people back at the village feeding them with all sorts of lies. I am not that kind of person and even if she is mistreating me right now, I will never tell anyone about it. I can’t tell my s about it because I want him to be happy, maybe Emily is going to change, and just maybe she is going to change.

‘Oh my God!’ I hear someone shouting as I am down on the floor, ‘mum.’

I look back and its Ernest. You should have seen the smile on my face priceless.

He helped me to get up and sat on the sofa with me. Ernest is Emily’s little brother that I met and he always paid me a visit everytime he was in the country. He was a doctor and when he came at the village, he helped at the clinic and I felt so much proud of him. I wiped away the tears and he just looked at me with pity.

‘Where is Emily? Where is Jamal?’ he asked.

I told him that Emily had left for work as for Jamal; he was out of the country. He placed his hand on my forehead.

‘You are burning up,’ he said, ‘let me take you to the hospital,’ he carried me on his back and walked with me to his car.

In the car there was a girl who quickly got out and opened the door for him. I just guessed that she was his girlfriend. I sat at the back with her and she was holding my hand, probably afraid that something bad might happen to me. Ernest owned his own hospital in the country and that’s where he took me. I was taken in a room and placed on the bed. I was just looking at Ernest as he was ordering them to take some things so that he can treat me.

‘I can’t believe that my sister can be so careless. Didn’t she notice that your temperature is very high, that wound was supposed to be nursed? I am very sorry, you will be okay and I will make sure of it.’

Words only were not enough to thank him for saving my life. He said that if someone hadn’t come in to save me, I might have been hospitalized for weeks and lose my leg in the process.

‘I will keep you here for a few days until you have recovered, I am so sorry mother.’

‘It’s okay. Thank you very much for saving my life. God bless you my son and don’t shout at your sister.’

‘Oh please mother, you don’t need to defend her. Emily is irresponsible; she was supposed to take good care of you. If she was taking care of you none of this would have happened. Don’t defend her because she doesn’t deserve that, I will talk to her.’

‘No,’ I quickly said to him.

*

I could see that she was scared, that simple means Emily was doing something to her. You could have seen the look on her face when I told her that I was going to confront Emily. Please I know my sister; she must have been the one who left her like that in the morning. Trust me I loved my sister and my mother but every time those women met, its trouble and not forgetting Emily’s friend, Tiffany I never liked her. Right here my main concern is for Jamal’s mother to get better. She is a lovely woman and who have treated me like I was her own son. Every time I visited her at the village and doing some of my workshops there, she treated me with so much respect, I loved being with her more than my own mother.

‘It’s okay mother,’ I held her hand.

I feel so pity for her and Jamal. Jamal I have no better words for him. I heard that Emily lost her baby and it’s because she was pushed by Jamal’s mother. Well I know Emily and she made that up. Emily made me break up with my previous girlfriend when she created some fake stories that’s why I am keeping Natasha away from her. I will never let them meet and that’s the main reason why when I had drove at her house, I told Natasha to wait for me in the car. Right now my main concern is to make this woman feel better and making sure that her wound is nursed.

Natasha is a nurse at my hospital and trust me everyone knows that she is my lady. She is a down to earth person and I just love her. My mother likes her but my sister she doesn’t like Natasha and I don’t care of what she thinks right now. I told Natasha to take care of Jamal’s mother for me, I had to go and have a talk with my sister. I was going to sleep at the hospital making sure that her temperature had come down. I walked out of the hospital and got into my car. It’s already 7pm and I had been at the hospital taking care of Jamal’s mother. Like I said it before, she is a lovely woman and she doesn’t deserve to be treated that way by Emily. As I drove at her house, I had so many questions to ask her. Why did she mistreat her? I mean that woman was a God fearing person and she wouldn’t hurt a fly. She loved Emily like she was her own daughter but my dear sister was just too blind to see.

Somehow not wanting to sound a bit rude or arrogant, I wish Emily wasn’t my sister. My dad wasn’t at all a horrible person, he wasn’t that cruel but Emily on the other hand is a snake. Oh no I don’t regret saying those horrible words because I mean it. I know right now going over at her house to confront her is a very big mistake and not a smart move to make but to hell with it, someone has to tell her off.

I get out of my car just after I had parked it outside the gate, I am not going to drive in the yard because I am not planning on staying that long, I have to make sure that Jamal’s mother is being well taken care of. The guard opens the gate for me and he is so happy to see me. Every time my sister drives in through that gate, you don’t see that big smile on his face; I have noticed it so many times that these people are very much scared of Emily. I walk to the door just after asking him if she was around and he told me that she had just drove in few minutes ago. The lights were switched on and one tap on the door, I was in,side the house calling out her name.

‘What’s with you shouting?’ she asked coming down the stairs.

‘Are you the daughter of the devil? Because honestly my father didn’t raise us that way,’ I just had to ask if she was Jezebella.

‘Ernest what are you on about? I have so many things to do like finding that witch. My house is dirty and clearly she didn’t hear what I said in the morning.’

‘Emily that woman was sick when you left for work. Right now she is at the hospital; her body temperature is very high.’

‘What? How did she get there?’

‘Emily I came here and found her down on the floor in pain and you were nowhere to be found.’

‘Ernest isn’t this my house? Who gave you the right to take that woman to the hospital without my permission?’

‘Just listen to yourself Emily; I didn’t need your permission to save her life. She could have died.’

‘And you think I care? Huh. She can die for all I care. Now she is trying to turn us against each other. You are supposed to be taking my side Ernest.’

‘Emily you are sick, very sick in the head.’

She slaps me on my cheek.

‘Get out of my house! I thought you loved me and you were willing to defend me from that witch. She killed my child and now you are siding with her, such disappointment bro.’

I laugh out loud and she must have thought that I was crazy with the way she looked at me.

‘Your baby? Some bullsh*t story Emily. Emily we both know that you were never pregnant and it’s a possibility that you made yourself fall from those stairs. I so wish you were not my sister.’

‘You don’t mean that,’ she said with a lump on her throat, I must have hit a nerve.

‘I mean it Emily. Don’t forget that God is watching you. Taking good care of that woman is like a blessing. God gives you many blessings by just doing so but you are busy mistreating her. One day you will regret ever hurting that woman. She is a lovely woman and it’s rare to find such kind of mother-in laws Emily. I pray that you change your ways or you will not end up losing me but Jamal and everyone that ever loved you. I will let her move back here with you when she is feeling better. You are an evil person,’ I yell at her, I am pissed off by her actions.

‘I don’t want to see her in my house, ever again,’ she said with tears in her eyes.

‘The truth hurt Emily. You will regret one day,’ I say as I walked out of her house and she was busy scre-ming out my name.

This is work of fiction.
